I love this place! Fast and friendly service every time I've gone. So many unique coffee flavors and their pastries are great! They even offer some gluten-free options! The atmosphere is very artsy and social. The area is nice as well! Worth a stop if you're in the area
I moved to the area about a year ago and was in desperate need for a new hangout spot with good coffee. Let me tell you, I’m absolutely hooked on this place. A nice atmosphere, incredibly friendly staff, early/late hours, great coffee + meal options, and the perfect place to meet up with friends, or get work done. It’s always the first place I suggest when friends/coworkers want to get coffee or lunch. I am here at least 3 times a week because the atmosphere is exactly what I’ve been looking for!!
The atmosphere of this Cafe is quite charming and the coffee is some of the best in the Rochester area. The art on the walls is amazing and the staff is friendly, quick and efficient. While the line is always long here the people are served quickly and the coffee is always worth the wait. On a side note: This cafe may have one of the best public restrooms in all of Rochester. The bathroom is super clean and is decorated very lavishly.
This place always surprises me because the staff is friendly. Too many hip coffee places like this are staffed by too-cool-for-you hipsters, but somehow not this one. The employees look the part but lack the attitude. The place has a cool vibe, and the service has been quick and organized each of the 4 or 5 times I've been there. The prices are reasonable, and best of all the coffee is consistently excellent - in my opinion, anyway.
Cafe Sasso! My boyfriend and I had our first date here! Great date spot. The coffee is decent, and the food is your standard coffee shop fare of decent baked goods. The atmosphere is what makes it special, and it’s right in the heart of Park Ave, a very walkable neighborhood.
Fantastic cafe! I stopped into Cafe Sasso while visiting Rochester, and my drink (The Sgt Pepper) was absolutely delicious. Excited to return next time I’m in town.
One of my favorite cafes in Rochester. This has been a staple for me for so many years! They have delicious lattes, amazing sandwiches and great baked goods on hand always. The atmosphere is great to sit and chat or get work done. Always a good place to hit up for coffee!
This cozy cafe is my favorite coffee shop in Rochester. They have the BEST chai (I prefer their vanilla chai but their spiced is just as good) and their customer service is top notch. I appreciate the variety of seating options as well as the range on their menu. Love love love this spot!
Their basic coffee is well done. It isn't scaled or bitter in any fashion, and it is reasonably priced! Their lattes and cookies were a very yummy combination. The staff is amiable and waiting to serve. The ambiance is quaint, cute, and artsy. It is a great place overall the only issue is that its small footprint will cause it to be busy feeling.
Great place of you’re looking for a relaxed spot for a well made coffee. Their fresh lemonade is good too!
Great place to either sit down and do some work or pop in and grab a quick drink. The baristas are always very nice and they have never gotten an order wrong once. They always are great at checking with me for things like whole milk vs skim milk, and are very quick! Definitely stop by - I love their hot chocolate and double chocolate muffins.
Been going to Cafe Sasso for years & years and it will forever be like a home away from home for me. Amazing coffee, great food options, yummy desserts and many vegan/vegetarian options. All the employees are usually very kind, fast and efficient even during busy times. The VooDoo child sandwich is my boyfriends holy grail quick-bite and smells AMAZING!!!!! All in all, give this place a visit. You will not be disappointed. Also the owners Jess & her husband are the sweetest. I am so grateful to have found this spot when I did and got to watch them flourish! Thank you for creating such a safe space<3
Love their Jefferson‘s Airplane bagel and iced Red-eyes. So glad there’s a spot like this in the neighborhood. Staff is hardworking and so nice, drinks and food are consistently well done. Lines can get long on weekends, but worth the wait. Great local small business, keep it up team Sasso!
I really enjoy setting up with my work and an iced coffee on the window ledge! Super kind staff and nice seating options. Happy with all the basic coffee bevs I have gotten :) Note that there’s no wifi so if you need internet make sure to have your own connection! I find that the music can be pretty loud so I bring loop ear plugs!
Always great food and delicious drinks, a favorite when I bring friends/family from out of town. Love coming here but can be very busy and crowded on the weekends so not always a place to sit. No public wifi and dim mood lighting in the evenings which is cute, but not conducive to reading/ doing work.
Visit all the time, reasonable prices and very friendly staff. A great place to sit and read.
The atmosphere of this coffee shop is hip/boho. It is a very nice place to get a drink or coffee with friends, but seating can be a bit hard to find. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. I really enjoy their coffee. This place is definitely somewhere I would recommend for a hangout and drinks with friends or to read a book on your own.
Adorable! My iced Americano was delicious! My husband liked his iced mocha - it was the not-too-sweet kind (favorite). Vegetarian/vegan options. The sandwich bread was so, so good. Employees were incredible. The cafe itself is quite cozy & there is outdoor seating. Can't wait to go back.
