Stopped in for an early dinner after school with my kid and it was a great choice. The ramen was delicious — rich, flavorful broth and perfectly cooked noodles. We sat at the bar and our server was incredibly kind and attentive. You can tell when someone genuinely cares, and she absolutely did. The space had a calm, cool vibe too. Definitely adding this spot to our Monday dinner list.
Stopped to grab early dinner after school with my kiddo. The ramen was really good, broth was flavorful and I loved the consistency of the noodles. The best part? We sat at the bar and our server was the sweetest, kindest, most personable human I’ve ever met. I’m a counselor by trade and I don’t often find people who are completely present and engage when they are working. She deserves more than 5 stars. We are putting this place on our list of early dinner options for our Mondays. The decor and space was cool too, we felt at peace and will definitely be coming back.
Spice level is amazing love the heat coming from their dishes! Building is awesome! Bar people are dope too and nice! Food amazing.
Touch pad to place your order, quick simple and fast. Seating was open with plenty of space. I got the Kyushu Tonkotsu, it was great!
LOVE THIS SPOT! Been coming here for 3 years now and it never disappoints. Lisa and Skyler always do a great job and make sure everything is to our liking. The ramen is never overcooked and the spice is ALWAYS on point to order. Don’t get spicy food if you can’t handle it!!! Never had cold broth, vegetables are always still crunchy, eggs are always soft boiled and marinated to perfection! Love the atmosphere! ONI is BASED
I really enjoy the ramen here; the food is delicious, and the tonkatsu is flavorful. I love the ability to customize. The Oni Reaper is my absolute favorite. The only downside is that the location is quite loud indoors, making it difficult to have conversations unless you sit outside.
Ordering process can he improved, If you're unfamiliar with the different types of ramen, is hard to figure out what you actually want in the additional varieties. Food is great, spicy levels up there, order your spice responsibly. They do NOT give you refunds if it's too hot. Start mid slowly work your way up. Level five is hot and amazing.
Oni Ramen is our absolute favorite! The ramen is consistently delicious, I love how they offer a range of spice levels, allowing us to customize our bowls to perfection and the pork is always tender and flavorful. Plus, their hot sake is the perfect warm and comforting drink to go with the meal. The only downside is that it tends to get crowded, but the food and cozy atmosphere make it worth the wait every time.. It's best when you dine in..
Great ramen! We got the Reeper Ramen and it was 🔥 🥵 HOT! Everything was delicious. The first time we went, we really enjoyed the food....but the music was REALLY LOUD. Couldn't even hear ourselves talking. We just got back from a 9 hour drive from Mississippi and we left with our heads pounding. But this time, everything was perfect.
Maybe I came on a bad day. I've been here a handful of times, and I usually get the Rich Tonkotsu with medium spice, add garlic and corn, and it's usually pretty good and consistent. 🍜This time, I tried the Tokyo Black just to get out of my box, and it was just ok. It had an overwhelming charred/burnt taste, which I didn't care for. I asked for no leafy greens and added mushrooms, corn, and medium spice. The spice was perfect, and the pork belly was nice and thick, but that was the only highlight of the entire meal. The waiter asked if I wanted hard or soft boiled egg, and although I asked for soft boiled (twice), I received hard boiled (twice). 🥚🥚I do recommend this place because the Tonkotsu is normally good, but I'm good on the Tokyo Black.
This review is for those looking at gluten free options. They have 1 gluten free option, and it’s the vegetarian ramen. It was a good meal, but I won’t be ordering it again; the noodles were fine, but the broth felt like it was missing some flavor. I’d love if there was a gluten free miso option, or even if there was some gluten free soy sauce they could sub in for some of the other bowls. Also, their boiled eggs are marinated in what im assuming is a sauce containing gluten because they took it off of my order. That was also a bummer.
Looking for a new Ramen place to try out and came across Oni. I was immediately turned off at the kiosk ordering feature but we tried it out anyways. Broth is a lot less salty than most which is great but still lacked a robust umami flavor. We ordered veggies pot stickers and they were delicious. We both did a mild spice upgrade (insane that it cost for a spice level) and I do suggest ordering on the side… the Tonkotsu had an overwhelming ginger flavor but everything else about the food was pretty good. I scored a whole star less because there is no service and ordering at a kiosk plus picking up your own ramen was not the dinner date we expected. For a quick meal it’s a good concept but we did watch at least 3 couples leave after a long discussion at the kiosk. It’s not a date night vibe. Would consider in future.
The ramen is good, just not great. The noodles could be better for the price we're paying for. Eggs and spice are not included for the price. And toppings are limited by two. Honestly just too overpriced for what you're paying for at better quality restaurants for cheaper/similar price. Gyoza was good, though felt like store bought - unless proven otherwise. At least egg was actually soft boiled. Restaurant settings was a good vibe and they have a bar. Plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. Location is iffy for parking.
The Good: absolutely beautiful decor and great location next to George Bush Freeway. The Bad: The whole vibe of this place screams "Daddies Money." There are self service kiosks where you must order yourselves, which as others have said, was a little disconcerting, especially for those who may not be familiar with traditional Ramen. The first sign of trouble was when it said there was a charge for any spice. I've traveled all over the world and never encountered this.It just smacks of nickle and diming. Suggested tip was 20%, which seemed average. Then I realized that you have to walk over to the kitchen yourself, AND retrieve any drinks separately from the bar! What am I tipping you for, exactly? Several tables had plates stacked that no one was cleaning, and the only "free" one had someone's trash. I cleaned it off myself. After getting the food (which was surprisingly quick) with a weird look from the chef (no idea why!) and then having the guy at the bar go through my receipt and finally figure out our drinks, we sat down and tried it. In short, VERY average Ramen. Mine was WAY too spicy to be "medium" but was ok, I guess. There are notices saying they won't remake if you don't like the spice level so I guess there have been issues with this before. That's right, if YOU, the customer, having zero contact with the chef, don't like the spice that YOU selected, then tough. My girlfriend ordered shio (salt) based Ramen which was WAY too salty. For over $50, I expected way better. I lived in Japan for over 6 years and this place acts like they're the creme de la creme, but if they opened in Tokyo they'd be out of business in a week.
Overpriced ramen. EVERYTHING is an upcharge. You want your egg to be boiled? Upcharge. Want the broth to be a little spicier? Upcharge. Actually insane how much they want to charge you for something I could find anywhere else. Not to mention the tipping services they call for. What am I tipping for? I ordered at a kisok and had to grab my own stuff. So glad there's better places for ramen out there.
