Not a place you would want to dine-in but the drive through is great! Great prices friendly employees and I love the fish and fried shrimp!!

Stopped in this morning 10/16/22 around 10:45 am which is the time the sign say's they opened. Was greeted at the door by a young man telling us that they did not open till 11:00 but that we could have a seat and wait. After sitting there a couple of minutes, I could not get over the very bad smell of their restaurant. They need to mop their floors with pine o pine or something. They need to clean that place up. We had to leave as the smell was just so bad I lost my appetite.

The two fish and six shrimp are delicious!!! The portions are huge enough that I was able to have a nice midnight snack... It takes a while to get your order through the drive-thru, but it is well worth the wait because the food is served fresh and hot!!! Customer service is excellent!!!

We stopped ordering fast food during COVID-19, but Captain D's is one of only two fast food restaurants we still visit. Great service and plenty of food at a good price. Keep up the good work!!!

I have driven by this place a 100+ times and it never occurred to me to stop, but for some reason today I decided to use their drive-through and I am glad I did. The food was reasonably priced, hot, tasted good, not a long wait in the drive-through and staff was very polite and friendly. I will agree with another reviewer the building is very drab looking and it definitely needs to be brightened up.

A 5-star fast food joint? Yes! We have eaten here for years now. It had some issues many years ago but it has bounces back in a big way. We can eat seafood lunch/dinner for under $25. Food is cooked to order and comes out hot and fresh. If you're looking for fine dining, drive on down the road but if you're looking for a delicious quick seafood meal without breaking the bank, stop here. Staff is super nice too.

This place is a real gem! Not only is it incredibly affordable with fantastic deals for both takeout and dine-in, but the customer service is also top-notch – genuinely kind and attentive. Plus, the restaurant is spotless, and the food always comes out promptly. Honestly, they set the standard for how a restaurant should operate.

This place doesn't look like much but the customer service at the counter was awesome. I was helped by 2 employees that were very patient with me while I looked at the menu and made a decision. The food was brought out in a reasonable time frame and the quality was not what I was expecting. The fish was fresh and it had crispy batter. My okra was pleasantly crunchy and piping hot. The shrimp on my platter was great and well as the chicken tender. I was expecting subpar quality but they went above and beyond! Now that I know where they are located, I'll be making frequent trips for my cravings. I would recommend this eatery to EVERYONE.

I have tried a few of their other dinners but my wife's and my favorite..is the fish plate Sooo good..and the hush puppies yes..I'm getting hungry just thinking about it..I wish they had a location in Conroe oh well y'all should give them a try...and make your tummy happy.

the young woman that greets me everytime I go inside is always friendly and works diligently to get your food in an efficient and timely manner. food is always fresh and hot whether i dine in or order to go. good sized portions. i always get the 4 piece batter dipped fish combo. sweet tea is good too. I'm definitely a repeat customer.

I went in after work and chose to go in than deal with the traffic. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed. They checked on me throughout the whole time I was there. The food was cooked right. I got fried fish and shrimp and was tasty and not greasy. Definitely, will be back soon.

The food is pretty good but what you may not know is they have the best cheese sticks and jalapeño poppers in Texas! Its no lie. I dare you to try them and tell me you don't love them! We have been getting them for years.

Captain Ds used to be the ppace for my family to go all of the time nut sicke they began closing locations it has just been really hard to find i only worked in the area for a few days but i came to eat lunch here everyday because it is that good. I showed up not knowing what to expect and left with a smile on my face and confirmed happy memories! The team at this location is on point! And very friendly, definitely a family friendly atmosphere and ill return anytime i can! 🧡

So I'd completely forgotten about Captain D's until recently. I remember the meals being only OK for quite a while. This time, the food was great and service was great. I ordered grilled garlic butter, white fish meal. The fish was excellent. Perfect fried okra! The breadstick was tasty, and I believe they must be deep fried...! I'll make another trip soon just for the breadsticks alone.

Had to stop here. I miss Captain D’s. I can find them in Louisiana but not as many in Texas. It sits right off the Porter exit on 59 n. We went thru drive thru decided to park and eat. Oh how I miss this good food. Everything was hot and fresh and crunchy and crispy. Everything was fresh and delicious. I remember this -33 years ago-in Louisiana my sister and I would take our kids here on Wednesday evenings for the kids eat free deal. Brought back such heart warming memories and the food is still awesome eating. Try them out. Todays meal gets a 10 🌟 from me.

