Been here a couple times and I always get the garbage plate. Always good and fast service. The root beer that is special to Tom Wahls is also very good and full of vanilla. Never had a bad experience here and the employees are nice enough. The only issue is that there is no drive through. But I wouldn't want to eat such messy food in the car anyway.

Lady up front was the kindest person I’ve ran into in food service in a while. Didn’t rush us and provided alternatives when something didn’t work out.

Have always loved Tom Wahls, its been our go to place for cheeseburgers (and hot sauce). This time I was bummed they got my order wrong and the hot sauce was watery. Will be signing up for their rewards program since they no longer use coupons

Very friendly staff. Never been disappointed. The grilled chicken sandwich has been perfectly cooked 3 times in a row. The fact that Tom Wahl's is within walking distance of home makes it a nice convenient outing. Keep up the great work! Will be a regular customer! I wrote this review while waiting for another chicken sandwich... #4 is again PERFECT. So damn good!

Never been to this place before even tho I have lived in Rochester my whole life pretty much. All I can say "wow what I missed a this year ". Great place and great customer service. Food was on point, best crinkled fries and greatest cheeseburger.

The Brighton Tom Wahl's is very clean and efficiently run by very good staff. Try their grilled hot dogs & burgers, mini & large fish fry,crispy French fries, good cole slaw, mac salad, fried mushrooms & onion rings. Their frosted mug of root beer is delicious too. You will love everything on the menu! Dessert: excellent ice cream and milkshakes!

The ladies in charge here were very sweet, nice, and accommodating. One of them asked if the gluten was an allergy, which I highly appreciate. Especially because I got sick the last couple of times I went out to eat. I would definitely come back to this location in the future, if I'm in this area.

Had my first Wahlbureger. It was excellent and the crinkle fries were the best! Excellent Root beer. Wish they had a drive through, but I will be back!

My family and I were visiting the area and wanted something a little different from the regular fast food places. I discovered this restaurant and was highly pleased. The food was hot and fresh. The atmosphere was friendly with a 50s dinner feel. 10 out of 10 recommend.

Absolutely delicious food! We ordered the 55 junker plate, chicken finger happy meal and cheeseburger happy meal... came to about $31.00. Wasn't too badly priced. It was a nice family brunch.. The staff was decent and the place was very clean.

Home of the Wahlburger. Definitely try it out. It is pretty large. The fries are also thick and crispy. What's really special is their homemade root beer. Try it as a float for the best experience. This place is definitely a cut above the other fast food chains.

Our first time in. The young man waiting on us was flustered (it was packed) but still took the time to answer our questions. If he had a hiccup w the register the manager was right there to help him. She supported him every step. It was so great to see. So many times new staff are rushed and unsupported in a fast pace establishment. It was awesome seeing the teamwork to get people served quickly and efficiently. We got a garbage platter, a few burgers, onion rings, the BEST Krinkle fries, an Oreo milkshake, and the most AMAZING root beer!!! Everything was delicious and the portions were HUGE! We will definitely go back when we are in Rochester again! 😋

Happy Hour Rootbeer Float was pretty good for the price of $1.99. The Orange Float I received apart of the vanilla ice cream lacked any flavor. Drinking it with a straw tasted little of anything. But the first float outweighed the cons of the second. I'll be back at some point for more for sure!

The Tom Wahl's on Monroe Ave. in Brighton, NY. It's fine, just the usual chain restaurant type place. They keep it very clean, including restroom. Fish very tasty. Burgers good. Ice cream great. Order takers, cooks etc. very friendly, will joke with you etc. - they remember you if you come in often.

The building was clean, the people were friendly and the food was what you'd expect. The cheese curds are DELICIOUS. My only complaint was that I ordered a chocolate shake and it was chocolate milk or milkshake bar with no ice cream... so it was kind of gross but I didn't feel it was worth mentioning. Otherwise... a decent place to eat and yummy food.

