What a great way to spend my date night with my main squeeze. The sushi is super fresh with the salmon tasting like butter in your mouth. The restaurant is very busy so make sure that you make a reservation if you come during peek hours. However once you are seated, the restaurant offers a clean welcoming environment in which you want to stay and chill. On top of all that, the service is excellent and the owner personally goes around the room to ensure his guests are well served. I will absolutely be going there as my go-to sushi spot from now on.
The food was delicious and the place was clean. I can recommend to serve the ramen hot, because it was a bit cold for my taste.
Chen's was super good! Big compliments to the owner himself. He cheffed up some really delicious rolls for me the other day. In addition the Spicy Miso Ramen was 10/10 it made me reminisce of my vacation in Japan, last year. 🤤
This place has great food. I'm not a sushi person, but the owner convinced me to eat sushi, and that says a lot. Worth your time
Take out- another blessed year of celebration! Family loved their sushi from Chen’s! Thank you 🙏😋
The spicy ramen was perfect. The ono sushi is probably the best sushi I have ever eaten.
Great food great experience and Kai is the man. Truly enjoyed everything I had and would highly recommend!
Fantastic sushi! Thick cut nigiri and flavorful ramen.

We are from out of town, but waitstaff was very friendly and we had a fun time at the sushi bar. The sushi was some of the freshest and tastiest I have had. A great meal!!!
There is obvious passion here. The fish is fresh and the owner works very hard to make it so. The service is kind and even when busy, not overwhelming or loud. Even sat next to a whole family with four kids and it just genuinely felt like a good experience. The food: top tier, but some notes on the sushi. The fish is cut very thick and indulgent, which is wonderful but can be a bit much. Perhaps we need that out here. I am biased though and liked it. The rice is lacking; it's overcooked and has too much water, maybe not rinsed enough? A bit mushy. Doesn't hold its form much, but that's okay. I like rice a lot and have opinions on it but it doesn't make them the right opinions. The hot food options are phenomenal. I enjoyed the tonkontsu ramen. That broth tasted like it took a while, but compliments are in order even if it didn't because it takes skill to marry flavors and introduce subtlety. Extremely comforting Japanese-style with a twist. Well-priced. As simple as it sounds, I think a congee or okayu would go over extremely well here since it's a novelty to most locals and would appeal to the elders of the community. Overall, I hope Chen's is here to stay.
The pork ramen and sushi were delicious, and the service was excellent! We will definitely be back!
We went to Chen’s for dinner and had such a nice time! Everyone was really kind and the service was great. The food was so good and came out pretty quick, which was great because we had our 5-year-old with us - and he loved it too. I ordered the ribeye and definitely recommend it! The atmosphere felt cozy and welcoming, not loud or stressful, just a really comfortable place to sit and enjoy a meal. We left happy, and Chen’s will be our new go-to dinner spot.
Food was amazing! We had an assortment of appetizers, sushi, ramen, dinners and a kids meal. All excellent. Didn't get many pics of the food because we all ate it so quick! My fav was the Crown Roll and the Black Pepper Shrimp! They can add black pepper sauce to anything, so yum! The atmosphere is calm and clean. Very nice! Attentive staff and the owner even gave us a gift certificate for next visit since it we were celebrating a birthday. They also accommodated a dairy allergy very nicely. Highly recommend!!
Their sushi is my favorite in town, fresh and flavorful. My wife had the steak and it was cooked and seasoned well. Stir fried veggies were good too. I had the seafood Ramen, didn't care for it.* It was my first time ever having Ramen so maybe Ramen isn't for me. Service was good, checked on us regularly, refilled drinks before we had to ask, cleaned up plates as they were empty. Clean atmosphere, and the air conditioner was WORKING, because even I was cold. Overall great experience, we'll be back! So happy to have quality sushi back in Ridgecrest. *EDIT I went back and got the Tonkotsu Ramen and SO good.