Friendly staff, eclectic and fun atmosphere, great sandwiches, and affordably-priced drinks. If you’re in the Park area, it’s worth stopping in!
Cafe Sasso is my absolute favorite cafe!! I haven’t vastly explored their drink menu, I’m a coffee and tea guy. Their coffee is fantastic, the green tea is delish and their match lattes are yummy!! I have always had fantastic service here, warm greetings and plenty of smiles. The atmosphere is eccentric and I love it! So much art to look at, an array of seating….just such a cozy spot that will always be at the top of my list ☕️💙
The place is beautiful. Great atmosphere; the ambience was peaceful and relaxing. The girls behind the counter were so sweet and friendly. And my pumpkin spice latte delicious. One thing I look for is the health of the plants, if there are any. This tells me whether someone really cares or not. Their plants were some of the happiest (and biggest) I’ve seen. Cool collection of art for sale on the walls too. Definitely recommend.
Great family owned business that's very welcoming. The staff is friendly, food and drinks are tasty, and prices are cheaper than the big chains. Parking out front is generally easy for a quick morning stop and they are also a great spot for an evening cocktail.
I worked with Jessica to get more of my favorite coffee beans from them and there was a little bit of a mix up. She went above and beyond to fix it and provided me with extra that wasn’t even necessary. I love this places coffee and service 💗
My wife and I stopped in for "dessert drinks" after dinner up the street and were really happy with everyone and everything in this little cafe. The staff was friendly, the drinks were tasty, and the atmosphere was cozy. We loved looking at every square inch of art on the walls. We'll be back
This is gorgeous cafe. The walls are COVERED in art. The food was good and the coffee was strong. They serve alcoholic coffee drinks as well.
Our go-to coffee shop! We come here twice a week and absolutely love everything about it. The breakfast sandwiches are amazing, the coffee is great, we love the different flavor specials. All around such a good atmosphere and wonderful people working here.
Great coffee selection and specialty drinks, as well as delicious treats. The atmosphere is wonderful, and there is a great selection of artwork throughout the café. Very friendly neighborhood place to either come inside and stay, whether alone or with a friend, or pop in and grab a drink to go and take a walk! It’s a local’s favorite 😊
I love this place for several reasons: First is the atmosphere! I love all the art on the walls, so much to look at. Always busy with an ecclectic demographic, a little bit of everybody! Second, the food. They have a couple GF options for pastries from Red Fern, delicious, reasonably priced sandwiches, tasty muffins and cookies. Third is the staff. Never had a bad experience here. Everybody always treats me like a friend, they're warm and inviting. Fourth: the drinks! Always delicious, sometimes I get a brewed coffee, occasionally a latte, or my favorite is the hot vanilla chai with oat milk. There's seating inside but it's frequently busy, although there seems to be enough turnover that I can usually grab a seat somewhere, especially outside when weather's nice. There's a lot of haven't explored on their menu, I'm a creature of habit and stick to the same things, but lots of drinks and concoctions to try! Only drawback (maybe?) is no wifi, but it's so busy there it keeps the turnover high so it's good when you're trying to eat and chat with a friend.
I cannot recommend this place higher. The coffee was great, my smoothie was great, I got a compliment on my outfit (trying to be partial here) staff were very friendly and someone was making sure the staff had water as well. I unfortunately wasn't able to try their food or alcoholic beverages, but I will absolutely be back. The line out the door was well deserved.
Despite being pretty continuously busy, especially during peak hours, their turn around time (on both drinks and food) has been fast in my experience. It's honestly impressive. And there's not a lack of quality for it either. The space is nice, and there's a decent amount of seating, though things are a bit snug, but it lends to a coziness. There's a decent selection of breakfast and lunch sandwiches as well as bakery items, and of course a full drink menu that even includes cocktails. It's becoming my new favorite spot 😊
Very cool little coffee shop with awesome art on the walls. Has a cozy feel to it.. a homey hipster feel if you will. Outdoor seating is great as well. Their food and drink selection is pretty big! Not only that but anything that I have gotten has been delicious! Great breakfast spot. BEC on a bagel is fantastic. I highly suggest Cafe Sasso! Oh and lastly but not least the staff members are always friendly and treat you with respect!! Addition: I love coming to this place. Upon entering you just become less stressed.. the smooth music playing calms you. The staff, as always, are great. A gem in the Park Ave neighborhood.
Such an amazing lunch spot in rochester! I highly recommend! The owner and staff are simply the sweetest around! Everyone needs to check out this spot! :)
It's an excellent place to find gluten free options
It's the best coffee spot in town. Wide variety of drinks spirits included. Food is also great, and pastries I believe are sourced from Cheesy Eddie's, which speaks for itself. The atmosphere is nice. Love sitting down to enjoy my espresso and muffin.
