Fantastic meals! The biscuits were out of this world with a crunchy top and tender inside. The shrimp and grits was phenomenal! The home fries with the omelette were so good. The server was very personable and responsive to everything we needed. It was an upscale experience in line with the elevated menu prices. Well worth your next intimate rendezvous!
Kinda got turned around and discovered Manuel's driving by. My 1st time here and I will definitely be coming back. I had the corn truffle soup and Norwegian Croque with fries. It was so delicious. The outdoor seating is very nice, quiet and comfortable. I can't say enough about the Chantilly Berry cake. Just that I should have taken it to go🥰 Overall, a very enjoyable afternoon meal in a small corner of North Augusta that felt like I was someplace else. My waitress Kaylie was awesome, gave me great options and was attentive. Definitely worth turning around. Will definitely be back.
THEY ARE SUCH A MUCH FRIENDLY PLACE. THEY WERE EVEN VERY ATTENTIVE TO MY DOG, ROXIE. THEIR CAKES ARE TO DIE FOR. THEY TASTE THE SAME WHEN I WAS A CHILD. SO SMOOTH AND FLAVORFUL FOOD. WOULD RECOMMEND AND THEY ARE PET FRIENDLY. THANKS TO A VERY ATTENTIVE STAFF. LORD BLESS EVERYONE WHO READS THIS...
Manuel's blew my husband and I away tonight! This is the perfect date night spot! We will absolutely be coming back here for birthdays, dates, and special events! The atmosphere was perfect: cozy, quiet, calm, and great music. The food was perfect! We got the filet and New York strip meals paired with a red sangria. Make sure to ask for the special sauce for their French Fries! It's so much better than ketchup (it reminds me of Thousand Island sauce). I also thoroughly enjoyed how fresh the caprese salad was and ate it all by myself. For dessert, my husband got Oreo Cheesecake and I got their limited-time chocolate creme brulee. I am so happy we tried this place!! I felt completely in the moment and look forward to coming back here. The neighborhood you drive through to get to the restaurant sets the perfect small-town scene. Thank you for the experience!
I have enjoyed every experience I’ve had here! The food is very good, I’m partial to the turkey pesto with fries. I returned later and got the croque monsieur, the flavor was great. The outdoor seating is great when the weather is nice, also. The only thing I didn’t love was the iced latte, it was a little watered down. Also, just know that they add 20% automatic gratuity to larger parties without mentioning it before you get the bill. Overall, this is a lovely choice of a lunch spot!
Always a amazing food. Atmosphere was nice even on a cloudy day. That staff always goes out of their way to make it a special experience.
It was our first time at this restaurant. Earnest invited us inside the moment we arrived at the front door of Manuel's Bread Cafe and he was an excellent waiter with amazing recommendations on food and desserts! We enjoyed our shrimp and grits, fried ravioli, salmon burger with fries, and fudge cake! We had a great view of the kitchen, while sitting at the bar. Our experience was great because of Ernest's friendly & efficient service and attention. Thank you for hiring him.
Food was delicious with perfect portion sizes. We came during a slow time but still had a reservation just in case. Server was very attentive. The restaurant is located in a beautiful, clean neighborhood. Indoor and outdoor seating available.
Great place to eat in Hammonds Ferry. The service from Tammy was absolutely outstanding. You could tell she was definitely a veteran at Manuel’s. And even seeing other servers interact with the patrons was comforting to experience. Shout out to Sarah and Reese, they treat you like family and make sure everything is up to par everytime. The food was delicious and I ate my sandwich so quick. The fries are not my style being that they were double fried, a bit too crispy for me but good flavor. The Red Velvet and Blueberry Streusel cake are to die for. The dishes were plated beautifully as well. Definitely a go to for North Augusta.
Manuel’s Bread Cafe offers an excellent dining experience with amazing food, friendly and attentive waiters, and a cozy atmosphere. A great spot for a satisfying meal! I even left my credit card and they called me to let me know lol.
Not bad. Our hotel said it was Italian and we expected that. It’s not that at all. We were impressed and pleasantly surprised with the food options and quality. Food very good. Desserts spectacular.
