Been coming here for years! The quality is always consistent and generous. Sometimes we dine in however most of the time we pickup and eat at the beach. The entrees are great as well as their generous lunch special! Combo salad and extra shrimp fried rice is a must!
You literally HAVE to go here. It’s a Newport staple. The Combo Salad is legendary, if getting takeout get the crunchies and dressing on the side and add once home. The lunch special (choose 2 of half chicken fried rice/half salad/half wonton soup) is what to do. Weekend brunch to with bottomless mimosas great for a Sunday!
It still stumps me how a white man owns such an amazing healthy yet delicious Chinese restaurant! Flavors are amazing and all his dumplings are made with chicken, which is hard to tell because it’s done so well. Service is always friendly and attentive, which shows this place has wonderful culture amongst its staff.
Total goldmine. The staff? Seriously, the nicest people ever, always up for a chat and know their menu backwards and forwards. It's got that perfect buzz – busy enough to know it's good, but not fighting for a table. And the food? Fresh, fast, and just plain tasty, whether you're grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a chill meal. Honestly, it's just a super relaxed, good vibes kinda place.
Wow, drove by for years and finally ate here. Blown away how good the food is. Also a great value. We ordered the Ho Sum salad with chicken size large. Literally 4 people can share this. Also ordered the Mu Sho with pork. Also unbelievable how good of a value this place is. We will definitely be back!
The food tastes extremely fresh. Service was fast. Martinis were great. Cha Sui Bao: 8/10 meat to bun ratio is off Shanghai Spring Rolls: 10/10 BBQ Pork Lo Mein: 8/10 Too much noodle, now enough meat Pho - Phun Noodle Soup: 10/10 Chicken Lettuce Wrap: 7.5/10 Chicken was good, lettuce wasn’t green
Obsessed with this place and can't wait to go back!!! The ho sum salad is to die for and that's only a half order so can't imagine what a full order looks like!! And only salad I've met that tastes even better the next day..dressing on and all.. fried rice probably one of the best I had..chicken schuwein amazinngg as well as the dumplings...literally cannot wait to go back to get the other half of the menu..can't forgot about the pork Lo mein..SO GOOD!!!
This place is absolutely amazing. If you haven't been here before, you must try it out! The staff is incredibly friendly and the food...well let's just say it's "heavenly". If you haven't been here before, make sure you get the Combo Salad (the large is huge!). Two of my favorite must-gets every time I go, is the Combo Salad and Poached Wrapped Won-Tons (If you like spicy)! You honestly can't go wrong with anything!
Decided to pop in for a quick stack during happy hour. Very pleased with my dumplings and glass of wine. Although my server was a bit abrupt and not that friendly but I was a quick in and out customer. I would return again if I was in the area.

Newport Beach staple. Creative fusion Asian and California. Coconut shrimp is some of the best Ive had. Prices are reasonable too.
I had the lunch special, which is a great deal - half mixed salad with vegetable fried rice - for under $15. Large portions; I had to take the rice home. Mixed a little chili pasted with my salad and liked the added kick!

Stopped in while walking by for happy hour. I had some dumplings that were tasty and a glass for wine for a special deal. They also had a chopped salad that looked very good and they kindly gave me a little sample.l and it indeed tasty. The place looked like it was a local favorite with plenty of people coming and going and getting take out.
The Sesame chicken salad has a better dressing than the Ho Sum (ginger) chicken salad. But the Ho Sum salad has better ingredients. So I recommend getting the combination salad. The hot kitchen operates way slower than the cold kitchen, so I highly recommend starting with a salad first, and feel free to order everything at the same time because the hot items will arrive way after the cold items. Also get a side of sesame dressing because it goes great with everything from the lettuce wraps to the dumplings. The salads are huge - a half size salad could easily feed 3 to 4 people. While the full size salad feeds 6 to 8 people! The soups are nice too. The hot and sour soup is great. The wonton soup has a nice rich broth and comes with the soft boiled chicken dumplings that are also available as Dim Sum. I love the red sauce that comes with the "Poached Wrapped Wontons" (which is really dimsum soft boiled chicken dumplings), and it's only mildly spicy. The quenelles have the same great chicken filling inside but are just different shape. The chicken potstickers are good, while the shrimp potstickers are average. The Ho Sum dumplings are just average and have somewhat of a Greek flavor to them with the minced herbs sauce. The combination fried rice is somewhat flavorless and needs soy sauce. The Lo Mein noodles are also somewhat flavorless, but are improved by asking for a side of Ho Sum BBQ sauce which is actually their home made version of Asian Hoisin sauce. By the way this place is very loud. It's a small place, but the sound bounces off the walls in a major way.
January 2017: 4-stars for what it is - a low key, fun, casual, salad and California-Asian cuisine restaurant very popular with locals for dine-in and take out. The restaurant recently reopened after being closed for over a year following a kitchen fire. Prices are reasonable, customers are nice, and service is friendly. Their salads are large (overflowing) and extremely popular. People also love their dumplings, noodle dishes, and California-Chinese preparations.

Fun and light Chinese/ Asian casual dining. Great salads.
Love this place, it's been here for years. Love the ho sum salad and dumplings. It's not authentic, but it is delicious. Great little, casual sit down place. Atmosphere is awesome, since the beach is down the street.

İt is a Chinese restaurant with Chinese food , I don't know what bistro name stands for. Average food .... terrible service like delivering your soup after fifteen minutes than you have to go down to pick up for your spoon ...

I’d heard great things about the combo salad, but I was highly disappointed. I have no idea what the hype is about. It’s a bunch of lettuce with a little chicken and minimal flavor. Staff was very kind, however, but overall will not be back due to the food. Was also very unimpressed with the orange chicken.

I ordered takeout from the restaurant, which we’ve loved since it opened. Unfortunately, the experience this time was disappointing, especially since the order taker was not present. My husband and I told the staff twice that we wanted brown rice, but they didn’t honor that request. Instead, we received white rice that was very smelly, along with tasteless orange chicken. It was disappointed experiences.
If you expect authentic Chinese food, do not go here. No MSG, little spice, meat not velvetized. It was bland, bland, bland. Including the soy sauce which absolutely han zero typical unctuousness or salt. Decent, clean, small space, with a US Cafe/Bistro vibe. Didn't see anything Chinese in there. Good friendly service.

1. The people who work there are super nice so no issues there. Really friendly and engaging. 2. If you like food that has flavor, this may not be the place for you. Any flavor. This food is freakishly void of flavor. Like they have a process for sucking the flavor out of the ingredients. It’s kind of crazy. Oh well. Really wanted to like it. BTW don’t get the orange chicken. It’s about 90% rice with chicken pebbles on top.