My name is brittany b. Iv been working at captain D for a about 6 weeks. I have not had any problems. I make sure my dinning hall and every where else is clean. I walk around to make sure your drinks and food is good. If there is any problem please let me know. If you want good service best times to come are Mondays and Wednesday nights for all you can eat and on the weekends at night I promise you will leave happy or happy with your service. Great fish and fries! Chicken strips were a little disappointing but overall good food and nice portions for the money! If you like seafood I'd stop here before long John silver's....just saying.

We bought the family seafood feast, blacken tilapia fish, and some chicken tenders. It has been awhile since we have eaten here, so we wanted to sample some of the food. Everything was delicious. The reason I didn’t give 5 stars was the tilapia wasn’t blacken, but still tasted great.

My last review of Capt D’s was a bad one. However, the bi-racial woman that so many of these bad reviews were about has been fired so we went back. The food is as delicious as always! I missed this food. Also, the dining area has been repainted, looks cleaner. I liked the employee that took our order (told my husband, “you LIKE that sauce? Your taste buds are expired!”- never heard such a clever way of calling him old! 😂), the assistant manager is really good (Rhonda). It’s really good to have a pleasant dining experience there again!

I will say, I used to eat at Captain D's all the time as a kid till they seemed to disappear. I found this one recently and as soon as they were open for dining in, I headed that way. I dove half an hour and go early had low expectations as time can mislead the memories. That said, the food was good, better than expected. The prices were okay too. So much better than LJS. On the down side, this restaurant looked like it has had no maintenance done since the 70's. Stained ceiling tiles warn down paint and all the white trim was stained with year's of abuse. If I were rating based of the appearance of the store it would be a 2 but the food was good and that has marit. A update would make a world of difference.

It's been many and I mean many years since we've been to a Captain D's. We drove 40 miles round trip and was worth every mile. See yall again.

We've been coming to this Captain D's since we were kids. The food is almost always done up right and delicious. We love the jalapeno poppers and giant fish sandwiches. It's usually best to get the food to go from here; the friendliness of the staff is hit and miss, the customer base it draws in is scary at times, and the building overall needs a lot of TLC and fresh paint inside and out. Those hangups aren't enough to keep us from enjoying the food here.

This is a fast food place, so.... but it was sparkling clean when I was there. Nobody inside the place but a steady line cars in the drive thru. I had some seafood sampler thing and really enjoyed it. For $15 I don't think they could have put more shrimp and fish on my plate. It was good, kinda what you'd expect at place like this.

The fish did not taste good. It was not hot. And it seemed like they breaded the fish too much. And it just didn't have a nice fried fish taste. I won't go back. There's other better options for the money

Good food. Service not so good. The young girl that took orders was like she didn't want to be there. She slumped against wall as she took orders. The couple ahead of me said she didn't seem like she wanted to be there. She said she was tired. Not good customer service.

Food qas good but the oil was not hot enough which made the fish a bit soggy. Place needs a remodel from bathroom to the entrance. The southern style fish was good.

Captain D's survived at least here in Porter. I use the drive through 95% of the time. It's slow but the fish is always hot. My biggest complaint is the pricing has gone up and the fish portions have gotten thinner. Pretty soon they may be just better described as fish sticks.

I hadn’t tried Captain D’s since I was a little girl and the fried fish was just like I remember it. The rest of the food is okay but the fried fish and the fries are what makes keep coming back. The lighter batter is so crunchy and airy. The fries are crispy and thick. I always add lemon and tartar sauce but I recommend adding lemon to the fries too. So yummy!

It was surprisingly clean as I have stayed away from this place because of my preconceptions of how clean it was. The prices are high for the amount of food but the food was pretty good. The drinks are insanely overpriced. I also felt the staff was less then eager to serve and speaking Spanish amongst each other was very rude. For what ever reason they should stick to speaking English which I heard them all speak at least once so I know they all can speak English. they have family specials that a pretty good deal. I once got a family special through the drive thru some months back and I remember it being a pretty good deal. The okra was amazing and the Mac and cheese was hot as hell but good. I guess I would recommend this place if you where thinking of going to Long John silvers. Because it's definitely better then that place.

Went inside to order and eat. The counter person seemed impatient while taking our order. While waiting for our food, 10 to 12 cars came through the drive thru. The interior is dated, there was a small puddle on the floor and several pictures removed from the walls? taking up one of the booths. The restroom was dirty, both the toilet and sink could use a good scrubbing. The food was ok, not good, not bad, and the counter girl seemed in better spirits that we were leaving

This restaurant has really gone to pot.used to be local favorite. Hot food is regularly cold. Cold coleslaw is questionable temperature. Very disappointed. Probably done going . Please change direction management this restaurant was a local institution years ago,please bring it back

First time ever trying this place. Looked good like Long John Silvers only better. It's was about the same only with slightly friendlier service.

