This place has amazing food and is close to Home cooking as you can. Our waitress Veronica was very professional , courteous, and our drinks were never empty 😀. Only reason for 2 stars is very dark inside and my poor eyesight.
Just had a phenomenal lunch of pork schnitzel with gravy, over fries, with fried egg on top. The best meal I’ve had in a long time. I recommended the meal is on the menu full time and that they start making Poutine with the fabulous gravy.
What a great restaurant. The service was excellent. I had the Ahi tuna wrap with salad. The waitress recommended the raspberry dressing. So delicious. My lovely wife ordered the hamburger sliders with salad. Great experience. We will definitely add this place to are most likely places when passing through.
(Did not get too). Visiting family and stumbled across this place. Old Fashions were great! The server (Jamie) was super sweet and approachable and also gave me a tour of the place including the (at the time) closed whiskey bar. This is the type of place and hospitality that every town should have.
Was recommended to go here by a client of ours. It was such an excellent experience. Amazing atmosphere and the food was absolutely delicious. 10/10 highly recommend. I enjoyed watching the owner go from table to table and talk like he knew each and every person in the place
Welcoming and casual steakhouse and whiskey-specialty bar, in a convenient spot downtown. I didn't have a reservation and got one of the few seats at the bar at 6pm on a Saturday. They weren't serving the full cocktail menu I saw online, but the drinks I got were fine. The bartenders were friendly. I ordered an 8oz sirloin and mashed potatoes. Both were delicious, and really satisfying. The entree was supposed to come with a salad, but it didn't come out before or with the rest of my food, seems it was forgotten. Not perfect, but I had a positive experience and would go back.
Good smells hit my nose the moment I walked into the building, which made my stomach excited for what was to come! We chose this place based on the menu, specifically the French onion soup, which was as delicious as it looks in the picture someone uploaded! I generally prefer more well-lit areas when eating but our server, Jake, really brightens up the place with his energy and fun personality. I appreciate his sense of humor and his knowledgeability regarding the menu and our options. We will definitely eat here again, next time we're in the area.
Best steak house in Redding hands down. WOW I was so impressed by the steak, the shrimp, the lobster, the fettuccine Alfredo everything. Not going to lie I was scared to eat here or anywhere for that matter. It was worth every single penny. Thank you had the best birthday dinner with hubby .
Hands down the best spot in Redding. It's so hard to find good food in this area but this place was so amazing and the service was excellent. The onion soup, chilli con carne soup, shrimp tacos and the wagyu slides were so delicious. It was quality a must try and our new favorite spot.
The food here is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! If you're not sure where to go, I highly recommend giving this place a try. Their BBQ Tuna is to die for, their shrimp tacos are the some of the best we've ever had. They cooked everything just right and added a unique twist that melts in your mouth. Our servicer had a great personality as well. All around the dining experience was A++. It's a little expensive but worth every penny! I will definitely be coming back here
We were there for happy hour. The happy hour menu had a nice choice of food options. Our server Christian was great and very friendly. The food from the happy hour was very good and reasonable priced. We will be back for sure.
The house chardonnay was ice cold and delicious. Ambiance was great with soft lighting & bluesey music. You don't feel rushed. Very relaxing lunch. Mushroom Appetizer - Excellent! Entrees were generous and very tasty.
Servers are friendly but below average for attentiveness. Anticipate being checked up on right around when you start feeling forgotten. The steaks are high end expensive but so delicious. An 8 oz sirloin is $49.
Love this place and I hope it stays around. Great food and atmosphere.
Won a gift card off Q97. Got it for takeout. Had to wait a while but they were busy on a Friday but they checked in on me and made me feel better about standing there. I had the chicken parm & my husband had the your way Alfredo with beef tips. The chicken parm was very good, however that Alfredo was amazing! Those beef tips were the most tender piece of meat I've had in a good while! I definitely would go back to eat that again!
The food is fantastic, the price for the quality is there for sure. The drinks are just as good as the food. The steak was cooked perfectly, melted in the mouth. I also tried the oyster shooter appetizer, it could have used a smokey flavor mixed in besides the Sriracha in my opinion, but it wasn't bad. Great flavor options here and I will come back to try more in the future.
