The seafood was very good. It is sorta like cafeteria style, but you can take your meal out by the Lake!! Perfect!!
Great food! Super quick. It does get a little busy. But the line moves fast. Amazing views and Ice creams right now door !
First time here with my hubby and son for my son's bday and we all loved it!! From start to finish the service and food were amazing!! Went there for lunch and got clam strips, calamari, fired pickles, mac n cheese and smelt. All were made to perfection and it was a perfect day to sit outside by the water where they offer so much seating and shade if you'd like. Will definitely be revisiting soon!
My dad grew up in Oswego and has been telling me about Rudy's for most my life. I finally drove from Washington State to Oswego and the first stop I made when I got here was Rudy's. This place is worth the drive.
The haddock was moist and fresh. The scallops wear lightly fried and yummy. The tuna sandwich was a bit over cooked for my liking but still had a good flavor.
Such a beautiful setting and great food! Something for everyone at any age and ice cream for dessert! We have gone to Rudy's every summer for many years! They have tables to sit at outside so you can just relax by the beautiful Lake Ontario. The kids love it and now they are taking their kids to Rudy's!
I love this place. On the water and under a pavilion you can eat your meal. I ordered a small portion and it worked out perfectly I was full after that. Would highly recommend it if you love fish and seafood
Oh my gosh We never been to Rudy's!!! How is that possible!! Let's just say so worth the 40 minute drive!! My Mom who is 82 was glad to introduce us!! I enjoyed a scallop dinner while Mom had center cut fish sandwich with chips. My other half enjoyed a blue plate with a side of slaw. Bring your on catsup tho if you are a fan. Tarter and seafood sauce are pletiful!! Also really decent recycling situation going 👌👍. What can I say about eating in open air lakeside. Really great. Most of the patrons were following Covid 19 direction. Lots of seating. Great place will be going many more time this year and from now on!!
I'm 63 years old. I've been going to Rudys since I was a little girl. I've always called it The Loop. The thing is that I love love love Texas Hot Sauce from there. To the owners, You should sell the Texas hot sauce all year long, on line!!!!! There is nothing to compare it to. I've tried for years after you close for the summer to taste that flavor. And nothing comes close. I do buy lots of extra, put it in the freezer and I'm out by Halloween. Also, we have family from Cape Cod I have to share with😟. Please think about just selling your hot sauce year round on line. You would make great winter income. Thank you Terry(Pelkey) Sherwood
I loved this place so much, and I always will love it to this day. I would go there every year on my birthday, and I love their fried shrimp and mozzarella sticks. I love the view of Lake Ontario from where I sit to eat my food. Also, congratulations to the employees for renovating the interior of the building.
Line was out the door when we arrived. We waited approximately 10mins. To get to the point where we ordered our food. Young man that took our order was friendly we ordered and moved on down the line to wait about another 5 mins. For food. We outside with beautiful views of the lake. Food was overall very good. Will definitely be returning.
Well it's Rudys it's a local ford stand that's been around for generations. Heck my parents even dated there, am 62.. Seagulls are always on the look out for a lost fry.. kids love the rocks water-rocks-kids equals parents getting a brake.. The wind gets gusty at times, but the views are relaxing..
My 1st visit this year my fish tasted different. I blamed myself, lol My 2nd visit I brought a friend for her 1st time. I recommended the haddock sandwich and the girl said we don't have haddock. I brushed it off, ordered the sandwich and again, it tasted not right. Not bad as in spoiled, just different than the quality of what I'm used to. I didn't even bother getting my usual and went with fried shrimp. It was good, but not why I love coming to Rudy's. 😞
I hadn’t been to Rudy’s since the start of COVID, but I went today and got a Yankee Plate (fried clams, fries, and I chose apple sauce as my side) along with an order of fried shrimp, cocktail sauces, and cocktail sauce. The scallops and shrimp were perfectly fried, not to mention delicious as usual. Both were tender, not too much breading, and the scallops were slightly sweet. I didn’t have to wait too long; it was nice to see that I could use contactless payment or a card now. I know they have been doing that for at least a couple of years, but I haven’t been since 2019, so that was awesome to see. I would recommend Rudy’s to anyone that likes seafood, even if you don’t because they have an extensive menu of other foods: Heid’s Hotdogs and Coneys, burgers, sandwiches, and more. You should definitely check out their menu and take a trip up there to enjoy a meal and an awesome view of Lake Ontario!
