Some amazing lobster!! Staff was friendly and helpful
We had the pleasure of dining at Javi's. Javi dropped by to introduce himself. The food was wonderful. A shrimp cocktail, lobster bites, lobster tacos and grilled shrimp. The highlight of the meal was the peanut butter martini, simply divine!
This place is PERFECT!!! It starts with a smile at the door. There is live music. The singer sang a couple of Brazilian songs for me. It was special. I can not describe the drinks! I mix explosions with different tastes. They put a flower as incense and it brought a special taste to the nose. 😳😍 The food is on the same level. I think it was the best fish that I ever had. Everything amazing!
Don't miss out on Mexican Fiesta night at Javi's (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00 or 8:00)- such a fun experience with excellent food and drinks! Reservations are required and limited, so you must plan ahead. We attended as a couple our last night on the island, but it's perfect for families, as well. The staff is kind, knowledgeable, and accommodating.
You have to come here, one of the best places. Dinner was great. We had the chili shrimp and the lobster and it was to die for. The vibe here is amazing. We met the owner and the owner son and as well father who was playing, very kind people. The music was live and wow, they pleased us with every song. Funny story we are from Chicago and so is the son of the owner. Great place overall. You will not be disappointed 100/10. We beyond recommend this place.
DO NOT miss this restaurant. With the most humble, friendly and hospitable owner, you will be welcomed in like family. We met Javi in the grocery store over conversation about southerners and their love for black tea! He quickly informed us we wouldn’t find it on the island, and went out of his way to drive to his house and bring us a box!!! That began our love for all things Javi! That evening we dined at the most quaint restaurant, with personal entertainment. The Lobster bites, salsa, fried jalapeños and shrimp Ceviche started off one of the best meals we have ever had on Isla. We continued our meal with fabulous black grouper, chicken and the most tender Arrachera we have ever experienced. You the food is good when the sides are also stars of the show! The cocktails were absolutely delicious! Don’t miss the grilled pineapple margarita and the Paloma Negro! You will not be disappointed, but fall in love with Javi and his staff. Who, by the way, are fantastic! GO TO JAVI’s!!!!!
This place is delicious!!!!!! Definitely recommended! Vibe is romantic, cool and just lovely. Inside seats, but make sure you get a seat outside in the lovely courtyard with the live band. Tuna carpaccio - Wow!!! The tuna is fresh and the flavours are amazing and has pickled veges on top. Grilled fish (ask what they have on the night, because I had 3 options to choose from) - the waiter recommended Black grouper. It was delish. Chicken kabob (grilled) - super juicy and tasty (comes with rice, veges as well as a vege kabob). Even when the chicken went cold it was still juicy and superb!! SEAFOOD IS SUPER FRESH IN THIS JOINT!! Highly recommended!!! 😊
Javi’s, by far, is my favourite restaurant on Isla. You can’t go wrong with a candlelit dinner, live music, and a beautifully intimate setting. The food is 10/10, and the service was beyond amazing. I recommend the Tuna carpaccio or stuffed mushrooms as starters. The seafood platter as a main is good for 2-3 people. It comes with shrimp, fish, octopus, lobster, and goes well with a side of rice and mixed veggies. The grilled octopus was outstanding. Also, they have a great cocktail menu. Overall I was very pleased with my experience finding this hidden gem, and I cannot wait to return.
Wonderful cantina! Excellent food and was totally walkable from our hotel, Playa Arena. The fried jalapenos were a fairly large portion and could easily be shared. The Cantina Wedge salad was also a generous serving and soooo tasty! I had expected much smaller sizes so was almost too full when the filet mignon arrived. I ordered with the garlic mashed potatoes...and again they were an excellwnt choice. There is a courtyard in the back that allows for larger groups and service was super efficient. Cost was very reasonable for a margarita, the appetizer, the salad and filet...$810 pesos with tip...roughly $48 US dollars. I would highly recommend this place.
Wonderful food, fantastic service. They made a special octopus appetizer, which was very flavorful and seasoned perfectly. The parmesan crusted fish was excellent! Live entertainment started at 7pm.

