Big location that fit our reservation party of 14. For my section of the table, we had Ja Jang Myun (Large), Tang Soo yuk-Beef, half and half of the Seafood Jjam Pong & Ja Jang Myun. It was all delicious, especially fulfilling our Ja Jang Myun cravings. Plus the staff was super friendly & patient with us all.
This Korean restaurant truly exceeded my expectations! The food is incredibly fresh and authentic, with every dish full of rich flavors. The BBQ was absolutely amazing – the meat was tender, juicy, and perfectly grilled, while the variety of side dishes was generous and delicious. The bibimbap was colorful and flavorful, with the sauce balanced just right. The kimchi stew was comforting, tangy, and full of depth, making it the perfect dish to warm the soul. The atmosphere is just as impressive as the food. The restaurant is clean, beautifully decorated with a touch of Korean style, and the seating is very comfortable. The lighting creates a cozy and welcoming vibe, making it a wonderful place to enjoy a meal with family or friends. The service was outstanding as well – the staff were friendly, attentive, and always smiling. They explained the menu with patience and made the dining experience feel truly enjoyable. Overall, I had an excellent experience here. This is definitely a spot I’ll return to again and again. Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic Korean cuisine!
Having passed this little gem many times while on romantic journeys into Flushing , I finally checked it out last evening ( 8/8/25) after dropping my lady off at home ....... and was I ever in for a pleasant surprise ! ........ I was absolutely charmed by the three little ladies who served me in this most gentle , accommodating and genuinely " East Asian " venue of the innumerable choices one has on Northern Boulevard ; in my many restaurant reviews, this the first time I've led off with such a remark . Ordering Japchae ( sweet potato noodles with shredded beef and vegetables ) so as to have something authentically Korean, the size of the entree was really eye opening , with the large serving plate heaped with far too much for one sitting...... and was it ever delicious ! Requests for one item or another were courteously and immediately met : how nice it was to have Jasmine tea with a meal ! ...... Seating was very comfortable, tables were well spaced, lighting perfect for reading, the music soft, the lavatory immaculate . One must use street parking, but Japchae fronts on a clean , safe little Asian neighborhood, so this should not be a concern ........ Does this place have some rough edges ? Yes , several : faucets need fixing and some chairs could use reupholstering , but at least everything is clean ! ...... Service ( my first consideration) , food quality, comfort and value matching or exceeding some much fancier establishments, a 5 star rating is no exaggeration . Driving home, I thought that if Charles Dickens or Mark Twain were to create a homey little East Asian place out of time, it might well resemble the Joong Koog-Jip experienced last evening ...... Looking forward to my next visit !
Dark, gooey, mysterious, and a little intimidating… jjajangmyeon! It’s subtly sweet, savory, umami, springy noodles covered in black bean sauce for only $10. This is one of my favorite comfort foods. You can also order the dynamic trio here at Joong Koog Jip - jjajangmyeon, tangsuyuk, and jjamppong, all in one dish. You know after a meal like this, you're gonna be full. Generous portions and very comforting meal. Specializing in Korean Chinese food, Joong Koog Jip is a comforting and solid spot to order your favorite Korean-Chinese dishes. It actually translates to Chinese House in Korean! - Jjajangmyeon - noodles in black bean sauce. Filled with onions, zucchini, potatoes, and a whole lot of noodles - Tangsuyuk - sweet, sour, and crispy pork. The dish also comes with broccoli, pineapple, and onions. The pork is crunchy, crispy, and covered in a jellylike sweet and sour dipping sauce - Jjamppong - spicy seafood noodle soup. Same noodles as the jjajangmyeon, except in a red, hot, savory, spicy broth. Inside, there’s shrimp, onions, squid, and mussels. It’s rich, hearty, savory, spicy, and really slurpable. Another highlight of this meal is the post-meal dessert. You get balls of crispy candied fried dough, glazed in honey. It's sweet and crunchy, chewy and airy inside.
I found this place just recently after craving some jjajjangmyun and I'm glad I found it. For dine-in, the service was great and quick, but there was also not much people when we came in. The server we had was nice. The place is clean and spacious, and gets a lot of sun during the day. The food here is great. I first had takeout and they're so good, they give a lot for a good price. I had their jjajjangmyun and their beef lo mein for takeout and they're 😙🤌🫴. We also ate in and ordered the lunch special sweet and sour chicken with fried rice, beef with broccoli meat plate, and more beef lo mein, and they were all so good 🤤✨️. With everything said, this place is also close to home, so we'll definitely be ordering/eating in here again.