A local hot spot favorite for views of Lake Ontario and great food. My friend and I dropped in during a rain storm that shut down Harbor Fest... which usually has Rudy's packed. It was still busy but the wait wasn't long and the views of crashing waves was beautiful. I'm loving the addition of hush puppies!
The view overlooking Lake Ontario while enjoying an evening dinner at Rudy's Lakeside Drive-In was absolutely wonderful during the pandemic, social distancing, and mask wearing patrons. The season is closed, I look forward to the 2021 opening day, a new summer of fish and views like these... can't be beaten! My favorite dish to order is the fried fish sandwich, the salt potatoes, sweet potato fries, absolutely love the fresh potato fries too. I felt Rudy's handled the pandemic restrictions very well, the customers seemed to agree as they showed in great numbers to dine and play in the water. Another awesome summer season, thank you staff and Rudy's for being open during the pandemic so your customers and staff had some semblance of normalcy and great food, the view is always one to devour!
Rudy's is an institution. Great food, amazing service, world class views. Employees are super nice and go out of their way to help you. My father is in a wheelchair and one of the workers went above and beyond to help him and make sure he was taken care of! Really nice to see!! Steamers were exceptionally good!
First time - totally impressed with the good and portion. Ate outside with gorgeous view of the lake. A hidden gem - I’ll definitely return!!!!
My family and I have been coming here for the past five years after my nephews 4th of July party. Everyone gets together the day we leave. We meet up here for lunch. There is at least 15 to 20 of us and everyone says it gets better each visit. Place looks great with the recent renovations. The expanded menu offers something for everyone. And the cashier was fun and made ordering easy as if he knew what we wanted. We will be coming back every year until we aren't able to anymore!
My favorite place in NY to eat during the summer.I have been coming to Rudy's for about 30 years because it was my parent's favorite place for Haddock. In all of my summers making the drive to Oswego, I never said, "that was terrible" or "awful service today". NEVER! Think about that! This place has perfected the food and service and accommodates very large crowds. Yes, sometimes you wait during peak times, but it's so very worth it. Best fried Haddock in the area, trust me, I try to find a substitute every off season. It isn't out there! I'm not certain why it tastes amazing, but it's one of a kind. The Texas hot sauce is just perfect and has tasted the same since I can remember. The fries and other sides are excellent too. Perfectly cooked and always hot and fresh. Never old. I love the addition of the new credit/debit card reader. It takes away the anxiety of ordering what you want and realizing you didn't bring enough cash for your appetite!
Fried smalts? Delicious seafood? Sign me up. They don’t make places like this anymore. This no frills establishment has a wide ranging menu for reasonable prices. However, the shrimp burger was the best thing I ate here. Truly it was fantastic and very shrimp-y. Other highlights include the salted potato’s and various fried seafoods. Def worth stopping by after the Sterling Renaissance Faire.
Rudy’s is famous for their fish hot, burger hot, and everything hot. You can order your sandwiches with their special Texas Hot Sauce that consists of spices, ground hamburger, onions, and tomato sauce. Last night I tried the Mac and Cheese and it was so good. It had the perfect amount of creamy melted cheese. Next time I think I’m going to order a Mac and Cheese Hot!