As usual, the wahlburger was fantastic and the french fries were also fantastic. Family enjoyed the food that we had. I appreciate that. The person doing the cleaning was also filling the ketchup bottles at the same time.

Went with a family member. She ordered the Swiss mushroom burger while I ordered a vegetarian burger and lemonade. The bill was almost $20 and quite frankly not worth it. While the veggie burger was tasty, it was flat and crumbly. It did hang over the bun but didn't warrant the $7 price tag. The Swiss mushroom burger was dry and tasteless. We were not pleased with the overall experience. At all. Will not be going back.

The burgers fries onion rings are so delicious! The homemade root beer was outstanding!! The coleslaw was ok but everything thing else was great! The service was fast and courteous. Highly recommend!!

I was happy to see another Tom Wahls around! It was a pleasant experience aside from the parking lot. Great food and good service inside. One of my Favorite local places to eat if I want a locally cooked burger. Be careful in the parking lot while entering as the spaces are so close to the access road all you have to do is even slightly back up and you risk getting hit by a car that can't see you or is entering at the same time. It is too tight a squeeze.

Great food, but REALLY expensive. Before the online coupon, our order for 3 people was ~ $60! Disappointed that they were out of their famous root beer. And they've started using plastic cups for their drinks (because we need more plastic waste...)

Their hamburgers are excellent! You can taste the difference. I asked for my fries to be extra, extra well-done. When my co-worker went up to get our food, the worker looked at my fries (I wasn’t even there) and said she would send them back because they weren’t done enough! Five stars for food and service! I would have given them a total rating of five stars if they were a little bit cleaner (tables and restrooms).

Great place for burgers and fish fry. Good sized portions. Very fresh. The restaurant is clean. Too bad that they don't have diet root beer like Culver's.

On my visit, I asked for BBQ chicken fingers ON my grilled cheese and was given them on the side, which was a problem because you can't take apart grilled cheese once it's cooked. The cashier asked me to repeat my order, so it was said twice. It could be miscommunication or something else, but I've had it done before at Bill Grays, Schallers, and other Tom Wahls locations. I decided not to go back and ask for it to be redone because the food was still good. The root beer option on the soda fountain would drip out some sort of clear liquid from the edges and cracks into the cup. Another soda option was coming out clear, so we let an associate know who happened to be walking by. He looked at us and kept walking without any acknowledgment, and it was never fixed during our visit. Other than that, the food was great and the service wasn't too bad. We usually have great experiences with Tom Wahls and are willing to give this location another shot next time we are in the area.

Crowded parking lot, no drive thru. The dining room is crowded too. And I didn't love the Whalburger. I found it to be dry and bland. Overall an underwhelming experience. There is a pretty table way over on the other side of the parking lot, by the river. It's a cute place to sit if the weather's nice.

Somewhat overrated local burger chain. The burgers are all flattened patties with little taste. Fries are decent if you get them well done. Frosted mugs of root beer are the only distinguishing item here. Very overpriced. You can get a juicy burger and fries at a waitress-service restaurant for the same price.

I ordered a mushroom Swiss burger meal and I asked if I could substitute onion rings for the fries and I was told yes. but I was charged extra for the onion rings and the drink was not included in the meal!! paying over $18 for a burger meal is outrageous and I can't afford it whether the quality of the food is better than the fast food options or not 🥴🫣

Not bad. It's the closest Tom Wahl's to be so there's that. Burgers one kind were cooked so dry. Another night the CO2 for the pop machine was out and we had to wait 10-15 min, as well as quite a few others, for them to screw the new canister in. I. The same night the root beer was also out and it took, you guessed it, 10-15 min for that to get fixed. I've been here 3 times and 2 out of the 3 there has been an issue. If you want TW's and need to be close then sure, just don't have high expectations.

Love their rootbeer floats (when they're on sale). The wahlburger is truly delicious.