Went to Javis with a group of 9 and the service, food and music was amazing. One of the best meals we had in Isla. The Parmesan Crusted fish and/or chicken was the highlight. The grilled fish was also good. The grilled pineapple margaritas also paired well with everything.

Javi's Cantina is an oasis of quality hand crafted cocktails and food. The owner, Javi, makes it his business that you are happy by checking in and visiting with you. We sat at the bar because the dining room was full and the bartender was great. We even stayed there after a table was available. Apparently the cocktails were REALLY good because I have no pictures of the food! They do accept reservations and have live music on some nights.

Very elegant and nice place. The food is very fresh with some dishes that changes daily in base of the fresh sea catch. There is a wide variety of choices, with meat dishes too. And also the cocktails are excellent. The personnel is very sweet and nice to have a chat with.
What more can be said about the excellent food at Javi’s that hasn’t already been said? I had the cilantro lime chili shrimp and hubby had the Parmesan crusted fish. All amazing. Live music as well. Lovely.
We absolutely LOVE Javi’s!! We visit the restaurant every time we are on the island. This time we caught fish while deep sea fishing off the coast and brought to to Javi’s to cook special for us. It was absolutely amazing!!! Best fish we have ever ate. I highly recommend Javi’s, his menu is wonderful, quality & quantity are always perfect! Javi & his wife Marla are very special people that truly care about their employees & the community.
We were very impressed with the food and service at Javis! The courtyard was full, so we had to eat inside. However, the live music made the inside atmosphere very enjoyable as well! We got the seafood platter with octopus, grouper, lobster, and shrimp. Everything was amazing! The drinks were good and the servers were friendly and helpful!
Javi’s Cantina is hands-down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Isla Mujeres. The food was incredible. We ordered the lobster bites, pescado al mole verde, and Milo’s fish, and all of them were excellent. What really sets this place apart, though, is the live music performed by the owner. It wasn’t just background music creating such a special vibe. If you’re looking for a place that offers not just great food but a truly unforgettable atmosphere, Javi’s Cantina is it. Highly recommend.
We had a great evening at Javi’s. It was recommended by our golf cart tour guide, Aza. I rarely order flavored margaritas because they are too sweet, but the grilled pineapple margarita was so good. I had the parmasean crusted filet and my husband had the grilled filet. Both were amazing and the vegetables were out of this world tasty. The dancing was beautiful! Highly recommend this for anyone visiting the island.
Amazing service, catered to every need, ceviche was incredible. Would recommend the bacon marmalade grouper and ask for the Parmesan crusted fish as well. Fresh caught fares and incredible hospitality

Twice I’ve dined at Javi’s and twice it’s been my favorite meal of the trip. The courtyard is so charming. I’d been for Mexican Fiesta night a couple years ago but this time I went on a regular night. Javi stopped by our table to introduce himself and helped us to decide which dishes to order. He said “anything tastes better with bacon” and suggested the wahoo with bacon marmalade. We ordered that with mashed potatoes and also the lobster bites, Hawaiian tuna, and grouper…everything was perfection but the wahoo with the bacon marmalade was the showstopper. Javi also played guitar and sang and he is just a really talented guy all around plus super hospitable. He offers private chef services (Dinnertainment) and I’ll have to hire him for that next time. It was my friend’s birthday and Javi had her come up on stage and they sang Tennessee Whisky together. Then, his staff brought out a dessert to her and sang happy birthday. We had such an amazing dining experience! Thanks for the fabulous meal and memorable evening!
We had dinner and an authentic Mexican dance show with live music last night. The service and recipes were superb! The courtyard dining was all kinds of charming, and the prices were entirely reasonable. Best spot on the island for a slightly upscale but relaxing evening on the island that we've found so far. Javi has something truly special going on here. Reservations online are highly recommended.
Javi’s is consistently great food, drinks and atmosphere! Last night was exceptionally special as not only did we enjoy a fantastic filet mignon meal paired with sensational grilled pineapple margaritas, entertainment was provided by a traditional Mexican dance group. The senorita’s dresses were beautiful. The performance was a surprise to us and made for a fantastic dinner experience.
What looked like a hole in the wall when we pulled up surprised us with a super cute courtyard and excellent Mexican food with live music! The lobster bites were to die for. There were 7 of us and everyone loved their meal. For a true Mexican experience I highly recommend this place.

