the foods tasted great. I wish they served warm water too. alhamdulillah.
We were all very hangry, and decided to come to Beef Up Noodle for late lunch / early supper. Fortunately for us, it was empty and we got ordering quickly. The food came in due time, and it was fresh and tasty. I find the store quite messy though, not enough hands to make sure it's clean everywhere. There are hygienic wipes for us to clean up though, so all is not lost in this regard.
📍 beef up noodle is a newly opened halal hand pulled noodle restaurant. They specialize in Lanzhou hand-pulled noodles and their , sister restaurant Old Sport Food is on the NYT Top 100. This place is also a tip-free establishment! And the space has a big seating space making it convenient for students to sit in! 🍜 🐄 what I ordered: 🌟 signature beef noodle set: long long noodles with plenty of beef. The set comes with spicy cucumber salad and a soy egg 🌟 another iconic noodle: their hot chicken plate stir fried noodle which comes with large pieces of chicken, peppers and a never ending noodle 🐓 🌟 juicy pan fried dumplings: get them w beef, and you won’t be sorry. If you’re looking for a bowl that tells a story, Beef Up Noodle is where tradition meets flavor in the heart of NYC. Run by Hui Muslim chefs from Lanzhou, the restaurant carries deep cultural and culinary roots. Their head chef is a descendant of Ma Baozi, the chef who first standardized the world-famous Lanzhou beef noodle soup a dish made with heart, history, and purpose. Every bowl here honors that heritage, serving as a bridge between generations and cultures. What makes Beef Up Noodle stand out is its authenticity and dedication to tradition. According to the team, they’re one of the few and possibly the only halal Lanzhou lamian (hand-pulled noodle) restaurant in New York City. Staying true to the dish’s halal roots allows them to serve customers a genuine taste of back home while maintaining the art of noodle-making by hand. The Lanzhou beef noodle soup here is unmatched the broth is rich and aromatic, the hand-pulled noodles perfectly chewy, and the beef tender enough to melt in your mouth. Their Uyghur chicken noodles bring bold spice and warmth, while the crispy dumplings add that perfect golden crunch. Each dish feels crafted with intention, rooted in culture, and filled with flavor. Whether you’re craving authentic halal noodles, exploring Chinese Muslim cuisine, or just hunting for one of the best noodle soups in New York City, Beef Up Noodle deserves to be at the top of your list.
I loved everything about this place, not only the fact that their food is 100% guaranteed halal but also just how amazing the employees are too. I went with a group of friends and we all order a mix of things, some of their veggie options, the vegetable dumplings, chicken skewers, and braised beef noodles. When I say that you definitely get your moneys worth, I mean it. It was so good I even saved the location on google maps so I can come back more often! The food was amazing and I would definitely recommend to come try it out!!
Possibly one of my favourite restaurants for many reasons. First, the food is extremely delicious. We ordered the braised beef noodles and steamed beef dumplings. While the food was excellent, what stood out most was how the restaurant puts its customers first in everything they do. Tips are not required — all tip options are set to $0. This isn’t standard in a Manhattan restaurant, especially considering how expensive rent can be for a small family, yet they still manage to offer reasonable prices and no tips. There’s also a sign that says Free Suhoor and Iftar in Ramadan. This is incredibly beautiful and such an inspiring representation of Islam. Lastly, what I loved most was that Coca-Cola and Salam Cola were priced the same. This encourages customers to make an intentional choice in their drink selection. Since Salam Cola is more expensive to source than Coca-Cola, it’s clear their margins are smaller on Salam Cola and higher on Coca-Cola. It balances out — a very smart business decision. Muslim restaurants can learn a lot from this.
We got the Spicy Lamb Wontons with Chill Oil, Braised Beef Noodles, and Chinese Burger. The wontons were fantastic, really liked the chili oil and the lamb was seasoned really well. These burger was also good and the meat was again seasoned quite well. The noodles were also good. The food is halal and there is a bathroom for customers. The service was great.
If you’re anywhere near Midtown and craving a true taste of Lanzhou, you have to check out Uncle Hui Hui’s Beef Up Noodle. This hidden gem serves up some of the most authentic Lanzhou hand pulled noodles I’ve had. From the moment you walk in, the vibe is casual and welcoming. It’s a tipless restaurant which makes the already affordable prices even more refreshing with generous portions. Service is friendly, fast, and totally on point. Their noodle masters work their magic behind the counter hand-pulling fresh noodles right in front of you. Be sure to order their signature Lanzhou beef noodles and the Chinese lamb burger. Whether you’re a noodle lover, a homesick foodie, or just hungry for something amazing, it’s definitely worth a visit.
The ramen was incredibly delicious! I had the spicy braised beef noodles with mayak eggs. The beef was tender, the broth so flavorful, the hand pulled noodles were soft and bouncy with the mayak eggs, a bit on the saltier side, that complimented the dish perfectly. It’s a memorable dish, no doubt. The hospitality was wonderful, with the dishes coming out quickly with a joyful demeanor from the staff. I enjoyed it so much and look forward to coming back again!
