I know new York has a lot of good Thai food but I absolutely loved wayla. The cocktails were remarkable with great aromatics and the impeccable presentation. We had sway wayla, old fashioned and land of smiles. I got a slice of ginger clipped to my glass with a cute miniature clothes pin! We were food hopping so we got a couple of small plates to share and the food was amazing. We had the Karipup Gai which was a mildly spicy, golden and flaky chicken curry puff. We also got the the poh pia puh, an elevated spring roll with crab and truffle that was crispy and delicious. The server was very friendly. I will definitely come back here.
One of my favorite restaurants in nyc. Especially love their appetizers (chicken wings have amazing flavor, calamari is light and crispy and they fill the plate!) drinks are great, and bartender/ overall service is wonderful. This is a spot I’ll continue to frequent.
The menu has definitely changed since I was last here… and for the BETTER! It’s wonderful and so diverse. I noticed that a lot of their food is gluten free, which is great for a lot of my friends who struggle with intolerance. I particularly liked the chive pancake, it was fluffy and the sauce was soooo good. I also liked the Thai beef jerky, it has a sweet and spicy flavor. This place is a favorite of mine for sure!
We had such a great time at Wayla. We sat at the bar and James helped us pick some great dishes, along with giving us recs on the cocktails. The food here is so flavorful & gorgeously presented, as are the cocktails and wine list, and I already can't wait to come back. Sitting at the bar, it was great to learn about the cocktails and unique ingredients from James. You really can't go wrong with anything you order here, and I'm looking forward to being back to taste and sip more off the menu. Thanks James and the entire staff who made it a great night!
I came here with family and friends, and the restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere. Both the staff and the manager were very friendly and welcoming. I especially loved the chicken wings—they were full of flavor and absolutely delicious. Paired with their cocktails, it was a perfect combination! The lobster Pad Thai was excellent and truly made me feel like I was in Thailand, while the crab fried rice was light, fresh, and full of seafood flavor. If you enjoy durian, you absolutely must try their durian sticky rice for dessert. The durian is incredibly fragrant, rich, and sweet—it really makes you want more. The mango pudding is also delicious! This is definitely a restaurant I would happily visit again with family and friends.
Amazing after-work spot with incredible Thai flavors! I had such a great time at Wayla, the vibe is cozy, lively, and perfect for an after-work hangout. The food was the highlight of the night. I absolutely loved the Khao Pad Pu the lump crab fried rice was super flavorful, loaded with tender crab, and perfectly seasoned. The Sen Chan Pad Lobster was another standout, with sweet, juicy lobster paired with thin rice noodles, peanuts, chives, and egg. So delicious! Service was friendly, the atmosphere was fun, and everything felt welcoming. Definitely a new favorite Thai spot in the city. Can’t wait to come back! 🍽️✨
Wayla brings the soul of Thai home cooking into a polished space that still feels relaxed and inviting. The energy is lively, the cocktails are playful, and every dish pops with layers of flavor. The Lobster Curry were incredible—the fish cooked beautifully and the lobster so rich. But the showpiece for me was the roasted duck paired with a bold green curry… tender, aromatic, and deeply satisfying. If you’re exploring Chinatown and craving something vibrant and comforting, this spot delivers. Dont forget to get the durian sticky rice for the dessert.
If I could give Wayla more than 5 stars, I would. We had an exceptional experience! Every dish was fresh, hot and delicious. We enjoyed: Nua Sa Wan - thai style crispy beef jerky Khao Krep Pak Mor - crepe dumpling Gang Keaw Wan Ped - roasted duck green curry Sen Chan Pad Crab - crab pad Thai Beautiful plating, generous portions equals win-win! Looking forward to our next visit.
The food was pretty good — interesting flavours, different across the several dishes we ordered, and good textures too. We ordered the beef jerky, beef curry, papaya salad, seafood pad char, and crab sen chan pad pu. The menu had many dishes I wasn’t familiar with, but our server was patient and thorough when it came to explaining everything and helping us choose our order. The beef jerky was a surprise favourite with a crispy texture, and the seafood dishes were great too. Relatively quick service and nice atmosphere. It did get pretty loud as the evening progressed, but easy to talk earlier in the evening.
We had a lovely brunch at Wayla! If you’re vegetarian, you’ll be happy to know there’s a wide variety of delicious options to choose from. The restaurant has a cool, modern vibe indoors and a cozy, inviting atmosphere outside — perfect for any mood. We started with a few appetizers, and they were absolutely amazing. If you’re a curry fan, you’re in for a treat, you should try “Karipup Gai“ - thai chicken curry puff . The crispy mushrooms- “Hed Kua Kluen” were a standout — perfectly seasoned and incredibly flavorful. “Gui Chai Tod”- chive pancake had a creative twist that we really enjoyed, and the crunchy “Nua Sa Wan “-crispy beef jerky was so good, we couldn’t stop eating it! It had just the right amount of spice to keep you coming back for more. Highly recommended
Great place! Highly recommend it. The food is flavorful, fresh, and extremely tasty. Everything I ate was delicious, but a surprise highlight was the chive pancakes (Gui Chai Tod). And my favorite out of the whole course was the Mango sticky rice. I think I have found my new best dessert!
