I come here every time I visit Montauk. It’s the best food in town, better than most restaurants in NYC: delicious, creative, fresh. Staff are polite, atmosphere is intimate - great for a date.
Outstanding meal. Great menu. Delicious. We had the best duck ever. Fluke sashimi, melt in your mouth pork chop. Very enjoyable. I can’t wait to go back.
Friendly staff , amazing food and cocktails. Local fluke sashimi and clams as appetizers highly recommended. Octopus tacos as main course was delicious as well , dinner finished with lavender honey crème brûlée.
A great menu that caters to all tastes. Of course it’s got the local seafood staples but plenty of other great American food stuff like burgers (so so good!), chicken, etc. It’s just a hop skip and jump to the rest of town…definitely recommend making reservations for dinner as a way to jumpstart the night.
keep an eye on the chef !!!! Frank amazing food great ideas wonderful drinks.. I had black and blue. scallops duck fat fries and rock shrimp
Dined here about 4 years ago and had a so-so dinner. Return visit - much better results. Drinks with garlic fries to start off, then kale salads, then fluke plancha. All terrific. Service and ambiance A++
Fun atmosphere. Friendly staff. Delicious meal. We went with a group and everyone loved the tuna tostadas, stracciatella cheese, steamed lobster and pickled martinis! Will definitely be back.
Absolutely unbelievable. Every single thing on the menu was delicious and the staff was incredibly friendly! Fluke sashimi, Lobster roll, scallops and oysters were the favorites of the table! A must visit if in Montauk!
Awesome food, best we had in the Hamptons this week.
We ate there 2 years ago Summer of 2020, just before COVID-19; they used their parking lot with Huge Tent &/Heaters thought it was Awesome!!!. As then Food was Excellent and STILL EXCELLENT!!!….I had their Famous SouthEd burger today, (Yum Yum!) my wife had their Crispy Duck double legs (thighs & drum stick) OMG!!!!😱😊😂 Deliciouses 😋😋 !!!
Just fell into this place and felt really comfortable eating at the bar. Great service, fun friendly atmosphere and some inspired food from salad through dessert. Nice drinks. A real find.
We just got South Edison take out at Thursday’s night. Amazing vegan buffalo cauliflower app and baby octopus tacos made our night ! Def we will come back for more.
Amazing service. Frank and Starlin were fabulous. Food was out of this world and have never met nicer and more accommodating people. Will definitely be back.
This is my favorite restaurant in the hamptons. The food is always soooo good and the service is great. Highly recommend, I send all my friends here when they go out to montauk!!!
This is our all time FAVORITE restaurant! I send all my guests there. I highly recommend having a taste sensation here! Love love love this restaurant. We wish they were open longer in the season.
Fresh and delicious food. Great service!
This past weekend I went to South Edison and was blown away by the food and cocktails! My wife and I each had a few different cocktails and all of them were delicious. We started with the fluke sashimi, which is probably one of the best things we've ever eaten, followed by the scallops and tuna. The food was delicious and the wait staff was super attentive! Definitely will return!
Over the summer I dined at South Edison in Montauk multiple times and it was truly an exceptional experience. I’ve been looking to write this review for some time now! The menu featured an array of dishes that not only showcased culinary creativity but also highlighted the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients. Each bite was a burst of flavors, leaving a lasting impression. The ambiance at South Edison is unparalleled – a perfect blend of coastal charm and a laid-back atmosphere. The rustic yet modern decor creates a welcoming space that complements the seaside location. Whether you're looking for a romantic evening or a casual meal with friends, the restaurant's vibes cater to all. The service was impeccable, with a staff that exuded professionalism and genuine warmth. From recommendations to attentiveness, the team at South Edison made sure every aspect of our dining experience was top-notch. Overall, South Edison is a gem in Montauk, offering not just a meal but a memorable culinary journey. The combination of amazing food, great vibes, and excellent service makes it a must-visit for anyone seeking a delightful dining experience on the East End.
