La Naranja is a well-regarded Mexican restaurant in Orange, known for delicious food, reasonable prices, and great service. Customers rave about the homemade corn tortillas, mole sauce, and the unexpected burger. Some note inconsistent service and cleanliness.
Tip: Try the homemade habanero hot sauce; one customer wished they could buy a bottle to take home.

So far, the Best Mexican Restaurant I’ve tried in Virginia. Mezcalero & El Sol are good, El Paso chain works. Many other locals. Nonetheless, their flavors can only come not necessarily from verdaderos conocedores de la autentica comida mejicana, but simply from good cooks that know what they are doing in that kitchen. We’ll be back.
It was delicious!!!! Very fresh tasting and full of flavor! All the staff was very nice and are waitress was super sweet and gave are daughter a scoop of ice cream to take home! Thank you!!!
Food was great. Always is actually. I'm a carnitas person, and their's is always cooked to perfection. The Xango is a really good dessert to change it up with too. Enough for 2 satisfied people to round off a meal.
Stumbled upon this Mexican place love the unique dishes and sauces. Always amazed with the meals and priced just right for date night. Comfortable setting indoor and outdoor seating friendly staff.
This is our go-to Mexican restaurant. We've traveled further before we discovered this place. We love their food, it's very authentic. Dishes you can't find in many places.
Very good food with really nice servers. Our first time there, been wanting to try it and glad we did. Clean!!!!! We will be back, thank you. ✌🏼
Outstanding food and service by anyone's standards! Went on a busy, rainy Friday night on 11/2/18, and the service was wonderful, and the food equally so. We will be back.
Awesome food, service and prices! It’s most definitely the best Mexican place in town. We’ve been twice now and both times was more than happy with the service, food and prices. It’s our favorite local place!
Delicious food and very hospitable staff. A great family outing. 28 of us at a time could be overwhelming, but they handled it well!
Wow can I get a what what Wow ! This place was great from the time we walked in to the service to the food even the restroom was clean .. I had mix fiestas great just enough to fill you up. The guacamole was home made .. Yum . I can't say enough ..
Despite being the new kid in a town with a long established and popular Mexican restaurant to contend with, they have a lot of unique and tasty items to set themselves apart. The Naranja Burger was one of the best burgers I've ever eaten, which was not expected in a Mexican restaurant. The housemade white sauce you get with your table chips is excellent. Delicious daiquiris. The inside is bright and welcoming, and the staff is attentive without being annoying. Update: I am consistently impressed with the quality of their food and service. They have also weathered the pandemic while keeping their employees and customers safe, unlike another local Mexican restaurant that defies common sense and government mandates designed to protect people.
Lovely place! It’s my first time eating here but I was recommended to come here by a friend. While tucked away, La Naranja is actually quite flashy (in a good way) on the inside and the service is stellar. Wide variety of food and drink (including non alcoholic drinks). You won’t regret coming here!
Amazing food, great prices, very well designed restaurant. Might not feel like a traditional Mexican food joint, but the food is absolutely on point. A la carte options for picky kids is a Godsend. Easy parking and helpful staff. Great daily adult drink specials. Can't wait to go back!
Take out was accurate, timely, and friendly. Delicious food and courteous staff. Fried chimichanga with ground beef stuffing was by far the best I’ve ever had in this region. Out-of-Town visitors: This is the must-try Mexican restaurant before going home. Local residents: If you haven’t tried La Naranja yet, make sure you do. You won’t regret it.
We had lunch at La Naranja today and it was very good. The chicken and beef taco salads are delicious. We also had the bacon wrapped jalapeno 's and it was amazing. Very nice selection of mexican foods and a full service bar at this location. This is a must visit if you are in the area
Come hungry and leave satisfied! There are many ways Mexican fare can go wrong but this place got every note right. Cheerful staff, quick service, incredibly fresh food and a small bill. We will 100% be back
Great food, friendly service, great value. It was a pleasure to get dinner here on their deck outdoors. The menu has a lot to offer, including a good kids menu. Tacos were delicious. Check out the daily specials as well.
This is a very nice place. Everyone we came in contact that worked there was very nice and was smiling. The restaurant is super cute and very clean. Food and drinks were Awesome!!! Can't wait to go back. Highly recommended!!!!