Pleasantly Surprised 😮 Double 👌 WOW. We were greeted by two smiling faces to show us to our table. Then the most amazing, friendly, knowledgeable waiter walked us through the incredible menus and ASSURED US that we would hands down be eating the most delicious food in Redding. He was right! We were given all the menus which included cocktails 🍸, beer, seasonal menus alongside the daily offering menu. There is no way anyone can come in, and not find a dish they love. From Duck, Steak, Seafood, Poultry right down to specialty soups and salads. My meal consisted of the chicken artichoke and Brie crostini as my appetizer along with a smoked apple butter old fashioned (Yummy) . It was Amazing. Then I had a beautiful salad which I might say they have multiple dressings which I appreciate. I had a lemon vinaigrette and poppy seed with blue cheese crumbles over my salad. I had ordered the pork chop which was served with caramelized onions and seared with apple butter on the top of the pork chop. Under was a plentiful potato cake and let me tell you.......... it was absolutely delicious melt in my mouth Sensational. The chef did an amazing job. We finished off our meal with a New York cheesecake made in house with a raspberry puree that was also made in house. Let me tell you "it was so delicious I'm still thinking about the meal today". Another thing I appreciated is the restaurant was well staffed. They were A WELL OILED MACHINE that worked perfectly in Sync. The owner was gracious, friendly and checking on his customers and showed deep appreciation for his staff. So important these days to work with an interested and present owner. I was close to the kitchen and "The Chef was precise and efficient with his time". He did not allow his creations to sit idle in waiting. I loved my experience and this restaurant FAR SURPASSED MY EXPECTATIONS. 😃 For the record, I do not know anyone from this establishment. I however am a hardworking individual who is tired of paying good money for mediocre food and I finally found a gem !
This is a great place for business lunches, special dinners & drinks with friends. The staff is amazing & if you want the best appetizer ever, just order the "Chicken Artichoke & Brie Crostinis". Amazing food, service & atmosphere. Love supporting this locally owned restaurant.
Absolutely amazing. It's not as expensive as I thought it was going to be. Our server, Taylor, was absolutely perfect. She checked on us enough to let us know she cares, but not so much as to be annoying. She's the best. My wife got the Wagyu Burger, with tomato basil soup, absolutely amazing. I got an 8oz Top Sirloin with fettuccine Alfredo and salad. So good. I've never put horseradish on steak before, Taylor opened my eyes to this. If you want to take a special someone to a romantic restaurant in Redding without breaking the bank, I recommend Market St Blade and Barrel.

The food is delectable, the service is top notch! I love this establishment. The owner bot only made us feel welcome but he is an amazingly knowledgeable host! Please try them out! Couldn't have had a more amazing dinner!!!!
Excellent service. Great food. Expensive but well worth it. Quiet and calm atmosphere. Didn't feel rushed and really enjoyed our dinner. I had the 8 oz filet topped with mushrooms for $42....it was cooked perfectly.
The Movie club meets there once a month to discuss 3 movies a month. The happy hour menu is awesome! So is the server!
Great food aged ribeye steak was fire and we didn't have to wait to be seated. Great atmosphere will be back
Amazing service great employees, and I just love the atmosphere. Had myself a sake oyster shot on my 21st birthday, and boy am I glad that I got to spend my time at The Blade and Barrel
We went with friends for a little celebration for happy hour this weekend, and had a great experience! It felt like discovering a hidden gem! The server was personable and on top of things, but not at all bothersome. Food was great. Atmosphere in there was AMAZING. Looked perfect for a romantic date night! Didn't know Redding had a place like that, and loved it. Taking off a star on food because: 1. I did hope to get a condiment for my fries and he didn't come back in time for it. I've had the best experience when serves bringing out fries/meals ask if we want a condiment other than ketchup, and even going the extra mile and offering 3-4 possible options & would recommend this approach. 2. The cheese on their cheeseburger tasted like the absolute cheapest brand of fake cheese slices. The rest of the burger was amazing, but the fake cheese taste really threw me off, especially in the bites with more of it. From what I know, you can't request changes on happy hour items- would highly recommend using real cheese to begin with.
The food here is some of the best I have ever had, and that is saying something. It is one of only 2 places I have ever seen carpachio on the menu, and the steak was amazing. That being said, it is an excellent example of "you get what you pay for". My only actual criticism is that they need to make the entrance easier to find after sundown- the name of the place is on the door, but the lighting is such that you can't really see it after dark. Considering this is a dinner kind of place that is an issue.