We love the Brunch here was just spot on the appetizers were light and tasty like the summer rolls and Mushrooms and the Beef Jerky with the Calamari being a staple. We love the brunch items and new edition to the menu. Especially the chive pancakes and shrimp Donuts, cannot wait to try more.
My wife and I had a great dinner experience with friends! We ordered several sides and mains. Highlights included Gui Chai Tod (chive pancakes), Karipup Gai (Thai chicken curry puff), Nua Sa Wan (Thai style crispy beef jerky), Nua Yang (12 oz marinated NY strip steak. We had the delicious Mango Sticky Rice for dessert. Since we were doing a dry month, we ordered two mocktails, Ginger Pear and Cucumber Thyme, with our meal. Both were well balanced and not overly sweet. We will be coming back to try more dishes and their signature cocktails!
Wayla NYC – Flavorful Bites & Refreshing Sips Wayla NYC delivers bold Thai flavors with a modern twist. The cucumber mocktail is light and cooling, while the ginger mocktail brings a zesty, invigorating kick—both are must-tries for non-drinkers. The beef patties are juicy and perfectly seasoned, offering a satisfying bite. The mango salad with crispy anchovies is a standout—sweet, salty, and spicy in all the right ways. For a plant-based option, the tofu and green beans stir-fried in chili paste is savory, aromatic, and full of texture. A perfect spot for flavorful food and mocktails that are purposefully designed and perfected. One of the best Thai food places I’ve been too in New York City. Worth coming downtown to visit.
amazing. fantastic thai. some of the best in the city and great for big groups. we got almost everything for apps and mains and the mango mousse with sticky rice. highlights were the branzino and the chili line chicken wings. the curries were also amazing. amazing atmosphere and incredible service. we will be back.
Loved this little gem before menu refresh. Love it even more now with some fantastic additions (thankfully the crispy chicken wings are still on the menu. you'll need more than one order. trust me) As always, bartender has put together some great cocktails with interesting ingredients. He's also great with bespoke requests! Our group shared several plates (pics included) and while I would order any and all of them again, standouts for me were the fried shimeji mushroom app, the wok-fried shrimp, and the strip steak. Love their patio space (great for weekend brunch on a beautiful day!) We love bringing our out-of-town guests here. It's always a hit. Thai food like they've never had it!
If you're craving authentic Thai cuisine with bold flavors and a welcoming atmosphere, Wayla is a hidden gem that deserves your attention. The décor is elegant yet cozy, with traditional Thai accents that makes you feel you are on a Thai yard eating with friends. We started with the fried calamari and mango salad, which were so tasty. That mango salad with anchovies was a great combo between salty and sweet, so delicious. For main course we had the fried branzino with a red curry sauce, the crab Pad Thai and Duck on curry sauce. Now the duck, wow, never been a fan of duck but this duck with curry was so tender and crispy and not gamy and that curry sauce complemented it very well. Definitely recommend it. Service was friendly and efficient. Our server was happy to adjust spice levels and allergies and offered great recommendations for both food and drinks. The mocktails were a great balance for the food. The mango sticky rice dessert was the ideal sweet finish—ripe mango slices over warm, coconut-infused sticky rice. Whether you're a Thai food enthusiast or trying it for the first time, Wayla delivers a memorable dining experience.
I love this place very much but didn’t get a chance to come back as much. But since i heard they have new menu, me and my best friends were so excited and the food was absolutely delicious also new cocktails I really love. Staff are super nice and and helpful make the whole dinning experience even more fun
I would love to say 5 stars but i got some points to explain here. Their food was amazing, my friend and I order Karipup Gai, Kung Kathiem and Crab Curry. The Karipup Gai was okay, and its only 2 pcs. 😭😭😭 Kung Kathiem was good, Crab Curry was even better, but server forgot to ask me the level of spiciness or trying to warn me about the spiciness. Eventho its nothing for me, rhe spicy good for me, but still server should asked first. Also, the curry is a lil bit too much too much i think, if only they can reduce the curry soup for 25% less will be better, because I can even tell which the crab as they put some shredded crab meat into it too. I want to eat those shreded crab meat but its floode too much with the curry soup. I just wish they will reduce jsut lil bit like 25% less. Oh one more thing. The thai milk ice tea. OMG, it feels like I bought from Bangkok street food. Too many ice like too many ice. 😭😭😭 Please dont be cheap since you are a quite nice restaurant, I expecting the amount of ice less than what the cheap place do. Its like the whole glass was ice. Oh other than that, the server which also the bartender he was super nice. 🫶🫶🫶
