Nicely located to look out Redondo beach from 2nd floor, away from crowds in a family-friendly setting with authentic Thai food.. Would be great to see smiles on the servers ^&^
This Gem is located on the second floor of pier. Beautiful views and fresh seafood is what's being served up here. Order your boil spicy and don't forget your favorite beverage and indulge lol.
The food is amazing, seasoned to perfection. Service is okay. Over the years they stopped letting you pay after and changed to demanding payment upfront and in cash. Other than that inconvenience, the food is outstanding ! Been a regular for years and years.
The mild seafood boil is just enough spice where the seafood is enjoyable. The bag is enough for 2 or maybe even 3 people. I do not know what spices are in the boil but it's extraordinary. I love this place and will be returning.
Nice view of the pier. Food is always Delicious! But food service from the waitress is not good.
Delicious food with a very decent view of the ocean. I love seafood and spicy so this is one of my favorite restaurants. I always get their seafood combo with their spicy garlic butter sauce! The combo comes with crab legs, crawfish, shrimps, clams, mussels, sausages, corns, and boiled potatoes. It is SO GOOD!!! Their fried rice with crab meat and sweet potato fries are also a must-try! They also have Thai spicy dip to pair with the seafood, you can always ask them for it. I usually take whatever left in that seafood combo bag home and do the fried rice with that. That spicy garlic butter sauce is liquid gold....so delicious! It's cash only so please make sure you are prepared. You may call in ahead of time if you want to reserve a table. You will be asked to place an order right when you walk in. You will be seated once the order is done and you pay for your order.
Absolutely love this place at Redondo Pier! The cajun seafood is amazing & fresh. You can pick the level of spiciness . They have the best full view outlook to the ocean especially sunset. We really enjoy the food & the vibe here. Staffs are friendly and very helpful.
The Shrimp Lover was my first time there. The place is small but packs a big punch. For instance... BYOD is allowed (nice) also purchase drinks from their bar and check out the waves from their full size picture windows. The food is made to order. Let me start off by saying they have the best fresh large Oysters. Their Oysters are a bit pricey $34 for 12 so I got the half plate for $18. My friends and I 3 Total shared a seafood bag that fed all 3 of us with food to spare. They have a restroom and a washing room with a sink for your sticky hands afterwards. ATM is available inside with their wall of memories full of photos. Overall I give this place 2 👍👍 up
We had such an amazing time at The Shrimp Lover! It is located right on the Redondo Beach pier. There are lots of windows with beautiful ocean views. They brought out the crab legs and vegetables in a bag! You have to be ready to dig in and I would recommend to wear your bib because it can get super messy. All of the food was tasty and delicious! Good service. A lot of fun, I'll definitely be back.
We took my family from out of town here for dinner before they headed back home to Florida and everyone enjoyed the food. Our waitress was awesome, very nice and courteous!! The food and service was excellent and we definitely will be visiting more often. Thank you for a great evening!!!
Such an underrated spot! Great views and yummy food! Loved the service and extra peanuts on my Pad Thai 💖✨🫶🏻
So, I have visited this place several times over the years. There has also been a lot of changes over the years. I had not visited in a while. One thing is constant though, the food is just tasty and delicious. So for this review I'll break it down into pros and cons, with a 5 star rating simply because the food and customer service during my most recent visit was 5 star quality. Pros: • Shrimp Medley sauce is so good, especially the spicy sauce. (I ask for less garlic as well) • The Fried Ocean has a little bit of everything and just perfect. • Fountain drink refills! • Customer Service! I kept getting visits, felt great to be taken care of. • The food, the food, the food - tasty and fresh. Cons: • Only Cash (ATM inside but charges 3 dollars for withdrawals) • Prices seem to have gone up. A lot. • There is a 15% "service charge" added to the bill. • You have to pay first before you are seated. Me and my partner ordered 2 pounds of shrimp with sausage, 1 pound of shrimp with 1 corn, family rice, 1 fountain drink and 1 fried ocean was about $140. Again, the taste of the food made it worthwhile. I recommend this place simply because it's really good. But be prepared to spend if you don't order strategically. Don't just order random things like I do cause it will pile up and again, you need to pay in advance. All in all, this place is still delicious and you can't go wrong with much on the menu. I recommend visiting this place bust most than anything try: Shrimp with medley sauce spicy & Fried Ocean & Family Rice The perfect combination.