The beef Oscar was interestingly delicious after a long day at college a Thursday Thursday sure paid off at The Blade And Barrel. Extra toasty's on the side makes for good dipping in the French onion soup. They served me well and the staff did a great job seating me and taking care of buisness thanks yall. Ill be back
Market Street Blade & Barrel provides a fantastic dining experience. The service is truly outstanding-- attentive and professional. The food is a genuine culinary treat. Every dish is thoughtfully prepared making it easy to find a new favorite on each visit.Their Happy Hour (seven days a week) is another standout-- affordable, generous, and a great way to sample some of their best dishes. This gem of a restaurant will not disappoint you!
John.. Our office attended a meeting at your restaurant and the food was exceptionally! Most importantly it was the stellar service you provided to our table! Thank you for your kindness throughout the evening!

Not sure what to expect as I drive here at 8pm. No one is on the streets. But they had a few people at the bar and no diners in the restaurant portion. The waiter is super friendly and was trying to help me decide. I went with the porterhouse which he said was the largest severing size and I had mentioned I didn't want a huge meal. He suggested the strip steak which was smaller and just as good. But I do like a good porterhouse. First off the salad, when I said blue cheese dressing, the crumbled fresh blue cheese on the dressing. Then the steak was gigantic. He wasn't exaggerating. I had ordered mine with one topping, bone marrow butter. Seriously, where was this all my life. It was delicious. I would put this on everything if I could. On the porterhouse, it became magical. I got the side of mushroom risotto. The risotto wasn't that creamy. I wouldn't get it again. No I didn't finish, but he packed it up all nice for me to take away.
Our waitress was fantastic. We were rushed through dinner by the hostess but the waitress made it ok. Food was fantastic.
It was ok, the plates cost quite a bit for what you get, but we were served well.
Went for Sunday Brunch. It was very good. Great company and food.
Food was great. Our server John M was on it. A little pricey, but not too bad.

Ordered the $60 rib-eye, and $50 NY steaks. Our salads were served at room temperature, on luke warm plates, with room temperature dressing. The spring mix for the salad had a dry taste and feel, like it had been left on the counter all day. It's definitely not the cold crisp salad I would expect, at upscale steakhouse prices. Ordered the mashed potatoes as a side with our steaks. They are definitely real because they were lumpy, and had the skins mixed in, for an "interesting" taste & texture, and were very sticky/starchy. I've had skin on red potatoes before, but these weren't red potatoes... My rib-eye had a good flavor, but was tough - not what I would expect a wet aged steak to be like. I didn't get up to go look for our waiter, so I just ate it as it was presented. There were only 3 or 4 tables occupied that I could see, so I had no idea why we didn't see our waiter more? I would consider our meal just a notch below Denny's, except Denny's doesn't have rock & roll music on the speakers, competing against the ball game on the TV in the bar. I ate dinner here two years ago, with a much better dining experience. Apparently, more than just the name has changed? 🤷 Based on our recent visit, it's unlikely I will return again, especially when there's better (in my opinion) choices locally, for the same or lesser prices.
We had Erik as our server. Everything was great until we got the check my quoted ribeye was 3 dollars more then quoted! plus the built in gratuity of 20% was not calculated correctly. We expect to pay for this celebration dinner but being nickelodeon and dimed on a 400+ meal doesn't seem like good business practice
For a to-go order on Easter Sunday afternoon, the service was a highlight – attentive, kind, and engaging without being overbearing. The ambiance of the restaurant suggested a pleasant fine-dining experience. We came in during a rush and had to wait roughly 35+ minutes but understandable as we imagine not to much stuff on hand for a family holiday at 4pm. Unfortunately, the entrees didn't live up to the same standard. The $57 beef short rib was a small portion, and the accompanying au jus was bitter, overly thick, and too salty. Also surprised there was a decision to not have mash potatoes for braised short ribs. The pork chops were adequately cooked and good sized chop with an apple sauce reduction, not too sure if anything was added to reduction as it just tasted like apple sauce. The French onion soup was average. In hindsight, and based on other reviews, it seems the steak dishes or burger are the recommended choices here. The drinks and happy hour menu looked interesting, and I'm inclined to give those a try in the future. Overall, though, our $130 meal was a disappointing experience. I would suggest giving them a chance but go with other food items.

