Had brunch with my wife. Service was great. I wished I could remember her name, but she was fantastic. Ordered the chicken and waffles and the crab benedict. Both were very good. The show stopper for me was the Cold Fashioned. It’s Buffalo Trace bourbon, cold brew coffee with bitters foam. Let me tell you it was incredible. Had to run home later to try and make one myself. Highly recommend Whiskey Cake for food and cocktails.
I had such a wonderful experience at Whiskey Cake! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, but what really made my visit special was our waitress, Erin. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect-friendly, attentive, and so genuine. You can tell she truly cares about her guests and loves what she does. The food was delicious, but Erin's kindness and amazing service made the night unforgettable. I'll definitely be coming back, and I hope I get lucky enough to sit in her section again!
Let me start by saying, God bless whoever hired and trained the waitstaff! They were extremely friendly, professional, respectful, and truly excellent at what they do. I dine out often, in different states and even at high-end restaurants, and their service was truly outstanding. The food quality, however, was just okay. The crab fritters we ordered as an appetizer were delicious, but the burger I got was burned on the outside and undercooked on the inside. Despite that, the amazing hospitality made me forget about the food quality. The whiskey cake was decent, though I wish they offered more dessert options but I understand they probably want guests to try their signature cake. Overall, the experience was okay, and the staff’s exceptional service really stood out.
Food - Started with the candied bacon ... it was amazing. Great smokey flavor, a bit of sweetness along with the BBQ aioli made this a great start to our meal. We shared the Chicken and Waffle since dessert would be filling. This chicken was flavorful, and the waffle had a wonderful vanilla flavor. Used the maple syrup and gravy as dipping options which added the right amount of extra flavor. I also asked for the hot honey BBQ which is made in house. It was so good I bought some to bring home. Lastly, dessert. It was suggested to come here not only for the wide range of whiskey, but for the dessert. Glad we shared this slice as it was massive and over the top with flavor. It came with homemade whipped cream which they made fresh right before serving to us. Service - Kayla was our server - my opinion, ask for her section if you can. She was amazing, pleasant, thoughtful, courteous, funny and great to talk with! Absolutely 5 star service. Wishing her all the best. We also had an opportunity to talk with the manager, Madison. She actually brought out the cake and fresh whipped topping. She stuck around and talked with us a bit which was great. Madison you have a great crew, from the servers to the cooks, everything was amazing! Restaurant - The interior decor is very fitting for what the restaurant offers. The floors were clean, tables were not sticky, and the restrooms were in top shape. Even with it being a weekend night, the restaurant was well maintained. Overall - Our suggestion would be to put this on your radar. Whiskey flights are an option which allowed me to try some bottles that have been on my need to try list. Save room for dessert, or better yet start with dessert, then determine how hungry you might be. We will be coming back here on our next visit to Plano, as there are quite a few options on the menu that I need to try.
My husband and I decided to celebrate our 7 wonderful years together at the same place we shared our first date, and what a perfect decision that was. The staff went above and beyond to make the evening feel truly special and the food was sublime. Thank you for the memories. We'll be back next year to celebrate our 8 year anniversary!
Not only was this brunch impeccable but the Whiskey Cake itself brought me and my best friend to actual tears it was so good. I got a spoonful and thought, there’s no way this Will smell as good as the candles at the entrance. The smell was absolutely divine. The taste? Heaven. Warm, soft, light, textured, caramelized, fluffy, sweet, and with a tinge of salt that was just the “cherry” on top. I’m an out of stater, idk if Texans are used to this kind of dessert, but this will be a staple for me every single time visit here now. No complaints from anyone at my table. We had the fried green tomatoes, Bloody Mary deviled eggs, the cheese melt, breakfast platter, bagel sandwhich, and chicken and pickle sandwhich, and the champagne tower. Excellent staff and atmosphere as well. See you next time Whiskey Cake.