We went for our anniversary and enjoyed it so much, my hubby said, "We need to come more often." Our server surprised us with the best cake board ever! ❤️ TY, all for making our day even more special. It was a lunch date; it was AMAZING. The food is fresh and tasty. They have lunch specials, their staff is friendly, and the service is excellent, but what stands out to me the most is the delicious desserts! 😋 🥰 We are definitely going back just for that! If you love coffee (or a cocktail) and cake, you need to go to Manuel's Bread Cafe. It's in a great neighborhood. However, parking may be tight during peak hours and weekends, so plan it out. I recommend making reservations if you go Friday-Sunday.
Had the steak au poivre and let me tell you, i would choose it over a board at Brinkleys all day long. The atmosphere is great, service was excellent. The menu has everything, and there’s so much in the menu i want to go back and try. Even their desserts are made in house and the list is huge. This place is so legit.
Sat outside on beautiful street. Got appetizer and mushroom soup since they were out of Asparagus potato. Salmon was good and fresh and mushroom soup was tasty. Have local beers. Great waitress who was very attentive
Manuel's Bread Cafe is a very nice spot to relax and have a great meal! Their outdoor seating area is perfect for soaking up some sun while enjoying their scrumptious food, but watch out for the mosquitoes. The service is top-notch, and although the prices are a bit steep, we had a great dinner.
Food is always cooked to perfection. I enjoy the trout salad amd the truffle fries. Not to mention the plethora of cakes. The location and the service alone is a perfect 10. The ambiance, the French music amd the decor feels like a cozy restaurant in Paris.
Took my doggo on a chilly walk and decided to stop for a lunch. The outside tables each had a blanket for patrons to use if they were cold. The server greeted me and got Eleanor a biscuit with a bowl of water while I looked over the menu. The food was fresh, fast, and delicious. It's a little pricey, but I would rather pay a bit more to support a local business that isn't a chain. I did share a few bites with Eleanor of my French Dip. She and I both enjoyed it!
Great food and quaint and cozy restaurant. Small select menu to choose from. Steak Frite was amazing.
As usual, we had a wonderful experience at Manuel's. The service is exemplary and the food is delicious. I recommend you make reservations, but we didn't today and were able to sit at a delightful table outside.
Truly amazing breakfast/brunch! What a nice way to start your Sunday morning with crème brûlée French toast! The cakes were great, as was my wife's croque mademoiselle! We'll definitely be coming back! **UPDATE** Came back, still great food! ❤️
Love my experience at Manuel's Bread Cafe. The food was very good and taste. The service was also fabulous. I had a Wasabi barbecue burger with kimchi mayo, fries, a side salad, and caramel latte. My appetizer was fried ravioli with marinara sauce and pesto. Delicious! The atmosphere was quaint and cozy. Nestled in a charming upcoming neighborhood not far from a gorgeous park with riverfront view!
We always enjoy Manuel's! The service was excellent last evening. Our waiter was friendly and efficient! The meals for our party of five were delicious!!!
My husband and I came here for a “happy hour” however no happy hour to be had. We ended up ordering appetizers and drinks. The appetizers were super filling! We ended with Dessert. I highly recommend the duck poutine! It smelled so good when it arrived at our table that we dug right in and I forgot to photograph it but I’ll post proof of just how good it was! The Amoretto cake is moist, sweet and beautiful to look at. It was almost too sweet to finish. The patio is a lovely spot to sit and enjoy your company— my certainly was worth it! Spending afternoons like this with my husband are some of my absolute favorites. We’ll be back!
The fried ravioli was very enjoyable! They have a brunch menu on weekends too. Cakes were delicious. Nice outdoor seating and friendly staff.
Everything I have ordered here has been amazing, the first time I went I ordered the French dip sandwich and it was the best one I have had in my life. The French onion soup is also amazing. This is located right in the middle in a really cool neighborhood!
I love loved the nightime outdoor ambiance! My server Reece was attentive, fun, pleasant, and efficient. He made me feel like family. The dessert, espresso, champagne, and welcoming conversation with my server made tonight the perfect nightcap on a beautiful night out. I plan to return during my visits to North Augusta.
Enjoyed a weeknight dinner here. Try the fried 3 cheese ravioli, lamb, and steak. The bread is warm and delicious! There were so many cake options for dessert. The chocolate cake was great.
The food and service were absolutely on point! I just don’t particularly care for the cramped quarters inside the restaurant. I know it’s not their fault they can only do what they can do, I just don’t like being cramped. But the food was seriously 10/10!
Dined outdoor, excellent trout sandwich and salad. Whole grain roll, excellent blue cheese dressing. Our waitress, Marshail, was excellent, attentive, and pleasant.