A large group of us came here. There is a lot of place to sit. The sandwiches and drinks were great, the vibes and decor is quite nice. Fairly reasonably priced! Some of the hot drinks were just warm though but tasted good. Also good options for decaf coffee!
I recently moved to the neighborhood and was feeling pretty anxious and alone. I got an iced coffee here and sat down by the window. The ambiance was relaxing and I let myself get lost in people watching. Also, the bathroom is nice and they don't gatekeep it like people don't have bladders or bowels. I even took a picture of the bathroom.
Sasso is hands down my favorite cafe in Rochester. Super friendly staff, amazing ambiance and art, and the coffee is always great it’s my go to cozy spot!
Girls are so nice behind the counter and know everyone. No public wifi but cafe drinks and bfast/lunch was great. Nice homey place to hangout.
Such an eclectic, cool, beautiful cafe! Art covering every inch of wall and the lighting make it all the more aesthetic! Great coffee, great prices, hot and cold cocktails available. Filled with friendly staff. Open early morning to late at night and a perfect place for an intimate hang with friends. True Rochester vibes!
A nice coffee shop that with the atmosphere and energy makes you feel like you’re in a much larger and busier city. And yet somehow they still manage to put the care and effort into both their drink and food combos, as well as the service
This place is really neat inside really good vibe. I had a warmed croissant and it was delicious. Also there coffee selection Is great I will be back here fore sure.
Food is pretty awesome, its not reinvented just they standards solid quality and comforting. Service is great friendly staff, smaller shop leads to congestion during busy times but worth the wait. They do serve some cocktails and beer nice little date night stop.
Super artsy fun vibe! The ladies at the counter were killing it on a busy Sunday when I visited. I got a breakfast sandwich that had avocado on it and it was delicious! I appreciated that even though I got it on ciabatta bread, they cut it in half ❤️ It’s the little things in life that delight me.
Hi I’m Shely today me and my husband were looking for q café walked in into this establishment. No knowing what to expect we don’t know much about coffee, we just wanna a nice little place to sit and not only did this place meet our expectations but the girls at the desk were so lovely and art in this place is amazing and the vibes is awesome. Thank you guys I’ll recommend this place to anybody!!!! I’ll be back soon!!!
A Rochester staple. They have the best vibes, great baristas, great drinks - both coffee and otherwise, simple but good food too. They have cocktails for later in the day that are very tasty and tons of coffee options, my personal favorite is the rotating coffee flavors or the Honeybear. For food I think I've had the Rocketman on Ciabatta more times than I can count, but I also love a simple bagel toasted with tomato slices on top. Go in here enough and they will remember your name, just great people.
Cafe Sasso has the best chai and the best breakfast sandwiches in the area. Better yet, this Park Ave shop fosters a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for our community. The staff is dependably friendly, displaying a genuine interest in serving positivity. I consistently feel appreciated as a customer and recommend Cafe Sasso to anyone who will listen.
One of best coffee shops I been too. Let’s go Atmosphere: The artwork creates an amalgamation of emotions and ideas. The fresh flowers in the open window add to the chill environment. Courageously, the restroom is a scarlet Photo Booth. The lighting is perfect in every corner. Service: The service is top tier. I feel like I’m ordering from friend. Food: amazing pasties! I love the chocolate croissants! The chai with both vanilla and spice is elegantly flavorful This place is a fine arts museum in a cup.
A cute coffee shop with quirky wall art. They have a good variety of food to choose from (we both got the BLT with egg and yogurt parfaits), and when we specified a gluten allergy, they offered to clean the griddle to reduce any cross contamination. It wasn't necessary for our needs, but it was thoughtful of them to offer despite how busy they were. The lattes were delicious, and the staff was very friendly and patient while we placed our order.
Cafe Sasso is a fantastic spot with great coffee, amazing food, and a beautiful interior featuring an artistic atmosphere. They also offer a wide collection of drinks, and their Italian sodas are a must-try. Whether you're there for a caffeine fix, a meal, or a unique beverage, the ambiance and quality make it a standout choice.
Met a colleague there for a quick meeting. Lots of outdoor seating, inside is airy, and moderate seating. Pretty large menu and drinks, plenty of staff, parking could be an issue. Must be a good place as law enforcement was continually coming and going and a fire truck stopped by for coffee too.
Would definitely return to this place. The staff is very kind and considerate. There is a nice selection for food and drinks as well as baked goods. The Honey Bear drink is outstanding as well as the sandwiches, ( the rocket man, and a club supreme) the panini press grill marks on our sandwiches took them to another level of delightful flavor.
Very good stuff here, lattes are good, the espresso is fantastic. Service is fine and the atmosphere is chill. A lot going on atmospherically.
