This is a hidden gem in the downtown Castro St. area. Fast, FRESH poke bowls available on menu. Other items like sushi available, but I always get poki! Not a big place, so not good for large groups as you may not very a spot to sit if they are busy. Kids seem to like the menu as well. Clean and well maintained facilities. It's a fast food sushi place, but the surprise is the excellent quality at a reasonable price.

We enjoy coming here for very reasonably priced nigiri combos, freshly fried gyoza, and rolls. Rice and fish are fresh. The staff is always friendly and polite! Spots are available to sit outside. For sushi this is by far best value for your $ dollar in MV.

This poke bowl packs a punch! For around 14 dollars, you get a huge bowl which you can customize to your liking. I got the spicy tuna, salmon and yellowtail fish which paired well with all the other components. This included sushi rice, seaweed, veggies, fish eggs, edamame, ginger, fried onions and a bunch of other nice tidbits. Service is quick and this is a popular lunch spot in downtown MV.

we love them. Fair price, good quantity, speedy service, close to our house. Aren't the best sushi around but it's definitely a staple in our resturant rotation when we don't wanna cook. Always tip the takeout because we want to support the business.

This sushi takeout spot has become my little Friday tradition, and it never fails to make me happy! The fish is always incredibly fresh and delicious, and the staff is genuinely warm and welcoming. Their consistency in quality and service keeps me coming back every week. Highly recommend!

I eat poke very often and this place has really good poke. The salmon and yellow tail are very fresh. The sushi rice is very good. Service is good. $13 was a good portion.

Fresh delicious sushi made to order without the high price. The miso soup was delicious too. We ordered lunch special combo no 32 $17 for one regular roll, one special roll, miso soup, and gyoza.

The fish was pretty good quality and they’re generous with the toppings. I like that they add your sauce options on top of the rice and with the ingredients so it can be pretty evenly mixed. Fantastic sushi and great service. From being welcomed as the door opened to prompt and polite service. A very well equipped table of sauces, cutlery, cups and more. Plenty of seating inside and out. A poke bowl was left sitting at room temperature by mistake for longer than my friend felt comfortable with. The staff was very gracious, however, and remade it for her on the spot

My brother & his extended family were passing thru the bay area & swung by for a quick visit as well as for a quick bite to eat. As his family included Qty 4 grand-kidz we needed a kid friendly dining experience with quick service. That's where Masa Sushi popped up on my food searches & we decided to try it. The staff were very friendly & professional. They guided us in making kid friendly selections while also providing a good selection for the adults. This is not a real full scale establishment however for a quick dine & then dash, (after paying that is), experience, it hit the mark!! The food was so very tasty that I will certainly be coming back for more. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quick but tasty meal...

It’s not bad but the way the poke bowl was served is disappointing for a dine-in experience (see picture). Also the protein portion was very small.

The fish didn't taste fresh at all, the tempura was stale and thick rather than crispy, the rice was clumpy, and the rolls themselves fell apart easily and were cut in very inconsistent sizes. I wanted to like it because of the price and the pleasant staff, but unfortunately I won't be coming back

Edit: I used to come here all the time (multiple times a week) but new management directions destroyed it. After a "system change" they can't do substitions any more, which effectively increased prices by 30%. I spent 20 minutes patiently showing that the math didn't make sense, and the cashier agreed but was told by the manager that it didn't matter ("substitutions need to be charged extra"). Unfortunately, I decided to explore other Japanese options in the area, and you should too! Here's my old 5-star review for your reference. I wish they would treat loyal customers better :( "My favorite budget Japanese place in the Bay! The food is of great quality, and the warm welcoming every time I enter the store only adds to the experience. Highly recommend!"

The customer service here is excellent. The lady at the register is very sweet and polite. Unfortunately, the food quality doesn’t match the service. My stomach is pretty much bulletproof, and I never get food poisoning—but I did after eating their sushi.