Awesome food. Friendly people. And it's right on the lake. ;) priceless memories. We always go there when we in the area. :)
Incredible view, food, service. A local favorite and a must try. Ample parking and seating outdoors and some inside. Fish and chips highly recommend. Huge menu and an army of hard workers. Truly enjoyed this place. Family friendly with a beautiful rock beach. So skip a rock enjoy the foo and the view/ sunset 🌇 Like and follow for more. Thank You! Travel well. Enjoy this 💎
A local and regional favorite, and loacted right on the water! Plenty of picnic tables and a covered pavilion make this a wonderful place to sit outdoors and enjoy your meal. Many options on the menu; seafood, hot dogs, burgers and everything's quite tasty. The hot dogs are delicious especially loving the meat sauce. It can get busy during peak meal times but it's such a wonderful place to hang out by the water that you just don't want to leave.
The place has been completely redone! Service was excellent! Got the fish sandwich with fries and a white hot! Hurry and get there for your supply of hot sauce!! Great views of the lake to boot!
It takes about 6 hours to get to Oswego, NY from my house in PA. Rudy's is the main reason I visit. Seriously! I get the haddock sandwich every time. The fish tastes so good! It is fresh and it kind of melts in your mouth. This is a great place to eat while socially distancing as well. It was pretty busy when I went and still there was plenty of outdoor seating without being close to anyone. The staff is on point / friendly and for as busy as it was my order did not take long at all (of course the amazing view of Lake Ontario helped to pass the time).
UPDATE: Another Great visit to Rudy's !! My 3 times a year visit from Long Island was another great meal from this legendary place on the Lake.!! Haddock on Point as always, the Salt Potatoes always a treat and The Texas Hots are legendary. The views on a nice day of Lake Ontario while eating outdoors is always awesome, especially at Sunset.!! Jason, Doug and crew are always friendly and welcoming and the improvements Jason has made to Rudy's is awesome.!! They have streamlined ordering and food pick up nicely and the place just looks great and modern.!! Great job by your contractors Jason.!! All of the folks who work there are always friendly and welcoming.!! as long as i can make it up to see family, i will always make Rudy's a stop to enjoy quality food as i have for the past 50 plus years.!! Thank You Jason and Doug and rest of the crew for making my visits and meals a fun memory.!! See you closing weekend at the end of October...which this season is October 27 and NOT Columbus Day.!! After another family visit and Rudy's fix for opening weekend of 2016 I can't say enough about Rudy's and will always look forward to visiting Doug and the rest of the crew whenever I travel up from Long Island.!! I have been enjoying Rudy's since 1968 that i can remember..probably longer as i am sure i had been there earlier than that since it was a regular spot to eat as a kid living in Oswego...yes 99% of the food is fried, but this place is and has always been quality food.! From the Haddock sandwiches to Rudy's world famous Texas Hots..you can get anything with the Texas Hot Sauce on it..Coney's , burgers..fries & the fish. Quality and consistency is key..the Texas Hot sauce has the same flavor for as long i have been eating it...back in the days when Rudy used to man the fry station and run the line..the only thing that has changed is the slight expansion of the building and the picnic tables out back with the deck. and now a mini bar out back during the nice weather for your beer needs...other than that, the yummy flavor has been timeless..if your in Oswego dumping a child off at college to freeze in the winters...lol...hop over to Rudy's and try it out...or if your just in Oswego for a visit, Harborfest or a night at the track, make time for a bite at Rudy's..enjoy the killer food, sunsets as well as Doug and the rest of the awesome counter crew who are always friendly and get your food out to you as quickly as it is plated by the killer crew working their tails off in front of the hot fryers making this great food..and don't forget to grab a jar of Texas Hot Sauce to bring home..
A yearly stop for us, such a great lakeview restaurant with pretty good food, plenty of seafood options for the area and friendly staff considering how many people they are dealing with. View 10 (Breathtaking sunsets) Food 8+ (Huge selection) Staff 9+ (Knowledgeable and patient)
As Oswego alumni, we love to eat at Rudy's when traveling to or through Oswego. Haddock with cheese is my go to and the haddock is fresh and flaky. Love sitting outside, although you have to mind the gulls. There is a new to us eat in area which gives a choice in weather. Not an all year round eatery, it will be closing end of October.
