Prima volta al Crott del Meo. Si raggiunge da Varenna percorrendo una strada molto panoramica con vista mozzafiato sul lago (con un po' di tornanti). Il Crotto ha due piccole sale, semplici ma ben curate negli arredi. Si viene accolti in un'atmosfera che fa sentire subito a casa, grazie anche ai due fratelli, uno è il cuoco e l'altro si occupa della sala, che mettono subito a proprio agio. Il servizio è attento e professionale, Ivan - in cucina - prepara dei piatti davvero buonissimi utilizzando materie prime di qualità (tagliatelle al ragù di selvaggina spettacolari ma non da meno i pizzoccheri, tra i migliori che abbia mai mangiato). Prezzi assolutamente corretti considerando la qualità. Torneremo sicuramente magari in primavera dove il clima più favorevole potrebbe dare la possibilità di pranzare all'aperto. Stra consigliato!

Ho pranzato in questo ristorante insieme ad alcuni amici e siamo rimasti davvero molto soddisfatti. Abbiamo mangiato dei pizzoccheri buonissimi, saporiti e preparati alla perfezione, con ingredienti di qualità che si sentivano ad ogni boccone. L’ambiente è accogliente e curato, perfetto per trascorrere un pranzo in compagnia in totale relax. Il personale è stato gentile e disponibile, facendoci sentire subito a nostro agio. Un’esperienza decisamente positiva che consiglio a chi ama la buona cucina e l’atmosfera familiare.

Abbiamo avuto un'esperienza culinaria fantastica al Crotto del Meo. Il servizio è stato ottimo, veloce e cordiale, nonostante fossimo un gruppo di 15 persone. Il locale è autentico, curato nei dettagli e si sente di essere in un vero crotto. I piatti erano tutti buonissimi! pizzoccheri, chat, polenta taragna, funghi, costine...tutto squisito. E per finire, un'ottima torta di mele. Il rapporto qualità-prezzo è più che onesto. Ci siamo sentiti coccolati e trattati benissimo. Lo consigliamo vivamente!

Cucina e ambiente essenziali ma impeccabili. Io e il mio compagno abbiamo provato la degustazione con bresaola, sciatt e primi, tra cui pizzoccheri e tagliatelle con ragù di selvaggina. La qualità è altissima, e lo staff di una gentilezza e attenzioni che raramente si riscontrano. Torneremo presto anche per provare il resto del menù!

My wife and I had dinner here while staying in Perledo/Varenna. This restaurant is located way way up, but it is worth the drive! We parked and then just had a short little walk further up to the restaurant itself. The view from just outside the restaurant is incredible. Food was all home made and absolutely incredible. It is quite tiny inside (probably best to make a reservation) but this may have been one of the best meals we had throughout our stay.

Ding-dong! The church tower in Bologna chimed 7:30 PM as we followed an elderly Italian couple toward a nearby restaurant. For some unknown reason, we felt sure they were heading to the same place as us — and we were right. That was the exact moment the restaurant opened. We were warmly welcomed by a kind host. After being seated, we watched as the place quickly filled up within the next 30 minutes. The food was absolutely incredible — every dish was made from fresh, local ingredients and tasted fabulous. The service matched the quality of the food: friendly, attentive, and genuine. What stood out most was the vibe. It felt like a family gathering, with the same faces who started the evening still there at the end. A truly memorable and authentic experience.

Beautiful place in a lovely hidden location. We were there at night in early November so unfortunately we couldn’t enjoy the views but it was still a very charming place. Everything we ate was delicious (selection of cold meats, risotto and pasta) and the service couldn’t be better. People running it is very friendly and made us and our two children feel very welcome. I would definitely recommend if you are in Perledo or Varenna.

What an incredible find! Best food we had in our time in Varenna. It’s a bit of a drive up the mountain, but the food we were served was INCREDIBLE! The menu changes almost daily, and although the staff spoke limited English, we managed to get by. Google Translate will be your friend. It’s a small little restaurant, nestled up in the mountains, but well worth the visit!

A gem of a place in the mountains above Varenna. We finally found an authentic Italian restaurant instead of the usual touristy, bland pizza and pasta we encountered throughout our 20 day Italian tour. The food was excellent. Only a small menu, but the menu was varied and changed daily. Very friendly staff who made us feel very welcome. We went on our first night in Perledo and it was that good we returned 2 days later. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Absolutely superb.

One of the best meals I had in Italy... I come to Italy every 2 years, this was my first time in Perledo/Varenna and I can say with certainty that this restaurant is a diamond in the rough. It is a bit of a drive to get up there, but I can assure you it is worth it. There is no better authentic Italian experience you will get anywhere else in the tourist infested Perledo/Varenna area. Food was all homemade with the freshest ingredients. We had the tasting menu (table d'hote) which is not on paper and has to be explained by the staff. We didn't want explanations and just wanted to be surprised when the food came out. We were pleasantly surprised with various pasta, risotto, meats and cold cuts which were all to die for. Service was amazing... the 2 waitresses were very friendly and were happy to explain everything. Even gave us a coffee on the house! I don't have enough good things to say about this restaurant.

