Would definitely eat here again! Worth the wait-I recommend making reservations. Our server, Kristin, was awesome and gave us great recommendations. Don’t miss the Brussel Sprouts-some of the best we have tasted!

The food was amazing. I sat at the bar and had a great experience. Steven was really great. While he was multitasking he asked how my food was. I really appreciate the two bite check in; This made me feel so cared for. The other bartender also made me fresh coffee to go with my desert. Overall great food and great service.

The Brussels sprouts were absolutely fabulous—perfectly cooked with just the right amount of flavor. The chicken enchilada was superb, bursting with taste and cooked to perfection. I paired my meal with a backyard grilling beverage, which rounded out the experience beautifully. Everything was fresh, delicious, and left me wanting to come back for more. Highly recommend!

Delicious food!! Great environment. Bar tenders & servers were kind, friendly & knowledgeable and seemed to really care & like their jobs. Decor is warm, new, modern, and it was clean. The food was really good & although I only had a glass of wine, I saw a lot of tasty & beautiful cocktails going out. I had the Brussel sprouts & crab cakes, my friend had a steak salad.

We sat outside, it was a beautiful environment to be in. The food was amazing. So so so good. The ravioli was awesome. The steak bites were extremely tasty. The ribeye was juicy. We loved it. AND the peach cobbler our server Ana (hope I spelled it right!) recommended to us. They were amazing as well. They checked in on us just the right amount, making sure we were well taken care of but being sure to let us enjoy our meal. They were extremely kind and fun to chat with after our meal. Making us feel special even though they were clearly swamped. If they weren’t grabbing food or taking dishes from a table they were checking in with a table. They killed it. Thank you so much for being so welcoming Ana! You tied the whole experience up. This is now our favorite restaurant we’ve been to in Portland. We’ll definitely be back next time we visit.

We had the best time celebrating my daughter's birthday. The staff was excellent! Thank you!

Fireside is an absolute gem, exuding warmth and romance in every corner. From the moment you step inside, the stunning decor transports you into a rich tapestry of Portland’s history. The giant fireplace is the heart of the space, casting a cozy glow that makes for the perfect intimate dining experience. Every detail, from the elegant light fixtures to the inviting nooks, adds to the ambiance, making it an ideal spot for a romantic evening. The bartenders are nothing short of spectacular, skillfully crafting any drink you can dream up with precision and charm. As for the food, it’s simply outstanding. Each dish arrives piping hot, bursting with flavor, and leaving a lasting impression. What makes Fireside even more special for us is that it was the setting of our very first date night. Since then, we’ve returned at least four times, and our romance is still very new and full of excitement. Every visit feels like coming home, warm, familiar, and incredibly special. Fireside isn’t just a restaurant for us; it’s part of our love story. We’ll definitely be back again and again!

All staff were so friendly and loved the vibe of the place. I for and outdoor seating available. Loved how the windows opened entirely to have a feel of sitting outside without actually sitting outside. Reservation made online, was super easy and made the wait even shorter to get a table once we got there. My lettuce wrapped burger was AMAZING and the fries were perfectly salty and crispy.

Tasty Caesar salad, yummy Brussel sprouts and hearty Mac & cheese. Loved the ginger lavender soda too.

If you’re wandering the wild, misty streets of Portland and thinking, “I could really go for a burger that makes me weep with joy and crab cakes that make me question my life choices (in a good way),” then Fireside is your new spirit animal. We sat at the bar—because we’re fancy like that—and were immediately treated like royalty who’d traded their crowns for cold craft beer and impeccable service. My smash burger came out so perfectly crisped and juicy that I briefly blacked out and saw my childhood flash before my eyes. She got the crab cakes, which were so fresh I’m pretty sure a crab just clocked out in the back and high-fived the chef. The beer? Cold enough to give a snowman frostbite and good enough to make you forget all the IPAs you pretended to like in the past. 10/10 would recommend. Come for the food, stay for the vibe, and maybe leave with a new tattoo and a flannel shirt you didn’t know you needed.

We were looking for a nice spot to have a drink after walking around in the heat, this was a very cool bar to hang out at. We sat right at the bar, and had some very tasty drinks.

A cozy and trendy place to get food! The mulled cider is to die for! Restaurant is located on a street full of shops which is convenient for a weekend or night out. Food is delicious. They also have a great cocktail menu that includes mocktails.

I really should leave 2 reviews because we went twice and both experiences were excellent. Highly recommend the Happy Trails drinks but all cocktails were tasty. Brussell sprouts were awesome and so were the desserts. Would highly recommend!