This is my second time at South Edison and both of my experiences there were so good that I had to leave a review. When my husband and I went last November we sat at the bar and Sophia was our bartender, and she was fantastic! She made us so many different and delicious cocktails and it was really a fun dinner experience. This past weekend we went back with friends for my husband's birthday and I asked if they could do a cocktail tasting - they called to confirm our reservation and said that they probably couldn't accommodate that request as it's not something they normally do (which I completely understood) but that they would try and serve a few drinks with a brief description of each. They also said that they couldn't bring a cake with a candle over but would have another kind of dessert. I was fine with that as well. When we arrived we were seated right away and my husband was wished a happy birthday. They had us try two different cocktails and Sophia came over to explain what was in each. She is excellent at making and creating drinks and seems passionate about it, which makes such a difference! She is definitely an asset to the restaurant with her friendly and fun personality and her knowledge of cocktails. I should also mention of course that the food was delicious; we all loved our meals (the burger is amazing) and we shared the calamari and the burrata, which were both fantastic. They brought us carrot cake for dessert, which another employee explained that she made and it was her recipe, and it was very good. They didn't charge us for that which I thought was really nice and also unexpected. I will keep coming back here whenever I'm in Montauk! 5+ stars!
Get to South Edison!! The food, drinks, atmosphere and staff are all amazing. We had our rehearsal dinner at South Edison and I can't express highly enough how great they were to work with. The food came out perfect, the staff was so kind and they were so helpful with getting us setup for welcome drinks afterwards. Frankie from South Edison made our wedding cake and it turned out absolutely amazing. We can't recommend this place enough and are so excited to get back here!
This was the best experience! The food was amazing and we had such a fun time. As soon as you walk in the staff was so welcoming! Ashley took care of us and made our night! She was so warm and fun. We had the absolute best night!
I spent years overlooking this place, but not anymore! The Street Corn and Burrata Appetizers were great, plenty to share. The Lamb empanadas were good enough, but peas or mashed potato would be a good addition. The cavatelli was excellent, with hidden pockets of lemon and sweetness - great dish. The pork parmigiana was a massive portion, enough for two, and really delicious. Overall, I’m impressed! I’ll be back for sure!
This was a great meal and overall dining experience. Brie was our waitress and she was fantastic, offering us well informed suggestions on the food and attentive service. We had eaten the night before at a restaurant named after a dark blue beach that was underwhelming and the night before that at a disappointing fancy resort and spa with great views on a cliff over the ocean where the food was pretty bland and not worth it. So, South Edison was a welcome surprise with amazing oysters, fluke sashimi, tuna tartare, a tasty and very interesting pork chop Parmesan, and an amazing tuna steak entree. My kids said the shrimp tacos were the best they ever had (they loved the fried pickled ginger pieces). We didn’t get dessert but they all sounded great….
No resy on the weekend in June and they fit us right in with a party of 5. Food and drinks were top notch. I loved they had great music but wasn’t too loud for our group. Ty
Truly a gem! The decor was relaxing but fun, service immaculate, and the specialty drinks were innovative and delicious. The food blew us away! Amazingly delicious flavor combinations—stuffed fried olives, octopus tacos (wow), and Cavatelli, were our favorites, while our friends raved about the kale salad and oyster tacos. This review is not complete without mentioning dessert. While all the desserts were spectacular (our table sampled four kinds), I can’t say enough about the Honey-Lavender Creme Brûlée! Amazing!
This place is fantastic! Such a great spot right at the edge of town and a small parking lot out front is a huge plus. The server was friendly and attentive and the food was truly incredible. The truffle fries were the best I have ever had and my double smash burger was absolutely perfect. My girlfriends pesto orecchiette was amazing and left us talking about it for days. I rarely ever write reviews but South Edison made me wish I had another night in montauk just to have one more meal there!
The seafood was so fresh you would have thought it was swimming before you ordered it. The drinks were very different and all exceptional. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Anytime I come back to Montauk this will definitely be on the list of places to visit. I highly recommend.
THE best restaurant in Montauk, hands down. The atmosphere is just my style - fun, fancy, casual AND intimate - all at the same time! The service is always top notch as the servers always go out of their way to explain the menu and give their expert recommendations. The cocktails are out of this world. You must try the octopus tacos and fluke sashimi. I've dined here countless times and have never had anything that I didn't like. Definitely save room for desert. The chef/owner, Frank has a true gift so don't miss out on South Ed when you're in MTK. Best ever!
