My mother tried to take me here on Memorial Day. I hated it. They didn’t question me one bit. The servers were too young to have actually served. I tipped the waitress $20 because she didn’t know any better. Great experience, definitely get a side of fries because your children will definitely eat them on Veterans Day. Love this place!

This was my first time eating at this location. The food was just as good as it is at the other locations. They have a super wide variety of creative burgers, including a monthly special. They have a few beers on tap. I had the garlic fries too. If you are a garlic lover GET THESE. They do not mess around with the garlic.

Stayed in the area for 3 weeks and visited twice. Felt like we could have visited everyday but you have to try other places. Great burgers n fries. Make sure wherever you sit the napkin dispenser is full. In the two visits we used an average of 13 napkins each per meal. Great!

July 5th 2019. The burgers are the best really. They were so good. Had problem with take out order. But it was made right and my husband and I shared a great hot meal. hamburgers ,onion rings and French fries oh and the best house Ranch dressing. . Everything was great. To all who say slow. Come on get real no one can serve good quality food in 2minutes or less. If you ate there burger and you think it took to long. You have no taste. We will be back and thank you for great meal.

Silvester's was recommended by a local and we are Happy! A basket of fries to share for our family of five was perfect. We tried five different burgers and everyone was happy no complaints. The hand wash sink in the middle of the restaurant is a great idea. Juicy burger equals messy hands. 👍👍👍👍👍

Burger was super good. You can order the patty in three different sizes. Quarter, third or half pound. The meat was rich and juicy full of flavor. Fries and rings we're great too with one order being enough for two of us to share. Half price drinks if going to the Melodrama a block away.

My favorite hand-dipped corndog stop! Burgers are always delicious- upgrade to a bigger patty for a better burger. Salads are delicious, sweet potato fries are fire, onion rings are to die for, fish and chips are amazing. Then top it off with nice and helpful staff. Prices are a little steep, but the food is so worth it. A very homemade feel to it and not fast food feel at all. Ordering ahead online makes pickup a breeze or sitting on the patio when the weather is nice makes for a great dining out time. We love Sylvester’s and always recommend to others.

How do I even begin to try to convey just how good this hole-in-the-wall burger joint is? I just ate one of the best burgers of my life and definitely the best sweet potato fries of my life. The BEST burger place for miles. So many fantastic options. Giant shakes. Amazing fries. You can have burger salads. there isn’t anything here that you can’t find. This is an excellent family owned place and I highly recommend going here because I love eating here every time I come it is definitely one of my favorite places places in all of San Luis Obispo County

The hamburgers are amazing. The Heart Attack and Desperado are 2 of our favorites and you have to try the sweet potato fries. Best in town.

This is the best Impossible burger I have found by far! Everything included, you don't even need to modify to make it 100% vegan! The sprouts, sauce and avocado are incredible. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!!

i am beyond speechless about how amazing the burgers are here. my fiancé and i are both military and have both traveled to a good amount of places and had food from a good amount of places and none in which top this burger spot. we currently live in Orange County area and will be willing to make the 3 hour drive back here. I have a severe mushroom allergy and noticed they have a lot of mushroom items on their menu and they did absolutely amazing at accommodating to my needs and ensuring i was also able to enjoy the food with no stress of cross contamination. the customer service is amazing, the food is amazing, and overall atmosphere is amazing. i’m glad this place is a hidden gem because they would 100% out any other burger company out of business. 1000/10 recommend!!!

Great local spot, family friendly and good food.

Excellent comfort food. As you can see I had the hand battered onion rings and mushrooms & they were both yummy. The onion rings were cooked just how I like them a little dark and crispy. I added a draft beer, space dust to complete my enjoyment. Very friendly and extra helpful staff. They went out of their way to accommodate our needs.

Very nice old style hamburger restaurant. Great location. Family friendly, good prices. The food was simple but it was fresh made and delicious as we expected. Great staff, very clean and following Covid19 regulations. We were lucky to be able to eat inside this time. We love all the old photographs from former customers. I will totally recommended this place for family with kids.

I like the hippie burger (with jalapeños). The ingredients are fresh and the prices are reasonable. They also have no problem substituting things. Only negative thing I’ve observed is that their onion rigs are heavily batteries. Doesn’t affect my vote because I hate onion rings but just an FYI

Really good food! Loved the hotdogs and onion rings! They have a different special daily and all of them are really good! Has nice indoor and outdoor seating. The music was not enjoyable though, which made us want to leave faster.

We stop here every time we visit the coast. We will actually drive out of the way to come by. The burgers are so fresh and delicious. It does take a bit to receive your food, but that is because everything is made to order. They now have some vegetarian options as well. There are a ton of pictures on the wall of people that visit on their birthdays.

