Riquísimo!!! Exactly what I needed today. The chicken tonga soup is delicious. & so are the tamale 🫔 🔥 highly recommend 😍
One of the best spots in New York. The tinga soup is insane and the paninis are absolutely fire.
The Pastrami torta was amazing! Cant wait to go back and try some of their other food options. The Chicken tamal was good aswell!
Let start off with the food is amazing ay Factory Tamal! Now as I sit here eating my tamales and panini thinking to myself why isn't this place packed full of people and a line outside waiting to get in! Then I said no this is worth gatekeeping but that wouldn't be nice this food is definitely worthy of the world experiencing this place is way to good to keep it a secret. I want them to be here for many more years to come so if you are looking for probably the most under rated spot in the L.E.S come to Factory Tamal and try it for yourself!
A tiny space with only 2 two person tables and 1 four person table and 1 counter with 2 bar stools. Cold air comes in every time the front door opens. But the vegetable torta is great. We also had the mole verde soup(special) which was excellent.
Really wanted to try their tamale after seeing a clip of the owner describing the strenuous production process and his passion/reason for starting the business -- his grandmother and her recipes. We got there end of day so only got to get the chicken tamales. The mole and salsa Verde were both great. Tamales had a wonderful texture, not salty, and tasted like having homemade food. Looking forward to coming back to try the vegetarian options.
Wow, look at these amazing tamales that look extremely wholesome and even better than the ones that I get in Los Angeles. I pick these up at a discount via the food for all app... how amazing is it to live New York City and eat this amazing food that is absolutely affordable, all the while helping rescue the environment. The staff are super friendly and the vibes in here very comforting.
My husband found this place and for the first time we try the tamales, taste was great and a lot variety. My daughter tried a sanwich bacon and egg and cheese. And she didn't complain about it, she loved it. It is a small place, but very clean and the owner very nice. Totally recommend it.
My parents, of Puebla México, wanted to try this as it appeared on a TV show, and since we are fans of tamales, we thought we give it a try. Overall, the location is somewhat difficult to find due to the low-key facade, and its crayon-type sign written on the gate. My parents bought about 3 of different flavors, the brown sauce called molé, green sauce, and rajas, which are spicy strips of red peppers. According to my mom, the amount of meat and ingredients are adequate for a tamales. The taste for me was acceptable. However, the $5 per tamal is too pricey for something that's considered common. As she put it, "el que no conoce a Dios, con San Pedro se conforma". In other words, this loosely translates to, "if you don't know what is the best of something, then you'll conform to something else."
Staff is friendly. Dropped by for a quick coffee and Cuban Panini since my other spot wasn’t open. $3 for a large coffee. Taste wise relatively strong which I enjoy. $11 for the Panini. I was looking at the old photo of the place before realizing it went from $7.5 to $11. Was in the mood for one so stayed with the choice. Pictured attached 2nd half of the Panini. $7.5 would have been a fair price but totally understandable as the current situation in the world. I was going to give this 3 due to value but I’m going to be generous this time and give it the full 4 star. Presentation of the food and more importantly sufficient meat and of course taste is what sway the score. If I was in the area I would totally recommend the Cuban Panini.
Came here yesterday, Sunday afternoon with friends. No indoor seating, one table outside with 2 chairs. On a quiet street, very close to Seward Park which is perfect on a nice sunny day. Got the salsa verde with chicken and rajas con queso tamales. Definitely liked the salsa verde one better. Rajas con queso is roasted tomato and onion with cheese. Tamales are on the smaller side but can't complain, $3 each. Iced coffee was good only $2, and plus it wasn't overloaded with ice like a lot of places do. Service is quick and professional.
Came to try the tamales. I ordered a champurrado and a bacon and mozzarella cheese tamale. The size of the tamales is minuscule for $5 and the bacon and mozzarella tamale was extremely dry with mostly fat and no visible cheese. I complained and asked for a refund or an exchange and was denied and told it was “supposed to be” dry and empty of fillings. I had them toss it as it was truly inedible. My friend’s chicken mole tamale was good and he enjoyed his soup but in my opinion the price, size, quality and abysmal customer service make this experience not worthy of a repeat or even a primary visit. I miss queens.
