This is a family style restaurant right on the main highway, frequented by the local people. The portions are more than sufficient, and the service reflects the casual, local atmosphere. I came seeking the local barbecue She ordered a loaded potato which came foil wrapped and piled hugely with about everything a potato could be filled with. I ordered the barbecue brisket plate with potato salad and beans. The potato salad was a tangy non-mustard recipe, creamy plus chunks of potato. Just like home. The pinto beans were basic western style, boiled and seasoned with meat and spices. Good, but not special. The brisket came sliced, apparently from the flat. I could have ordered chopped. The texture was fork tender, appropriate fat, but not stretchy, dry, with the right amount of moisture. A very good roast. The brisket had a narrow red ring to prove it was smoked, however, I could get that amount of smoke flavor in my electric oven at home with a few drops of Liquid Smoke. Overall this is a good family meal restaurant. Prices are average for the time of the decade. The loaded potato was $11. The brisket was $14. Checkout was $28. The food was tasty and filling. Since I was seeking the local barbecue, it must be hidden some place else.

Everything was actually really good but there was a little piece of tooth pick plastic in the salad. However, I would recommend. $12 for a very good grilled chicken salad? Hell yea! 4 stars on the atmosphere because nearly all the decor is what you’d find in a typical white suburban house. Tables are pretty cool though.

I got a burger and fries and they were excellent. I also got a side of mashed potatoes and brown gravy which was also very good. My only complaint about the burger was the paper thin slice of American cheese… you all should order bigger slices of cheese. My second complaint has to do with the family sitting in the corner with their child. Just because it’s a family restaurant, doesn’t mean that the dining room is a playground. A misbehaving child reflects poorly on a family and is beyond annoying. Leave your kids at home if they need to disrupt other people. It’s not cute.

The staff was very friendly! I was seated with drink in hand quickly. I ordered the big ribeye medium rare, expecting a thick ribeye. It was very thin and came out well done. The steak was flavorful, but not what I expected on the rare occasion I order a steak. I did not complain or send it back, and in all fairness, I didn't mention it to the staff. This would have been great in a dish with steak in it, but for God's sake, that's not how you cook a steak and charge $35! Cut a steak over 3/4 inch if you are going to serve a steak on the menu! My steak was under 1/2 inch, and that thin cooks fast, but it is extremely difficult to get right. Well-done, is pretty much your only option. The salad bar was well maintained. The staff was very friendly, although English is not their first language. That being said, the service was great, I never ran out of my beverage and was checked on as expected. I was not asked about how I liked the meal. There are a lot of other options on the menu besides steak. Based on what I saw and overheard, the food was very good. I wouldn't order steak again, but I will return to order something else. Overall, the experience was good, but please change the way you serve a steak. This is Texas, after all!

3 Chicken enchiladas with rice & beans, sweet tea and chips & salsa...plenty of food for $15. Served hot, good flavor. Enchiladas were a little spicy for my taste but not a deal breaker. Waitresses checked on me occasionally, but not excessively, well done.

Great little place to eat at. Prices were fair , people were friendly and the food was really good. I would definitely recommend and return to this place.

Service with Jacquelyn was horrible. Wanted to argue over question over food that menu specifically says comes with it.. Once food brought out never came back to table. Grill cheese was a piece of cheese with two pieces of dry toast. Kitchen help dont know how to make grill cheese. Secondary waitress was amazing trying to fix the problem. No manager on duty at 6pm on a Saturday night. Wont be back thats for sure.

The little gal that took my order didnt seem to know what she was doing. Had no idea what the Jaxton tacos were, so I order the Fajitas instead. I thought that it said that it came with Chips and Salsa, (what I remembered from the menu). When they brought my food, I didnt think about it right away that I was missing my chips and Salsa. The menu also said 3 tortillas but I realized as i was part ways through, only got 2. The waitress never came back to the table and I never could catch her eye. She never brought my ticket and so I finally went to the the counter to pay and the girl had a hars rime finding my order in the computer. I had plenty of food so I just decided not say anything and to leave it alone but for $22 before tax and tips, I did think I should get all of my food. The fajitas were outstanding!

Ordered hamburger steak, got a small McDonald's style hamburger Patti with some burnt onions thrown on it, a half hard baked potato.......zero service for getting a drink refilled, then the lazy waitress acted offended when there was zero tip

The wait staff was awesome...unfortunately the food was not. Ordered the largest steak for $35 and it was mostly fat and wife got the buffet which is a Mexican night buffet and it was horrible. No flavor...same as the steak. It tasted boiled than seared. However it was not even warm. The owner came in due to our complaints. The kitchen manager told my wife she was stubborn because we refused to pay for food that was not eaten or cooked correct/good/or with flavor. The owner came in to her establishment only to tell my wife she wasted food off of her buffet and therefore she was going to pay regardless of how bad the food was. She stated we never have complaints and you are the first...well it's because when they eat here they never come back and the locals don't have much choice. The only good thing about this restaurant was our waitress and the nice atmosphere. Other than that if you want Mexican Food go to a Mexican restaurant that can cook Mexican Food and if it's that juicy steak...pass on by this place until you get to a Texas Road House or a Saltgrass steak house.
