I can't fault this place! Really tasty food (we shared the pancakes and the egg/turkey bacon wrap), quick/friendly service, reasonable prices and it's nice inside.
All my relatives who visit me, request visits to Effie’s. We love this cafe. It is my go to place! When I don’t want to prepare a meal at home, that’s where I head, whether to dine in or take out. Thanks guys!
Everything A+ as usual. We had “Effy’s breakfast“ , lots of variety, and the Mediterranean wrap. Waiter was excellent- the Asian woman with long hair Thanks!
Had the most delightful lunch here yesterday and have nothing but flowers to give! Our waitress Sandy was spectacular and super personable. We felt welcome & at home and it’s quite cozy with a beautiful view of the street! The food was fantastic. I had the chicken burger and my friend got the wake up wrap and the fried Halloumi & both were unbelievably delicious. We sat and talked a while after and she came back many times to check on us. She also was very attentive towards other customers which was incredibly nice to see. If you’re visiting NYC this place is a must-visit hidden gem. I’ll for sure be coming back when I visit again & bringing my family! Thank you for the lovely service!
Had an Appointment at Mt Sinai. After we looked for a breakfast place and Effy's Kitchen came up. Short walk and we were there. Nice place very clean an cozy. We both got the Daily special, eggs,Bacon, cheese on a Briosh bun, with a Home brewed Ice Tea for $10.00 Dollars, yes I said $10.00 Dollars. I can Honestly say the sandwiches were 10 out of 10. All in All I highly recommend Effy's Kitchen.
Absolutely love this place! The breakfasts are delicious — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully served. They also offer unlimited mimosas, which makes brunch here extra special! 🍾✨ There’s a great selection of wine, beer, and fresh orange juice — which is super important for me. And the menu overall is full of tasty, satisfying options. Definitely one of my favorite spots in the neighborhood! Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys quality food, good vibes, and a cozy atmosphere.
The food is great and the service is too. I came here because I was at the hospital nearby waiting for a baby to be delivered. I looked for a place nearby to eat and found this one. I had scrambled eggs and French toast. Two days later my niece and I came here again after visiting the baby and parents. I ordered the French toast again because it was so good.
This place is a hidden gem on 100th street and Lexington Avenue on the Upper East side of manhattan. It’s beautifully decorated, there is a bathroom which is always nice to have in Manhattan, and they serve healthful food and drinks. The prices are really very reasonable for Manhattan and the portions are great for those reasonable prices. And the taste of the food was great. The eggs, baguette toast, and potatoes were just perfect. The eggs were done well with some milk and perfectly salted and not salty, the potatoes were almost like Yukon Gold tasting even if they weren’t, and they were flavored with just the right seasoning including rosemary, and the baguette was soft and chewy inside and crispy on the outside. The smoothie was a large portion, the salad was so healthful with kale and almonds and sweet potato w a balsamic vinegar sauce, and the chicken wings were lightly battered and crispy on a bed of arugula. Just the right portions and had some leftovers. Try this place! Enjoy the quaint feel and decorations also.
Been here for breakfast twice, and it was really quiet both times, the first time I was the only person in there. It’s a really lovely cafe, the food was amazing, I really recommend the pancakes, and the smoothies were huge and delicious. Loved coming here and would love to come back here some time.
Came here for brunch with my roommate and it was a cute lil spot and definitely very popular on the weekends. They have a lot to choose from and I love the Mediterranean inspired sections of the menu. They also do a bottomless $25 mimosas deal BUT you have to purchase one of the listed platters for it to be applicable. Had a great time and it was lovely service!!
A cute, cozy hole in the wall found just above the upper east side, East Harlem; this hidden gem has a great selection of American and Mediterranean cuisine, with a variety of healthy options as well! The food is great ans come pretty fast! It does get popular on weekends as they have a good brunch menu, all wrapped up with a unique and stylish ambiance and decor. Must try!
