I've been going to Uptown Bourbon for five years. It's my heaven on earth.
I really enjoyed Uptown Bourbon. I went after a date and it ended up being the perfect spot to end a relaxed night out. The vibe is cozy and intimate without feeling stuffy. The service was friendly, the bartender was lovely and even let us sit and be served at a small table although they were crowded. I had a glass of rose wine and it was great and poured generously. I would definitely come back.
Fun and affordable bar. Friendly locals make you feel welcome. The music is LPs played on a turntable behind the bar.
Came here for the first time in a few years and was delighted by how the place has evolved. Even for a Tuesday night we were shoulder to shoulder with many other patrons enjoying the open air through the facade and the music played on vinyl. Shout out to Shea and Eduardo and incredible prices for the city.
A good selection of spirits and beers, with an incredible vinyl selection, however I am most impressed by the excellent Josephs that are employed here. The food sucks though.
Love the place , they just need a new DJ. Upset that they have one vinyl cd you can’t request to play cause it’s the end of the night song. Like how can you play the same thing every darn day to close shop. Other then that place it nice to have a few drinks with friends.
Absolutely loved our experience! Cat was ahmazing and was so friendly. Definitely a 10 outta 10 experience and will hopefully come back on our next adventure ! Joseph was absolutely great as well. If you have a chance to take a late night drink here definitely do it!
What a wonderful place to have a drink! Nice bourbon selection (only place in the area serving Blanton's), in addition to wine, & cocktails. Vinyl music always playing & because it's a small place, there's always neighborly conversation as it is a locals hangout. The post pandemic staff is so friendly & always there to offer a great time. Chris, Joseph, Kat, Keith, Peter, Seth, & Topher are some of the best bartenders in NYC. Highly recommend! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Bourbon Street in Harlem NY. Tiny place with a lots of souls. Turn table, old rare records. Classics playing. Bring your own records if you like. Play it and take it with you or leave it in-house for next time you visit. This is one of the amazing spot in Hamilton heights. Small in space big energy. The old and the new happening right here. Bourbon, whiskey, rye, gin, mules, old fashioneds, martini calls that is worthy of the upcoming bond movie ( slightly dirty with 3 olives) # specific cocktails and everything that makes great ambience.
Great cozy spot for bourbon, cheap beer, and tunes playing on a record player. The service was friendly and efficient. They have a solid menu of bourbon forward drink options. Also, it's hard to pass up a happy hour where beer is $2, wine is $5, and the cocktail of the week is $10. Seemed to be a mostly local crowd which is always a nice thing in New York.
This is a reliably good bar, with a local, cozy atmosphere. My boyfriend first introduced me to it, and I love bringing people here. Love the vinyl selections. One of my top picks in the neighborhood. (Lion’s Tail is my drink!)
It's usually a good time here. The size is the only thing that could be better. It can be hard to maneuver. But i love the staff, the drinks, and the records they play.
Uptown bourbon is a nice chill spot that spin classic records which we rarely see anymore. Depending on the day you go, the staff is extremely humble and nice and makes some great drinks. But when the place gets busy it can be a tight squeeze, smartest move to to get to the table near the window and bathroom and hold it down. First come first chair, One day I went I was hanging with the Wrong kind of people and they spiked my drink, the bartender didn't know an thought I was being weird yelling and stuff, but I was actually drugged and would never do such a thing. Watch your drink in these dark places. Have your bartender know your stepping away. I wasn't so lucky That day. This was my go to spot for the best Evan Williams and ginger. Or they would make a really nice signature drink. I almost tried every drink on the menu. We shall see whats next. Be safe out there Cheers 🥃.
my wife insisted we go there and have a few drinks. i kept reminding her i don't drink liquor, just beer. So we went anyways because, hey she wears the pants in the family. Anyways it's okay if you like small dives. Here you have to sit pretty close to strangers and make eye contact since the place is so small. i just want to have my drink in the back and not talk. But you can't do that here. If you like making small talk with strangers then you'll love the place. I just want to mind my own business and drink my beer...is that too much to ask? the Beer selection was okay too..
