We had the stuffed eggplant appetizer, burratta salad and chicken saltimboca and they were outstanding. Spencer was our server, the overall food, atmosphere and service was superb!
Excellent experience! Amy our bartender, and later waitress, did an excellent job of making us feel welcomed, and cared for. I am pretty sure, we have randomly found (thanks Google maps 😉) our new favorite Italian restaurant in the entire low country! The atmosphere is on point! And the vibe is subdued. You simply MUST try the stuffed banana peppers (appetizer) ! I lost count of how many times I said to my wife "oh my God " they ARE that good! 11/10. Will definitely come again! Most highly recommend!
Our server was impeccable and the food was nothing short of amazing. I am gluten free and was amazed they offered gluten free bread. And it was delicious. The special drink menu offers a variety of awesome drinks and I had a delicious tiramisu martini. I then had chicken Marsala with gf pasta and it didn’t disappoint. My husband had the crab cakes which were the best he ever had from Maine to Maryland through the coast. Every dish was made to perfection and the cheesecake desserts are homemade and brought in and also creamy and phenomenal. Caffè Piccolo has indoor and outdoor seating and I can’t wait to go back!
My favorite dining experience while at the beach! Loved the French-like atmosphere of the outdoor dining. It was absolutely gorgeous! The best dish we ordered was the special: scallops over ravioli stuffed with blue crab. Yummy! It was rich and the scallops were huge and perfectly cooked. The marinara sauce wasn't the best...it needed to be sweeter. The bread and garlic oil dip was fantastic and our waitress was very good. I definitely recommend dining here!
Wow! Majorly Impressed with the food at Cafe Piccolo.. Whether you sit inside or outside there is major atmosphere! We will be back! Hats off to the chef. Server was top notch! FAVORITE ITALIAN ON THE GRAND STRAND
Authentic Italian in Pawleys Island at it's finest! Amazing food atmosphere and service! Prices and portions were fantastic! The salad with gorgonzola dressing! Penne alla vodka sauce with meatballs and tried to stuffed banana peppers! So good!
This is an incredible gem hidden in plain sight. Everything about this place felt thought out, the inside sleek and the outside a garden paradise. Our server, Joe, was great and the food was wonderful! Finally, a place that does sautéed calamari and does it right! The scallops were cooked to perfection. The cucumber cocktail was very well made. This is one place you don’t want to miss out on. One word of caution though: the portions are generous! Appetizers are more like for a party of four and we were only two, so we ended up only eating about a fourth of our meals after soup and salad and the appetizer. We are so thrilled to find this place and cannot say enough about it. This place is on our ‘Do Every Trip’ list! Thank you to the creators, the chefs, the bartenders and servers who make this place what it is. We can’t wait to come back!
Had a lovely and delicious dinner for Valentine’s Day! We were so happy to had a date night for that special day, but unfortunately the restaurant was completely busy and they were out of lots of food so I had to chase for a different dish 3 times. Server was kinda lost, but it was understandable seeing how busy they was. Besides that, the atmosphere and drinks was great. It’s good to make a reservation.
Parking was the only issue. Food and service was great. A little more cheese for the pasta, but flavors perfect. I got the gorgonzola dressing on my salad after reading another review about how good it was and it did not disappoint. My husband ordered the tomato basil soup and it was also spot on. We both had the bologenese sauce with pasta and added a meatball and yum!! Definitely coming back here.
We sat on the outside patio and the atmopshere was wonderful. They allowed our puppy to sit on the patio with us and put us in a corner out of the way so we did not have to worry about disturbing other customers. The service was excellent - our waiter Chris was very attentive and friendly. The food was well prepared and delicious. We will be back often for sure!
Outstanding! Fresh, gourmet Italian food with a fun atmosphere (try the intimate outdoor seating if the weather's good). The service was excellent and the staff was very accommodating.