The place is great visually, I like the look. The service wasn't very good it felt mechanical and not very personal. Appetizers were delicious. The main course wasn't very good. I had the lamb and it was overcooked and dry. My wife had chicken Parm and there was too much breading on it. My daughter asked for filet mignon medium rare and it came back well done. Overall I wasn't impressed. Paying over 300 should have been five stars. Two stars.
Been about 4 years since I last visited here, stopped in for lunch. We ordered the hot pastrami sandwich, which was good. Also ordered a burger with fried egg and some modifications. The burger came out with a burned egg, yolk solid and dry. The burger patty was flat, thin, overcooked and dry, with no flavor. Asked for mayo and mustard instead of fry sauce on the burger. Was told the kitchen would not put this on, I would have to do it myself. The piece of “lettuce “ that came on it was literally the bottom section of the core of an iceberg head. For a supposedly “upscale “ restaurant, and at $18 for a burger, I would expect the cooks to be capable of applying mayo and mustard without customer assistance. The onion rings were burned as well, and all stuck together. Upon asking to speak to the manager, I told her I was not paying for the burger, I only ate 3 small bites to see if it was good. She didn’t say a word, no apology, no offer to rectify the situation, she simply snatched up my plate and walked away. I left hungry and disappointed. Our server Veronica however was attentive and provided great service. Perhaps a fluke? Not sure if I’ll be back.

It was our first time eating here and we were excited to try it out. We did not make a reservation but the girl who sat us said they were not busy so has extra tables open. It didn't look too busy as there was many open tables all around us. We ordered steaks and i specifically asked for well done and my husband medium rare. We were waiting over an hour and out waiter apologized twice for the long wait and kept saying food was coming soon. We'll an hour and 30 mints later we got our steaks and they were not how we asked. They were both rare and they had to take my steak back to cook it more. We'll i cut my steak into thirds when I checked the inside and when I came back the other piece of steak wasn't there. So I definitely didn't get a 12oz steak and had to wait even longer while they cooked my steak. So my husband ate his food without me having mine so his didn't get cold and I ended up eating a little but if mine and just taking it to go. The waiter apologized and said that since they messed up that "desert was on me". So we got a piece of cheese cake to go but on thr recipe is said birthday desert and took that amount off. It was an overall exspensive horrible experience. I was so looking forward to going back and trying the alredo next time too.
The food was okay overall. The French onion soup was delightful and easily the highlight of the meal. The steak was a great cut and cooked well; however, the salt level was overwhelming—borderline salt lick territory. The Alfredo was similarly far too salty. The grilled salad was a complete disaster, while the Caesar was just okay. On the bright side, the service was excellent and attentive.

Was extremely disappointed. Finally got a date night with my wife after 3+years of getting to go out just her and I and was not to happy. Arrived to restaurant only one other couple in the whole place. Ordered an appetizer and was brought the complete wrong dish. We did not say anything just ate what was brought. Not impressed some chicken on top of small slices of toast coved in what seemed to be a Alfredo sauce. Then we each ordered steaks. My wife’s medium well and mine medium. Took over an hour and was told they messed up and had to start over. Then when we got our meals my wife’s steak was still bloody and definitely not medium well and mine was WELL done no pink. Not to mention my wife’s broccoli was cooked to a crisp and my mashed potato's were room temperature. Also. each steak had about a 3/4 cup of cold butter on top of them. We swapped steaks just so my wife would eat it. Then ordered a crème brûlée and it was in a dish not much bigger golf ball size around. Two small bites each. Then realized I had to pay $200.00 for this experience. Not one to leave bad reviews but we were extremely unsatisfied with this restaurant especially after not being able to go on a date just her and I in so long and this is what we got.
We made a Valentine's Day reservation a month in advance but were seated at a tiny two-person table right next to the busy bathroom and told we had only 1 hour and 15 minutes to dine. Surrounded by spacious booths, we felt stuck at the worst table in the restaurant, constantly brushed by people heading to the restroom. When we raised the issue, management was unapologetic and suggested we should have reserved a booth. We ended up leaving, making it one of the most disappointing Valentine's experiences we've had.