Very low key, small and airy spot. These types of bars are not easy to find uptown. Went there for a happy hour and Barry White and Michael Jackson vinyl records playes on their record player . Very good for people watching from their wide open frontage.
Was a great bar until one of their regulars, anta, attempted to have me physically assaulted in the bar due to mistaken identity, and the owners are apparently okay with that, despite a strict ban on fighting, and still welcome her. A shame, it was a good bar and I was friends with all the staff. Miss the place but won’t be back until the owners live up to their principles.
I love this hidden gem but was sadly disappointed in my recent visit. Imagine enjoying your cocktails when the bartender comes over mid sip to tell you that you have to leave. I asked him why and I got NO answer. I chose to quickly finish my drink and left. Before I left and paid my tab, I was informed my seat met left and did not pay his. I kindly agreed to pay for that drink. Its ridiculous the bartender let him leave and not pay for his drink. I didn't even get a thank you for doing that. Just rude. I also recall on ny recent visit a patron told me how the bartender asked him to leave weeks prior. I also want to point out that this is person is black just like myself. Its unsettling to think a white male bartender has done with to someone else who looks like me. This is Harlem a historically BLACK cultured neighborhood. Keep your underlined racism out of our neighborhood.
photo: shoutout to Joe for letting me borrow their rose in the name of hauntingly beautiful aesthetics x — how did it go from “my bar” to “dead to me”? i’d like to start this off by acknowledging its a lengthy read, but I’d like my review to be accurate & encompass the mixed feelings I have about this place — being a nyc newbie, an autistic with a need for safe space & routine to function, a full-time nightowl, & student near less than idle studying spots after 6pm, leaving me with little to no options in terms of working productivity. so when I found a little hole in the wall within walking distance that had dimmed lights, some tables, a lively atmosphere, vinyl records, caring bartenders who watch my drinks if I need to step away, AND late hours - I had decided it would be my go-to spot. I accomplished a great deal of my work there, was met with tons of welcoming energy, & even connected with some soft souls. However, out of ~10 bartenders - the energy was sorta effy around one - which I didn’t take to heart as the most important part is feeling respected which I did - till I didn’t. (there was a previous minor confrontation that was unprovoked & aggressive that I brushed off as not personal as “we ALL have bad days”). But during my last visit, I was doing my usual work, minding my business when I saw another regular near closing time, exchanged hellos and headed out. Me & this person were the only two female individuals standing (or rather they were tipsily sitting) outside the bar. When I was attempting to leave, I asked whether they were okay to get home; their response of slurred speech and inability to find a wallet or phone in their bag, & with many other individuals circling around her told me that they clearly were not. As a human being that cares about the well-being of others, the last thing I was going to do was leave someone in an extremely vulnerable position without doing my best to assist. While I was unable to get them a ride back, I figured I would at least wait by until they had their phone back from inside the bar as a means to safety- (i saw the phone on them inside & calling it confirmed it remained there). After they knocked & waited upfront for a little while, they had decided to check the back and see if they could get their phone that way. I accompanied them along with another kind patient individual who tagged along after watching the events unfold & wanted to ensure we both got back safe. We reached the back, in her state, she was loooouud on her way up the stairs - to which I asked her to lower her voice as the workers would be doing her a favor. I stood by the other individual at the end of the stairs in the back; waiting in silence. To my dismay, after they had retrieved their phone and as they walked down, one of the bartenders who was NOT serving that night was coming down the stairs yelling at the top of their lungs that “I” specifically should not be here. when I tried to respond in a calm voice “we’re leaving.” My response was drowned out by their continued yelling pointed at myself alone. not at the person walking down the stairs infront of them (also a known regular). not at the person beside me. just me. Spewing things like “we had told you not to come around this side” insinuating I had done it before or even wanted to be in this situation anymore than they did .…—— —— review completed in attached picture.