Best in the area. Fresh and made from scratch. Authentic tortillas. Lovely al pastor. Margarita with fresh juice. Makes all the other Mexican places feel like egg noodles and ketchup.
La Naranja is hands down the best Mexican food anywhere in the area. The ingredients are fresh, and seasoned perfectly. The service was always good when we were able to dine in, and it is now one of our favorite take out places.
This place is GREAT. Never let us down. The food is always fresh and delicious and the service is always friendly and fast. Especially like their speciality salad and Chorizo sausage and chicken dish. Been there many times and never sorry!
The best restaurant in town in my opinion!!! They serve fresh food, their service is always on point. They are always checking to make sure the food was made to your liking and if you need anything extra. And my favorite part, they serve the BEST mixed DRINKS!!! My favorite dish is the Arroz con pollo, which is a chicken and rice dish with tortilla on the side.
Love the outdoor dining space! They have staffing issues a lot so not really Sure what you are going to get each time but the food is really good! The white salsa is my favorite
Went here today, they only had one server when I was there but she was still very attentive and refilled our chips and drinks whenever we asked. Cannot go wrong with anything there, all of it is good
Yum! We love La Naranja! They always serve fresh food with polite servers. I've been here a handful of times and am never disappointed. Best Mexican food place in Orange, VA!
Great food and service. Their food really impressed me as was better then El Vaquero West and they have really good food as well. Like the more open space at La Naranja. Will definitely be back again!
This restaurant is outstanding. The food is amazing, the staff is wonderful, and the facility is inviting—all at a very reasonable price. It is, hands-down, my new favorite Mexican Restaurant.
Hands down the best mexican restaurant in the area. My fiancé and I frequently get take out, as well as the rest of my family, and it’s amazing every time. Portions are perfect, price is great, we’ve never had a bad experience and we’ve had their food at least 12 times.
Great Margaritas, had a pick 2 dinner of a burrito and a tamale that was delish. Saw some yummy looking fresh plates of fellow diners. Had never been inside the building before and was pleasently surprised at the atmosphere.
The food-- amazing. The service-- also amazing!! La Naranja catered our wedding at Greenock Manor, and the guests all RAVED about the food! Many of them specifically said it was the best wedding food they've ever had. Efrain and his team did an amazing job, and their smiling faces made our day even more special. Thank you so much! Can't wait to stop by to eat at the restaurant again soon. (Get the bacon-wrapped jalapeños!!)
Had lunch here Monday. Nice little place. The food was very good! Service was brisk ( but nice) , but suited us as we were in a hurry!
It's cold today and the dining room was cold but we were the first customers of the evening. The beer was cold, the food was hot. Good combo. Nice server and the food came out quickly. Nice outside accommodations, we'll be back in the warmth for sure.
Excellent service! More impressive was our food and the dessert!! I'm glad everything was closed in orange but them. It was a "let's try something new" or drive Fredericksburg. I'm glad we came! All of us were! And our server we will definitely request her😍🙂!!
We had dinner here on June 29,2018. The food was delicious, prices very reasonable and the service was great! Our server was Fisher.....he was very polite, efficient and helpful. The hostess was very welcoming and thanked us as we were leaving. Altogether a very pleasant experience. We will definitely be returning!
La Naranja was a fabulous spot to host our wedding rehearsal dinner. The food is excellent and fresh and delicious. We had about 45 people on the outside patio and it was a gorgeous space. The restaurant service was phenomenal and the manager, Ari, went above and beyond to make our evening special. Highly recommend hosting your next event at La Naranja!
I ate here last night for the first time, and wow, it was delicious. I had the chicken fajitas, and they were by far the best I've ever had. Everyone else in our party also enjoyed their meals very much.
Some of the best Mexican food I have ever had, delicious drinks and the food servings were generous and the flavors were amazing! Cleaned our plates fully and are definitely going to make a trip back to Orange specifically to eat here again!
This place was great! The waitress Jossalin (spelling?) was amazing!! We had a party of 20 and she remembered what everyone had and was able to prepare separate checks for everyone. She was super pleasant and very accommodating. Would absolutely recommend. Food was pretty decent as well. Back patio was great atmosphere!!
Dear Hubby and I love the food and service! Lunch is our usual time and every visit has been fantastic.