Great place. Food was awesome. We had the oysters, scallops and cavatelli. Our server Emily was amazing and always wearing mask and gloves. We understand the inconvenience of doing that and really appreciate it. The safety measures were thoughtful and comforting. Perfectly arranged outdoor dining with plenty of space between tables. Finding a good spot during COVID summer was a challenge. All places in town were either closed, completely booked or not taking reservations. We were celebrating my girlfriend’s birthday and this was the only proper place for a romantic dinner.
Food was great (seared tuna and spicy cauliflower ) service by Heidy was exceptional. Drink mixes were super. Ambiance was hard to evaluate on an off-season Wednesday evening dinner.
This place is by far one of my favorite restaurants in Montauk! Their food and drink selection is to die for. I ordered the octopus tacos and duck, the tacos were my fav! my mother is gluten free and they were so accomdating. The staff was extremely friendly. The new owner came around to each table and greet us with a smile, which is a nice touch. Definiely a must-go while in montauk!
Beyond one of my favorite restaurants in Montauk. From the drinks to the food everything is on point. My favorite main dish is their Tuna and my husband's favorite is the burger with duck fat French fries (those alone are amazing, we get a side order to go every time). Our fav apps are the fluke Sashimi and fried olives, both are a must try. Dont get me started on the drinks, really well thought out. Their bartenders and staff are so sweet as well. This place is a must-try. I've seen a few people mention pricing but thats Montauk and I've seen prices tripled theirs at other locations. I feel theyre actually more responsible than most.
I've eaten at South Edison all 4 times I visited Montauk, and it never disappoints. On our latest trip we experienced socially distant dining. It was safe and the service was wonderful. The food is always high quality. I left my credit card there and they quickly mailed it back to me- and were very nice about it.
Montauk can be very very white, if you know what I’m sayin’? This place is a respite. It’s kid friendly and shows good diversity among patrons and staff. It isn’t cheap but you’ll have a lovely dinner and feel like old friends when you are done. The crispy fried chicken was maybe rotisserie and then fried? It was unusual and great.
Great food, good selection, great desert menu. I had the burger which was huge - I took off the top bun which made it managable with a knife and fork. They were happy to cook it to my liking (medium rare) which is hard to find nowdays. Very friendly and attentive staff. Off of the main road so not that wasy to find but worth the search.
We were very grateful for this place and its kind staff! Got to Montauk late and had trouble finding a good spot for dinner. Saw this place had a table on OpenTable at 9 pm, so we went. We saw it was empty and said we felt bad dining there and keeping the staff back, but they vehemently reassured us it was no problem. They said the dinner rush had passed an hour before and they were happy to take extra care of us - which they did. Really enjoyed chatting with the hostess and server throughout the meal. Everything - the mezcal old fashioned, the seared tuna dish, beet and burrata salad, and fried oyster tacos - was absolutely delicious. I’m still thinking about the tortillas three days later; I felt transported to Mexico City. If only every taco could taste like that. We will most definitely be back!
Delicious food, excellent service. Cocktails were outstanding. The beef tallow fries were out of this world.
Best place in Montauk. The most exciting of flavours! You can tell that a lot of time and effort has went into developing the menu. So well put together that you’ll never get tired of it. Polenta appetiser, octopus tostada and the arancini is absolutely to die for. A place that’s definitely taking a good shot at creating new flavours and exciting dishes without failure. It’s what Montauk is all about!
Excellent food can be hard to come by out here, but they consistently deliver delicious and innovative food. The shrimp tacos, the duck, the fish - all delivered and then some. Even the kids chicken fingers were next level! Great cocktails and wine, friendly staff. Will definitely be back a lot.
The food was outstanding! You could tell the chef really put his heart into everything. Highly recommend. Can’t wait to go back!