My favorite food in town when open hands down bar none. The view combined with the smell (on good days...) make for a very unique and special experience. If you can eat around sunset make sure to stick around - the view is one of a kind and very special. Everything on the menu is great but I recommend a Fish Sandwich with a side of the hot sauce.
Rudy's. Was an absolutely amazing place. Customer service was friendly and welcoming. The scenery was absolutely mind. The owner recommended I try the center hot fish sandwich who was running the deep prior by the way? . Which was absolutely the best fish sandwich I've ever had. ThereEnough stars in the sky to give this place. A proper review. You gotta check it out and you should try the center cut hot fish sandwich which is basically a fish sandwith a sweet and a little spicy chili and cheese
Rudy's is a tradition... Fish sandwich and other types of seafoods also steak sandwiches hamburgers and hot dogs all good food... You can order through your phone or you can go inside order there are picnic tables in the sun there are also picnic tables under a roofing building plenty of places to sit... Rudy's is on Lake Ontario you can sit and watch the ducks the geese the boats and more...
Love this place. We’re in NC & have family in Syracuse. Rudy’s is a “destination” for us every time we visit NY. The food and service is great. The Blue Plate scallops and haddock is my favorite. Their seafood is perfectly cooked, nicely breaded and never greasy. We love the outdoor dining and rocky beach. Our grandchildren love to play on the beach, wade in the lake, and throw rocks in the water. It’s just a nice evening out for the family. You just have to watch for the seagulls. They are thieves. Haha. They will steal your food if they get the chance…and we laugh about that and love them. The little ice cream shop next door is also a family favorite. Delicious ice cream with dozens of flavors and frozen delights. We enjoy our seafood dinner and then walk over for some ice cream dessert.
2 years since we ventured north and this is one place we always visit. Food is always so good (haddock sandwich, fried clam strips, pink plate with fried shrimp and fries). Fun to watch and listen to the behind the counter action, such a great staff and great view if eating outside. Lots of parking but can really draw a crowd at times. Some really awesome sunsets on the shores of Lake Ontario in Oswego NY.

Lovely food in a lovely setting - thumbs up for center cut fish sandwich, clam strips & new england clam chowder...also love that they sell Coke products
Great quality, pricing, staff and views. I can't recommend enough to visit. \n\nThe shrimp and crab roll was ultra fresh.

Rudy’s is a family tradition. Order online or in person. They now take credit cards, but charge extra. Don’t feed the seagulls. Order the lobster roll. Order the fried scallops. Order the fish & chips. Cheeseburger Hot was meh, skip it. Also skip the fried crab bites & jalapeño & cheese things. They also have good fried smelt here.
Beautiful place to eat outside, picnic tables by the lake. Takes me back to a simpler time enjoying fried food by the water and watching the gentle waves. Husband liked the scallops n I liked the french fries. Next time I'll try the fish or a hot dog. Clam strips a bit too battered for me, was ok. The trayed food is placed in a brown paper bag for secure walking to outside tables. Friendly, efficient staff. We really liked the experience, like the clam shacks in New England. Nice!
Two fish sandwiches very good however onion petals were just warm everything should be hot at this place the amount of business that they do....... They all hussle to take care of people when they place their orders they all hustle to take care of people to deliver their orders......
Great place to sit out by the lake and have some tasty seafood; the fish is fantastic. Lots of tables, plenty of parking, and speedy service. If it's crowded, you might miss the signs for ordering: line up on the right side of the building, place your order, and wait on the left side for your buzzer to go off.
Update 6/27/25. Wow prices getting out of hand especially when i paid for half pound scallops and get like 10 and the fried clams were barely over half full in container. Not impressed with this establishment any longer. Food is excellent. The lull of the yelling cashiers spewing out orders is part of the fun and experience. Very few rocks to skip as they have dumped many truckloads of processed Round Rock's which makes it difficult to Stand on by the Water. They are in severe need of remodeling for their bathrooms which are past due about ten years ago
A great location with plenty of outdoor picnic tables in the lake, plus some limited indoor seating (no a/c that I could tell🥵). They are very efficient - order where you walk in then get a buzzer to bring to pick up your order (like Panera does). Do not expect table service here. This is old time charm and very casual. The food is not what you want if you are looking for healthy options. Lots of fried foods! The fries were very good.