Absolutely amazing. We called for a reservation and asked about gluten free options and the hostess not only remembered I had Celiac, but she also let our server know ahead of time. Our server was great and even offered us warm GF bread (prepared in a separate space). Their GF pasta was amazing. Would absolutely go back if we were in the area again.
Todra made our first experience at Caffe Piccolo with 13 people, one we will never forget! She was kind, gave excellent recommendations and she was beyond helpful with the timing of our meal. The food was incredible and we loved her service so much! Following our meal, we went to the bar. There we met Charlie who gave us the proper nightcap and local recommendations in the area. All in all we were more than taken care of. We were welcomed by this staff! We will be returning!
Exploring the area and came across this little gem of a spot. The bar is new and very nice, and their outdoor space looks like a really great place to dine, great atmosphere. Staff are super friendly and informative and the food was delicious, and presented beautifully. We will be back again for sure.
Was worth the drive from Charleston, SC! Caffe Piccolo embraces the ambiance of a local Pawley’s Island dining experience with a Tuscan flare and delivers the mouthwatering cuisine of authentic Italian dishes! Mamma Mía the burrata is the bomb!
What a wonderful experience. This place is totally worth the Trip. The food was wonderful and staff outstanding. Thanks Chris for making it a wonderful evening.
This was the best Italian Food experience for me. The server was very courteous and was very mindful of my special requests and accommodated is very well. The BEST TIRAMISU desert ever. Love this place and will be back when in this area.
Excellent food with excellent service. And really good sweet tea!!
Stuffed banana peppers, chicken Gorgonzola, chicken piccata... All excellent. Also, Jonny took great care of us... Will be back,!
First time dining at Caffe Piccolo though have been to their sister restaurant, Costa, many times. From the crusty, fresh bread to the housemade balsamic to the al dente linguine with clams to the incredibly light limoncello cake, everything was amazing! Grazie!
Had a lovely al fresco dining experience here. The pappardelle & diver scallops did not disappoint! My son had the bolognese with a giant meatball and loved it.
I can not say enough about Chris and the service we received today. He helped us coordinate a wonderful baby shower for my daughter in law in a private setting. The food, service and ambiance were absolutely amazing. We were made to feel welcomed with a warm setting and wonderful family brunch. This place is amazing and we will definitely be back again. We can not thank you and the chef enough! 6 stars in our book.
Best food, great place for gathering with friends and family.
Been to Pawleys several times but did not discover this hidden gem until yesterday. Had the scallops and medallions. Cannot put to words how tasty this meal was. We sat outside on their cute patio with fans that helped with the warm day. The homemade bread with olive oil to dip was delicious. The service was great! Can't wait to go back to Pawleys Island and this will be our go to restaurant.
Great place and atmosphere. No wrong choice to choose from. Everything was fantastic and the employees are so accommodating.
Took my boyfriend there for his birthday dinner. The food was amazing. Service was great. Definitely will return, Johnny. Our server was on queue all evening. Will request him again scallop and shrimp scampi was awesome, tomato basil soup wonderful
Veal Gorgonzola was probably the best I’ve had ❤️. I am a very picky Italian eater and this place is delicious Julia. My service person was awesome. And Chris the manager/owner was awesome.
Diner here Saturday night with a friend and had a fantastic chicken piccata dinner! The bread and dippy oil is my favorite! Will be back for sure!
We celebrated my fathers 78th birthday here on May 3rd. Gina was our server and made our night special. Everyone loved their food and the outside seating is really cozy and comfortable. Can’t wait to go back when we’re in that part of the beach
A fantastic restaurant. We were served by Amanda, who was the absolute sweetest, most kind waitress I may have ever had. She was just chatty enough for our table. The food was outstanding, and Amanda and several other staff went out of their way to help us get their favorites and the best options. I can firmly say I have never had better mussels, clams, or oysters in my life. The restaurant is beautiful, and they do a fantastic job at creating a very alive, fresh and warm atmosphere. From the soup to the mushroom ragu, I absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone willing to paid a couple extra for that real quality.