Tenia altas expectativas del lugar. Ya que varias paginas de viajes lo recomendaban con puntuaciones muy altas. El lugar estaba solo a pesar de ser viernes en la noche. Los meseros son extremandamente amables a tal grado que llegan a abrumar. De entrada un carpaccio de atun que estaba bueno. Plato fuerte pedi un atun hawaiano, estaba muy malo. Tenia una costra de pimienta demaciado gruesa que eliminaba al atun y hasta lo ponia muy picante y fuerte. Hasta este punto serian 2 estrellas. Pero el pulpo a las brasas que pidio mi esposa era otra cosa. Un plato espectacular que podria estar en cualquier restaurante de alta cocina del mundo.

We didn't eat at the restaurant. We had Javi's Dinnertainment. He comes to your home and prepares a luxurious meal with appetizers, main course, and dessert. You can choose from many options what you want him to prepare. He also provides entertainment with his guitar. This was so much fun, and wonderful to have after a day in the sun. We will definitely do this again!
Absolutely delicious! Some of the best grilled chicken I’ve ever had. And the lobster tacos were fantastic as well. Full of flavor and well priced for the portions we received. It was our third time having Javi’s but our first time in his restaurant, and it definitely won’t be our last! The live music and dancing just added to the whole experience!
Javis never disappoints, We have had the pleasure of eating here for a few years and it is always good. We almost always get the lobster and the blue cheese salad is great too. Javi is always such a pleasure and watching his dad play music is super special! You enter at the street level but then are taken back to an open air courtyard.

Overall, I was extremely impressed with the efforts to help me set this up and organize everything with such ease from so far away. Everything I asked to be set up was. My wedding planner also helped to drop things off after the wedding. Javi himself and his son played complimentary music for over an hour it was so nice and unexpected. They made a menu for me, customized with our names. The service was great the food was great as well. The only disappointment I had was not being able to use the rooftop as planned. It wasn't raining. And I guess they didn't even clean it so I cud take pics. It was my only complaint. Overall the people are so nice, the food is great, even not being on the roof it was a good set up for 10 people. I definitely recommend using Javis for you event on the island as they are very accommodating and at a very very reasonable price. Thanks for everything#
Party of 12 with no reservations...they brought us to a private room and gave us the best service. 2 waiters and a helper, amazing service, outstanding food and wonderful atmosphere. I ordered apps for the table, lobster bites, fried asparagus and tuna tar tar. All were fantastic. My entrée was the parmesan chicken, it was fantastic, my only complaint is the entrée was listed with veggies and potato wedges and I was served french fries. All in all, a WONDERFUL experience.
We dined in for Javi’s chef’s table experience and it was phenomenal! The dishes were absolutely amazing. There was not a thing I did not find to be delectable! Javi not only explained his dishes he also shared stories and songs with us, along with his dad. Once again we had a memorable experience dining at Javi’s Cantina and Restaurant.
The Dinnertainment experience with Javi and his kids was awesome! They came to our vacation rental (Casa Bella Noche ❤️) and prepared a gourmet meal for us, then entertained us with stories and singing. It was sooo much fun. This will be a regular part of our future trips, for sure!
From David the greeter to our most outstanding and sweet waitress Monica, this was a pleasant and romantic dinner setting. We enjoyed the lobster bites and then for dinner he had the seared tuna and I had the pecan crusted fish. Everything in our opinion was perfect. He was absolutely delighted with is tuna. We bot highly recommend Javi's for an evening dinner to dress up a bit and even enjoy a little Bohemian music while dining. Make reservations ahead of time. We will be back!
We ate at Javi's for our anniversary. The charred pineapple margarita was very good. We each had a wedge salad, and the bleu cheese dressing was homemade and delicious. I had the parmesan crusted grouper, which was ok but a bit dry. My husband had shrimp, which was really good. We sat in the courtyard, which was hot, despite fans being on, so if you're sensitive to the heat, the inside is air conditioned. The fun part was the amazing entertainment for Mexican Fiesta night.
One of the BEST sit-down meals you’ll have on the island. Ridiculously fresh seafood, very kind and attentive service and the kitchen bangs out food with lightning speed. Highly recommend the fresh fish of the day, the shrimp ceviche, lobster tacos or the grilled lobster tail. If you’re feeling spicy, the fried jalapeño strips with dipping sauce are a fun appetizer. Bonus: they have LIVE MUSIC every night. 9 out of 10 doctors say relaxing acoustic music reduces your caloric intake by half :)
Despite staying at an all inclusive we came here multiple nights and this restaurant does not disappoint. First of all, everyone is incredibly friendly (Aza, at the front and our server, Jesus, deserve shout outs). You really feel welcome here. The drinks are unique and taste great. And the food is absolutely delicious. Amazing combination of ingredients that taste like modern takes on traditional dishes (do yourself a favor and get the guacamole). Everything tastes very very fresh. Great entertainment in the back of the restaurant as well. I cant recommend this place enough, with its great food and friendly staff. Keep up the great work.
Very nice place and friendly staff. The food was really good: the tortillas were slightly fried and the shrimps and vegetable very well seasoned. There were also two musicians, which could sing and play guitar very nicely
It’s not an exaggeration to say this is one of the best restaurant experiences of my life. The food was beyond delicious - I had a daily special, fresh shrimp with a habanero cream sauce. The drinks were amazing. I had the best mango habanero margarita the bartender personally described and recommended. There was live music (every night from 7-9!) that provided a special island ambience. On top of all that, the highlight was the service. The server, waitstaff, manager, and every single staff member was incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive. I highly recommend eating here at least once, if not more!!