Very good quality food for a pretty good value, especially the weekend breakfast special. In general, everything that I've had has been pretty good from the omelette, breakfast sandwich, pancakes and the shakshuka. The only thing that was mediocre was actually the coffee. Otherwise, I like the food, service and overall comfortable experience that I have had every time I've been there. Oh, and if you pay in cash, they will give you a discount.
Effy’s Cafe offers good food and attentive service, making it a pleasant spot for a casual meal. However, the dining experience was slightly marred by the chilly indoor temperature, which made it a bit uncomfortable. Additionally, there was a discrepancy between the menu pricing and the actual charge for tea; the menu listed it at $2.75, but I was charged $3. While this is likely due to an outdated menu, it was a minor annoyance. Overall, it’s a decent spot with room for small improvements.
9/6/2024 Updating my review to reflect the improvements I've experienced at Effy's Kitchen. After some initial issues with the Tel Aviv wrap, my recent visits have been very satisfying. The food is delicious, and the service has generally been good. That said, the payment process still needs improvement. The Asian waiter at this location and others tends to stand too close while I'm at the pay terminal, watching the tip I'm providing. This makes the experience uncomfortable, especially since the preset tip options start at 20%, which is higher than I usually tip. I prefer to tip 18% for excellent service, 15% for very good service, and 10% for okay service. Having to enter a custom amount and calculate it on my phone while being watched is not ideal. I hope Effy's Kitchen can address this issue to enhance the overall customer experience. Despite this, I've enjoyed my meals here and look forward to returning. 7/28/2024 I regret to say that my recent visits to Effy’s Kitchen have been disappointing. The Tel Aviv Wrap, once my favorite dish, has not been up to par. On two separate occasions, it tasted off and was noticeably underfilled. Additionally, instead of being charged for the meal, I was billed for a side of fries that cost nearly half the price of the meal. I enjoy eating the fries first, I can’t help the wrap was poorly made, thus I shouldn't have been charged for nearly half the cost of the meal. These issues have made me hesitant to return, as I can no longer trust the quality of the dishes prepared by the current kitchen team. If these problems persist, I will have to find a new go-to café. 7/9/2024 The food is great, but the service is inconsistent. The male Asian waiter never checked on me during my meal, didn't refill my coffee or water, and seemed more interested in other tasks. His behavior with the payment terminal was also off-putting. Improvement needed. 6/28/2024 **Coffee:** Effy's Kitchen serves up a delightful cup of coffee that's both flavorful and affordable. It's a bit of a gamble after noon, though, as it may not always be available. **Food:** The culinary offerings have all been great, with favorites like the Challah French Toast, Tuna Melt, Tel Aviv breakfast wrap, and the Yoga Breakfast. **Service:** Service at Effy's Kitchen could use some refinement. The cafe's hours are somewhat unpredictable, leading to an early closure during a previous visit. A subsequent phone call revealed they are telling customers they close at 8:30, but the owner has assured me that closing early will be rectified. Effy's Kitchen is a charming spot with great food and coffee, and I'm optimistic about their commitment to improving service.
I went because it was said to serve Mediterranean food. I saw a few menu items that fit that category. I chose the Tel Aviv salad. It was nothing like any Tel Aviv salad I've had or seen. It was a large plate of greens with schnitzel sliced on top. The greens did have a few other veggies mixed. I would not order this again. This was not a $17 salad.
I enjoyed my veggie omelet a lot. It came with spinach, kale, onion, tomato, olive, and avocado with an option of two sides. My two sides were home fries and boguette (Italian bread). My issue was after I asked the lady at the register to clean the table I chose to sit at. The chick pointed all the other tables. "I could sit at." Well, I stood there waiting for to clean it, and she did. At first, I thought she was having a bad day. But then I came back two weeks later, and the Asian women at the register were still acting nasty towards me. This week, the Asian women placed my water on the other side of the table, where no one was sitting. However, I noticed she was more pleasant to the Caucasian women sitting next to me. Oh, and they also have a bunch of flies flying around. So pack your patience, bug spray, and a cocktail.
