We loved it! Cool place to spend an afternoon and do good for the community. The animals are kept well.

Aluxes Ecopark is a simple, enjoyable place to visit if you want a calm break surrounded by nature. The park is easy to walk through, with clear paths and plenty of shade, which makes it comfortable to explore without feeling tired or rushed. Everything is well organised, so you can move at your own pace and enjoy the surroundings. The animals are one of the main highlights. Many of them have been rescued, and the park provides helpful information that explains where they came from and how they are cared for. This makes the visit interesting and informative without being overly emotional. It feels more like a learning experience than a typical tourist attraction. The park is clean and well maintained, with signs that are clear and easy to follow. There are also a few nice spots to stop, take photos, or sit and relax for a moment. Overall, Aluxes Ecopark is a pleasant place to spend a few hours, especially if you enjoy nature and wildlife. It offers a balanced experience that is educational, peaceful, and well run, making it a worthwhile stop for visitors of all ages.

Awesome rehabilitation/conservation center. Great layout with some very cool exhibits. Solid interpretive signs in English and in Spanish. This nonprofit really seems to be doing good work in the field on wildlife conservation.

A totally magical and wonderful experience. This animal rescue offers a place for wildlife to heal as well as an opportunity for people to experience animals they may never elsewhere encounter. The trails are easy to navigate even for those with mobility issues. Although we were informed to be quiet so as not to disturb and agitate the rescues; a few times we had to allow the noisy and disrespectful visitors to pass. After standing quietly for several moments, the jungle came to life again. The monkeys played, the birds sang, and we absorbed their relaxed harmonies. In all it took us 2 1/2 hours to stroll through and every second was well worth it. As people who do not enjoy zoos, the only time I felt empathy was for the wild cats and fox. Their habitats seemed small and they were pacing and agitated. We highly recommend a visit here and as a bonus it’s on the way to or from the ruins, so easy to do both in the same day. A special shout out to Guadalupe for her knowledge and kind assistance on how to best enjoy the reserve.

Such a lovely place. The lady who greeted us spoke very good English & explained everything very well, she was very friendly. We got a colectivo to the place which cost 25 pesos. So many animals to see & you can tell they are well looked after. Definitely recommend going here!

Warmly recommended! A beautigul park and lots of intetesting animals that you can see from up close, and all for a good purpose - to help reinhabit animals in the wild. What more can you ask? The walking is easy and it takes about 2-3 hours of leisure walk.

Lovely eco park, tickets were a good price. Can tell the animals are treated well and happy in their habitats. Me and my friends enjoyed a day trip here. Staff on front desk were really friendly. Toilets were clean and well equipped. Although, do believe the cafe only sold snacks, not hot food.

The most amazing reserve I’ve ever been to. We stayed in Palenque 5 days and went to Aluxes 3 times during our stay! The place was simply magical, every time we went we were alone and the animals were just relaxing and living. So wonderful to see all these beautiful animals safe from captivity. Some of the reviews seem to not understand that some of these animals cannot get back into the wild and need to be taken care off. The place truly is a jungle, we have been to the real jungle in Mexico and it looks exactly like it. If i could give this place 10 stars I would. Please continue to support this facility to improve the space even more and with it improving the lives of the wonderful animals living in it. Also 150 Pesos is definitely not expensive for the amazing structure and the many types of animals you get to see.

Accessibility: they have 1 wheelchair but unfortunately it is broken so they have no working wheelchairs for guests. If walking is difficult for you, this may not be the place to visit. There are built in seats all throughout the park which made it do-able for me using a cane, but it was still a lot of walking. The bathrooms were wheelchair accessible and the entire park is flat ground with no stairs. There were sections of the park that were very sunny but most of the park was shaded from the trees. I still recommend wearing sunblock, a sunhat, and sunglasses as it is VERY hot and humid. A sweater is not needed in July, even for kids. BRING WATER. You will not come across very many employees while in the park, so if you need assistance, make sure to ask when you are entering. What it is: This is a beautiful animal rehabilitation facility where they rescue animals from bad situations, house and feed them so they become strong again, then let them go back into the wild. Some of the animals, however, choose to stay here because they enjoy it (such as the birds). Cost: 150 pesos per person. Size: the place is medium size...big for kids but not super huge for adults. The average adult could probably go through this whole place in 2-3 hours but for me, a person with physical disabilities, it took 4 hours. Experience: this place is truly beautiful and worth coming if you love animals and nature. You will see crocodiles, birds, butterflies, ocelots, snakes, turtles, monkeys, jaguars, ants, hawks, pigs, coatís, iguanas, deer, tapirs, bearded lizards, raccoons, manatees, and flamingos. Some of these animals are in enclosed areas, and some of them (such a birds, butterflies, and iguanas, are just roaming around freely. The whole place is very beautiful. There is a café if you forget your own food and drinks, or want something here. There is also a gift shop before you exit and they sell t-shirts, reusable water bottles, jewelry, patches, stuffed animals, posters, books, and hats.