We had a memorable date night at Manuel’s, our table was ready as soon as we arrived.(Reservation through Resy). The server Kristen was very sweet, the food and drinks were on point. We shared the Steak Au Poivre for two, it was one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten!!, the potatoes au gratin were excellent as well. The entire experience took about 1.5 hours which was perfect for the time we had. We’ll be back soon. Thank you for a wonderful dinner.
A cute French vibe tucked inside a quaint neighborhood giving me that cozy intimate setting I'm always looking for. And the servers! I feel like we could totally be friends if I was cool/extroverted enough to attempt it 😅. The French onion soup paired perfectly with our croque monsieur on a rainy afternoon. And the cake sampler is the only way to try their delectable variety, though the pistachio cake will continue to delicately haunt my dreams for the foreseeable future.
Good food, good service, good atmosphere. Tables might feel close if it's very crowded or you're clautrophobic. I love it. It's our Christmas Eve Go To.
✨ Stopped in North Augusta, SC on our way to Atlanta and found this adorable hidden gem near the water — Manuel’s Bread Café! 🍞🍔 We’d heard it was a must-try local favorite, and it did not disappoint! 🙌 Their grass-fed burger, crispy fries, and house-made aioli were absolutely incredible! 😋 Such a cute little spot off the square, cozy and full of charm — clearly a local favorite since they even asked if we had reservations (thankfully they squeezed us in!). 💕 #ManuelsBreadCafe #NorthAugustaEats #FoodieFinds #RestaurantReview #TravelEats #FoodieAdventure #GrassFedBurger #SouthernCharm #HiddenGem #FoodLovers #TravelWithPurpose #Yum #EatLocal
I have visited for breakfast and lunch. The food is delicious and well seasoned and flavored. The duck confit salad mirrors dishes that I’ve had in France. I recommended the shrimp and grits as well as the cake slices This restaurant is a must!
Wow! This place was incredible. I cannot believe how much food they gave us. We group sat outside for dinner on a Friday night. Everyone loved their meal. I had the soup of the day and the chicken. The waiter was kind and thoughtful, but he did seem a little awkward, maybe new? The neighborhood was beautiful. Plan for a walk after dinner.
Fun spot in a great location. Nice fun vibe, can spend lots of time here. Service was excellent, very accommodating. The food was good, but lacked some flavor. Omlette had lots of butter or oil, but I loved the ham and cheese, texture of the egg was perfect. Got a blackberry chocolate cake...looked amazing, but not so great on flavor. I'll give them another try, there so many dishes that looked incredible.
Afternoon Sunday brunch of the Egg Julienne had me singing praise in French🤗 Would had 5 stars if my daughter’s Egg Benedict bun was able to be cut easily with a knife. Desert was Peanut Butter Cheesecake. Didn’t want to share after the first bite! Inside is small but has seating outside. Best to call and/or make reservation.
I found this through a family member of mine. We decided to eat lunch here, a really neat place. They have outdoor seating and some indoor seating. They have a large selection of cakes and beers. It's really a neatplace to eat. I opted for the exotic burger, which is a combination of wagyu, bison, and venison, and it was phenomenal. They only offer it medium rare, which is exactly what I like, but the taste of it was that good. My wife and daughter tried various things. The wedge salad, pesto turkey, and fries, and it all turned out well.
I know you're probably reading this review because you're planning a unique lunch or dinner outing, but can I just start with the dessert for a second? I've figured out the true purpose of blueberries: To be part of the streusel cake at Manuel's. I'm not sure I ever truly appreciated blueberries before tasting this treat. The cake itself is light and fluffy with the faintest hint of lemon, while the icing is thick and creamy. So grateful I only got one slice and split it, because it is a generous serving size! I ordered the croque monsieur for lunch. It was okay but I feel like it would've tasted better without the bechamel, which really just weighed down the flavors of the ham. The bread was the real winner with that dish. Another member of the party got the fried catfish and just loved it. Fries are generously portioned and seasoned nicely. Side salad looked fabulous. Great atmosphere, too, with indoor and outdoor seating, including tables you can reserve ahead. If you plan to dine in, though, set aside some time. This isn't the sort of place that's going to rush your order. Overall a wonderful choice for a unique dining experience with tasty desserts.