Amazing Italian, go early! Stuffed banana peppers were great, we had the specials a Crab Topped Halibut and Seared Diver Scallops over blue crab raviolis. Great service and atmosphere
We chose this restaurant off of a recommendation from our parents, who live in town. It lived up to every bit of their praise! The food was amazing and the service was very attentive. My children can be a little picky, but they enjoyed everything as well. I have a definite fix on Gorgonzola, but the Gorgonzola dressing on the side salad was ridiculously delicious. If they ever decide to bottle it, I’d buy! I also had the Veal Gorgonzola for dinner, and it was the perfect meal. There was a scallop with lobster risotto special, also, that my husband and son both enjoyed. We will certainly be back!
So impressed! I have had amazing seafood all my life (because I’m from a seaside location with locals who have snooty taste!), and this restaurant did not disappoint. I had the most amazing linguini with clams, with at least 30 or 40 clam shells left over. The bread was just like I remembered from the time I lived in Italy in the 80’s. Seriously! Can’t wait to come back!!
Absolutely loved this place! We had the night's special and the fish was so tender it melted in your mouth! The bread was so delicious and fresh. It reminded of my Nonna's homemade bread! Our waiter - he was great! Everyone was very nice. Great atmosphere! We definitely will be back!
Everything about Cafe Piccolo was amazing. From the outdoor seating to the service to the food. Top notch. We have been there twice and will be back many more times. My favorite restaurant in Pawleys Island by far.
Sat out on the patio for the ambiance (excellent) great selection of wine (wife) beer (me). Great pour on the wine. Server was good, knew her menu, stayed up with us, but not obtrusively. Very good dining experience!
Excellent meals which included Shrimp with marinara sauce, Diver Scallops with linguine, and Chicken Parm with a side of Penne. Waitress was attentive and courteous. The only complaint from the table was that they felt it was a bit pricey but the food was excellent. As the old saying goes.... You get what you pay for!
The food at Cafe Piccolo was phenomenal. I had chicken scarbiello and my fiance had the scallops with crab stuffed ravioli. The parking lot was full, not an ideal set up. My sense is the people next door at the raw bar were parked there too. Service was a tad slow as we had to ask for drink refills. Again, food was fantastic 😊
Overall the food was good and the service as well. The buratta salad was excellent but the pastas were average.
We’ve been dining at Café Piccolo for years, and as always, everything was perfect—the ambience, the mood, the noise level. However, the menu hasn’t changed in quite some time. While the classics are still delicious and dependable, it might be nice to see a few seasonal specials or new dishes to keep things fresh and exciting for regular guests.
Disappointed that there was not any eggplant parm- in fact there isn’t ANY parm on the menu. We shared the crab cake appetizer which was good but not outstanding. Complimentary bread with olive oil sauce for dipping was great. Our entree portions were way too large and so we could have shared one. We had the chicken franchise and chicken gorgonzola. Two chicken breasts in each- way too much meat for me personally and not enough pasta. The flavours were very good. The atmosphere was just okay as we were seated by the bar despite having a 6:15 booking. It was loud (lots of background noise for those with hearing issues) and the tables were crammed together so tight one woman practically sat at our table trying to squeeze through. The service was adequate. The parking lot is a nightmare.
What a great find in Pawlly’s island. A nice bar area and several great booths that lend themselves to a quiet/romantic evening if you choose. The food was spectacular. I would highly recommend.
Very disappointed. We use to dine here regularly and always enjoyed our meal. Moved 10 months ago but had to return to the area. The one place we made reservations for was Caffe Piccolo. Now I wish we hadn’t. The atmosphere and service are still great but the prices have increased and the quantity and quality of the food has declined significantly. Use to tell anyone headed this way to go to caffe piccolo bu no more
Had the crab stuffed mushrooms, not good at all not even sure it had crab in them. Tomatoe soup was delicious! Rigatoni bolonaise wasn't good or bad just a little bland, not much taste at all. But all in all I'd go back and try something else. It wasn't horrible and the waitress was great.