Perfect Portland Sunday! I've enjoyed the food a few times. Recommended Fireside many times! We received absolutely amazing food. Great beverages, warm friendly service. What a gem on Northwest 23rd!

I have walked by Fireside many times and yet for some reason never went in. After seeing them on an Eater PDX article for Cozy Restaurants I decided to finally go in - it definitely lived up to the description. Everything here was incredible - the cocktails were so delicious and the food was full of flavor. The French dip wasn't our favorite but that's because we overlooked that the aoli had horseradish. I will definitely be returning.

The ambiance and decor is everything and the food is absolutely delicious! The butternut squash risotto and sweet chilly brussel sprouts are out of this world sooo good! The mashed potatoes are really good as well. They made a super bomb cranberry fizz mocktail. Amazing vibe and customer service. Excited to go back again soon.

It’s been a while since I had been to Fireside. This time we sat on the patio. I have a dog. It was warm enough and the sun was shining. The covered heated area is a good addition and hope they keep it. The food was delicious. We ordered starters and even took some home. The drinks were nice and my mom had the mule and really enjoyed it. The staff was super nice, helpful, got my dog a bowl of water without asking and that’s how you know you’re at the right spot. Can’t wait to return.

We discovered Fireside while walking along NW 23rd. There seemed to The atmosphere is amazing. Busy @4:30pm, and it looks like they take reservations. We had a table by the fire, perfect for me since I'm always cold. Mia was our server and amazing. Excellent recommendations since this was our first time. We started in Happy Hour. Got a Fireside Spanish G&T, which was amazing. Shared the Charcuterie board (dinner size) and the Butternut Squash Risotto. And the grilled olives. We will go back. There are some other dishes we want to try.

I had a great experience. The chicken pot pie was very good and exactly what I wanted. My friend got the chicken enchiladas which she really enjoyed. I kind of wish I did that, but I still really enjoyed the pot pie. We were from out of town, so parking was difficult. There was a bit of a wait on Thursday afternoon, so we sat at the bar. Overall a really nice time.

Second time coming here and I think the food has really improved. We got the charcuterie, the half chicken, and the fish. We also tried a side of fries. Beware if you come in at 4pm for an early dinner you’ll have to wait an hour for the real food menu. But! The happy hour will keep you going until then.

So good!! Each had a salad: Bay shrimp cob & Caesar salad with the anchovies added. Amazing!! Wonderful server. Highly recommend. Will be back.

They accidentally dropped a kabob. They gave us a new one and didn’t charge us for the old one or the new one. The quality is good for everything and they’re nice. They are nice to our dogs. Win all around.

I met up with friends at this cozy spot on a chilly damp day. The ambience is warm and the staff is very friendly and professional. The French dip sandwich was delicious.

My wife and I stopped in for a quick bite and a drink while doing some shopping on NW 23rd, and enjoyed the experience from start to finish. Impeccable (if slightly snobbish) service, a bombastic Bloody Mary with all the trimmings, a potent yet pleasurable Spicy Lemon Ginger Turmeric Toddy (wonderfully soothing for anyone suffering from a cold!), and a side of tick cut bacon and Zenner's sausage (unbeatable!): we call that "living the high life", folks!

Lovely early dinner at Fireside! We sat on their covered patio next to the fire heaters. The cocktails were delicious! I had the Shrimp Louis with BBQ shrimp and green goddess, fun twist on the classic. Service was friendly and prompt. We had a pup and a baby and felt welcomed. Beautiful interior!

Love this place. They had a wonderful menu with tasty choices, however; the best part was when they brought the dogs menu. My dogs are small and they had the chicken. They both enjoyed it. This is the cutest thing someone has done for us in a restaurant, having the opportunity to have lunch with my two dogs was the best meal ever. Thank you Fireside for including my family!

We had a reservation for two and were seated promptly. The menu is short and sweet. We tried the mulled cider which was good. The appetizer of bread and olive butter was good. The star of the night was definitely the braised short ribs. We also tried the fireside burger and the chocolate creme de pot which were good. The staff was very friendly and accommodating when we asked to be reseated next to a specific fireplace. The ambience is warm and welcoming. The music was a bit loud at times but didn't bother us. Would recommend.