Update: La Naranja has been remodeled and is very nice inside and out. The food is still excellent and service is always quick. They've also added some weekly specials. Our go to Mexican restaurant for Orange! Been here a few times and the food is always so good! I've tried taco salad, Pollo con chorizo, and my husband gets the fajitas. Every time the food has been delicious, arrives quickly, and the prices are very reasonable. My kids love the white sauce with the chips! Would highly recommend this place and will continue to come back!!!
They did a great job,Being a gluten-free veganIt's not easy to please me but they really did. I had spinach enchiladas. The only thing I would have liked was a little bit of refried beans along with my rice and salad
Great vibe and prices. They were super accommodating with some alterations to my meal and the salad portion size was very generous. Our waiter was great, we just waited a while for our bill at the end. All and all great experience.
Awesome service! Excellent food and drinks! I especially enjoyed the grilled chicken avocado salad and my dining companions gave the combo plates 5 stars also. Be sure to order the bacon wrapped jalapenos! You won't be disappointed! Wish this place was closer to home!
Unexpectedly great! Avoided Cinco... But enjoyed flavorful tacos and enchiladas (cannot speak to drinks as we ordered water). Comp chips & salsa was fresh and tasty. 2 people $30. Service ✓ Food✓ Value✓ Clean atmosphere & popular place during our lunch hour.
What a great find! We were passing through Orange on a road trip and stopped for dinner. Wonderful food, great service, and so family friendly. Our kids loved their meals, and so did we. Definitely recommend stopping here at this lovely restaurant.
This is the second time I've eaten at La Naranja and the food was delicious.
Had a great dinner at reasonable prices. Our waitress was wonderful.
Went here for the first time, and it was delicious! The atmosphere was inviting and incredibly clean, and the food was full of flavor. I got the shredded chicken tacos, and would recommend those. The price was incredibly reasonable as well, as the portions were filling for a low price. I can't go without mentioning the exceptional service. The waitress was so friendly!
Food was delicious, our server could of stopped by more but overall it was a very pleasant first time experience. Will return.
The food is always delicious here! So many great menu items and good prices. We eat here often. They've expanded the dining area to accommodate more diners. It's very popular!
While under obvious renovation, the food is absolutely spectacular! Have visited three times so far and have never been disappointed. The Mexican fare is delicious and the chicken tenders with fries, for the kiddos, are fantastic as well. In fact, the fries are the best I've had. The sweet tea was pretty good as well. Great job! Can't wait to see how the renovations turn out!
Efrain and his team did a phenomenal job catering our 4-13-2024 wedding. As a bride, the day leading up to a wedding come with its own level of stress and I want to highlight something in particular that shows La Naranja’s commitment to excellence. Little did I know, the roof of the establishment had been blown off in some severe weather the night before our rehearsal (aka 2 days before the wedding). Efrain worked directly with our venue to plan and implement a work around since they were unable to cook at the restaurant as they were accustom to. I did not find out about this until after we said “I do” and the team executed flawlessly despite such a set back. The food was incredible! The jalapeño poppers are still being talked about by our guests and the shrimp was absolutely delicious! 10/10! Thank you for making our day so special!
We stopped at La Naranja Cochina Mexicana not sure what we would get, but hoping we would find a gem and we were not disappointed! Their homemade corn tortillas are soft and pillowy, their mole sauce is deep and complex. Their tamales are larger than I expected, stuffed full with moist shredded chicken, and topped with their rich mole sauce. The food was so good I forgot to take pictures and we just ate it on the spot. This is a picture of the delicious chicken tamale we ordered to take home with us and eat later which I am about to sit down and do now :-)
I had my engagement party here for dinner on the deck and it was such a great experience! From the waitresses, hostess and bartenders, everyone was amazing. We were able to sit on the deck and the waitress assisted us with a Bluetooth speaker so that we could listen to music and continue with the vibe. I give major props to the bartender because she was very honest and genuine. She sent out amazing drinks and even one time came out personally to apologize for it taking so long because she didn't like how the first one came out. What!! Thats dedication and great customer service. I truly enjoyed my time at La Naranja. I will be coming back! Also, the prices are very affordable. Thank you to the staff at Naranja!
I go simply for the food because it's always good. Service is not great and the atmosphere is not that great either, lots of broken tables and booths. I go strictly for the food.
Been there twice. Each time server was very nice and got order right. First time kitchen made wrong burrito waitress realized after kitchen brought out and quickly got it replaced. Food is good and live the variety of mix drinks.