Absolutely excellent! This noodle restaurant is a hidden gem and easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. The noodles are perfectly cooked—chewy, fresh, and full of flavor. Every dish is crafted with care, and you can taste the quality in each bite. The broth (if you go for a soup option) is rich and aromatic, and the stir-fried options are just as impressive, with bold, well-balanced seasoning and plenty of fresh ingredients. The portion sizes are generous without being overwhelming. On top of the amazing food, the service is friendly and fast, and the atmosphere is cozy but modern. Whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch or sitting down for a full meal, this place delivers every time. Highly recommend to any noodle lover—this spot is truly excellent.
Hidden gem in NYC!!!! If you are thinking of eating here, go immediately! When we walked in, we were greeted by the kindest staff who treated us like family. Seeing them making hand-pulled noodles, we knew we had to order the beef noodle soup. The broth, the noodles, and the beef were so flavorful without being overly salty or overpowering. The highlight of the meal was the beef and cabbage dumplings — easily some of the best dumplings I’ve ever had! The lamb skewers and pancakes (that they gave us for free) were also delicious. Overall, an amazing experience and we will definitely be back!!
This spot is definitely going in my top 5 restaurants!!! I can go on and on about this place. Food is so flavorful and hardy!! and the service is top tier!! The ladies where were taking orders were so sweet!! The vibes and ambience is so amazing to. Great place to gather with friends and family! And a plus that I love is that they have a prayer room it’s so convenient!! Definitely will be coming back here!!! This spot is what I call real authentic food!! Overall, food, service, atmosphere 100/10!!!
I had dinner here with a friend and I enjoyed my meal. I ordered the Signature Lanzhou Beef noodle soup, and my friend ordered the Uyghur Lagman with lamb & vegetables. We shared the spicy lamb wontons and lamb skewers as appetizers, neither of which were very spicy, but there is chili oil available. I would recommend both the appetizers and the beef noodle soup. The Uyghur Lagman was not our favorite and very much reminded us of dry chowmein. The restaurant itself is clean and had plenty of seating. You can order your meal at the counter or on one of the large touch screens at the counter. We did not have to wait long for our meal.
I didn’t want to write any negative review on the month of Ramadan. But this is only for seeking attention of the owners. We were very excited and ordered 3 different items for pickup order. We wanted to have it for our iftar. However the food was not good at all. The soup has barely any flavor. The chicken fried rice and beef chowmien have also barely any spices/flavour. Even the portion was very less according to the price. I don’t have any bad feeling towards the chef or anyone, everyone is fasting and tired. But people like us also paying for our food. In Sha Allah the owners will look upon this matter and best wishes.
Edit: The management responded to me the same day and gave me a refund. Like I said, I've had a better experience in the past so I would still give this place a chance if you are in the area. I went there today and it was a little busy. I ordered the beef noodle combo but it was taking a bit too long so I asked for it to go. I waited even longer and finally got my order. I went home after a long day and there was no noodles. There was just broth, vegetable, and one piece of beef. I was very disappointed. I've been here before so I'm guessing it was just a fluke because they were so busy but I expected better quality control. I guess just give it a check if your doing takeout.
I was looking forward to coming back here but unfortunately it was an extremely disappointing experience. The first time I came here the service was a bit slow but I was kinda excited to finally try this place so I brushed it off as a one time thing and the food was good so I still gave them 4 stars. Second time, was 10 times worst, I ordered the sesame chicken ($19.99, no rice included, not a large portion). After 35 mins I had to go up to the counter to ask about my food, and my plate was sitting there (not sure for how long). They gave it to me and I asked them for the rice, and he said it's coming. I sat down and tried the food, not bad but it was COLD. I waited another ten minutes and just decided to take the food to go & leave. 45 mins for a small portion of cold sesame chicken for 20 bucks, I don't think I'll be coming back here again. Had to change my review from 4 to 3 stars. They definitely need to do better especially if those are the prices they want to charge. ($20 for sesame chicken is insane in nyc.) First review. "I stopped in here just for a little snack to try it out since I was in the area. I wasn't too hungry so didn't get the noodle soup, which I'm hoping to try next time. I tried the chicken dumplings & lamb skewers. Both were great."
I went yesterday and was pretty disappointed. The signature soup itself was flavorful so that’s why I didn’t give it one star, and the noodles were also good. The beef in their signature noodle soup was so overcooked though, it was very tough and hard to eat. I also got the lamb wontons with the chili oil and peanut sauce, and they were SO hard to eat. The peanut sauce was so thick and hard to swallow, plus it wasn’t seasoned so it was like getting the peanut flavor but no salty/sweet/anything else to make it taste good. The chili oil wasn’t spicy either so it didn’t help really. I was trying to get it off the dumplings so I could eat them plain, but even then they really didn’t taste like much. I’m disappointed cause I really wanted to like a halal noodle spot, but I really don't recommend either dish I ordered! Also not sure if it was cause it was a weeknight, but the worker seemed annoyed that I was even there (people came after me and ordered so I don’t think it was cause it was too late?) I don’t think I’d go back, super disappointed cause I love noodles and dumplings.
