I celebrated my birthday at Luminarias and had such a wonderful experience. From start to finish, the evening felt special. Our server, Evan, was absolutely spectacular. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. He checked in at just the right times, made great recommendations, and kept the evening running smoothly. We later learned that the restaurant was actually understaffed that night, which honestly surprised us because the service never felt slow or chaotic. Evan handled everything with professionalism and a great attitude, and we truly appreciated the extra effort. The food and drinks were delicious as well, beautifully prepared and full of flavor. The whole experience made my birthday dinner feel memorable and relaxing. Thank you to Evan and the team for such a great night. We’ll definitely be back! 🎉🍽️🥂
This review is long overdue but still worth sharing. As holiday travelers, we were so fortunate to discover Luminaria’s Christmas Day brunch, which exceeded our expectations in price, quality, service and portions. Highly recommend for next year! We had a lovely experience.
My husband and I came here tonight to celebrate my husband’s birthday. There was a 4-piece Latin jazz band playing! We did the Dine LA menu. Everything was so delicious. Lee was our server and was AMAZING! Lee made this birthday special and even brought out an extra dessert.
We had friends visiting from out of town and we really didn’t know where to go for dinner. We decided to try Luminarias because of their excellent reviews and they did not disappoint. Everything from the great view on the outdoor balcony, the amazing food and drinks, and even getting lucky with their “restaurant week” special menu! Evan was our server and he was both funny and very attentive throughout our dinner. Although we actually live in Valencia, we will definitely make the trip to come back again!
Celebrated 2 bdays during Happy Hour. Enjoyed small but tasty appetizers. Been here a couple times & our server Evan has been fantastic, every time. HH drinks were very tasty and pretty. Great outdoor patio. Tons of free parking. Great ambiance with nice lobby furniture & cozy fireplace. Love this place since their remodel.
I had a wonderful dinner here on my last night in the LA area. The restaurant ambiance was wonderful at night (the reservation was for 7:00) and we were on the covered balcony where there was plenty of room and seating. The steak and fish was wonderfully cooked, they had unique drinks and we paid what I felt was fair price for the wonderful night out my partner and I had.
An Afternoon Above the City: Lunch at Luminarias Some places don’t just serve food they pause time. Luminarias Restaurant is one of those places. I had the privilege of spending lunch there with my team our entire group of shift managers hosted by our Regency Manager in a gesture that spoke volumes. Not just appreciation, but intention. The kind that says: you matter, your work matters, and today we slow down together. From the moment you arrive, Luminarias announces itself without arrogance. Perched above the city, it offers sweeping views that feel cinematic Los Angeles stretched out below you like a living mural. The architecture alone is worth the visit: warm arches, elegant lines, and a sense of old-world Mexican grandeur that feels both timeless and welcoming. You don’t feel rushed here. You feel invited. Then came the food and this is where “good” becomes an understatement. Every plate that hit the table was intentional, beautifully presented, and deeply satisfying. Rich flavors, bold but balanced, clearly crafted by people who respect tradition while mastering execution. This wasn’t just lunch; it was an experience that demanded your full attention. Conversations slowed because bites required silence. That’s how you know the food is real. But what made the afternoon unforgettable wasn’t just the cuisine or the view it was who I shared it with. Sitting with my fellow managers, breaking bread outside the pressure of shifts, metrics, and daily demands, reminded me why leadership matters. Why teams matter. Why moments like these are not luxuries, but necessities. Laughter flowed easily. Stories were exchanged. For a while, titles disappeared, and camaraderie took the lead. Our Regency Manager didn’t just treat us to lunch he created space. Space to breathe, connect, and feel seen. And Luminarias was the perfect setting for that kind of moment. I left full of incredible food, yes, but more than that, full of gratitude. Grateful for strong leadership, a solid team, and a place that understands how atmosphere, flavor, and human connection can come together seamlessly. If you ever want to experience Los Angeles from a higher vantage point literally and figuratively Luminarias is not just a recommendation. It’s a reminder of how good things can be when done right.