Mostly deep fried fish and other fried items. It tastes great but I wish there was a baked fish option or more options for fish in it's healthy form rather than only deep fried. I don't recommend the salmon burger which I had this time but I did like the lobster roll and their seafood salad sandwich. Prices are relatively high but they do have craft beer on tap and a nice view right on lake Ontario. I recommend this place if you like fried fish, casual dining and a nice atmosphere
I've been visiting Oswego for 30 years and never knew this place was here right on Lake Ontario. On the water dining, Excellent menu, they know how to do it here. Foam boxes and paper napkins casual, make your order and wait for the buzzer. I tried the Fried fish, Spicy Fried Green Beans(so good) and the coleslaw. I'm a big guy and did not walk away hungry. Rocky beach to stroll down, wet yer feet.
They really improved the entrance and ordering set up a lot, and the order staff were very friendly! Outside area with picnic tables was clean and the view of the lake was awesome. The food was good, but nothing special. Most of the items like shrimp, clam strips, and chicken stripe are the usual pre-breaded, from the freezer variety, but decent quality.
We went for the beach, not the food. The kids love to skip rocks and get in the water. It smells bad obviously, and they could do more clean up along the shore line. Possibly put a couple trash cans toward the road so people won’t throw gross things into the water or in the rocks. Nice for a change of scenery though.
7/19/25: UPDATE - We were heading home on a recent Saturday and decided to take a side trip to stop at Rudy's Drive-In for dinner. We had a long wait just to get food during our last visit here in June 2024, but we decided to give Rudy's another try on this trip. We arrived a bit before 4 PM and had less than a 10 minute wait to place our orders as the restaurant wasn't very busy. We ordered two fish sandwiches and one order of sweet potato fries. Once we'd placed our orders, we had less than a 10 minute wait for our food. The weather was perfect that day, so ate our meals at one of the covered picnic tables outdoors. The fish sandwiches and fries were just as good as they were during our last visit here, although both fish portions were smaller than during our last visit. Our food bill including tax totaled a bit less than $30. All together, our second visit here was a bit more enjoyable due to a wait time for food of less than 20 minutes total start to finish, significantly less than during our first visit here. We'd definitely recommend Rudy's if you're in the area. I'd also recommend arriving early to beat the crowd, especially if the weather is nice. 6/16/24: Rudy's Drive-In restaurant had been on our bucket list after reading the good reviews, so we made a stop here for lunch in mid-June. There's some limited parking roadside in front of the restaurant, and a parking area across the road, but both of those areas can fill up quickly. Beyond that, parking continues along the roadside a little further down. The restaurant was very busy when we got there just before 3 PM on a Sunday afternoon. The ordering process is a little different here. You decide what to order from the menu boards on the walls inside. Then you wait in line to place your order at the counter. They give you a buzzer when you pay, and then you wait for the buzzer to buzz when your food is ready. On the day we visited, we ended up waiting 20 minutes in line just to place our orders at the counter, and then another 25 minutes waiting for our food to be ready for pick up. That may not be the norm. There are plenty of tables in the seating area outside, plus an almost unlimited number of tables located in back of the restaurant, so seating shouldn't be an issue. The lakeside seating is a great feature, especially during nice weather. We ordered two haddock fish sandwiches ($9.89/ea), an order of sweet potato fries ($4.90), and two beverages. Both fish sandwiches were served up very hot and were delicious. Each fish portion was a very generous size. We've had more expensive haddock fish fry dinners elsewhere where the fish portion wasn't much larger than these sandwiches. The sweet potato fries were really crispy and very tasty. The only not-so-good thing was the lemonade we ordered. It tasted more like sugar water without any actual lemonade taste. Other than that minor issue, we had two delicious and generous size meals for a bit over $30 plus tax, a fair price for the quality and quantity. We would definitely eat here again based on this first visit, except we won't order the lemonade again. Enjoy, and thanks for reading!