We came to South Edison for a night that was part goodbye, part birthday, and all-around needed. Sterling and Liz were amazing — genuinely kind, attentive, and made us feel totally taken care of. The Brie bites were unreal, the crab empanadas might’ve started a fork fight, and the Mezze tacos were one of those dishes you think about the next day. Great cocktails, great people, and the kind of dinner that reminds you why you love Montauk so much.
That was the best burger I've ever eaten in my life. It was the South Ed burger. I'm sitting at the table in South Edison right now and I could not even hesitate to leave a review. With my boys on a bachelor trip and the service was A+ and the food from the beginning to the end was excellent. High recommend and will be coming back with my girlfriend.
My girlfriend and I were only here in Montauk for 3 days and 2 nights. I have celiac disease and my girlfriend is gluten intolerant. We found this place using the app Find Me Gluten-Free. Thank God we did. This restaurant is absolutely the best. It was so good the 1st night we had to back our 2nd night. There menu has a very nice variety of options for gluten free and the staff is very informed about the necessary precautions to take about cross-contaminations. There blackened skirt steak is a must have. Absolutely delicious. Their Gluten-Free chicken bites for an app is definitely the best chicken bites I've ever had. Such a delicious recipe with alittle heat. This Restaurant will definitely be my go to from now on when we visit Montauk every yr.
We had a great meal with a large group. We each ordered apps and meals from the menu and enjoyed all the items. We were celebrating a milestone birthday and they made the most delicious Gluten Free cake! Our server was attentive and welcoming. The drinks were timely and it was a memorable evening. I would recommend it and we hope to return.
Best food in Montauk imo!! I think about their seared scallop dish all year, it’s the best! We love the fluke sashimi and tuna crudo for apps. For entrees try the scallops, seared tuna, burger, pork chop parm or crispy duck legs. Cocktails are well-crafted and delicious. I had the Alone Thyme and MTK Temptation and would highly recommend both. I can’t wait until we visit South Edison again next summer.
This place is amazing. Great food with one of the only real smash burgers in town. Also great are their Buffalo Chicken Bites (basically an elevated version of boneless Buffalo wings) with a fancy blue cheese dip. Whatever you do don't sleep on any of their desserts! The head chef and owner Frankie makes some of the most delicious delectable desserts on Long Island! Anything on their dessert menu is straight fire!
The yellowfin tuna main course was delicious and highly recommended. We also tried the sashimi fluke, which was good and had a little bit of spice to it. They have excellent cocktails. I liked the Better Decision cocktail better than the Froey. Relaxed environment and attentive service. It was nice that gluten free and vegan options are marked clearly on the menu.
Best food I had in Montauk. Atmosphere could use some improvement. It's loud. But the waiter was super nice and the food was just fantastic. The duck was delicious and the fish alla plancha was extremely good. Good thing is it didn't need reservations, just walk in and enjoy a perfect dinner.
Out of all the restaurants in Montauk, South Edison is truly the best culinary gem. The Chef is an absolute genius, each dish is more complex and elevated than the last with layers of fresh bold flavors and texture! Don’t miss out on the mind blowing cocktails/mocktails to pair! The staff is always so pleasant and friendly, and the location is great in the heart of downtown Montauk. Can’t wait to go back already!
I came here the other day for my birthday dinner after seeing Barstool Sports review of their cookie. The food and service here was fantastic. My clams and sea scallops were cooked to perfection. After my appetizer and main course I had the now famous cookie and I disagree with Dave from Barstools. That cookie was a 10! The overall appearance of the restaurant is very clean and pretty. I highly recommend this place and will definitely make another reservation the next time I visit Montauk.
I've never had a better meal in my life. The flavors of the dishes were unbelievable and the portions were perfect. Hands down the best meal I've ever had in my life! I recommend to anyone whom may visit Beautiful Montauk to stop here for a culinary experience you won't regret nor forget!
We eat here every year when we visit Montauk, Veal chops, brussel sprouts, tuna ceviche, bass, chilled clams on the half shell and summer salad all hit the mark. The clams chorizo needs chorizo. The dish was tasteless and stuffed with too much breading. Would we return next year? You bet. Overall, we have never been disappointed. On the contrary, we enjoy it every year, The ambiance is lovely and the service excellent.
