Watched the Usyk fight, $20 entry for a downstairs area was super reasonable. Good selection of beers, bar staff were fun.
Best burger I’ve had in a long time
Went in twice while in town, it was close to my hotel so that was nice. First night was late Monday night. Had a small crowd in watching some football but not to busy. Ordered the app with 4 different items. All of it was delicious. Next time was a Tuesday. It was a bit busier but not overly busy. Both bartenders for each night were great and very friendly! Hoping to catch a UK basketball game in NYC some time and go back to Jacks to seen the BBN atmosphere first hand!!!
Hail Hail the Gangs All Here..💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚 Best Place in NYC to view the Glasgow Celtic Games. Always an experience watching Celtic play surrounded by strangers that stand on common ground.🏟⚽️🥅🏟⚽️🥅 🏴🇮🇪🏴🇮🇪 💚🤍🧡✨️💚🤍🧡✨️ 💚🤍🧡 Buy a drink, try some food, and Tip your bartenders!! Plenty of parking in front of bar when Celtic have a 7:00am kick off!
Came for a drink after dinner and it wasn't too crowded for a Thursday night. Got the last two seats at the end of the bar and enjoyed a drink while watching the end of the Yankees game. Bartender was solid and attentive even though he was alone behind the bar. Recommended!
This is my spot before Ranger games at MSG. Has a retro vibe to it and the food has never let me down. Reasonable prices for MHT. The bar is always packed but go to the back for dinner and have your beer there!
I love this bar. The bartenders are super chill, and the selection is great. They have Magners on tap and Powers whiskey. That goes far with me :-) Also, this is an ideal place to watch sporting events--especially UFC and boxing. The establishment is named after boxing legend, Jack Dempsey.
After a day of walking through the city, we needed a place to sit and eat a full meal. We sat at the bar where we met Kaitlin, an amazingly charming and funny bartender who took the best care of us. She recommended items, kept our glasses full, and made sure we felt welcome. The food was unreal— best bangers and mash outside Ireland, and prices that made sense for the time and place. Highly recommend this bar for a late afternoon drink and food, and if there’s a smiley redhead behind the bar with a raspy Irish dialect, that’s Kaitlin, and she’s amazing.
Super friendly staff. Leanne was awesome. Great pint of the black stuff
We visited this restaurant on Saturday 7th December around 3.30pm. We came as a family of four with 2 young children, we had just found out that our flight back to the UK that day had been cancelled. I would just like to say that the two ladies who served us were amazing! We were very stressed trying to sort out accommodation for the night and they were very helpful offering advise on places to stay, they brought paper and pens for my daughter and came back to see if we were OK, their friendly nature really helped to ease the kids who were very worried. Sorry we did not get their names but would like to thank them for making a very stressful situation better. We got home safely the next day and managed to sort accommodation that night. They are an asset to this business and the children really enjoyed their food. Thank you again.
4 stories of old school Manhattan pub. Great staff. Best place to watch Rugby in the city.
Stopped by for a few pints here recently while my wife and daughters were shopping. Glad i did. I went to 8 different pubs in NY over 2 days. This was easily the best. Young lad fresh out of Ireland was my bar-keep. Top gentleman! Good conversation, honest and could talk sports until the ugly lights come on ! Thankyou. Will be back for a Rangers game
It was awesome! Had banger and mash for the first time! It was unbelievably good!! The waitress is the person who suggested it! I was going for a burger and she talked me out of it! So glad she did!
Place is great to watch college football or Knicks games, Rinaldo is a great chef and hooked it up!
Food was great!! Service was great!! The upstairs is roomy with its own bar and bathroom!!
Found this bar by accident but was so stoked to eat here as it is iconic in the big apple. Ended up on the second floor (they have 4 floors!!) Where they had the LSU 'BAMA game on. Great place for some delicious Irish fare. I had the beef and stout pie and my friends had the Irish cheeseburger featuring a rasher of bacon on top of an amazing burger. The Irish stout stew was amazing!! So much flavor I ended up ordering bread to soak up the gravy left behind. Definitely recommend this bar.
(All my reviews are overall) Wasn't anywhere on the plans but was absolutely thrilled to find this place. Went in Thanksgiving and they had the Thanksgiving platter. Best turkey by far. Everything on that plate was absolutely delicious! Had TVs showing the Macy's parade and football games. Part bar part restaurant. That being said, was not loud at all. Very nice place and happy to have come across it! All around, amazing!
Great pub experience just right good burger and chili. Guinness good and cold. Good bartender.