Whiskey Cake in Plano continues to impress. The Prime Rib and Gouda Stack was an absolute showstopper—tender, juicy beef layered with smoky gouda in a way that hits every note of comfort and indulgence. The rotating seasonal menu keeps things exciting, and our server’s thoughtful walk-through of the new dishes made the experience even better. Of course, the meal wouldn’t be complete without their namesake Whiskey Cake—moist, decadent, and unapologetically rich. It’s the kind of dessert that makes you plan for an extra workout the next morning, and it’s always worth it. Whiskey Cake remains a must-visit for anyone who loves food crafted with creativity and care.
A great restaurant. High quality food and drinks and yes whiskey cake dessert . Atmospheric and pleasant to spend time to eat or have drinks or meetings . Has a wide selection of drinks and cocktails and American and Scottish bourbon and whiskey . We had steak Frites , burger and salad and Brussels sprouts and rye bourbon and Cocktails. Great service also .
One of my favorite places to eat, no matter what city I’m in, however, I’ve been to this location twice and I cannot recommend it enough. Friendly and accommodating staff, wonderful food and drinks and sultry atmosphere make it such a wonderful place to gather with friends or a date night. We came in pretty late this time, about 45 minutes before close. I ordered my favorite, the Winchester, and my husband ordered his favorite, the Smoked Ol Fashion which were both made perfectly. We also ordered 2 candied bacon and the goat cheese fondue and it was just what the doctor ordered. We haven’t had anything we were not impressed with but the candied bacon and goat cheese fondue are always a hit for us. Thank you guys for always providing the best customer service and yummys!!
I had an amazing dinner at Whiskey Kitchen in Plano last weekend, and I can't recommend it enough. The whole experience was top-notch, starting with the outstanding service from our server Sebastian. He was super attentive without hovering, and his knowledge of the beverages and dining menu is seriously impressive. We were a group of four, and he helped us navigate the options effortlessly, suggesting pairings that hit every mark. No generic advice here—he dove into details about the whiskeys, explaining tasting notes and how they'd complement the dishes, which made the whole meal feel customized.Their whiskey selection is expansive and exciting, easily one of the best I've seen in the area. Shelves packed with everything from Scotch to American rye, and they even have some limited editions that caught my eye. Sebastian guided us to a couple we wouldn't have picked on our own, and they were fantastic—smooth, complex, and perfect for sipping slowly. It added so much to the evening, turning a regular dinner into something special. The food was the star, though. That pork chop is incredible—huge portion, tender meat with a crispy edge, and a sauce that brings out all the savory flavors without overwhelming. It came with great sides like garlic green beans and herb potatoes that kept everything balanced and satisfying. We shared a few apps too, like the deviled eggs and brisket bites, which were solid starters to get the appetite going. For dessert, we split the whiskey cake with Honey Badger ice cream, and it was pure bliss. The cake has this rich, boozy depth that's not too sweet, and the ice cream adds a creamy, spicy honey element that ties it all together in the best way. It's indulgent but not heavy, and we polished it off in no time. Sebastian checked back once more to see if we wanted coffee or another whiskey to wind down, which was a nice touch.Whiskey Kitchen in Plano is a gem for anyone who loves great service, an unbeatable whiskey lineup, and hearty, flavorful meals. The atmosphere is welcoming, whether you're there for date night or a casual hangout. Sebastian's expertise made it memorable—definitely coming back soon to explore more of the menu and that bar.
Whiskey Cake never disappoints, but tonight’s visit was on another level. The food was absolutely outstanding — the goat cheese fondue was rich, creamy, and honestly one of the best starters I’ve ever had. The hummus was incredibly fresh with the perfect texture and flavor, served with warm, perfectly seasoned pita. Every dish had that signature Whiskey Cake quality where you can taste the care and craft behind it. But what truly made the experience unforgettable was our server, Chris. Over-the-top amazing doesn’t even begin to describe him. His attention to detail was unreal — noticing the little things before we even thought to ask, checking in at just the right times, and making sure our family felt welcomed and taken care of the entire visit. You can tell he genuinely cares about giving people a great experience. We had an incredible time, and I loved bringing my family here. Whiskey Cake has officially become one of those places we’ll come back to again and again. Highly recommend! 🍽️✨
I was in Dallas visiting friends and they took me to Whiskey Cake. Loved it! From the service to the atmosphere to the delicious food, it was such a great experience. We started with the deviled eggs and candied bacon. Both were so so good. I ordered the prime rib and gouda stack and it was amazing. Be prepared to take food home because the portions are huge. Four of us shared the whiskey cake for dessert and it definitely lived up to the hype. Do yourself a favor and buy the whiskey cake candle on the way out - you're welcome!