Not too bad. Priced about right. Could have thrown a little more chicken on my salad but the taste was in there like swim wear. If they had a tv they could roll out on to that huge deck to watch sports on, I'd go more often. Large bar though so I cant hate too much. Best Mexican place between Orange and Gordonsville.
While it doesn't look like much from the outside, this place is pretty big. They do have outside patios, but we came when it was raining so they weren't in use. The food was good. The service was too. Nothing super special. But good.
I always order the burritos here. They are delicious and VERY filling. I also get a virgin peach daiquiri, every time. I like the alcohol, sure, but they taste SOOOO good without it. Just not necessary. We got the churros last time. Delicious. I will be back for more. lol
Food was good but came out at various times instead of all together. You would get part of your order then 10 minutes later another part. Service was a little slow considering it wasn't very busy. Everything we got finally was good though.
Best Mexican food experience in Orange. Everything is fairly priced, and served hot and promptly. The chips and salsa are extremely good. There are some excellent choices here that stand out. The enchiladas, especially. Very quiet overall, which is great if you are sensitive to loud restaurants. You can relax and enjoy your meal here. Highly recommend if you are in the area.
It was our first visit to Orange, VA, we weren't sure what food options will be available, we were pleasantly surprised to find such a lovely hidden gem of a mexican restaurant. If you are not a local and passing through, you definitely should check out this place. From food to service, everything was wonderful. We shared the Mixed fajitas and had a chance to sample some house made salsas, mind you all their salsas and sauses are made in house, our favourite is the tomatina salsa, they also have habanero and chipotle ranch, the food tastes fresh. The meat was juicy and tender, the fried beans and the rice was light and flavourful. I ordered a second helping of rice as it was so delicious. For the dessert we had a dessert called Xango, it was a deepfried flour tortilla roll with dulce de leche cream cheese filling, it was absolutely out of this world. We definitely wanna come back and bring our friends to this place.
The food was delicious, the presentation was beautiful. However, despite informing our young male server several times that we wanted the traditional carne asada TACOS, he brought regular carne asada.... upon bringing it to his attention he just said "but you said carne asada". But besides having to prepare our own tacos with no apology the food was good and the fajitas were delicious.
I had a detailed review 2 months ago but apparently it was removed. Summary from 3 visits is we'd return again. This place has its ups and downs. Food is not consistent. Bacon wrapped jalepenos have always been good. Service varies. The place can already use a good cleaning. We got wet during a storm due to water coming through the closed window frame. Enchiladas are known to be the closest in the area to being authentic cuisine. 5 out of seven stars for a perfect score.
Food was good. Portions very small. Kind of Surprising! Waiter very nice and knowledgeable. Easy and level entrance which is good for me since I have mobility Issues.
The meal i got was good but not as good as the same thing at Vaquero West. Two other people with me were satisfied with their selection. Waitress was lacking in her abilities as server and representative of the business.
We have been going to La Naranja since they opened, but the service is not consistent, they really need to train their employee's better. The food is awesome, but again there portions are not consistent and the prices are a little high for Mexican cuisine. And 3 times they have put are credit card in twice for the same bill. 😡
Burrito was decent, but Mexican rice was soggy mush. Refried beans were average for a Mexican Restaurant. The 3 stars is for the food. Had I factored service into it, it would have been a 2.5. Service after drink and order delivered was non-existent. I had to go find another server for a drink refill, as my server was nowhere to be found. There was nothing about this experience that would warrant anything over 3 stars.
My 2nd visit to this restaurant. Service was really slow this visit. Not that many customers were in there during lunch hour. Couldn't understand why service was slow. The food was delivered warm but not up to par. Small portions for all 4 of us. The vegetables either were very limited on our meals. Even a long wait to pay our tab.
To be honest, if you're looking for authentic Mexican food this just didn't do it for me. From the salsa and chips to the tacos, everything was just ok. Personally I wouldn't go back. My margarita was mainly sour mix too.
Slow to wait on us for drinks, slow to deliver bill after we finished. So work on speed for a better review. The seating could be updated, as many had cracks in the vinyl.
The food tasted great but the portions were so small. We got takeout and it didn't even cover the bottom of the container. We usually go to El Vaquero and their servings are much larger.