Friendly staff. Food was interesting and local but there was a very large group (half of restaurant) so the food came out cold. Would give them another chance.
Chef owned neighborhood restaurant. Menu includes raw bar, seafood, burger. Generous portions and consistently good food. I really like the shishito peppers.
It's a very, very solid professionally run restaurant with knowledgeable personable staff... Kronenburg in a Kan gets extra points too- but the fish& fancy food concept misses a good old chicken 🐔 & 🥩 dish to feed the hearty..
Beach atmosphere gave the delicious seafood an extra kick. The artful plating made the meal visually appealing to match the great taste.
It is clearly part of the scene in Montauk. However, we decided not to eat there, but to have drinks. It was a good choice for drinks, to stay at the bar, talking. We loved that scene and ambience.
We ordered the Baby Octopus Tacos, Oysters, and Baked Clams, and everything was good but the octopus tacos were disappointing. I love all seafood and had no issues with the octopus, but I was not a fan of the woodear mushroom. It changed the taste of the entire meal. I'd come back to this place again because the menu looks great otherwise. I'd just have to try something else...
My wife and I ate here this past weekend. We didn't have a reservation, but they had room for us which was great. Our waiter, Ryan, was super sweet and attentive. The other staff were also attentive by refilling our water without having to ask, but I did not get their names. We had a few drinks off the cocktail menu which were fantastic. I had the cucumber jalapeno margarita, despite being apprehensive, and loved it. My wife got the berry mojito and loved it also. Our apps were decent. We had duck fat fries which were our favorite, the brussel sprouts that came with a delicious sauce, and baked clams which were pretty average. We also had the street corn, which was highly overpriced, but still delicious. I had the shrimp tacos and personally loved them. It had almost a blackened taste, but the lime juice saved that. Overall, our experience was pleasant and I would recommend if you have a budget of about $200 for 2 people for apps, drinks and entrées.
I add my praise for South Edison. The shishito peppers were fun - you'd get 3 sweet ones and then a spicy one, but all tasty. The summer salad was fantastic. The tomato chowder was too thick and too rich -reminded us almost of a pasta sauce. The fish and chips had a great piece of perfectly cooked fish and really unusual, tasty, smoked new potatoes, but I missed the traditional crispy French fries. The service was good, although the waiter did push a little hard to get us to order appetizers and dessert, but he was attentive and charming. Of course, there are almost no bargains in Montauk - you eat, you drink, the 2 of you will spend a hundred bucks. Having dined at 10 different places over 3 visits, that just seems to be the case. I guess Menucci's on Monday nights might be the one exception, or if you don't drink or are light eaters and can split an entree.
Locals out to try a new Montauk restaurant only to find it closed BUT South Edison was open so we came in for dinner. End of season and late-ish we were the only diners in a restaurant that lacks a stylish cohesive insta-worthy interior design and feels slapdash HOWEVER the food was delicious! Yes what a wonderful surprise, our server was attentive, charming and efficient and the food was fresh, extremely flavorful, plated beautifully and so abundant we had leftovers. We sent our compliments to the chef and secretly hoped that someone would give the place a makeover to match the level of cuisine.
We had dinner here during our stay in Montauk. The restaurant is bigger than it looks, the staff are all friendly and attentive. Parking lot and entrance ramp make getting in decently accessible. I didn't use the restroom so I don't know if that is accessible or not. Our drinks and main courses were very good. The pasta dish had a tasty mix of flavors and was cooked al dente. The brisket smash burger was very good and came with a side of crispy French fries. I do have to note though that the Buffalo Cauliflower on the menu was not at all what I was expecting. If you are looking for crispy pieces of cauliflower dredged in Buffalo sauce, served with blue cheese or ranch dressing, this is not that. Ask them what it is (or see my photo before) before you order (saving you $17).
Had high hopes but somewhat disappointed here. Service was slow, and reasons seemed to be because they were understaffed. 2 servers for the whole restaurant and no bus boys, no food runners. So 2 people, pretty much running the show, which translates into slow service.. Raw bar was good, but the striped bass we had tasted like charcoal.