We haven't been here for the longest. Probably more than 10 years. This is an awesome property. With ample parking and beautiful views. Top notch place for events. Very romantic if you're on a date. I was going to give the service 5 stars, but had to hold back because it took them more than 20 minutes to get out desserts. That was just to long. Other than that, the food was good. We ordered the skirt steaks, ribeye, salmon and the 4 choices of meat grill. I didn't think they are open for lunch, but definitely nice place to show off to new friends.
We dined here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were very impressed with everything this restaurant had to offer! The food was masterfully put together. Flavor pairings and presentation were out of this world and tasted amazing. We caught the last bit of happy hour and tried some of the skillfully crafted cocktails. We sat outdoors and enjoyed the vibe of the seating area and the views from the perched patio. Our server Mariela was friendly, attentive to our needs, and took great care of us. A wonderful experience to celebrate a special occasion. Will certainly be coming back.
What a gorgeous brunch experience! Came here with my wife and we were blown away by the view, the food, and the atmosphere. We sat outside on the patio — sunny, breezy, and relaxing — perfect for a weekend date. We started with the Peruvian Ceviche, which came beautifully plated with shrimp, cucumber, sweet potato, and a citrusy green sauce. Super refreshing and light, with a nice crunch from the crispy rice cracker on top. The Wedge Salad was another stunner — super fresh iceberg lettuce, creamy dressing, pickled onions, bacon, and beet purée. Bright and flavorful, with great texture and a pop of color. For mains, I had the Double Patty Smash Burger — juicy, well-seasoned, and stacked with cheddar, caramelized onions, and duck fat fries on the side. Honestly one of the best brunch burgers I’ve had in LA. To drink, we tried a strawberry-mint cocktail (forgot the name but served in a copper mug) — refreshing, not too sweet, and perfect for the warm weather. Service was friendly and attentive, and everything came out at a good pace. Vibes were great — music playing, but not too loud, and everyone looked like they were enjoying themselves. Highly recommend this spot for couples, brunch dates, or small celebrations. We’ll definitely be back to try the bottomless mimosas next time!
Very pretty place . It's a little hidden so check for the signs. They have different menus so everything isn't available all day- just heads up. Got the Beef Birria Empanadas- the sauce was delicious & saviory. Roasted Street corn was really yummy & flavorful. Duck fat fries were crispy & delicious. Crab cake Benedict was also really good with hit crispy potatoes & the Paid vacation drink was a nice bold grapefruit flavor. Server was super friendly & attentive. Prices are a little higher but portions are sharable & the quality it good. Lots of tables inside & outside patio overlooking the city - very cute. I would say dress nice (wouldn't recommend sweats & a baggy shirt).
Great restaurant with a terrific sunset view of East LA skyline!!! Parking was easy, and reservations made geeting our table very quick. Took my family here for Valentines celebration. There's not many options for kids, but we made it work. The fried oysters were OK 3/5, the crab cake was delicious, and we couldn't get enough of the duck fat fries. Dinner was, as expected, delicious and worth the price.
As newcomers to the area, we’ve been on the hunt for our favorite local spots, and Luminarias did not disappoint! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the beautiful aesthetic and inviting atmosphere. The outdoor dining area was especially nice, and despite the chilly January evening, the heaters kept us comfortable and allowed us to fully enjoy our meal. Speaking of the food—everything was absolutely delicious! We all finished our plates, which speaks volumes about how much we enjoyed it. The service was also exceptional; the staff was attentive, making sure our drinks were refilled promptly and ensuring we had everything we needed. We’re already looking forward to coming back in the summer to experience the outdoor dining in warmer weather. Overall, Luminarias is a fantastic spot, and we highly recommend it!
Early Evening Celebratory Birthday Dinner! Great atmosphere, pleasantly surprised with live Latin Jazz Ensemble. Food was pleasing to the palette, the desserts were not only visually stimulating, but, delicious. Lee, our server, was not only engaging, but, extremely personable, kind, and generous. His service and personality tied everything up nicely, for a great night out.