Loved the place, myself and two brothers went there from Scotland early November 2025, Bar staff especially nieve and k lain ( hope I got that right, I called him colon.., its OK he laughted) were very professional and attentive, although k lain was very animated when celtic won .., or didn't it was very funny, we went back because of the staff, because of the reception we got, because they were lovely people, if you have that you have a great business, and we are talking about going back in 2027, a long way from Scotland.., but when you meet new friends it's hard not to go back and hopefully see them...😊
Was walking round new York and stumbled on this bar. Decided to pop in n get warm. We weren't disappointed, lovely bar, great staff, good drinks.
I cant remember the irish guys name behind the bar but his service is brilliant, he made an effort to chat with us. I will be back when I'm back in NYC!
The bartender was so nice & the place was awesome. It was a dive bar kinda feel. Easy to make friends
We had a stop here for food. We had chilli and fries which was fantastic. Not too spicy but with a little heat kick. Lovely service and staff were friendly and quick to be served.
Great bar! My go too before any Rangers game. Wonderful customer service, awesome Food with lots of space & TVs. They even open up the upstairs bars for Soccer or Rugby matches when requested.
So I ended up in this area twice this week & ended up stopping here for lunch both times. The service was excellent. The food was very good & it had a nice nostalgic atmosphere with old boxing photos decorating the place. I sat at the bar both times. There were live sports events on the televisions all around the 1st floor. (They have several & is a must go to for Saint Patrick’s day) The 1st visit this week I had one of the daily specials. An Octoberfest hamburger with fries (if I’m remembering the name correctly I had a few glasses of Jameson with my meal). On my 2nd visit this week I went with the small Guinness shepherds pie which was truly delicious. The bartender recommended adding the brown sauce to it & he was spot on. A very affordable place for lunch if you don’t get carried away with your bar bill lol.
A great drop in venue for a draft Beer. A great pint of Guinness for me in a 20oz Glass, as it should be. Barman called Ryan was great. Authentic Service. We went to Legends to eat, but returned to Demsey's on account of the service from Ryan. A great asset to your company. The NY Steak was better than the over priced Hard Rock Cafe and was perfect with a perfect pint of Guinness. Next time I'm in NY, I will be sure to visit again and recommend. 👍
As chill a pub as ever, stopped in for a quick pint before dinner and had a great time. The house ale is very good, more amberish in taste. Good draft selection, a nice clean inside, and a chill couple seats outside where we sat had me looking out to come back here in the future.

My wife and I came here for drinks during happy hour on our recent trip to NYC. The location was good and the atmosphere was great too. The only slight negatives were that the normal prices for draft beers were not advertised on the menu, so if you ordered something not included in happy hour you wouldn’t know how much it costs until you get the bill. I also didn’t like how gratuity was already included on the bill. Whilst I am from the UK and think the tipping culture in America is excessive, I would have tipped anyway as I know that is the practice in the States and so it is frustrating when gratuity is expected and is already added to the bill, especially when we had only visited for drinks.
Nice Irish pub serving decent selection of beer, spirits and wine. Walked in after work and found it to be buzzy with friendly service, will be back!
I'm just happy that they play football (soccer) games in that area, that's the major draw for me. The grub is decent, the prices are decent considering it's midtown and next to the Empire State Building and they've got no one outlet underneath the bar at each seat, that's an especially nice touch. Just don't expect a buyback (they may have never heard of them). *The Jack Demsey's Ale ain't half bad.
Food was good with a good selection to choose from. Presumed 20% tip is a bit off.
Popped in this past Saturday for a quick lunch. Old school bar with a warm ambiance. Decor is cool. Its not a huge place but there appears to be seating on 3 levels. We were on street level but add all that up and its sizable. Got the sliders and a Guinness ☘️. Both were great. Service was terrific as well.
I was with a small group of pre-teens waiting to tour the Empire State Building. We noticed this restaurant for its unique exterior design. \nWe approached a few sports bars nearby, and were ignore…
Got the shepherd's pie, with fries and a pint. It's a good portion and a good meal. Server was kind and prompt.

Nice food, pleasant staff, nice setting, huge portions. Had natcho' and chilli, tasted gd. Serve nice cider too, a taste of home.

The staff is great but after more than two recent visits it seems the beer tap lines need to be flushed or some of the kegs have been sitting for too long. The food menu is great! Their bone-in and boneless wings are delicious.
Walked into to see NFL divisional round. A vodka soda is $16 (1/17/26) and they weren’t playing game audio despite everyone on the floor watching the same game. Plenty of TVs tho.
This restaurant was nice but they forced a gratuity on my bill. I would have tipped her more but I don’t want a tip forced on an already high bill.
Food is not the best. I had Shepard’s pie, it was very dry and instant mash was used. Portion sizes are great but no flavour to meals. Won’t be going again. On the up side the young waitress who served us was really nice, very helpful and friendly.