Ill be honest the food was okay , not spectacular , and not anything what the menu described ordered nachos that came with steak and cheese and tomatoes cream etc . and when i got them it was just chips with like 4 or 5 pieces of steak and barely any cheese . and our server told me i had to pay extra for the toppings it was supposed to have. The chips and salsa are free so youre telling me you charge 10 dollars for 5 extremely thin slices of steak and a little cheese. Besides the nacho incident our other food was good. Unfortunately all the deserts we wanted to order were unavailable like 2 hours after they opened it have no idea how but oh well. Our server was kind and she did her best under the circumstances . would only go back because the service from her was great. ! The actual atmosphere is nice the seats were comfortable and its a clean and well organized restaurant.
Service was really good; but the food, let me put it this way, not even 60 %. :( sorry but I think the food needs to be more Mexican and better quality. I had the Fajitas with steak, chicken and chorizo, appetizer Guac and queso with chorizo.
First Mexican restaurant I have ever got fajitas NOT SIZZLING I let the server know he didn’t care or have a clue. NO tortilla had to ask 2 different servers to get any for my meal. Never cleared any plates off table even after we ordered dessert. food had good flavor but service was a terrible experience seemed like no one knew what to do.
Dissappointed yet again. Service is always really good here, but the food is dissapointing. Steak fajitas are bland and tough. If you are going to use cheap beef, at least marinate it and flavor it properly.
I love the food here but the customer service is not the greatest. I literally gave them the order I wanted and they basically gave me what they wanted to. I asked for the 3 taco supremes and bc it’s Taco Tuesday I received 2 tacos instead. As I’m looking over the receipt one order says no beans and the other states no guacamole and a side of cheese sauce. If you look the Taco Tuesday comes with neither of the items that were requested not to have on the order ? Was told that they had ran out of queso when the order was placed but was not told about this even though we were charged. Why would they be requested not to have if I didn’t want the order with the the 3 tacos? My son requested queso as well and of course he didn’t receive his for his burrito bc as I was told the kitchen has ran out. After calling back to the restaurant I was left on hold and then hung up on. As I stated the food is great but customer service is not the best.
Seated immediately, unfortunately we were not acknowledged by any service staff and after about 25 minutes me and my family left. Used to be good, no longer.
Ordered a large order for work, my boss went to pick up the order before they told her it would be ready. She waited what looks to be about 30 minutes based on her call logs and our text messages, only drove half a mile back to work and we got cold food and they didn’t put 2 items in the bag. This is the second time we’ve received cold food from them! I had to call 3x to get a manager who tried to tell me that the food had sat waiting to be picked up, when I told him it hadn’t he then said no one else had called to complain. Never asked my name or order but told me it had sat… he did offer to replace my food but not to refund. Why would I want my food to be fixed again when it was cold to begin with and there’s only so much time you have for lunch? Will not give them a 3rd try especially after his horrible attitude.
Horrible experience seems the entire restaurant was disorganized tonight. Wait staff looked lost tonight like they didn't know which tables needed orders taken, etc. We were there for almost 30 mins before drink orders were even taken. Then our waiter comes out after bringing our drinks asking if we had ordered our food yet that's when we knew he had never put the order in and we had already been there for 45 mins by that point. He then realized he forgot to bring my frozen margarita that was half melted out to table. Decided to cancel off our order and pay for the drinks and then left. Management didn't try to justify their actions tonight in any way. Will not be returning!!! Place is in need of new management and staff.
This the second time me and my lady went and it took forever after being seated for them to say that our beers were late because they didnt have clean glasses, they had some business but it wasnt packed so how could they not get beer out to us in the almost 20 mins we sat there. We ended up leaving. No thanks. I was also not impressed with the menu. Look like just another american joint. Nothing authentic about it.
They were very busy and we waited patiently for about 20 minutes before anyone was at the counter to take our name. We were seated and then ignored, as two other tables near us received chips and water immediately. The third time the waiter came into the room and left without looking at us or speaking to us I said, "Excuse me?", at which point he turned and looked at me then kept walking away. At that point we got up and left. I won't set foot in that restaurant again.
Worst experience, lost our reservations, had us wait at bar and bar tender never waited on us. When we were finally seated we got our drinks and then waitress forgot about us. So we never got to order food. Finally paid bill and left. Will never return