Came here during a family get together and was treated to quite a feast. Since we dined banquet style wasn't sure of the names of the dishes but they were great. The service was very prompt and accommodating and when all was said and done I was too full to order of the normal items on the menu. My wife was smart and did save space and I got a pick of the Jajangmyeon that was delicious. Have to come back and try the spicy seafood option. Highly recommended.
I was craving Jjajangmyeon for dinner and decided to try Joong Koog Jip since I’ve never been here before. While the service was great I found the food to be mediocre. We ordered: Omelette Fried Rice Jjangmyeon Tang Soo Yuk Everything we ordered was shareable as the portions were huge! They also gave a small dessert at the end of the meal.
Pretty interesting. Korean style Chinese foods. Not authentic Chinese food, but quite authentic if you go to S. Korea. The mandu (pot stickers) are good. And the jiang men noodles are great. The seafood stew was much better than expected. Great ocean flavor without smelling fishy or being overcooked.
Ordered two Jjajangmyeon and a seafood noodle. The food tasted good and the portions were generous even the small size had plenty of noodles for just $10, and the seafood portion was quite big. Service was decent, though nothing exceptional. The atmosphere felt a bit dated, and unfortunately, many other dishes weren’t available when we visited.
This was a really spacious place to get Korean Chinese food in the Bayside area. The prices were also pretty competitive in terms of the amount food that you get and the price that you pay. I visited with my family and between the three of us, we shared two dishes off of their main menu instead of ordering from the lunch menu. We got the signature jajangmyun and tang soo chicken (instead of the default pork, honestly didn't even know this was an option!). It's a nice alternative for those who can't or don't want to eat red meat. Kimchi and yellow radish (which my family said tasted a bit salty) were the side dishes that were served. Since it was cold outside, hot barley tea was served after we had placed our order. We didn't have to wait too long for the food to come out. The jajangmyun came out first and there was a decent amount of seafood in it (clams, squid, shrimp). This also came with two bowls of kimchi soup. The tang soo chicken was the table favorite as it was very crispy but not oily tasting at all so we basically cleared the whole dish without feeling too full. It also came with a huge bowl of the sweet and sour dipping sauce on the side. I really liked and was surprised by the complimentary mini puffs coated in hardened sugar. It was like tanghulu but a pastry puff version. If this was a menu item, I'd definitely order it. The staff were very attentive and I never had to wait long to order or flag down the server for the check. We arrived just before their lunch hour rush so it went from just us being in the restaurant to the whole place becoming half full. The bathroom area felt quite aged and could use a deep clean is all I can say.
- Food Upon my family's visit here, we ordered Kanpung shrimp, omurice, and a large order of their signature jajang myun. The shrimp came with a sweet and spicy sauce similar to that you get with tang su yuk (in which I also reccomend as I tried that in another visit here). Can't go wrong with the jahang myun as this dish is their specialty. In the sauce were baby shrimp, oyster, potato, and onion. I would reccomend sharing this with others as the portion is huge. Lastly, the omurice. We packed this dish togo as we could not finish the things we ordered. Later on when I tried it, it was pretty good. Mild flavor, great for those who don't want anything too strong. - Service Good service, was checked up on a few times by the gentleman who filled our ice waters. - Ambiance Big windows in the facility, good to let sunlight in. There is a big flatscreen TV playing the olympics!
I went to a Chinese restaurant in Bayside for lunch on Sunday and ordered oyster jjamppong, but the oysters had a bitter taste — and they were tiny. It turned out they were old frozen oysters, which made them taste bitter and smell bad. I was shocked by how terrible the food was. It cost $18, but serving such poor-quality food to customers is really shameless. On top of that, the waitress spilled soup on me, and whenever I asked for something, I had to wait a long time. I’ve decided not to go to that Chinese restaurant in Bayside again.
Very bad customer service along with some xenophobia, our server did not greet us and looked annoyed that we were even there. I decided to leave because ive been to plenty of korean restaurants in the area and have never been treated coldly for being american. I also noticed they were grabbing soup spoons very close to the bottom.
All of the sauces have a very strong, unpleasant old smell. I ordered the Kanpoonggi, but I don’t understand why it was prepared like Tangsuyuk instead. If you’re looking for authentic Kanpoonggi, do not order it here. Both the Kanpoonggi sauce and the Jajang sauce have a seriously musty, off-putting odor.