Louisa and Monica took such good care of us. They were attentive, clean, efficient and so kind to our table. In my opinion, the host and the service staff control the pace and mood of the restaurant. These ladies were on it! To the kitchen staff, the manager thank you thank you thank you for a lovely evening

First of all, the restaurant itself is seriously cozy. Heck, even the exterior seating is cozy. Kudos on the coziness alone. Moving on, the food was great. I ordered the lemon chicken, and it's a solid dish that was cooked perfectly. The staff were all very pleasant, professional, and accomodating. I anticipate visiting again, and soon. Honestly, today's visit made my day.

The food is so amazing that it’s obvious that the chef loves what he does! The mac and cheese, chili, ravioli, and chocolate brownie ice cream dessert were just fab! 10/10 on all of it.

I came here on behalf of KATU News, (little birdy told me this place was above and beyond!) Glad I came in. Right away I was greeted and seated promptly. I asked for the Wagyu 👀 Excellent! Simple Mac and Cheese was next, Exceptional! Must have! Also was blessed with their cobbler and ice cream!! 👀 Hour later I’m still rubbing my belly! 🤣 Over all 10/10.🙏 Wendy, thank you for keeping the place filled with employees who are very dedicated to service with a smile and a cook that needs to come home with me. Thanks again. I hope to see a cooking special sometime! People need to know you are here!!!!! Because I didn’t! Justin

We had a private event at Fireside this fall, however this review is long overdue as we have been coming to this sweet spot for almost a decade. The food is fantastic. The cocktails are beautiful and artistic with a menu that’s changing and evolving with the seasons. Everything about this place is exactly the warm blanket you need for any season of the PNW. The ambiance, the service, the general experience is excellent. For our private event the service and food was phenomenal. Mia, the event coordinator, added special touches for our evening that I didn’t even consider. If you’re looking for an event space where you have very little to worry about (only fun decisions to make) this is your spot. Thank you to everyone at Fireside and hoping for many good years to come!

This was our first time at Fireside. Great variety on the menu, and each dish was excellent. Venue was quiet, though busy. Good choice for lunch meeting.

This is one of the best restaurants we've eaten at in Portland. Consistently amazing food, prepared well with beautiful plating. Their brussels sprouts are the best we've had in town. Compliments to the chef on the recently added stroganoff too. Vibe is relaxing and cozy, and the service is phenomenal. Louisa has been our server twice and she is so down to earth and sweet. This will always be a go-to spot for us for special occasions and we will continue to recommend this restaurant to friends and family visiting us.

We had a group of ten people for a company dinner at Fireside last night. We enjoyed our time immensely. The ambiance was warm and cozy. Patrick, our server, was fun and very knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered a smattering of appetizers, entrees, and non alcoholic drinks. Everything was delicious. I especially enjoyed the lemon dill drink; it was a unique and refreshing palate cleanser! I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning!

A nice place to go for a quick happy hour and chill. We ordered a few things to share and had a couple of drinks as well. Their sliders and fries were a must order. The Brussel sprouts portion was generous. I did enjoy their whiskey sour and expresso martini.

Beautiful restaurant with delicious food! Everything we ate was amazing. Just prepare that it’s a busy restaurant on the smaller side, so service may be slow.

Stopped in for a simple snack and enjoyed it. The bar area was large and the sitting was comfortable. The Cinnamon Bun was delicious and even had a little crunch and to wash it down the espresso martini was perfect🍸

Kid's grilled cheese, kid's cheese burger and a French dip for the adult. French dip was good. The fries were good. Kids were happy with their meals. The hot chocolate was very good. My toddler loved the big marshmallow floating in her cup. This is a cozy place, but I don't think I want to bring my kids again. It'd be perfect for an adult outing though.

We were quickly greeted and seated indoors, which started things off well. Unfortunately, the experience declined from there. Our drink order took over 15 minutes to arrive. We ordered a small bite and a Caesar salad, both of which were letdowns. The waiter told us the small bite was essentially an entrée. It was not. The Caesar salad did not resemble any Caesar we had ever had, and not in a creative or good way. It was simply bad. Service was consistently slow, both from our waiter and from the bar. This was our last visit. We will be moving down the street next time.