This place is as dull as the faded street signs on the outside of the building. Not a place I would recommend to friends. (It may just be a bad Capt.D’s location) I must admit that the 2 person staff was very nice and professional. My first ever visit to Captain D’s and my experience is that this place is very slow. I’m surprised that they have a drive-through. It’s more at the pace of a sit down restaurant. I like that they have green vegetables and not all fried sides. The food menu that claimed to be Cajun or Southern was very bland for that style, but not bad food. The drinks are priced a dollar too high for a drink to enjoy with a meal. The other prices are equivalent to the competition for the current market. However, it is way too high for the provided dining environment. The entire place has a very dull and run-down atmosphere. Even the kitchen looks dark with dirty walls, from what I can see through the small window to the back. The dining room definitely needs music pumped into it and has zero decoration other than the lights left from the previous occupants and stack of furniture in the back corner. This place lacks the spirit of a seafood restaurant.

We went to eat lunch at Captain D’s on Friday afternoon, we came home & both my husband and I became very sick with vomiting & diarrhea with severe stomach cramps, after that episode I called up to store to speak with manager I was told that he hadn’t came in yet. I called back today after getting no answer on phone from previous evening. I talked to manager whom was VERY RUDE AND REFUSED TO GIVE ME HER NAME. I ask if the health department had been there recently and very rudely she said yes and hung up on me. I called back to get her name and to speak to owner she hung up on me again. NOT MANAGER MATERIAL. I was treated very disrespectfully and would love to hear from someone higher up than her.

This location just can't get right. They seem to have problems getting orders correct. I had an issue, a lady at the drive thru while I was waiting and the lady behind me. Just can't get right. Food was good, the ladies there are nice and friendly but this isn't the second time my order wasn't right. This time I learned to check before walking out.

We had been wanting Captain D's for sometime and decided to drive about 45 minutes to get to this location. Now we had never been to this location and there is only 2 in the area with this one being closest. I knew the area but i honestly expected better. To start this place needs a renovation something serious it is way over due. The outside looks terrible and when we went inside it was just as bad while it did look like it was fairly clean everything just had that out dated dingy look not like any of the Captain D's we have been to in the past. The fish tank in the front was broken as well which if its broke get rid of it not put a sign on it. Service from the staff was friendly and surprisingly the food was decent although not as good as other locations we have been to in the past. Also didn't not care for the blue tooth radio that was playing what ever the staff wanted to play just extremely ran down the owner should be ashamed of their self and honestly I'm surprised franchised or not that corporate hasn't stepped in on this location to get it turned around.

I have been coming to this eatery since I was a child (30+) years...with that said, NOTHING has changed and in this case that may not be a good thing. The food is bland and completely lack luster. The dining room has an odor that I think began 30+ years ago and the bathrooms need serious updating. I do believe this last visit will indeed be the LAST visit.

I enjoy the food except the green beans. I used to work for Caption Ds, I opened the Porter store back in the late 80s. When we made green beans it looked like the picture. They had bacon,onions,and seasoning. They were good. And now you just open a can and there it is. What happened? If they're going to be like that change the picture. Very misleading. If I wanted plain unseasoned green beans I would open a can and eat it. I want the beans that are in the picture. Please change it back.

I've always enjoyed Captain D's catfish, but not this time. Went to the one in Porter. I don't know what kind of fish I got but it wasn't the catfish that I asked for. The taste was completely different. And the hush puppies we're gummy inside.

Food is good but the lady in the drive thru made it clear that she didn't want to be there and us ordering food was a huge inconvenience for her. It's hard to go back to a place that seems like they don't want your business.

Still no sauce, but new paint... After my husband went and asked very nicely 3-4 times for cocktail and tarter sauce... None in the bag .. I can't blame my husband I was on the phone. When he ordered and drive thru for pick up. I don't have these condiments at home. They were paid for, and well we didn't 4 the check the bag. How many is we have your order, ok? How many is it's in the bag is ok? Not here... Capt D sauce tastes different than store bought. And now my husband is driving after getting the food to go get sauce we paid for that wasn't in the bag after 3 x confirmation. 2x at drive thru once at pick up. Hence dont check the bag... So to anyone else Check the bag... A fresh coat a paint isn't gonna change a few sauces which are necessary to have a full experience. Not what I remembered from 5 years ago. Food is bad and prices too high. Do not recommend this place at all. Used to be one of my favorite fast food places but no more. Food tasted like it was fried in old oil. Terrible. I had to just throw ot away because i was late for an appointment. Will never go back.