We were recommended Crott Del Meo by our Airbnb host and we were not disappointed. The girl serving us was very attentive and made the extra effort to speak in English (Our Italian is not so good) and spoke us through the menu options. We opted for the £27 set menu per person which included a bottle of wine to share between the table. Each course was as good as the last and both our server and the chef made us feel welcome. The chef also brought out his own homemade Grappa for us to taste, which was a thoughtful touch. The view was also unquestionably beautiful as the Restaurant sits atop a hill, looking over the lake. We enjoyed the meal so much that we came back a second time and once again were very happy with our meal. Can’t recommend this place enough to anyone staying in the area.

The pasta is so delicious here, especially the mushroom with truffle one pictured. Delightful lady running the restaurant. Highly recommend the walk to Bologna for the views. For us it was a set menu of antipasti, two pasta dishes, a main and dessert. (With bread and wine of course).

Posto rustico molto piacevole con servizio cordiale ed efficiente. Prezzi contenuti e buon rapporto qualità-prezzo. Abbiamo preso un antipasto misto, un piatto di bresaola, 3 primi e 1/2 litro di vino bianco della casa per circa €65 euro. L'antipasto misto é stata la cosa preferita, i tre primi buoni ma senza che nessuno mi facesse impazzire. Ho trovato le tagliatelle al mirtillo e funghi interessanti ma un po' anonime, quelle al ragù di cinghiale ben bilanciate e non pesanti ma senza un sapore particolare, i pizzoccheri buoni ma pesantucci. Nel complesso é un posto che si raccomanda facilmente per una serata tranquilla mangiando piatti tradizionali senza spendere troppo.

L’unica cosa che personalmente non ho apprezzato è il menù degustazione OBBLIGATORIO la domenica, il quale non è indicato sul menu presente sul sito web e tantomeno al telefono in fase di prenotazione del tavolo. Preferisco scegliere io quello che desidero mangiare!

Piaciuto molto! Buona la bresaola con gli sciatt (la pastella era proprio fatta bene), pizzoccheri e tagliatelle fatti molto bene e le costine al lavecc erano un burro. Per la qualità del cibo il prezzo è giusto. Bello che è venuto anche il cuoco a chiederci se andava tutto bene, e molto gentili anche la sciura e il marito in sala.

Situato sulle alture che si affacciano sul lago, il Crott del Meo possiede un ampio parcheggio senza costi nei pressi del locale stesso. Il locale in sé è anche piacevole, tuttavia la nostra cena è stata accompagnata da rumore sostenuto e continuo dovuto agli spazi risicati della sala dove abbiamo consumato. Personalmente ho ordinato solo un secondo, e, nonostante avessi specificato di avere preso unicamente quello, ho dovuto aspettare più di un'ora l'arrivo di tutti gli antipasti e primi dei miei commensali prima di poter mangiare qualcosa. La qualità del cibo è buona, le dimensioni delle portate in relazione al prezzo un po' meno.

My girlfriend and I arrived in Perledo on Saturday evening after an 8-hour drive and were craving some food. Since it was late, we didn’t want to get back in the car, so Crott del Meo was the only restaurant we could reach on foot that was still open. When we arrived, the waiter told us there were no tables left – although two tables were visibly free. I also asked if it would be possible to order something for takeaway and explained our situation, but this was refused as well. Unfortunately, the staff showed no empathy, which was very disappointing, especially as we were really hungry. Overall, we found the service to be very unfriendly and unhelpful.

Just count on the atmosphere and not the food! The cement seats could have cushions and were uncomfortable. We paid so dearly expecting an Italian-style dish, but we received a thin steak on a white plate, already cut to make it look more prominent. Then, a small plate of a kind of McDonald's french fries was brought to us. When we were ordering, the waitress explained the side dishes so extensively, but we've truly seen none of it. My friend ordered Pizzochero, which was so dry and dense that she could hardly eat 1/3 of it. We came back home hungry and unhappy.

Minus: Spoiler alert they don’t have a view from the restaurant to the lake. On sundays they do a fixed menu with limited options which was not communicated when reserving. Should help with service speed but didn’t at all. We waited a very long time after the aperitivo for the first course and then again for the second course. This is because they prepare all the tables’ pasta orders together in one pot. So you have to wait till everyone arrives and orders. They served a plate of pasta with one tbsp of ragú. Plus: pizzoccheri were good

Prenotazione fatta 15 giorni prima per un gruppo di 10 persone, non pervenuta. Arriviamo al locale e ci danno un tavolo per pietà e misericordia. Locale gelido alla corrente, il 30 novembre, in una fredda e ventosa giornata. La stufa, unica fonte di un po’ di calore, dopo pochi minuti dal nostro arrivo si spegne. Chiediamo di riaccenderla ma ci dicono che si spegne automaticamente perché ha raggiunto la temperatura di 22 gradi. Ci sentiamo presi ulteriormente in giro, dopo la prenotazione non pervenuta. Tra l’altro non avendo annotato la prenotazione non era disponibile un menu senza glutine che avevo chiesto all’atto della prenotazione. Il cibo tutto di scarsa qualità e mal cucinato. Ragù di cinghiale insipido, risotto scotto e scaldato, cervo e stracotto molto scadenti. Discreti i pizzoccheri e lo stinco. Servizio lentissimo. Davvero deludente l’esperienza, sopratutto per la scarsa attenzione al cliente, oltre che al cibo.