The food and drinks here are good, but really expensive and at this price point they need to be doing better. $48 for a seafood tower of 9 clams, 6 oysters and 3 shrimp. A shrimp cocktail of 4 shrimp for $18. We ordered a lobster but they couldn't find any forks for us.
Nice place to try. This time I wasn’t happy with service. After our meal was ordered and put on the table, no one came to us any more. We had to call and wait for waiter to pay for our dinner. Prices are way to high for this place and the food on the menus. I ordered heirloom tomato cavatelli for 27$ which is the cheapest meal on the menu. And it came cold. Street corn for 14$ as an appetizer isn’t nice at all. The meal itself was just ok nothing special. The chairs and tables are needed to be replaced or renovated. Sorry for my true.
Food is overpriced and dishes taste ok but not great. Not worth the money. Restaurant needs to charge a reasonable price or pick up their food game. Needs to improve flavor and quality to charge $30-40 bucks for an entree.
Service was fast and efficient. The lobster tacos had no flavor and the portions were disappointing. Way too expensive for the quality and quantity received.
How can such good cooking leave such a bad taste in one'mouth? Dumb waitstaff who do not care is the answer. It was a generic experience where the crew is not paying enough attention and have to keep being asked for the same things over and over. Things like the the lobster cracker and the small fork which we had to ask for 3x and wait for in total at least 10 min while staring at the lobster. That type of thing. I should mention the restaurant was almost empty. And actually they brought us 2 lobsters instead of 1 and the fish tacos. Then when we asked for lemon they brought us lime and explained that the lemons are sliced thin for bar drinks instead of wedges. She actually thought the the wrong food cut in to the right shape was a better choice than the right food cut in to the wrong shape. I don't know who to pity more her or her customers.
The service was extremely slow. $5 for a soda and each refill is $5 as well. Food was mediocre at best my wife got a salad you would figure they would use baby kale no it was just kale. Baked clams just ate one. Only thing that was really good was the pork parmesan. If you're going to spend a lot of money you expect exemplary service we just sat around in an empty space waiting for anyone to help us.
We decided to go to Montauk to see the Milky way and light house at night. We chose South Edison because it is listed as one of the top restaurants in Montauk and because it has Gluten free options. First of all we chose entrees that said they were Gluten free. But my hubby got very sick from the hidden Gluten in the food. Secondly we have had seafood all over the country including several islands in Hawaii. It is over priced for what they offer. We also went there because it said they had Halibut. However when we got there it was no longer available and they did not update their menu on their web site until today. Instead I had to have fluke. For 35 dollars it was a tiny piece of fish. We don't mind paying if the food was good but it was all appetizer sized and we had to eat dinner at home when we got home maybe at 3 AM. Fluke is one of the cheapest fish there is and we usually discard it if it is given on a sushi plater. I am allergic to shellfish so the options were extremely limited for me. Seafood is my favorite cuisine but this restaurant was not really a seafood restaurant it is a bar with shellfish happy hour type plates. Montauk is TRYING hard to be a real destination. But it is lacking in the area of fine dining. It is even lacking in the way of half way decent food. They can fool the transplants that flock out there but can't fool us! It does not in anyway measure up to Cape May NJ which is a dining destination. Some of the employees were clearly drunk and nobody seemed to care. If getting drunk and having half way decent over priced food this is for you! Now about the pluses. The chef is really good! The sauce with the fish was amazing and I am not a sauce person, It shows how flexible he or she is to work with such cheap fish. Also I went on a truffle fry crawl and kick for a while. I had most of them in Manhattan. I would say these were the best truffle fries I ever had! The shrimp cocktail was done perfectly my hubby said! Also it was not far from the lighthouse and at night you can see the Milkyway! I think it was 6 miles. But it did not have the beachy environment like you find at other ocean destinations like Key West, Cape may NJ, or anywhere else. Had a busy NY City vibe. We are trying to escape the city not be with our neighbors in Montauk which seemed to be mostly Brooklyn transplants from Podunk based on conversations we could not help but over hear because they were all practically screaming.. But something in the food was not gluten free. This restaurant doesn't understand you can get someone very sick which they did get my hubby sick with Gluten. They need to be retrained about cross contamination. People are Gluten free because of illness not because of choice. It's not like being a vegetarian. So if this restaurant was in the city I would still give it 2 stars but as a seafood town wow you guys should known better! I guess the problem is most of the diners do not know better but we do! Never again!