This place officially lives rent free in my food memory. From the first bite, it was clear this wasn’t just a good meal. It was a standout dining experience. Knowing that everything is made from scratch, down to the ketchup, makes it even more impressive. The fish and chips were perfectly crisp without being heavy, the rotisserie chicken was juicy and deeply seasoned, and the fried chicken sandwich was hands down the best I’ve ever had. The whiskey cocktail was balanced, smooth, and dangerous in the best way. Absolute perfection. And then came dessert. The whiskey cake was so good I see why they literally named the restaurant after it. It deserves that honor. What truly elevated the night was the hospitality. The chef and manager personally came out to greet us, which says everything about the pride they take in their craft. Our server, Erin, was exceptional. Warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely made the evening better. This is the kind of restaurant that reminds you why dining out can still feel special. We will go out of our way to come back whenever we are in Texas again and we will be bringing everyone with us. If you are even considering it, stop thinking and go.
We went here for a family dinner tonight, and everything we ordered was delicious. The fried green tomatoes is a pretty nice appetizer choice; the sauce is amazing. My steak frites, which I got cooked well done, was still juicy, and that steak sauce paired with the beef tallow Chimichurri sauce on the steak was delicious!! I was very pleased with how my steak turned out. My husband’s fish (the fish and chips entree) was so light, crispy and seasoned well. It was absolutely delicious; I would definitely get that next time. Lastly, our server was polite and attentive to our needs. Overall, we had a wonderful dinner experience and thoroughly enjoyed our food!
We were visiting from Canada, and Whiskey Cake came highly recommended by a friend. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent, the service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere had a lively, energetic vibe that made the experience even more enjoyable. Of course, we wanted to try their famous whiskey cake, but we were already so full from our meals. Luckily, they kindly offered to split the portion, allowing us to enjoy half at the restaurant and pack the rest to go. It was absolutely worth it. We will definitely be coming back the next time we are in Texas.
Good experience. Went with a large group of friends. Service was quick and attentive. The restaurant was a bit loud, and alot of echo. I ordered the salmon which was very delicious. The dish did not come with any sides, but was super delicious. You also have to try the actual whiskey cake. It looks like chocolate cake, but its delicious like a soft sponge cake.
We had a wonderful celebratory dinner at Whiskey Cake, and everything from start to finish was on point. We kicked off the evening with the candied bacon — absolute perfection — along with the Brussels sprouts, which were equally delicious. Someone at our table ordered the chicken and waffles and generously shared a bite, and wow — easily the best chicken and waffles I’ve ever had. Crispy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced… but the waffle was definitely the star of that show. I went with the steak frites and swapped out the potatoes. While the chimichurri wasn’t quite my thing, the house-made steak sauce more than made up for it. It’s nothing like A1 — richer, more nuanced — and paired beautifully with their steak seasoning blend. Recommendation is to order that meal cooked at medium per the chef’s recommendation. For dessert, we shared a generous slice of the whiskey cake, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The house-made whipped cream alone deserves a shoutout — honestly, I could eat a bowl of just that. And a special mention to our server, Kayla — she was fantastic. Friendly, attentive without hovering, and genuinely warm. She felt like an instant friend and made the experience even better. If you’re dining here, definitely ask for her. We’ll absolutely be back.
First time here, asked about the burger, I like a thick juicy patty, not the thin smash burger style. The nice server said its the thick style, well, it was not. The burger was still juicy and good, but not what I wanted. French fries are home made and good. The Whiskey cake is good as well. Overall good experience and good service but I’m still in search of a real burger, thick patty.