The food was exceptionally good, not to mention the atmosphere just being at the beach and watching the waves.$65 for a bag of everything. Clams, mussels, shrimp, corn, sausage, crab, and potatoes.
Order the 69.99 boil. It was good . We went the Medley for flavor. Definitely has like a thai flavor. Basil, spices, peppers, and onions. It comes with two set of snow crab, two corns, a half a pound of shrimp and some potatoes and crawfish. Wevorder some fries as well. I'll think shortly after you'll still be hungry lol
Enjoyed our meal. 1 small bad was my not spicy soup had SOMETHING SUPER spicy in it. That took a while to recover from. Also be aware the receipt has a line for tip but the automatically include the tip in your total. They failed to tell us this which is not so cool. Still, I'd go back to try more things. The Cajun fries were amazing.
Went to shrimp lovers today 11/9/24 for dinner ....and OMG the food was excellent!!! Everything was nice and hot 🔥 and the garlic bread 🍞 😋 was delicious....the staff was amazing Angie was Terrific!!!! I highly recommend this place for great atmosphere and food .....nice view of the pier and the beach ⛱️
This little seafood spot is perfect for sunset dinners, outside patio and the view of the ocean is beautiful and stunning. Currently payment is CASH ONLY. The food was really good and the service for my first experience was also really good. The only reason why I cannot give 5 stars is because you must pay for your dinner/service first before even being seated. This was a first for me going into a restaurant and having to pay first, I didn't want to ruin the night so I went with the flow and paid regardless with trusting the service was going to be good. But that was my only complaint. But overall a wonderful dinner my family and I had and the service was great. We will definitely be back to eat here again.
The Baseline: For a seafood boil restaurant the seafood must be fresh, the sauces must be flavorful, the experience has to make my hands saucy, and the extra offerings must accompany the main boil. Food: The shrimp and other seafood is fresh and sold per pound. It includes the sauce choice along with the options for the add-ins such as potatoes, sausages, and corn. They offer other Thai inspired offerings such as fried rice, noodles, etc. as well as fries. It actually makes it a bit eclectic but I come here for the shrimp. I get them unpeeled with the heads on so you can snap them and then suck out the juices. It is really good for that and the sauces make them better. Service: The service is fine here but I only care about the food since I am going to get messy. My water and drinks were not left empty. Ambiance: This is a good place to eat shrimp right on the Redondo Beach pier. You can view the ocean as you chow down on some shrimp and have a beverage of choice. The bathrooms are a bit left to be desired but they have a separate wash station to clean your hands.
It has been a while since I've been there before the pandemic. Before you could walk in, sit down, get your menus. Look over the menu order and pay at the end. Now you look at the menu at the door pay and then take a seat other than that. The service was okay. The waitress was friendly enough. Not too attentive. The food was delicious. We order garlic noodles with chicken, chicken pad thai, and the boil bag of head off shrimp and snow crab, 3 corns and 2 potatoes cut up we enjoyed our drinks, Chardonnay, Thai tea, orange fanta and a diet coke all that $190. The shrimp and snow crab alone was $56.99 for 1.5 lb which was 2 clawsThe place is still nice and clean. Sitting by the water was wonderful and walking along the pier.
The food is good but diners BEWARE of a service charge automatically added to your meal to "provide shared pay the workers in the restaurant" I was told by the manager (basically they TAKE their tip), in addition to food tax to your bill, hence, your bill for food "may" be high. Also, CASH ONLY and you must order and PAY FIRST before being seated. However, if one is not pleased with their food, they are accommodating. So far, I've never had a problem or complaint with my food or service.
Good food, service, and location. Nice view of the pier and ocean at a distance. Cash only. Meter parking at the Pier.

Good food. Cash only. Good service. Just wished they provided wet wipes for clean up. Seafood boil can be messy when eaten with your hands, no utensils provided, without asking.