Went there for a friend's birthday party on Saturday night. Atmosphere, drinks, and the service were exemplary for a midtown bar in particular was then having Golden Road Mango Cart on tap which is a great west coast beer and a favorite of mine . The food was the one let down. $24 for a cheese steak sandwich to only be served something less than 6 inches in total and then sliced in half is egregious. It tastes great but the portion size should have made it at least 50% less expensive. Overall a good experience, I'd just suggest eating elsewhere
We stopped in here for a shot on New Year’s Eve as we spotted it while passing by after checking out the nearby Empire State Building. As a boxing fan, I was intrigued. Wife liked the idea of going in for a quick shot, since we wet roaming the streets and had some time to kill. It was still late in the afternoon, so it wasn’t too busy at that time. The bar tender wasn’t very friendly, but not rude either - he was just indifferent. Wife and I each had a drink and with a tip, I had spent $40. I figured it was a New York City thing, but for what I spent on 2 drinks, I could have bought a whole fifth of Jim Beam Black label and had change left over. The had some boxing photos on the wall, but beyond that, it didn’t really seem to have anything to do with the champ (Jack Dempsey). Maybe it is named after the fish, which is named after the boxer… They should be paying royalties to the estate of Jack Dempsey for using his name for this pricy dive bar…
I visited this place with some colleagues, and it's a good spot to hang out. Our bill came out to be around $100. We were surprised to see the final charge was $125.50. We had already given a 10% tip, which should have made the total an even $110. It was odd to see the extra 50 cents, as we typically round up when adding a tip. When my colleague, who had checked the bill, asked the staff about the transaction, they said they couldn't even see a record of it. The situation was strange, especially since it was only a small amount of money.
I feel like this place has been here forever. At least longer than I have. Average menu, but you don't come for the food. Good bartenders who are quick on the draft. Cozy pub atmosphere. Easy locat…

Our server was great, and we really enjoyed the atmosphere and vibes there. However, the food was incredibly disappointing. The meals were around $20-25, not cheap, and really not great. The Guinness was good, but my guest and I had about a $90 tab for one Guinness each and a very disappointing meal.

They allow far too many people in for events, to the point it clearly has to be an egress issue for fire safety. It was actually comical how many people they let in for a ufc fight. The food sucks too.
Very rude and inconsiderate behavior from staff and management, I would not trust eating from here.
I cannot fully advise on food and ambient since I was scared away by awfully rude waitress. Two grumpy and pressing guys by the entrance told me 3 times that minimum purchase was $25 even though I heard them the first time and told them it was ok. After having to find a table by myself a rude waitress saw me and without greeting or saying a word threw the menu on my table, thanks but I won’t spend my money where I’m gonna be treated like that. Got up and left. Ended up at stout sports bar….. whole other world of customer service.
We came from the UK to NY with 3 kids - it’s like third time. We’ve always found Irish bars in particular to be so friendly for our family and in general, New Yorkers are so friendly And enjoy meeting our family. General manager Brian - what a let down! We dined here a few days ago and the Irish bar owner was amazing. We had a great chat about the kids and our trip here. When coming today to watch the English football, Brian was extremely rude! He made us feel so unwelcome and that a pushchair was such an issue (empty seats in many areas in front of our eyes) his response ‘welcome to new york’ He’s doing that amazing place no favours! Remember you were a child once Brian
The discrimination The manager of Jack Demsey’s displays towards people with disabilities is appalling. We entered the restaurant with 11 veterans with disabilities, 8 of which had service dogs to assist these veterans with their disabilities. The manager immediately showed our group horrible and downright rude behavior because of our service dogs. It was explained to him that it is ADA FEDERAL law that we are allowed access to the restaurant like anyone else. The manager continued to argue that the dogs are too much and will take up too much room. This discrimination escalated so much that group members began to have panic attacks and were forced to leave. On our way out the manager was telling us to have a nice day in a snide tone that was clearly mocking us. Jack Demsey’s, you just turned away 11 veterans with disabilities because we required medical devices (service dogs). This was the worst and most humiliating experience I have ever had and I DO NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. The restaurant is not ADA friendly and deserves a visit from the ADA in the future. Guess the restaurant only gives good customer service to people without disabilities.
1 server for the whole place and she is awful, has a terrible attitude and does not know the menu or even the soup of the day. She was actually delivering food and drinks with a mouthful of food. She would drop stuff abd run back to the bar and eat another chicken wing without checking on any of the guest. My wife and I had to ask for refills. Quite different than where we live. With the number of loud drunks (one table was thrown out) this is not a family friendly enviroment.