So just a few a questions...who is the GM at the Porter location and the shift leader? So I am a disable customer who was having lunch with my mother at her treat I ordered a 3 piece fish so I said catfish not knowing there were different kinds as the “shift leader” did not explain herself to ask me what kind battered or the other kind when all I know of one kind the cracklings kind. Well she brought the food to our table I asked what was this well she simply embarrassed me in front of customers and raised her voice at me that is not how you treat your customers. There is a whole lot more to this so if you can give me names as I would like to report this to corporate.

For some reason the fish was greasy and never was before. Maybe a new cook. They were friendly and helpful, but was very dissapoined in the fish. I will go back again, might have been a fluke in not getting it out of grease fast enough. Ive eaten there for 10 years and yhis the first time. Im up for a second chance tho

Good afternoon Management, I drove from Spring / woodlands and visited the location on 23811 Porter for my first time to feed a needing family of 4 that lives nearby. As I drove up to the drive thru speaker I kindly asked the employee questions on a special that I saw from a distance on the side window and she said with an attitude if you look to the upper right hand corner you will see the prices of the family menu. I was asked the sidings that i wanted so i replied and she said is that all again with an attitude. Not knowing that the sides were a much higher price she told me a different price from what was on the menu. i pulled up to the window and i asked her, why was the price higher than what was displayed just wanted to know, she immediately looked at me with an angry face and garbed an inside display of all the sides. she said well if you can't read or see here you go, I asked her not to be rude a i had never ordered here before, she said will you be needing all the condiments in a sarcastic way i said yes please. so i waited 6 to 7 minutes luckily there was no one behind me, as she handed the bags she was very inappropriate with her loud tone. i asked her " you wouldn't happen to be the Manager by any chance" she said yes that would be me, so I asked her kindly can i get utensils with my order please, she said WELL for how many are you needing ??? i said 4 please and so i just held my head up high and bit my lip as i didn't want to argue with a disrespectful employee, i think she needs additional training as a Manager she says she is. my order # is 0062 name on ticket is Diana I'm sure she was the manager. I hope you can resolve any issues she may have had and hope she was not doing this out of a racial profile.

Ordered the blackened tilapia and it arrived to the table it was boiled tilapia with seasoning on top. No wonder why this places are disappearing because they don’t serve what they advertise. Also ordered a side of breaded fried okra and it tasted like it was fried over old oil. Don’t recommend this this menu. I’ve had their fried food before and it was not too bad. Sad! Sad! Sad!!

Absolutely horrified. There was a roach in my food. This place is not sanitary. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. Plus the meals are pricey. Please check your food before consuming. They are no longer trusted. My last time going there.

Ordered 2 fish sandwich combos waited 20 minutes in drive through. There was one car in front of us and it was still there when we drove off with out are food. We went to harts chicken next door it took about 10min with a car in front of us. When we pulled out that same car was waiting for there order in drive through at captain Ds. That just ridiculous.

Ordered grilled fish and fries fish. Somehow, they were both rotten and undercooked at the same time. The cooking oil was definitely rancid because everything fried had an awful aftertaste. The coleslaw was sour as well. There's a good reason this place was absolutely empty on a Saturday night. Stay away.

This has got be the filthiest place I ever ate. If the stars went to -10, I would click it. After getting our food, the flies were everywhere. They landed on my child's face, they landed inside my tea cup, on my fish, on my rice, on the walls. The only place they did not land on was each other. This place needs to be closed. You can smell the penetrating mold, old odor everywhere. It is disgusting. I had to argue for my money back. Looks like some foreigners bought it utilizing our government tax dollar and brought their filth from what ever country they are from. Stay alive, do not eat there.

Walked in and the first thing I noticed was one of the employees was not wearing anything to keep his hair in place and was constantly scratching his head. Then, the front desk lady was making some tea but didn't clean the pitcher, which still has reminants from the old tea, and filled almost a third of it with sugar. So not only was it nasty but sickening sweet. The tables still had food on them as well as the chairs, and the bathroom was horrific.