Me, My Sister, and my nieces enjoyed dinner and the atmosphere at Whiskey Cake in Plano,TX recently. We were looking forward to trying the Goat Cheese Fondue as an appetizer however, it never arrived to our table… The meals arrived, and at that point we canceled the appetizer… Unfortunately, service on that night was not the best. The highlights were the outstanding whiskey cake dessert -which was absolutely delicious -and the wonderful whiskey cake candle that we purchased and took home as a souvenir
Overall, this is not a bad spot at all to grab a bite & kickback with the fam. The rustic vibe is inviting & the service was great! Drinks were solid, with a good dose of alcohol (grabbed the American Pie). Rooster Royale was awesome, as well as the fries!! My kids had the chicken tenders & my wife had the chicken & waffles. The chicken tenders here are underrated & should probably start getting some more love from the restaurant. I couldn’t keep my hands off my kids’ and wife’s plates! Their Mac & cheese, however, was very underwhelming. Perhaps that was their biggest miss for me on this visit. My family also got their famous whiskey cake, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Personally, I found the whiskey cake dry and lacking, but I’m also not a cake guy, more of an ice cream fan. All in all, this is a spot I look forward to returning to, as I am interested in checking out the rest of the items on their menu! Go check it out!
I had brunch with a friend and we tried multiple dishes. The food was okay. I am not a fan of spicy foods and everything seemed to be spicy. I was not expecting the chicken apple sausage to be spicy, either. I got the Farmer's breakfast with scrambled eggs. The eggs were only partially cooked, too. I liked the short stacks with the strawberry whipped butter and lemon shortbread crumble, though. I had to flag down my waitress as she forgot the syrup for them.
Brunch at Whiskey Cake Kitchen & Bar was an absolute win. I went with a girlfriend for a relaxing brunch, and everything, from the food to the vibe, delivered. I ordered the steak hash, and wow. Perfectly cooked, tender steak, rich flavors, and a beautifully runny egg that tied everything together. My friend had the shrimp and grits, and it was just as impressive, creamy grits, seasoned shrimp. Cocktails and Mocktails were also good. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, ideal for lingering conversation, and catching up over great food. Service was attentive without hovering, which always feels like a small miracle during brunch hours. If you’re looking for a place that does brunch well, this is it. We’ll absolutely be back, nprobably sooner than planned.

Loved the atmosphere and staff. Dominque the bartender was friendly and nice. The food was not amazing. Steak only grilled on one side and the other side looked like boiled meat. Chimmichurri could have been chopped better. Did not enjoy the fries. Felt they needed additional crispiness. The crab fritters were underwhelming and should not have that much cheese. Nice sauce though. Parking was easy. I would return for drinks. The old fashioned was amazing.
This was my first time, and maybe my last. This is the type of place that reminds us that not everyone likes every restaurant. This place has it's pros and cons. The food, a hot honey chicken sandwich, was very good. The whiskey cake was eh... Just eh, if you like toffee you'll like the dessert, if you don't you won't. I didn't. We went Christmas Eve during happy hour and it wasnt that crowded, but the service was a bit slow. And one last thing, don't sit at the high top tables on the front side of the restaurant. There is a bench on the window side that has a metal bar for a back, and it's uncomfortable, even with pillows they provide. It's a poor design. The bar area is really cool and looks like fun. The atmosphere is fun and entertaining, the staff had on ugly Christmas sweaters for a light mood. Have fun and remember, this is just one guys opinion.

We gave Whiskey cake another try tonight, hoping to make it our regular dinner spot. I ordered a Prime Rib and Gouda stack. I took a bite. It tasted like nothing. I had a long day, and thought I was too tired, so I took it home to eat later. When I opened the sandwich at home, I realized what the problem was. It is mostly just plain bread. There is a small blob of overcooked fat in the middle. There is no Gouda at all. A “chief” who made this, and thought it was appropriate to sell to a customer for $25 - shame on you! Leaving two stars because the service was good.