Honest Rudy's review! Honestly, I wish I could give it like a 3.75! I ordered a haddock samwhich, fried calamari, fried mushrooms, onion pedals, a budwiser, and root beer! Total was just under 37 dollars. All the food came out fast and looked fantastic! The portions were surprisingly really small. My haddock sandwich was crispy but lacked flavor and was decent sized. They didn't give me home made tarter. It was commercial grade but they get cranking so I understand. My mushrooms, and onion pedal were decent but nothing special. Was cooked proper and not over done. The calamari was good but not as salty as I would have liked and the breading was just ok. My beer was cold on the outside but not all the way through. Again no biggie it got drank lol. I still cleaned the entire tray myself. The view was great and it was a beautiful evening. One thing to note is the seagulls are absolute SAVAGES. Leave nothing unattended for pictures lol. I'd 100% go back but the place didn't knock my socks off. Edit.... after looking at my pictures, the haddock samich was actually pretty big! Lol
We got the fish sandwich, fried scallops, fried shrimp and clam chowder. The only thing we were disappointed in was the clamp chowder. It was very liquidity and had no flavor. Everything else was great. The owner/manage=/staff was very friendly and helpful. He gave us a refund for the clam chowder with no problem. Both the inside and outside areas were great! We stayed after our meal & explored the waterfront of Lake Ontario. For ice cream go walk to Bev's for a wonderful &delicious variety of treats!
In the area for a few months and decided to stop by after multiple recommendations. The service and location are great. However the food was not as good as I had hoped. The shrimp is the same kind you get in a Chinese food restaurant. It is small, pressed down, with heavy breading. The haddock was hot and fresh but there was almost no seasoning. The tartar sauce is Kraft dipping cups which is surprising considering the seafood vibe of the restaurant. I’d recommend stopping by because the prices aren’t overwhelming high and the location is nice. The hot dogs were good!
This is a seasonal restaurant with decent food. What really saves this place is that 1, it is an icon! A must visit if in Oswego. And 2, the atmosphere and view is incredible! You can grab a drink and dinner, sit on the shore of Lake Ontario, watch the boats floating on the waves and enjoy the breeze coming in off the lake!
Location was right on the water. Outdoor seating was nice. Fast, efficient ordering. Food was mostly fried. We had claim strips, max and cheese, wings, hot dog, chicken fingers, potatoes. Fried pickles where not that great and the Philly cheese steak came on a burger bun that just didn't look that appetizing. Food was average. Prices where fair.

Go for the View and ambiance. Food is nothing special. Food is very bland...needs salt and pepper or a wedge of lemmon would help. $2.50 for a 4oz serving of macaroni salad. The pickle at $1.85 was good.
I've been meaning to try this place for years after hearing about it. Finally, I got around to it after seven years of saying to take the drive up with the family. Let's just say it was a bit to desire. The scenery and location are beautiful as long as you don't look down the road towards the campus of SUNY Oswego and gaze at the RV Park on the right-hand side of the road. The shoreline is breathtaking to gaze out upon Lake Ontario. Food wise, expansive, and subpar. Never thought I would see a hamburger or sausage sandwich cost less than chicken tenders. So the family's order was a Haddock sandwich, lobster Mac and Cheese, two orders of chicken tenders, two orders of fries, three bottles of coke, and a bottle of juice. Total: $64. Yikes! The only item that didn't look like it came out of a highly processed bag of frozen food that you could get at the grocery store far cheaper was the Lobster Mac and Cheese, which appeared to be homemade and quite tasty. The haddock piece was triangle in shape, and the breading had the constituency that you would find in a bag of Gordon Fisherman filets. The chicken tenders were just as equally subpar, which I could've gotten better ones for far cheaper three miles down the road at Tully's. I can't believe salt potatoes cost less there than French fries. I've been to plenty of seafood restaurants from the Gulf at Tampa Bay up the Atlantic coastline of the Carolinas to Virginia and had some really good seafood. I've been to plenty of New York Fish fry as well, some great, and others are not so great. Rudy's seems to be like a bunch of food stands you would find at the New York State Fair wrapped into something that resembles a traditional Fish Fry while trying to be an Atlantic seafood restaurant In closing, it's great to try out, but if you have to take a drive up there just to experience it...it's a one and done. One star for the scenery, one star for the Lobster Mac, and one star for the service.