My friends and I came for the euros which was a $20 min spend per person. This was fairly advertised. We started at one table downstairs, closed out, and moved to a table upstairs and had a total spend of above $20 per person. Naturally we thought the two bar tabs could be merged and we were all good. However, the bartender refused to acknowledge the first tab based on policy, so the manager came up to ease the situation. I thought the manager would let us go but instead the manager also did not acknowledge our downstairs tab and told us we had to pay $20 per person or he’d call the police (???). Very strange escalation of a peaceful situation. At the end of the day $20 is not a big deal so you’d think Jack Demsey’s would side on good customer service…guess that was not the case and my friends and I will not be coming back here.
Came here to watch a game on the third floor and the waitress offered everybody a food menu except us ended up having to get our drinks at the bar waiting almost 30 mins to get the drinks. If I would have known I would have watched it somewhere else or just watched it at home
Had quite the experience. The food was fairly terrible, in terms of taste and temperature. The winner for us was the massive cockroach climbing up the wall by our table. When we caught it, we mentioned it to the server and he simply laughed and said “that’s New York”. I would absolutely give this place a miss.
There was a roach in my food. And not just 1 but two . The place smelled unclean from the beginning so we should’ve expected this . We alerted the waiter about it and they refused to fix it. Roach infested . I would not recommend
Did not have a pleasant experience with one of the bartenders, was served with animosity, no smile or hospitality, to then be questioned and almost pressed as to why I didn’t decide to tip for lackluster, may I say nonexistent customer service?
We dropped a candle. The waiter threatened me with physical violence. I acknowledge my fault, the waiter made a physical threat. Don’t go to this place!
The food basically is equivalent to microwaveable food . The service is so horrible here based on the way they treat certain customers . It has a very gloomy and dingy look to the place . I would not recommend. there’s so many better places to experience . Never again
IMAGINE, SIMPLY IMAGINE, requesting a song in 2026 such as bad bunny AND THAN GETTING A VISCERAL REACTION from the bartender saying no (after they accepted request such as simple plan, the killers) Service was cool until the hatred was displayed from the bartender than encouraged by the patrons.
My friend had a terrible experience at the bar last night. A server was extremely rude and threatening after a candle dripped wax. They were told to clean it, and when they were already trying to, the staff member came back and aggressively said, 'If you touch that again I swear to god.
I will never return to this racist establishment. After finding hair in my food, the manager proceeded to raise his voice and argue with me, suggesting that the hair couldn’t have possibly been their fault and may have been my eyelash or something…. it was clearly much longer than an eyelash and was not my hair texture. He then stormed off before I could even finish speaking. A simple apology would’ve sufficed, but the aggression and gaslighting reflected EXTREMELY poor customer service on top of dry tasteless food.
Went for dinner at 9.30 pm. The area for dining is at the back of the establisment behind the bar. It was way too warm inside and the noise from bar was really loud. The salmon and the mashed potatoes were dry and the salmon had a weird taste, way too salty and oily. ”Vegetables” were broccoli, which was the best part of the meal. When it was time to pay, you could either scan the qr code on the bill or you could pay with card. Since there was no Wi-Fi and no mobile data at the back where everyone was sitting, we chose to pay with card. The waiter took the card and came back with a receipt with 20% tip, which we did not think was okay for service and food we received, but at that point it was too late. We were just really struggling with the heat and noise and wanted to get out.
Came in to watch the Anthony Joshua Vs Jake Paul fight. The cover was $10 and drinks were $15. We started watching the fight and out of nowhere the tv froze and we came to a realization they’re using a bootleg streaming service so we ended up paying a $10 cover charge to watch a fight that was consistently lagging on us. At the end, I understand businesses need to make money so they implement cover charges however it’s not about the $10 it’s about the principle. If you’re going to charge me $10 to watch a boxing fight then at least provide the service you promised to provide. Horrible service all around. The bar manager didn’t even compensate anyone with free drinks, etc.
WORST BAR EVER! WORST WAITER! I had the single worst bar experience I have ever had in NYC at Jack Dempsey's, and it was entirely due to a deeply unprofessional and hostile waiter. A member of our party was trying to quickly and politely clean up a spill on the table, and a staff member immediately jumped in with an aggressive, threatening confrontation. He explicitly stated that if we touched the chair again, he would "do something bad," followed by demanding that we leave the establishment. The language he used was vulgar and abusive. This waiter's behavior was completely unprovoked and unacceptable. To be directly threatened by staff simply for attempting to clean our own table is outrageous. This kind of aggressive, hostile behavior and appalling lack of basic customer service completely ruined our evening. I advise anyone considering visiting to beware of the toxic atmosphere created by this individual. It was an appalling display, and management needs to address this staff member's conduct immediately. Food was acceptable, but the Service and Atmosphere were destroyed by this incident.