This place has some good things- friendly staff, a big parking lot (just be careful, it's one way) and gluten free rolls. I love that it's a local NY chain as well. I always really want to enjoy it, but, I personally find the food really bland and it's very expensive. In all fairness, I've only had the burgers and fries, so perhaps other options are better, but, for me, if I want a burger this isn't where I'll go. 😕

Food is good. But the service is lacking. We were charged an extra mug soda and burger and when we asked for a refund we got an eye roll and loud sigh from the manager as if it was our fault when we very clearly ordered and wanted to make sure we got only 4 burgers. Then to add make matters worse a hair was found on one of our burgers. Won’t be returning to this location.

I've been going to Tom Wahls for about 35 years. Quality still is good, but the prices are getting steep. At $7 for a cheeseburger, even with a buy 1 get one 1 half off, was $12 for two burgers and a water. Went the other day and a side order of fries or onion rings is in the $5 range. Probably giving this place a rest for a while. The food itself is good though, and the place is clean.

Although this restaurant is a local favorite of mine, my meal was a disappointment. The burger was overcooked and burnt on the edges. In addition, the French fries were barely warm. Even more puzzling is that we were one of the first few customers and the restaurant was not busy. As I have had great meals here in the past, I hope this was just a bad day.

Management is great and has always been great at this location. But it seems when the manager is not working, service and food is beyond subpar. I ordered from here a few hours ago (Caesar salad, wahlburger, fries/onion rings). I had my fiancé pick it up and just like last time, the kids working have zero clue what they’re doing. The last couple times I’ve gotten a burger, they put it at the very bottom of the bag and I end up with a squished pancake burger. The burger itself was so dry, it was not even edible. My salad was full of soggy, nasty, brown lettuce. This place used to be amazing with great service and consistent food. It seems a lot of teens work there now and they don’t know what they’re doing, or are just lazy.

The burger had an unpleasant taste to it; the Pepsi from the fountain was flat, and the cleanliness of the place was subpar. We love Tom Wahl's. HOWEVER, it was our first visit to that particular location, and it was our first bad experience at Tom Wahl's.

Read a review that praised the fish sandwich---beg to disagree: it should have been placed on a hoagie, desperately needed seasoning, and came only with plain shredded lettuce. Even the nice lady who took my order isn't enough to bring me back.

The early close is frustrating at 8:00 pm. About a week ago I got there at 8:01 and it was closed. Went there again yesterday and got in at 7:50 with 8 people. Was told we would have to order to take out. Then finally said we could stay but would have to eat in less than 10 minutes and would have to order ice cream at same time as meals. We ate outside to get out of the way but could not get back in for bathroom. In general did not feel very welcome. Kicker was now cheeseburger BOGO coupon is get one half price. Will not be going back anytime soon. Will keep an extra star just because food is good. Used to be 4 star... One of our favorite family restaurants. Great food. Better ice cream. A little disappointed this trip as could not find a clean table and one hot dog for $4.50 seems a bit much.

I give the store atmosphere a 5 star but as far as the menu and pricing goes, it’s really outrageous for the quality and quantity you receive ! They have combo numbers up on the menu but you tell the cashier and they type in everything individually not just a straight up combo. So you are paying for everything separate. The parking lot is also very oddly designed .

The food is hit our miss bc they employe a bunch of incompetent teenagers. If you go there ten times expect the food to be good maybe 2.

No one looked as if they wanted to be there. We were greeted with stink face from everyone. If you dont like your job, find something that at least excites you.

The service started out well cashier was very engaging repeated my order I ordered three different value meals and ask for them to be in separate bags when I received my food they were all in one bag and I proceeded to stand at the counter and open each Burger to see which one was what the person who passed me the order never asked me was there anything wrong didn't acknowledge me even standing there pretty much act like I wasn't even there which is totally unacceptable because I am a manager at another establishment I would never have my employees act the way she did that was a real turn off it's going to be a while before I go back to this restaurant

We have been going to Tom Wahl's in Avon for decades and never been disappointed! Tonight we went to Tom Wahl's in Brighton. We ordered two RARE hamburgers and two orders of lightly cooked fries. The order arrived a half hour later BURNED! We left and tried calling them several after we arrived back home. No one picked up the phones they have horrible service we are very disappointed! Never will return there again!