We have eaten at Cafe Piccolo for many many years… and we have had many awesome meals, however, Our dinner tonight was subpar… very much! My $45 scallop meal was Very, very disappointing. They were tough. The foot was left on the scallops, and the risotto was nothing short of a total greasy concoction… I have ordered the scallops at this restaurant for at least 18 years and have never been disappointed. Tonight was a disappointment… we own our own business and I have to say this to the owners. Something needs to be done. The prices have gone up and the quality of your food has gone down. I wish you all the best But it will be a long time before we return. Thank you.
A harsh realization… That it is no longer worth it to eat out. When you first step into Cafe Piccalo, you get the sense of a quaint, intimate Italian restaurant with leather bound menus and plastic candlelight. However, the longer you sit, the more you notice the mishmash of country/rock music and off-putting wall decor. Upon opening the menu I was confronted with the realization that you could not order a chicken dish for less than $30. With high price tags come high expectations. I initially ordered the Chicken Marsala, and my company ordered the Chicken Gorgonzola. What I received, however, was not chicken Marsala. It had the floured chicken and mushrooms, but the sauce was a dark red that had spice and an unwelcome peppery taste. The Chicken Gorgonzola was pungent to say the least and abrasive to the taste buds. After asking my friend what she planned to do with her leftovers, she stated she would take it home and “doctor it up” to help with the flavor. Not something you want to hear after spending $30. When the waiter came to check on us I asked to return my dish as it was not Marsala, and I was advised that this was “their marsala”. I opted, instead, for the Chicken Piccata. While the chicken was tender and juicy, the only flavor it had came from the sauce, which was largely held up by the capers they threw on top of the chicken. With hardly any (oily) sauce, pasta, and a single split chicken breast, it was not enough to fill someone up. While the waiter was kind and exchanged my food, it unfortunately wasn’t enough to justify the money spent.
When I made the reservation on Open Table I was asked if this was a special occasion. It was. When arriving we were met by a hostess who made no eye contact, didn't say "welcome" only asked if we had a reservation then walked us to our table, placed the menus on the table, and walked away saying nothing. After some time our wait person walked by and said he would be right with us. He was disheveled at best; not the look one would expect at an upscale restaurant. Of the three appetizers ordered the stuffed peppers shined with the calamari and eggplant only passable. And yes, the bread and dip as we were told were very good. We ordered a veal dish and scallop special that were both very good. The special ribeye steak for $45 was very disappointing. Thin, no char or crust, over-sauced and undercooked. When it came to dessert we informed the wait person that we had a birthday at the table. The table next to us had a birthday and had a dessert with a candle. Our limoncello cake and profiteroles were institutionally purchased and thawed out and arrived , yes, without a candle! When I asked why, he said that if I really wanted one he could go and get one. We declined. At no time did anyone from owner to management come by our table. When we left no one was at the front door to thank us for coming. For three appetizers, three entrees, two desserts, and two drinks our tab with gratuity came to $270. $90 per person for a special occasion that felt more like we were an imposition. Sorry but true. Won't be back.
Our evening at Cafe Piccolo was underwhelming, especially considering the price. We had high hopes for this birthday celebration, as we had heard great things about the restaurant, but unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to expectations. For the same price, Gio’s just down the road far surpasses this place in every way. I won’t be returning.
Atmosphere is great, but we ordered dinner after apps, kids were here we got here at 730 and it’s 9:17pm and was food the kitchen is super behind and that it was our option to wait on our food or not. So we opted out of dinner because he told us that it would be awhile and we had kids falling asleep. Expensive and didn’t even try to try it. They did not charge us for our dinners but we waited 2.5 hours to be told our dinners were not even started. Super cute place but super disappointed.
We were seated at the time of our reservation and then sat for 40 minutes without ever meeting a waitress or waiter. We asked the receptionist twice and they said they were sorry and would get us help. That simply didn't happen... The food looked good. :-)