First time eating here and the food was phenomenal. Portions sizes are generous and the sushi was great! Will definitely be back

I was underwhelmed with the food. the place looks clean, but they did seat a customer at a table that was not washed from the prior customer. there was plenty of staff and we were seated fast with drinks almost immediately. there was a lot of selections including virgin mixed drinks. the food was served so fast I was a bit surprised. I got the teriyaki chicken but the chicken was dry and did not taste like it was marinated. the onion was raw and over powered the taste of the seasonings, if there were any. my girlfriend had the beef ramen which also had flavor problems. they used ground beef and the broth tasted like it was vegetable stock. it was spicy to her liking, but the other ingredients seemed... not fresh. she and I regularly cook and could have certainly made better tasting ramen and chicken from a freezer dinner at half the cost. Maybe this was an off night. We have heard good things from others, but I am not recommending them.

Food was decent, nothing to write home about. Customer service was essentially tossed out the window. We were sat upon arriving with no menu, staff never came over to our table to see how we were doing, and didn’t get offered a refill until we were already finished with our food (which if you order the ramen will take quite some time, so get an appetizer).
The place smelled fishy which normally fresh sushi doesn't have a strong fish smell which is concerning. Food was luke warm and got a few pieces of uncooked rice. Overall seasoning of the rice noodles dish was bland and the flavors didn't mix very well. The atmosphere is really nice and the waitresses were all very kind and helped get the remainder of our sushi when it was forgotten. Overall wife and I left very "meh" if that's a mood people understand, but I always encourage others to try it for themselves to base their own opinions.
Ramen noodles seemed out of a package. Ramen broth was not good. No egg in the ramen as described on the menu. The bean sprouts were not fresh and barely could be seen. It was not even very hot. Pork was very good. Service was excellent. Price was reasonable. Vegetable egg rolls were good.
The food was OK and fairly priced. The servers are doing their best. The food was fine. They forgot one of our drinks. The ramen was decent. We had to wait 30 minutes for the one sushi roll which came out long after we were done with the ramen. The roll was falling apart but tasted OK. I entire dining room was smokey from the kitchen. I would recommend trying other places before coming back here. Overall everything was OK but just not worth $70.

After 2 hours my kids never got their meals. We got to the restaurant at about 645pm, on Friday June 27th. We were seated right away and after perusing the menu for a few minutes made our order. My wife and I ordered ramen and my sons got Soba noodles and Stir Fry. I also put in an order for a California roll and 2 pieces of sushi. After about 20 minutes or so I asked one of the servers about the sushi and we were told it would be a little while because they were busy. Okay. About 15 more minutes later we were served the ramen and my sons got their side salad. We took our time eating the ramen, to wait for my kids to get their dinner. A few minutes later we got the sushi and roll. The kids tore into it because they were hungry. After a while the server apologized and said it would be out shortly. Another 20 minutes or so went by and I asked the server to just put the meals in a to-go box. She apologized again and said the food would be right out. We waited a while longer, until about 830ish, and decided to leave. I went to the cashier and explained we were leaving. I sorted out the bill, she took off the two dinners we never got. I pulled out my credit card to pay for the ramen and sushi that we actually got and was told they charge an additional 3% for credit cards, of course you do. I don't think we'll go back. The ramen was mediocre at best. Got my boys McDonald's on the way home, they probably finished that before the dinner got to go to the table
We ate here twice. First time was good but they forgot one of our orders. Second time not sure what happened but the service was bad. I see people just chatting and even looked like avoiding eye contact with us. The sushi we liked tasted weird and the ramen was cold our kids didn’t wanna eat them. Not coming back again.

This was my first time here at Chens Kitchen, when I walked in and I was greeted by Barbra one of the main waitresses with a very unwelcoming condescending tone "can I help you" as if I didn't belong there, no smile, no nothing, when I would say thank you she would say nothing back and walk away, nobody asked me if I was ok or needed anything the whole time during my meal. But as other guest walked in she was friendly with them or at least more welcoming and the vibe made me upset and ruined the whole meal for me, I set the money on the table and walked out I didn't bother going to the register the food was ok not the best but also not the worst just mid at best. I am unsure if my skin color was something at play but regardless if it was or wasn't I will not be returning here to eat ever again. It pays to treat EVERY guest that walks in with the same respect and hospitality regardless if they're regulars or not and regardless of their origins.