We went with a huge group, and they took such good care of us. I ordered the Hippie Burger which was pretty good. I think next time I'd get it without the vegan cream cheese and with Sylvester's Sauce on it.

This place is absolutely delicious! I had the grilled chicken sandwich and fried zucchini. My kids each got something from the kids menu and they also enjoyed thier meals. My husband had the Elk burger with fried mushroom caps. We all really liked our food. We will definitely be back when we are in town again. The staff was friendly. They had seating inside and outside that were clean/ well maintained.

I've lived in oceano since june of 2025. I moved here from bakersfield to become my father's caregiver. And although I live right down the street from this place , i've never eaten here. My dad's in the hospital with his off cancer and it's not doing well.So his friend , who is known two years longer than my fifty five years of life flew in from new york to come visit him today and stay a few days. We were leaving the house to take care of him.Go visit my father , he spotted out sylvester's wanted to eat there. And i'm here to tell you they're pastrami sandwich is amazingly delicious , juicy , and I will eat here again very soon , like maybe this evening , l o l. I highly recommend the place I haven't eaten any burgers here.I've tried nothing but the pastrami and it was delicious. Temperature first timer 100th time, whether you've eaten the pastrami or not.You probably need to order another one.

This location offers Ziggy's, which is all vegan! They have an ordering kiosk there with everything from Ziggy's. Anthony was so helpful, kind, and accommodating, ensuring we got the vegan versions of what we ordered and that we had anything else we needed. Solid side-of-the-road shack for burgers and fries. A good alternative away from the crowds in Pismo. As others have mentioned, prices are a bit high, but not out of line with general inflation. The onion rings are killer and if you like garlic, the garlic fries ate just the thing. Staff was super pleasant and helpful.

This is a delicious little burger joint. There is a very laid back atmosphere. There was plenty of outdoor seating. Indoors the walls are covered in pictures of people with their free birthday burgers or people attempting the 5lb burger challenge. These burgers were fantastic and even though the garlic fries were not what I was expecting, I loved them. Burgers and sides are ordered sperately. They have a few alcoholic beverages to choose from if that's your thing.

We were a little nervous at first as from the outside we didn't know what to expect. But yum yum everything was delicious. The basket of onion rings were awesome. The blue cheese burger delicious. The bread was toasted on both sides adding an extra crunch. Beware though... must eat with napkins as the sauce is a plenty. As mentioned by others, the service is great and the food is delicious. I had a burger with blue cheese and a plate of fries . . . Really very tasty and enjoyable. I appreciated the relaxed setting as well. One concern (and this is not unique to Sylvester's) is that I find the hamburger buns tend to be too soft and really not big enough for the actual burger so I found the hamburger to be"finger licking good" because a lot of the"fixings" were dripping in my fingers, plate and elsewhere . . . Went during Covid so we had to eat outside but they had heaters to keep us pretty warm. Had the black and blue burger and onion rings. We live up the street so we're somewhat regulars here. Since we've gone vegan, we pretty much only get the Hippie Burger, but it was my favorite burger before anyway! All vegan ingredients including the mayo and the cheese. Super delicious patty and really yummy bun and sprouts. We love their garlic fries and their breaded mushrooms. Overall, they take a little bit of extra time to cook their food, so expect a wait. And their prices are pretty expensive for a burger and fries. They don't have combos, so you have to buy the burgers and the sides separately, and it does add up. The burgers are large enough that you can totally split them. They also have weekly discounts where certain menu items are 50% off, totally worth it!

Possibly the best hamburger I've ever had with super fresh ingredients. The onion rings were battered and fried to perfection. Fish and chips were so good. Rating 4 stars because I can't justify spending $15 on a hamburger. Staff was inviting and service was relatively quick. Had a pitcher of beer in front of me so wasn't checking the clock on order to arrival time. Not too busy but was obvious that this is a locals favorite.

Love that they offer vegan menu items from Ziggy's. Good stuff. Service is slow, however, and I still don't know how one of the items I thought I specified never made it into my take out order. Still, my family and I will be back but maybe for dine in only.

My son had the big chili burger and said it was great. I had the fish and chips, $15.99!!, and it took 15 minutes longer to get it than my sons food. The batter was far to crispy due to being almost burnt. The fries were good and plentiful. Beer was ice cold. I do not mind spending extra if the quality is worth it. 16 bucks for burnt fish is not good. And they charged 1.32 transaction fee???

I ordered the black and blue Burger. I really wanted to like it, but it didn't thrill me. Blue cheese wasn't strong and without any other condiment on it was pretty dry. The onion rings were better than the burger but it had a lot of batter. Some of them could have had 1/2 as much batter and they would be perfect. Next time I'll order a more standard burger in the hope of understanding why everyone raves about Sylvester's so much.