I want to start off with I have been coming to this establishment for 11ys! The food has always been great maybe 1 or 2 off days but other than that they are consistent. They made some changes probably due to inflation. Pros: great food, convenient, if your in a big party you get to pay up front separately. Cons: low on staff, because you pay up front before your seated they add the tip, but don't tell you it's already added. You could end up tipping twice. My biggest con was recently when I paid $8 for fries and I asked if I could change them because the kids said they were to spicy. She looked at me and said I have you less seasoning like you asked and did not want to redo them. I understand as a business owner you try to save money, but Fry's wholesale for about $40 for 5lb. Which can get you which can make 6-7 baskets. Yet it was such a problem to drop a new plain batch in. Because this is such a minor thing it really set me off. I already paid $80 for 2lb of shrimp, 2 fires, and was there less than 45min. So that means you virtually had to do no work.
My boyfriend and I were craving seafood one evening and decided to try this restaurant. We were very impressed with the food—the seafood boil was flavorful and perfectly prepared, and the Cajun fries were absolutely delicious. However, there were a few things that stood out as areas for improvement. We were surprised to learn that payment is required upfront and that it’s cash only, which wasn’t made clear beforehand and how it was told was very abrupt and rude. The restaurant was quite empty during our visit, but the food quality still exceeded our expectations. Our main concern was the cleanliness of the establishment. While the dining area seemed fine, the bathrooms were in poor condition and definitely needed A LOT of attention. Overall, the food was fantastic, but some adjustments to cleanliness and transparency around payment policies would enhance the experience.
the food was overall seasoned really well. packed with spices however i could only give three stars because i found a raw shrimp in my boil bag (it was clear and not white/pink). we let them know and nothing happened about that. whatever. not to mention the portion size was smaller than i expected. we ordered the combo which had a half pound of shrimp, crawfish, clams, mussels and two snow crab clusters. i could only find less than ten shrimps but okay (including the raw one). they also told us they forgot to charge us for a drink? i clearly remember us getting a drink receipt but either way we paid it. we didn’t cause a problem but i was expecting better service because it all seemed unorganized and the poor server didn’t even know what to do when things went wrong. not to mention they didn’t tell us about an automatic tip but again, all paid for and no problem. would just rather them be fully transparent but seems really unprofessional
Location is pretty good. Space is a bit small, had to park the stroller off to the side and take our stuff with us. You do order and pay first. They add a surcharge to "pay livable wages", then they charge an additional 3% to pay with a card. Of course, they have an ATM in the back... Paid $130 for 2 drinks, 3 lbs of shrimp (added potatoes, corn, and 1 order of sausage) and an order of fried fish, which were nothing more than fish sticks. Shrimp were paltry and the potatoes tasted like curry. We got the medley and it was okay. Not that much to dip into in the bag and no salt/limes provided. Small lemon wedge inside the bag was it. We got no refills and had to ask for more water. Definitely a once and done experience. The lady was very nice but nothing special or exceptional about this place, aside from being close to the pier.
Ordered the Seafood combo online, to go. It did not have the Dungeness Crab included. Only two snow crab clusters. The ribs were good though and as advertised.

They charge 3% for non-cash payments, including debit. They also charge a 12% service charge that's supposed to be CLEARLY posted, but isn't. I had to ask for my receipt to figure out why the math wasn't mathing🤦🏽♀️. Upon inspecting my receipt, I discovered the prices on the menu don't match. Whoever's running this place needs to do better. Let the customers know what they're paying up front, so there will be no discrepancies, misunderstandings, or feelings of dishonesty and deceit.
Location, food and service are actually pretty good. The place could use a bit of cleaning but overall decent. What's bad is that there is a mandatory service charge of 15% on everything. Why didn't they just raise the price? Maybe they are afraid that people will get sticker shock? It seems very deceptive.
I usually come here very often I always have the Best service when the very young lady is working today was my 10 stamps for a free pound of shrimp and the guy working today around 1pm didn’t give me my shrimp he just gave me an extra card and stamp and to top it off my fried shrimp wasn’t cooked all the way the sea food combo shrimp was small everything !!! The taste was way off very disappointing and very bad service makes me not want to come back ! Should have spent my 130$ else where maybe at Tony’s !
I had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant. The staff was shockingly rude. Not only did they fail to assist with the menu, but their unfriendly demeanor made the entire dining experience uncomfortable. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. Their shrimp boil tasted more like curry than Cajun. They also add a surcharge to "pay livable wages", then they charge an additional 3% to pay with a card.