Celiacs beware. I just watched the cook handling onion rings and then handling my son's french fries with the same gloves. They don't care and were rude when I said something. This place is going down hill fast. If you eat here there will be a good chance of cross contamination.

Paid for a value meal. Not only didn’t get the side but paid extra for onion rings. Called after pick up, took 4 calls to get someone to pick up the phone only to be told we had to come back to get a cash refund after we paid online by credit card. Food was decent but don’t bother. Also the “manager” was rude and unhelpful.

Extremely disappointing. I like the burgers and shakes. Today, I ordered a chili cheese dog. It was an undercooked hot dog, sliced open vertically, with a glob of cheese-like substance and bland chili poured over it all on a hamburger bun. It was soggy and nearly impossible to eat. When I pointed to the picture of a hot dog on the menu depicting a hot dog in a hot dog bun, I was told that I needed to order it "carnival style". No such language on the menu nor was I offered a choice. Stick to burgers, Mr. Wahl, you know nothing about hot dogs.

Two days out of the week my individual with special needs go out to eat at our favorite restaurants. We decided to come here and usually I order a junk plate, I still ordered it anyways and this time not any other time did I ever had to ask to have my burger cooked well and clearly since I didn't say anything it was flamingo pink on the inside I didn't notice it until all my toppings were gone. Disgusted I may say after I saw it. I went to the counter an asked am I supposed to ask for my burger to be cooked well? The answer was yes you do ...I replied But I never have before an I was brushed off like I was supposed to just know that ... Not sorry for your inconvenience on their behalf.... So since I was disgusted and brushed off,I just threw it away and left. I will not be back !

I placed my order in person and paid cash. I sat and waited. While I was waiting I noticed that the person that took my order leaving so I continued to wait. I noticed a large group order and get their food, then I noticed a couple order their food and get their food, and finally a woman ordered her food and got her food then leave. All the long I noticed this bag just sitting there. I finally got up from my seat and asked about my order and they tried giving me this bag that had been sitting there for a while now. The female that took my order never communicated to the next crew about my order so I told them I did not want that cold food and asked for a refund. The female and young man did apologize, which was cool but I was not happy with the person that took my order and her lack of detail and communication. I went elsewhere and will not return to Tom Wahl’s. I know it’s fast food but everyone else did get their order timely, I did not.

I don’t know how hard it is to get a burger order right? Been here a dozen times and they seriously cannot get the toppings right. They either forget the toppings or switch the sandwich toppings. It’s not that hard, read the ticket and put the fries in the bag. Then when you ask for them to fix it and give you the toppings, they have the upmost worst attitude . As if it’s an inconvenience for them to do their job. They have amazing food but just read the ticket and get the toppings right.

I didn't dine in this restaurant. But I had a coupon for 2 burgers, and I thought 🤔 it was a buy one and get one free. So I went to Tom Wahl's 2 get da burgers 🍔 and da clerk, said it's buy one and da other is half price off. So after he ring it up it came up to $14 dollars and some change. I said hell nah, so I walked out and never used the coupon. Tom Wahl's is a rip off, I will never go back there no more. They're not like Bill Gray's, Bill Gray's coupon is buy one and get one free. At least they'll give you a break so I'll give Bill Gray's a good rate. But Tom Wahl's is getting a very low rate 0 👎 Watta waste 🙃

Rude order taker, food was terrible, burger not cooked thoroughly after I asked to have it so. Chicken tender meals for kids tasted like they were several days old! The French fries were cold, and flavorless! The only good thing was the root beer!

The dining room is like an old diner, the best thing about this place. I ordered a mushroom swiss burger. The bun immediately soaked up the sauce and it was mush. The burger patty was flavorless and crumbled apart as I was eating. I ate the top bun that had cheese and canned mushroom stuck to it. The most flavor was in the Swiss. This place is way overrated. I would not stop again. I can get a better $9 burger ANYWHERE else. Save your money.
