Large portions with great taste and tons of meat. Their weekday lunch deal is really good at $10 (one main course and soup/soda). They have tons of options including noodle soup, dumplings, dim sums, fried rice and noodles etc. We had the taiwanese beef noodle (amazing, strongly recommend, 4 large beef pieces) and the Vietnamese pho (pretty good).
I plan special occasions around this place. The venue has limited space yet remains tidy and enjoyable with metropolitan energy. You'll find good food in a comfortable environment. The workers all maintained friendly and welcoming attitudes. Without question, I'm returning.
This restaurant I would definitely recommend the pork buns and the dumplings because oh my god they were so good for a cheap price in nyc. For two pork bun it’s about less than 10 and I believe the dumplings were as-well. The service was professional and amazing and very clean and welcoming! I would definitely dine in again. 👍
The food satisfies your hunger and the service your expectations. The staff executed service perfectly. Good menu options, affordable pricing structure and team members who care. The price structure matches the food standards. This place shows remarkable attention.
If I lived in NYC, I'd eat here often. I was on a work trip & staying at a nearby hotel. This small eatery is within a short walk. I was craving Asian food, & this hit the spot. Menu is extensive. I ordered the pork & bok choy dumplings steamed, roasted duck with bok choy & white rice, & a lychee milk tea with boba (asked for it to be made less sweet). All of it was delicious! And my order came with sauces that perfectly complimented my food. I dined in, & the atmosphere is chill. I appreciated the calm music playing & the TV overhead playing vacation scenes of lovely beaches in Bali & Tahiti. The dining area is small but sufficient. The staff is friendly & service is quick. Prices are reasonable. I paid a little over $30 for what I ordered. Highly recommend!
A hole in the wall little place in Manhattan that does mostly takeout (saw dozens of New Yorkers picking up dinner on their way home from work) but also has dine-in seating for about a dozen guests. The two of us scooped up window seating and ordered the Taiwanese beef noodle soup ($14), 8 piece pan fried pork & chives dumplings ($9) and the House pan fried lo mein with vegetables, beef and shrimp ($15). The servings are fresh, hot, tasty with healthy portions. The only thing that wasn’t great was the bubble tea that was a bit too sweet. Definitely recommend for take out or dine in.
We were scouting restaurants for my daughter to eat while going to school in NY besides dorm food and we found this place, quite inexpensive and very tasty. We went on a weekday and it has lunch specials with drinks for $10. There is plenty of food for the price and it tasted excellent too. My daughter likes this place. It does have many dishes to choose from and we tried different dishes and they’re all good. The lunch is packed very nicely and my daughter can eat lunch and dinner with the portions they give us. Quite an excellent place for students. The price is right, the food is good and plentiful, my daughter can’t ask for more LOL and as parents, less dent to the bank.
Of course we had to have Chinese food while in NYC so we found this spot and gave it a try. Man was it just what we want, needed, hoped for and so on. Love the updated look to include upgrade it food quality and presentation. Had the same but better taste than I remembered. Price did go up from the last I had Chinese food in NYC but sadly that's what happens after many years. Would go back for more anytime.
Small quick and easy Chinese food. Their dumplings are a must try! They are super fresh! We highly recommend both steam and grilled dumplings. The filing inside was so flavorful and juicy. Their Taiwanese noodles were pretty good too considering the price and all, the soup tasted authentic and they gave us a decent amount of beef. We also got a char siu over rice, personally I felt like the rice could use a little more sauce, but it was pretty good and nostalgic. If we were ever in a hurry, we would definitely stop by to order some dumplings on the go!!
Visited in August 2025. We were looking for some tasty and quick. This is not quite a hole in the wall but definitely not fancy eating. Fairly quick sit down. Enough space for around 10-15 people at the tables. Its a bit crowed but it works with the theme. The soup dumplings are cooked to a steamed perfection. Pan fried pork and bok choy are the best. Others in our party got buns that looked very tasty.
Cheap chinese food with good quality It didn't take too long to go to the restaurant from the train station. I ordered the soup dumpling and their lunch special. It was a lot of food for me. The food was really good. I like the dumplings a lot. The place is pretty small but it is good for eating alone or with one other friend. The staffs were really nice and friendly. Highly recommend for cheap good food
Those high ratings probably are here cause of free soda for rating. It’s good food and huge portion - but nothing too spectacular which is worth the five stars. Food is not very spicy. Vegetables are cooked rarely which is nice for my taste. Shrimps were not very flavorful unfortunately
The restaurant was clean not fancy and staff friendly. I ordered general Tsos lunch special. The quantity was fine. The chicken was BATHED in sauce as was the rest of the dish. The rice was soggy on the parts that werent even bathed in sauce. I normally eat alot in the restaurants i go and even . It wasnt worth finishing I won't be eating here again....
I stopped by Emperor Dumplings for lunch and tried the pork and chive, pork and mushroom, and soup dumplings. The dumplings were decent, but the overall taste was pretty average—nothing particularly stood out for me. The restaurant itself is small and cozy, offering both dine-in and takeout options, which is convenient. While it wasn’t the most memorable meal, it’s still worth a try if you’re in the area and craving dumplings. With a little more attention to flavor, this spot could easily step up to the next level.
Worst Asian food I ever had! The quality of the food was Microwave dish level. The meat was so chewey in both dishes, unbelievable. Zero flavor.
The customer service was good and the place was pretty but I got the spicy beef dumpling and they were tasteless! No spice and were shaped awful I was so disappointed and had an off flavor. I did enjoy the chili oil though with soy sauce but for the price point extremely disappointed also didn’t taste pan fried. 5/10
I am absolutely disgusted and horrified by my experience at Emperor Dumpling ON 3rd Ave 10017 I ordered food expecting a normal meal, and instead I found actual worms inside my dish. Yes—WORMS. I didn’t realize it at first and actually ate part of the meal before seeing the worms, which made me extremely sick afterward. After discovering this, I immediately contacted the restaurant expecting them to take the situation seriously. Instead, I received zero accountability, no urgency, and still have not been given a proper refund or resolution. Their response was dismissive and careless, as if serving contaminated food with parasites is normal. Since eating there, I became physically ill and had to seek medical attention. The fact that a restaurant is allowed to operate under such unsafe and unsanitary conditions is shocking. This is not a small complaint — this is a serious health hazard. People trust restaurants with their safety. If worms are being served in meals, what else is happening behind the scenes with cleanliness and food handling?