This is an absolute MUST GO when you’re around the area. I was blown away by the beauty of all the species living in this natural paradise. Plus, by means of going you’re supporting a good cause! Indeed, this reserve is managed by a non-profit organisation that rescues and reintroduces, when possible, animals in their natural habitat. Here some photos I took - but you must go see with your own eyes. Ticket is 150$ and is worth every bit of it.

This is by far one of the best animal rehabilitation centres I have ever been too!! All of the animals are so happy and treated with respect, dignity and care. We even met a lovely guy who was being the mother of an ant eater which requires 24hr care for months on end. Absolutely heart-warming. The park itself makes for a lovely walk and all of the animals are visible and happy to be seen - not like in Zoomat where they either hide because of their awful surroundings or just look depressed because they are on their own. This place is the opposite to that. We were able to feed manetees, spend time with giant tortoises and learn the stories of animals who had been abused and who are now learning how to enjoy their life again like Lola the Jaguar and the two adorable spider monkeys who were rescued from a life of eating potato chips and drinking Coca-Cola living in a cage - not joking that is a real story and is so sad. Thank you Aluxes Ecopark for the work you do in rehabilitation and re-introduction of native animals back into nature. Because of you we were able to see once critically endangered animals living freely around Palenque. We even saw macaws flying over our hotel. You are a generator of joy and natural life.

Had such a great time at Aluxes ! A lot of animals, park is really clean. It is possible to take some animals in your hands or to path them (for example baby cocodrilos, big turtles, etc). The park is kind of big and can easily take the entire afternoon if you have time! I would definitely recommend! Rain didn’t stop us and we had so much fun in the park ! And funny pictures to send to our parents !

My favorite place in all of Palenque, i even enjoyed it more than the ruins. All the animals are rescued in some way, such as from poachers, and they've even brought back the Scarlet Macaw to the region after it was hunted out of Palenque. Most of the animals seem happy to be there, especially because a lot of them have large open enclosures (lots of the birds such as the Flamingos and the Macaws even have no cages at all and are allowed to roam free), but some of the animals especially the Jaguars have too small of a cage and don't look happy at all :( I would love if they gave all the animals more room, but I understand they are a non-profit so these things take money and effort. Overall though it's such a beautiful place and I like how friendly many of the animals are. It's a sign that they aren't afraid of people and their keepers, which means they are probably treated very well.

In general a good place, the animals look healthy and the park is really nice. It would be a 5 star if the cat’s like jaguars and ocelot get more space. Their enclosures are way too small.

Awesome animal rehab. Really educational for me. The jaguar and ocelot in their small cages were clearly unhappy but other animals seemed ok with their situation and eager to pose for the camera. I was happy to see trees and flowers unrecognizable to me and enjoyed the walk. Take mosquito repellent!

I found this reserve to be a great place of tranquility. There were some nice animals. One thing is, I don’t know if they get any other exercise other than in their cages. Staff were extremely friendly.

Really great place to visit, I usually try to avoid zoos so was skeptical of this place at first but it proved to be somewhat different. Most of the birds and monkeys were free to roam which was nice to see, the areas for most other animals seemed really open and natural too. My only criticism is that the big and small cat enclosures seemed too small.

Arjan Kunst
Arjan Kunst

Although the intentions were great and it seems like a nice organisation, the cages/ habitats of the animals seem too small and the purpose or plan to reintegrate the animals was too unclear. The park would benefit more if they would show more about their efforts to how they want to reintegrate the animals. Now it looks like a regular zoo in a nicer environment.

Great mission and sanctuary, but as a visitor it left a lot to be desired. More consistent signage was needed and readily available maps are needed. Several water features were dried up for the animals. The family in front of me in line lived in town and it’s a shame that this facility does not offer discounts for locals to enjoy explore the sanctuary that is clearly priced for tourists. You cannot preach environmentalism without acknowledging the community you rely on.