This restaurant provides space for both functional events and individual dining. It is located on the hill, with a clear view to the adjacent 710 freeway. We were seated near the bar. There's a lady behind us was apparently drunk. Her voice is loud and she cusses all the time. Unfortunately, we have to endure this while we're there . Anyway, we ordered from the "dine LA" menu. The food tastes good, and the portions are appropriate. Aside from the annoying person behind our table, we had a good dining experience here
The food was decent, but nothing stood out. Plus, there are no vegetarian options. The salads are basic. So, ordering sides to make a meal that comes out very pricy. The fries were perfect & crispy. Cocktails are good. The espresso martini was exceptional. The lava cake was delicious. The view of the San Gabriel mountains is great. Our server Evan made the evening even better with his sense of humor.
We really appreciated the portions, they’re not huge but definitely large enough, so good value overall. We were not super impressed with the flavors, the fish was fresh so no major complaints but nothing extraordinary. The service was not good, she had a little bit of an attitude but not terrible. The best thing was the chocolate dessert.
We visited Luminarias for the Sunday brunch. The brunch menu was kinda limited, in my opinion. Our server was great up until our food came out then he just disappeared. The presentation of the food was fantastic. The french fries were very tasty and so were the empanadas de birria. I had the chilaquiles and while the portion was very generous it locked on flavor. My son had the chicken and waffles. The restaurant itself was beautiful with views of the freeway (not the best view). Overall, not a place that I would drive an hour to go to again.
Food was great. Service not so great. Runners dropped off appetizers. Different servers did bring food out. Our server seemed stressed out covering such a large part of the floor. Floor manager along with GM didn't move around much till they needed to. Meal was good. Would have loved to try desserts. To get that menu took 12 min. For her to come back and ask what t we wanted from that menu was another 13. At that point we just wanted the bill. We couldn't find anyone to get it to us. Took several more minutes. At the end of the day I'd go back for the food. At some point. It service was horrible. Poor couple next to us sat down hadn't gotten a menu at least for 15 minutes we watched. Coordinate your service. Food is great. Good value for the money.
What a lovely romantic place to dine. Nice local special occasion restaurant. I was here for a fundraiser in a large banquet room. ALL 400 people got an 8 ounce steak (we didn't get a choice on the cook, mine was well done, but my plus one got a medium rare.) The green pesto chimichurri was good, mildly tangy/spicy. 4/5. The mashed potato was stiff and lukewarm 3/5...the veggies included a couple spears of asparagus all nicely cooked almost al dented 4/5. The dessert was a multilayered chocolate cake, it was thick n' chocolatey probably would make chocolate lovers smile. 4/5. Coffee provided at a coffee station,, but not served. Servers 5/5 were quick to clear plates, and kept things tidy and moving along. Although, I didn't have a dessert spoon, it was easy to ask for one and I received it quickly.
Very disappointment about our company event. We had an office party and the room and food were well below our expectations. We chose the location based on rave reviews, hoping to find a nice restaurant to share and celebrate with our employees at the end of the year. When we arrived, although the exterior looked nice and the staff were professional, the way our event was managed felt like a poorly run catering company with zero ambiance. We were seated in a conference-like room, next to a very loud dance party, making it difficult to hear each other. The room felt almost claustrophobic. The food was disappointing. The steak we were served was overcooked, chewy, and utterly unappetizing. Despite the restaurant's reputation, the presentation and quality were mediocre at best. We had been assured that we would get a nice menu with soft drinks, but what we received were cans of soda on the side table (Sprite, Coke, Diet Coke) and next to a pot of cold coffee. This was far below what we expected from a restaurant of this supposed level. The entire event was poorly managed, and a decision was made to prioritize profit over guest satisfaction. We paid top dollar for this experience, and it was very disappointing.
Wanted to take my gf out for a nice lunch for the 4th of July day. Food was great but be blatantly ignored by the staff beyond a few times was crazy. They went out of their way to not check on us. Guess I don't look like their normal clientele. And yes we seen them check up on all other tables so many times. We won't be back and that's probably how they want it too.