10/10 for the food, service, ambience and overall experience! Ate there during lunch time (their brunch time ends at 11am on Saturday). Everything was delicious but their creme brulee won the day! Will definitely come back to try out their brunch menu. Edit (06/10/2023): Old rating: 5 stars for Food, Service and Atmosphere As promised, went back from brunch. I think this ranks as one of my worst service experiences. The food was just alright. We were rushed a lot to place our orders, the server got us pour-over coffee without us ordering it, was very curt in responding to our questions, and delayed getting our checks.
Elk was amazing, crab tower was meh. Swordfish was great, strawberry cake was good and tiramisu was great. Service was okay, long waits for refills and check. The place and furniture is a bit run down with mismatched seating etc. overall great vibe, it is pricey.
Desserts were great. Strawberry cake with icing was my favorite. Lamb rack was undercooked when ordered medium rare. Reservation was made through Resy. I was seated right away.
We sat on the patio and the ambiance was very nice. The service was a little so-so but the food was great and the vibes were nice. They had nice appetizers and a decent entree selection.
I had one of the specials for that day and I thought it was delicious. It was some sort of pork belly dish and I completely forgot the name. It was delicious although the pork belly was on the more fattier side. All in all I would come back to this place.
We arrived around 11:30am (they open at 11) we expected our food to be hot but it was not. The fried ravioli was good but not as hot as it should be. The salmon was undercooked (raw in the middle). The chili had no flavor and the gyro was delicious but had 2 skinny slivers of meat. The sangria was ok. The best thing we tasted was the fries and aioli! We were also disappointed on how fast the food was coming out plus it not being hot. We’ve eaten in France several times and were hoping for a true European type of service which is definitely not fast service.
service and food were fine. i loved the aesthetic of the restaurant and they had lovely music playing. wished the french toast had more flavor. easy brunch place to meet friends with
After waiting for 17 minutes for our order to be taken, my spouse and I started to enjoy the lunch break. We both had the Kobe Burger. It came with fries and that specifically was the star of the dish. Always delicious! The burger instead, was lacking flavor by itself. Thankfully it had a chipotle mayo sauce and “add up” to the taste experience. The area where the restaurant is at is super nice and welcoming. Parking is on the street. But you know what? I’d recommend it anyways. Once we were being attended, our server made the experience a nice one. Just, burgers might not be their forte.
The wait service and the atmosphere as always, were perfect. The chocolate mousse was perfect. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. However, I’m not sure if they had an off day in the kitchen or what - the food service was terrible. My husband’s Eggs Benedict was first served with soft boiled eggs instead of poached. The kitchen did correct the eggs, but by the time they brought new eggs, they were still not truly poached and were more of an over medium poach. He also realized that the English muffins were not toasted at all and that there was not enough hollandaise to fix his Benedict with the new eggs, but didn’t want to complain a second time. My shrimp and grits were less than their usual phenomenal standard - but I was hungry so I ate them anyways (that and our friend had broken a mimosa flute on accident, so we weren’t trying to cause more of a fuss). My shrimp were pale and flavorless. Last time we came, the shrimp were flavorful and well seasoned. These literally looked like they were quickly boiled and tossed on top of the grits with some parsley. The grits were perfect, as were the drinks. We did also try the frog legs, which were an experience/impulse order. Not sure we’d get them again simply from a personal standpoint. In the images, you can see his English muffin is dry/uncooked and my shrimp are pale. While we had a decent experience, it was due to our company with our friends, and not the food. The service and atmosphere made up slightly for the lack of a good meal experience.
My husband and I truly wanted to love this place! We've heard nothing but wonderful things about Manuel's. However, our own experience was different. Upon arriving, we were greated promptly and sat down immediately. Over our 1hr stay our server came to check on us about 3 times. We ordered the poutine, which was good! But didn't blow us away. We split the steak au poivre ($80), and were highly disappointed. Over 50% of the steak was fat and gristle, leaving it inedible. We informed the server about the steak. The manager followed up and she gave us 25% off the steak itself... we'd like to give it another shot but we're quite reluctant to after today, especially for the price.
Our entire tables food was not properly cooked and the quality is not there. My steak was inedible, fatty and rubbery. The burger was under cooked and bloody. The server did not ask how we wanted it cooked. The chicken was basic. Service was not good, took very long to get a simple drink. Would not recommend, would not come back. Area is nice and view outside is nice, that is the only positive.