On my quest to find the best hamburger, I discovered Sylvester's. This place is known for the best burgers with the largest variety of burgers. Their menu includes: an Old Fashion with Cheese, a California, a Desperado, a Heart Attack which is a burger with a fried egg - bacon - avocado - cheddar cheese - and Sylvester sauce. They have a Habanero Mango, a Black 'n Bleu which has bacon - Bleu cheese crumbles - Cajun spice. There is a Flaming Armadillo which has a cream cheese - roasted jalapeños. To enrich the palates, they offer a Buffalo Burger, an Elk Burger, chili, sandwiches, and a large kids menu. The Sylvester sauce is yummy and accompanies most of the burgers. There is ample parking, limited seating inside, and outdoor seating. The place needs a white glove. There are photographs stapled to the walls that have collected dust. I think they perform the very least in cleanliness. The meal is ordered at the counter. When your number is called, the server brings your meal and any condiments. Guests buss their own table. There is one tiny restroom that is not ADA compliant. The burgers make up for the inconveniences and cleanliness! Yummy!

The staff is friendly but when it comes down to product I feel that it's not as good as it used to be. Mainly the meat taste off. It does not taste fresh. As prices go up I feel that quality is something that should not be sacrificed. I was disappointed. The burger is the #1 reason I have chosen to eat there and then #2 the friendly people. Los Osos is my original joint that I loved. I'm curious to see if they have changed.

We’ve always been loyal fans of Sylvester’s, referring everyone there for the best burgers and garlic fries, but for some reason our last few visits have been disappointing. It seemed that our food was excessively overcooked. One of our burgers had a patty well done and the buns were actually black on parts. The other burger had an egg all the way cooked through (it was supposed to be runny) and the bacon was severely overcooked and very hard. We had waited about 35 minutes for our food and the garlic fries were very crunchy (almost like chips) and near room temperature. It made us think they had been cooked much earlier… or maybe they had forgotten to serve us. We asked for new fries and just dealt with the burgers since we were starving. The new fries that came out were still very crunchy and hard (garlic was piled on though so that was still on point!) We took them home but ended up tossing them. Prices have gone up pretty high but that’s understandable because of inflation and the pandemic. Unfortunately, the quality of the food no longer justifies the cost. Hoping the food gets back to 100 soon!

The place is a bit run down, but what you'd expect for a hole in the wall restaurant. The prices are insane for what you get. No prices listed so order at your own risk. We ordered 2 burgers with fries and onion rings, 1 soda and 1 specialty shake, and our bill was almost $64 before tip! Wow! My husband got the black and blue burger with onion rings and soda, I ordered the teriyaki burger with fries and lemon girl scout cookie shake. My husband's burger was to his liking, but the onion rings were very bland, not beer battered so really not much flavor. Teriyaki burger was way too wet, bun was soggy and ended up having to eat it without the bun. Taste was fair, good enough if the price was lower. The biggest reason for the 2 stars is price, way too expensive for what we got.

We chose this place from reviews. It looks like a time capsule to the 80's. If the vibe is shack on the side of the road, they nailed it. Still, we came this far. we might as well eat here was our thinking. We ordered 2 burgers, a fry, onion rings, soda, and malt. No prices on the wall sign, so we were a little taken aback by price. The food was all OK, but could have used a pinch of salt on frys and rings. But everyone's different. Burgers are very messy. We probably used 6 napkins each.

The food was horrible my clam chowder was cold! Like it had been sitting all day and then served. The burger first of all was so expensive $20 and it was extremely salty it’s like they poured a whole bottle of salt on in it. WAY OVERPRICED!!! I was an old returning customer expecting good prices, great food, and atmosphere, but it was not that! The burgers are $11 and up and it does NOT include fries or a drink! However the burger was good and the shake was the only bright side. The garlic fries were drenched in oil and disgusting! The tables and walls were super dirty! DO NOT GO HERE!

I just recently moved to this area and wanted to try a new place. We ordered online and they barely got our order right. I ordered a california burger with bacon and the burger i got had no bacon ($2 extra!) and no avocado(it comes with avocado). We asked for the sauce on the side for our Tri tip sandwich and they didn’t do so. I had also paid for 3 sides of ranch which weren’t in the bag and I had to request instead. Don’t think I’ll be coming back.

The menu doesn't have any prices, but according to the description, the California seemed good. I didn't have anything else - no fries, no drink. They brought the burger to me and this is what it looked like - definitely not worth the $16.71 I was charged. Go anywhere else.