This is the weirdest type of restaurant. You prepay for the food. If you want to pay with a credit card they add 3% surcharge, you can pay cash to avoid the surcharge. After you figure all that out, take a look at your receipt, if you dine in, you have to pay another surcharge. They said because we dine in we have to pay another $15+ surcharge which they don't tell you about. If you see my receipt it shows $15+ on the bottom, we ask them what this is about and they basically said it's for eating in the restaurant. They were rude and very weird about explaining this fee to us. I don't think it right for a restaurant to hide a fee and even before that what kind of restaurant charges you to eat at their restaurant. Basically having the guest for for their rent/lease. If you end up wanting more food or drinks you have to get up and go back to the front and wait in line to order more. The service fee doesn't even cover the servers ordering more food. A really weird way to run a restaurant business. Make sure you check your receipt. After all that you end up with a sour rate in your mouth and food sucks too.
Terrible Experience – Dangerous, Unfriendly, and Overpriced! I had a truly awful experience at this restaurant. I ordered the chicken soup, which seemed like a safe choice, but when I took a spoonful, I found a clam shell in it. As someone with a seafood allergy, this was incredibly dangerous. I’m lucky I noticed it before taking a full bite, but it’s shocking and irresponsible that such a serious mistake could happen. To make matters worse, the staff were completely unhelpful and unfriendly when I mentioned the issue. No apology, no empathy—just a cold reaction like it was no big deal. It was as if they didn’t even care about the safety of their customers. And on top of all that, I was overcharged. There was a hidden fee added to my bill that wasn’t explained anywhere on the menu, leaving me feeling completely ripped off. Between the unsafe food, rude service, and questionable charges, I would not recommend this place to anyone. I certainly won’t be returning, and I suggest others avoid it too—especially if you have allergies or care about good customer service. Zero stars if I could give them that!
First off me and my family have come here for years. Today we went for lunch and it was awful! They are obviously trying to cut costs and their customers are suffering because of it. Kids food was okay but long story short their king crab legs were old, shriveled, stringy and translucent. The waitress told me they are store bought. Why they're store bought is beyond me because they're literally at the source of fresh seafood! My sons fish filet used to be fresh catfish filet and now it's a frozen, shaped unknown fish. But my main concern was paying $100 for king crab legs that were not fit for consumption. I told the staff and they weren't happy with my complaints. They offered other food several times rather than the refund I wanted. In the end I got my refund but it wasn't easy. We will not be going back, shame on them. 👎👎
Our recent experience at this restaurant was disappointing on multiple levels. Unfriendly Service: The staff was quite unfriendly and unwelcoming, which set a negative tone for our visit. Complicated Payment System: You’re required to pay before eating, and if you choose to pay with a credit card, there’s a 3% surcharge (you can avoid it by paying cash). On top of that, dining in adds another surcharge, which was not clearly explained. Despite the local sales tax being 9.5%, they charged us 10.95% (photo attached as proof). Food Quality and Hygiene Concerns: We ordered the tom yum chicken soup, but it came with a couple of unexpected shell pieces. When we mentioned it to the waitress, she casually explained that it might have been left over from a previous seafood tom yum batch. Later that evening, my sister developed a rash after eating it, which raised even more concerns about the food hygiene here. Poorly Prepared Dishes: The chicken fried rice was overly sweet, while the tom yum soup was extremely salty, making both dishes difficult to enjoy. In summary, between the rude service, unclear extra charges, hygiene concerns, and disappointing food quality, we left feeling unsatisfied and uncomfortable. We do not recommend dining here.

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The customer service was extremely poor, the food was not good, and the staff had a bad attitude throughout our visit. What made it worse was the behavior toward my children, which felt rude and unprofessional. There were also inappropriate actions by staff that made the environment uncomfortable for my family. Overall, everything about this visit was horrible. I would not recommend this place, especially for families. Especially horrible frozen deep fried food
Prices on menu were not current, $8 difference from the current price. Must pay for food upon entering restaurant. You are also charged a 13.5% service charge on top of your subtotal. Older staff woman was rude when I asked for a box instead of using a plastic bag to take my leftovers. She ignored me asking for a box and I had to ask another waiter.