I give 3 stars because of the employees. Mac salad was plain. Ordered 2 only received 1. The workers were really great though! We enjoyed them and the conversations! The workers were also very informative. Clams were slightly overcooked. The chili was bland, but, the Hofmann hot dogs were good. Tables outside were not maintained for cleanliness. Employees were rushed and seemed short handed.
If it were not for the lake and the beautiful view, I would never recommend this restaurant. The food is average, the portions are average, the price is far more than comparable places serving seafood. If you love a fantastic sunset, Rudy’s is the place for you - as long as you do not mind an expensive dinner served on a paper plate.
2024-06-08 - 3 Stars ( until question is answered satisfactory ) Short wait Great Staff Had the sausage and it was very good. Tried to leave a tip for the young lady that too our order as I had asked a few different questions on items others had ordered. Said she was not allowed to to take the tip per management. Really? Management why are the cashiers allow to accept tips?
The fish has always been soggy which is a sign it is under cooked. The prices are high which you would think we are paying to see the lake, that must be it because you get little portions for the cost. Our niece loves it but it's not the same as it was years ago. I'm really not sure if I ever want to go back. I've been to a lot better places.
First time. Not impressed. The view is great but the food is mediocre and overpriced. Dirty picnic tables, kraft tartar sauce, cheapest plastic silverware. On the plus side, the inside is spotless clean and seems well run. With a few changes this place could be fantastic. I would suggest tight vinyl tablecloths so the tables can be properly cleaned. Upgrade your plasticware, serve homemade tartar sauce and better quality haddock. Just my thoughts.
Gorgeous views of Lake Ontario and very friendly staff. The food was good, not great. It was slightly better than fast food quality without fast food prices. The calamari was pretty good, as was the fried shrimp. The fish sandwich was soggy and mostly tasteless. The stuffed tator tots had a weird taste I did not enjoy. While it was a fun experience overall, I would not go back for the food.

Visited Rudy’s during our week long vacation on Lake Ontario. The fish came out in bites, not a whole piece of fish. It didn’t have much flavor at all. The french fries had zero salt on them and dr…
The seafood was terrible. The blue special scallops and fish tasted worse than frozen fish sticks. My guest's fries were ice cold. Her fish was inedible. Last year, the view was beautiful, and the food and service were delightful. Remodeling has removed the picture windows. No more lake views. No more decent food. Too bad. To think we drove an hour to endure this. Never again!
Loved Rudys growing up as a kid. Was the Best fish fry in oswego county IMO. Key word being "was" sense i haven't been there in years I decided to go. Ordered what they call a "Red plate" haddock dinner with fries and coleslaw. Only took about 15 mins or less for my food to come up. Which wasn't bad because they were busy. Anyways...i get home and open up my brown bag plate...and much to my surprise i got fish nuggets, fries and coleslaw. Fish was very bland, also very greasy like they didn't wait long enough for the frier to heat up. Overall I wouldn't recommend. However I will be going back at some point to try the burgers because they too used to be some of the best around.
I grew up one town over so Rudy’s was a staple in my life until I moved away. I went online to check out the hours and noticed you can order ahead which is a nice addition. The food portions were severely lacking. I only got 7 fried mushrooms that tasted good, but in the l past it was easily double that for the same price. The fish, while still bigger than the bun, was still much smaller than it used to be and had far less flavor. My wife ordered the fried clams and they were great. Everything was cooked perfectly, but the price just doesn’t justify the portions and lack of flavor. I wasn’t impressed and I was really looking forward to it! No need to return. Bev’s Ice Cream is a different story though! Yum!!!