Just don’t come here. Much better places in Montauk to eat and have a good time. If you like bad food and supporting rude owners, this place is for you. If you like managers that support rude owners and not the patrons, this place is for you. There is no hospitality here, there are no good vibes, there is nothing to write home about.
Appetizers were very good. Some sort of bread for the table would have been nice but there was no sign of it. Shrimp tacos were tasteless. Service was inadequate at best. We had a table for 6 adults and 2 children—2 small bottles of water were put on the table when we first got there. We waited a half hour to get a refill. After appetizers, we ordered a round of drinks to have with our meal. Two wines were delivered and we were told the other drinks would be out soon. They came after the dinner was eaten. My granddaughter and my two sons in law ate their meals without a drink. We couldn’t get the attention of the waitress or anyone for that matter. Considering the dinner cost almost $500, we should of at least had a sip of water —or they should have not charged for the three drinks that came after the meal. This is not our first time at this restaurant—it wasn’t like this in previous years but we won’t be back.
They serve underage kids here without ID’ing Abysmal service and overpriced food. We came on a Thursday night for a 7:45 reservation. We were not seated until 8 and did not have our first drinks until 8:30. I’ve had a better smash burger is the lower east side of Manhattan at 3am for $10. Their $32 smash burger is served in a way the buns become soggy and the burgers itself were still too thick to be considered a smash burger. Their cocktails tasted of cheap ice. You could actually taste the freezer from ice they used to shake the cocktails.
The main entrees took 2 hours to come out, they spilled a drink on two of our dinner members, they added 20% gratuity and wouldn’t let us take it off, wouldn’t compensate us for the two hour wait for food, and the waiter was offended that we even asked. To add to it, half our guests hated their meal. Probably because half of it was sitting in the kitchen for an hour and then microwaved before being served.
I agree with the reviewer below. This place is disgusting. I was seated by the window and had to fight with tons of fruit flies diving into my wine glass during the entire meal. On top of that, my appetizer (Octopus Taco) was rubbery and swimming in the super-salty sauce making the soft taco soggy and my main dish (Seared Tuna) was the worst tuna dish I ever tasted and had absolutely no fresh tuna flavor whatsoever and again was served with over-seasoned garnishes. I'd never recommend this place to anyone visiting Montauk. When the owners lose their initial passion, it shows in their foods! No wonder the restaurant was empty at 7pm!
This place is truly horrible. I think it is under new ownership since the menu changed from a few years ago. Drinks were watered down and the food was just terrible. It seemed like the fish they served was out of a can. The octopus tacos and tuna main course were inedible. The burrata was also disgusting. Poorly put together and awful quality. It's a shame because it used to be a great place. Stay away
I found the menu a little odd and pricey. I understand a limited menu due to Covid. However, being in a pandemic, I would think that the chef would have cooked my husband’s pork chop thoroughly. He began eating at one side, found it slightly chewy, but as he got closer to the middle, it was absolutely raw!! Pork is not a meat made to order. It was actually seared. I was not impressed with their menu. The staff was nice.
Unfortunately the seafood served here seems like it was out of a grocery store freezer. The music was so loud I could not even converse with my family. The waitress missed dinner orders, brought wrong drinks, and was not willing to accommodate we had to get the manager involved. DO NOT GO HERE.
Have frequented this restaurant many times but my visit was absolutely terrible. Firstly they gave us bottled water which they charged for later without asking what kind of water we wanted. Half of entree’s ordered for the group were delicious the others bland and poorly prepared. All the portions are terrible especially for the exorbitant price. The bill was very high and when we realized we were charged for water we questioned it and was told- oh she got confused and got the mineral bottled water instead which we already drank. No apologies or offer to remedy it. We went early and despite the fact it was half empty we still waited and were given poor service. We also watched the staff mock and mimic other customers. My family has zero problem paying well for a good meal but this was not that!