The appetizers (guacamole and wedge salad with bacon) were very tasty; the mains (fish tacos and Hawaiian tuna missed some love in it. The service and the restaurant are very nice and cozy. Oh and the peanut butter martini was amazing! Worth to try!
I was recommended Javi's by another guest while visiting Isla Mujeres. The restaurant is along a narrow side street with limited parking. When we entered the restaurant we were asked about a reservation, which we did not have. The restaurant was split into 3 areas: 1) a dining area in the front that had a bigger table 2) an open courtyard with small tables 3) a roof top area. We had a menu in English. We started with an order of guacamole. It cane with salsa and chips. The salsa tasted OK. It wasn't spicy, but was served warm. The guacamole was really creamy. Mixing the salsa with the guacamole made a tasty combination. The fried fish was recommended. My wife had that with mashed potatoes, vegetables, and a pineapple margarita. The dish was served with cold hoison like sauce that would have been better served in a small side dish so the diner could make the choice to use it. She didn't recall seeing it in the description. The same sauce was also on her potatoes. I had the garlic shrimp with vegetables and a Coke. The shrimp were seasoned perfectly and tasted amazing. The vegetables included cooked carrots, zucchini, and broccoli. Service wasn't too fast, but the server was also engaged with another small table a large party. It took a while to get our check after dinner.

I wanted to like Javi's as the owner, Javi, is the band/ guitar player and singer and he has incredible voice. The food was so so. The serving size was too small for the price. 340 pesos for small tacos with fish, lobster tacos were supposed to be non breaded but the chef breaded it and I had asked and requested no batter or breading for the lobster tacos. I didn't return it to the kitchen but I felt that the restaurant is a small boutique restaurant so the waitress should know how each dish will come out. Price was 500 pesos for that; definitely not what I expected for sizing and battered lobster. Seltzers came in small bottles instead of usual topo chico sized bottles. The local food carts are more worth it. Their pricing and serving size is better.
Our server seemed occupied with other tables, we were told we got a free glass of wine for Valentine's Day but got charged for them. So we had to get those taken off. Our dirty martinis were sweet so they had to remake those and unfortunately the food was just ok. We've had way better food and service in years past.

Quizá elegimos mal, no probamos los mariscos allí, pero los hamburgers sliders estaban salados, los nachos de arrachera estaban ricos.
Elegimos ir a este sitio por las buenas recomendaciones que tenía en varias webs pero ha sido decepcionante y caro. De hecho no había nadie dentro, cosa que nos sorprendió. Pedimos pulpo, pequeño y difícil de masticar, tacos de pescado que sabían a pescado de río y guacamole que tenía poco sabor.