I'm done spending money at this place. I used to come here once week. Fish was good and there was a ayce fish on Thursdays. Since covid, no acye and fish is not like it was dine in or drive thru. Today, I got the 4 piece batter an 12 fried shrimp. Fish is so over cooked it is dry and the consistency of the chicken. Long John silver is a better value. Now I guess they have the better fish also.

Stay clear of this place very disgusting and very unprofessional. They forgot to give me all of my food I called with minutes to ask for a refund since I couldn't go back through I am a truck driver. They denied it and after going back and forth she hung up on me. Her name is Diana or Diane very very unprofessional they failed to do their part not once not twice but 3 times, but couldn't do anything to correct the problem. I should have known to walk out as soon as I walked in an employee was coughing in her hand and didn't even wash her hands.

Used to love this place, until last Saturday when I went to purchase food, not only did I had to wait a long time to get my order taken but once I did and i paid for my food upon checking it i realized that they hadn't added my chicken. So I went back and told them that they had forgotten to add the chicken tenders. The lady was understanding and got my food but the old man and the young guy who creat the food were basically saying that they did added the chicken.. like why would I lie about this and y'all not doing their job right. So disappointing I'm never going back again because of this.

Stopped by and took 1/2 hour to get the food. The counter help and the cook were exchanging comments about one of the drive through customers. In her words, "He is m...f...ing good looking. I'm straight up serious, He is M...F....ing good looking. " The whole dining room could here them very well cause they were hollering. I went to the counter and asked them to chill with the language as we had two small children with us. And they were out of rice. LOL.

I've came and eat there a few times but this will be the last time I come here. The reason why I won't be coming back is because the ladies room looks like it hasn't been clean in a while the ladies in the front are never where there supposed to be. The napkin holder are never filled. Just the place in general looks bad.!! Will not come again.!! Foods great don't get me wrong just the place needs a little upgrade and the staff need to do there job.!

The very heavy set manager can't put her phone down for two minutes and makes you wait and wait while she vapes and plays on social media. The final straw was when she leaned over to talk to someone cooking the food while blowing her vape smoke back there. It's been a few months, and I will never go back after that. I wonder what the health department would think of that???

Just left here. My food was delivered to another table. They put their hands in it then say this isn't ours. The girl brings it to us. I say I'm not eating that after their hands were in it. I walk up to the counter as they have it setting in window and then want to hand same plate back to me. I said no i want a refund I'm not eating that food other people had their hands on. Refused to give me a refund.. $23 for nothing... Asked to see manager girl goes in back and comes back to tell me there's no manager there.

Literally, this evening I found out that there was a Captain D’s in Porter, Texas. Since I’m pescatarian and my fast food options are limited, I decided to drive 40 minutes to this location to get some good fish. I literally pulled up to the drive thru speaker at 8:38pm but since there was no response at the speaker, I drove to the drive up window. I was then greeted by a female associate that told me that the restaurant had already closed. I said “Really? It says here online that you close at 9pm.”. The girl at the window responded “Yeah, we’re closing early, one of the cooks already left.”. I didn’t make a fuss or get upset, I just drove off. Very poor customer service on her end. There needs to be consistent restaurant hours and better customer service… this will definitely prevent someone else from wasting their time and gas.

I asked for two piece fish and fries The fries were cold the fish wasn't fish it was chicken and I hate chicken so my dinner was ruined And before I forget the shrimp were horrible too

The young lady who took my order was good. Very respectful. The fish was burnet to a crisp. I don’t understand how that even happens. Since no one was even in the restaurant eating or ordering any food. I give 2 thumbs down on the food. I couldn’t even eat my meal. Fire the cook. I been coming here for years.. i have always had great service and food. I guess alway a first time.

I went here for the first time and my fries old but 4 hushpupies fresh and two where old. My fish was fresh and they charge 25 cent for the nasty water. I was not please at all. I can see why they had not one customer. Never visiting again. I.why not give all fresh food. I waited patiently on fresh fish but old frie??? Im lost.

Went through the drive thru, had to go back in and ask for a different piece of fish in my meal bc the one they gave me was so comically small, lady with henna all over her hands was super rude & gave me another piece that was literally smaller, and then all that just to find roach legs under everything 😭 serves me right for eating Captain D's I guess lmao

I will never stop at this location again! Highly disappointed! Paid close to $20 for practically nothing! Fish was small, cole slaw was old, and the hush puppies were cold! The only good and fresh items were the small butterfly shrimp I ordered on the side. I should have drove off when the drive thru lady didn't know the difference between battered and breaded fish!