Times up! That was the theme of our visit. My wife and I and another couple (four total) made reservations to celebrate the birthday of both women (yep, same birthday, same year). From the moment we arrived and checked in for our reservation we were immediately met with time constraints: "You'll need to be out in one hour and 30 minutes." Ummm...okay. The hostess seemed like maybe she was having a bad day. The waitress was kind and helpful. The atmosphere was lovely. The food, fine--if not a little overvalued. The mixed messages about whether our attendance was appreciated? Weird. At one point, I put my jacket on and prepared to leave because I felt like we were being watched by staff. If we had ordered the second drink or dessert our waitress had offered, would we have had to scarf it down to leave on time? It was just all so weird. A woman--manager, maybe?--came over at about the hour and 15 time limit to remind us that we needed to leave, mere minutes after we had been offered additional drinks and dessert. And it's not like the place was packed. Busy, yes, but there was no visible waiting. It was a Sunday night after all. AlI in all, the experience was mostly spoiled by the messaging. We left talking not about the food or atmosphere but about the weirdness of it all. Why would we ever return when we didn't feel welcomed in the first place? What an odd business model. EDIT: I edited my review to fix a spelling error and it looks like doing so erased an appropriate response from management. I appreciate the follow up from them.

Went here for Valentine’s Day at 3:45 pm we were seated and waited for our server to come to get our drink orders. It took 20 min to just get our drinks. Once the waitress came back we thankfully ordered our appetizers and entrees the same time because it took 40 min to get our appetizers and then another 20 min for our entrees. Our waitress was not checking in on us and it was impossible to get anyone’s attention. I understand Valentine’s Day is a busy day however there wasn’t any acknowledgement or apology for the wait. We didn’t even wanna get dessert because we didn’t want to wait another 20 min. In total we were at the restaurant for an hour 1/2 for how much we spent and the wait time we will not be returning.

I have been a returning customer of Fireside for many years and always bring out-of-towners for the service, food, and atmosphere. Unfortunately, we had such a disappointing experience recently purely based on the service. It took us about 15 minutes to be greeted by our server and by the time she arrived we all were ready to order drinks and food. She asked if we wanted to order food as well after taking our drinks, but then walked away when we said yes. Once she came back a handful of minutes later, in the middle of ordering our food, she walked away a second time to assist a nearby table that wanted her attention. It was odd. We told her we were sharing a salad for the table but had a dairy and blue cheese specific allergy and requested a different dressing. Unfortunately we were given both dressings and had no idea it has blue cheese since it was green and didn't realize until we were eating it. I often order the French dip without cheese and have never been told the aioli had milk in it, but this server ensured me it did but didn't request another spread or meal that was more accommodating. One of my guests didn't like the drink (which happens!), but we weren't asked how it was when it sat there untouched. She checked in on us once and said, "are you just waiting for food?". It was such an odd experience that I felt it's necessary for the establishment to be aware that the service has taken a downward turn. This server did not seem like she was in training - she seemed confident in the service which is ultimately what rubbed us the wrong way.

I was thoroughly unimpressed. The $22 crab cakes were as a thin as a quarter and the stroganoff had 2 pieces of meat in it. It’s really over priced, I don’t suggest coming here if you’re actually looking to be satiated. Our meal took about 2 hours, maybe they were understaffed, but I’m not likely to be back as even the minuscule portions of proteins lacked good flavor or anything to write home about. Really too bad I wanted to like this place but there are just way too many better options in Portland.

My partner and I stopped in for cocktails on Christmas Eve. The hostess sat us at the bar, which is where we wanted to sit. She waved us over to two open seats, but as we were taking off our coats and settling into our seats, a man at the bar told us he was saving the seats for his friend. I told him that we were just sat there by the hostess, so these are our seats. He started getting frustrated and told us again he’s saving them for his friend. At this point I wave over the bartender and ask if we can sit in the seats the hostess told us to. He said “she probably didn’t know he was saving seats” as if that is my problem or gives me any information on how to solve the issue. The bartender then tells us “the bar is first come first serve” and this is when I get very sad. What do you mean it’s first come first serve, but this guy gets to hold seats for people who haven’t arrived, and we now get pushed into a window seat that’s honestly not even a real seat or table. If we’d originally been sat there, we would’ve politely declined and went elsewhere for drinks. Instead it was borderline humiliating for me and my partner. We were not treated with the same respect and dignity as other guests at fireside, and while I hope there was no biases in play, if the rule truly is “first come first serve” there is no reason this man dressed in business attire’s friends who lack punctuality had priority over a lesbian couple trying to have a nice Christmas Eve. Unfortunately even in Portland we experience a lot of weird stuff like this, it ended with me feeling really othered, and ultimately we decided to get up and leave because we did not feel welcomed in this establishment. It’s especially disheartening as the chef of a nearby establishment- I know how chaotic holidays can be with seating and communication with the hostess. But this shouldn’t have happened. We will not be back and I’ll be warning my friends