Loved the ambiance and the atmosphere but didn't actually get a chance to try their coffee plain. I'll have to come back and visit to give my opinion on that. Their cocktails are interesting but I think I'm a sucker for plain straight up coffee. Also, I know some people are sticklers for public bathroom, there's is relatively clean.
This is the only coffee shop. Staff and coustomers all part of the charm. Unique food items. Best people watching on this part of the planet.
What a pleasant spot to catch up with friends, or read a book alone. The music is calming yet catchy. Service staff is friendly. Coffee was delicious, I had the lavender latte hot. My only gripe is it says "fountain soda" on the menu, which I ordered after I finished my coffee and was hanging out and reading. The "fountain soda" was poured out of a 20oz bottle... Maybe it should say "soda?" tasted a little flat without that familiar fizz I love Disclaimer: I'm a coca cola snob so this stuck out.
Cafe Sasso is a such a hidden gem in Rochester! This was my go-to cafe for a long time when I lived in the city. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it is usually BUSY. Which is great for business, but less ideal for customers. It can be difficult to find seating during the busiest hours, especially on weekends. The drinks are tasty and it's always fun to try out a coffee cocktail as well. It's an equally great place to go out on a date or find a quiet study nook to get some work done (when it's not at its busiest). The food is decent but not the shining point of this establishment. That being said, the Zesty Zappa is a Saturday morning breakfast staple for me. My favorite thing about this place is the atmosphere! Local artists have their work displayed on the walls from floor to ceiling which creates a very cozy and welcoming space.
I feel like it's insane that they don't have wifi! I love going to cafe's to study and get work done and you definitely can't do that here. But get a book or a friend to chat with and you're good. The atmosphere and decor is lovely and the staff is super friendly. I would go here again to catch up with a friend or a coffee date.
Great local spot for coffee. The sandos suck and take awhile to come out for some reason. I will only come back for the coffee next time.
While parking is not the best, their coffee, decor, atmosphere, food, etc is. At the same time, i don’t come here for great parking, but to get a cup of coffee, something sweet, take a walk down Park Avenue and enjoy the style of the area! Sit inside or get a table outside, enjoy your company and a cup of coffee in your hand.
This place is really cool with a nice cafe vibe and stylish furniture in a carefully designed seating area. The customer service was excellent, even though I went through an entire cup of caramel latte before my sandwich was ready. I asked for a refill since the coffee was so good. They grind the coffee right in front of you, and overall, it was a fantastic experience. Reasonably priced coffee and baked goods. However, I paid $8 for a turkey, egg, and cheese sandwich that could use more protein. The French toast muffin was excellent and heated with butter. Four stars because the no WiFi and poor regular network reception. It would be a great place to sit down and actually talk to someone without screens, but still, don't force it. People still need to do work. 😅😅😭😭🤲😎 10/10 recommend otherwise.
Very cute and hip coffee shop. Tons of fun coffee/cocktail options and ample seating. Their matcha latte is particularly good— not too sweet if you order it without the vanilla sweetener. It has a slight floral taste to it which is lovely! I’m giving a 4 star review because the cafe does not have wifi.
I love coming here and the vanilla chai is my favorite but I so wish they would provide WiFi again. It used to be a favorite spot of mine to study for an hour or two every once in a while. But they stopped providing public WiFi in the middle of the pandemic and never reinstated it.
Made a quick stop here for a cappuccino this past Sunday, but was quite disappointed when I got it. The milk foam was just a blob on top of the espresso so it wasn’t incorporated in properly. Went here because the pictures from other reviews look good. Other than that, nice art work all around.
EDIT: instead of insulting your customers with your response, it would be a better idea to offer to make the situation better. Won’t be back. The worst iced latte I’ve had at any local coffee shop. I then ordered two shots of espresso to add to this to make it better and the espresso tasted terrible too. The only thing saving this place is the atmosphere. I’d rather take a cup of diner coffee
Overpriced, crowded, and no room to sit. There are definitely better cafés in Rochester.
UPDATE: Cafe Sasso kindly took my feedback to address the quality of the beverage immediately. Great service and looking forward to going back to give the spot a second try! Thank you for your great customer service! Honestly, I'm disappointed. I was so excited to try the coffee here due to its ambiance and great reviews. I ordered an ice vanilla latte and it was extremely watery and bland. I could barely taste the espresso or the flavor. My friend's coffee was also very watered down. I'm not sure if it was just a bad day for them, but I'm so disappointed that I spent $5.50 on a cup of water. I had high hopes for this place but I don't think I'd come back for coffee.
I hate to do this because I think sasso is a great place but I really don’t think I like their sandwiches anymore. I recently got a gluten free voodoo child and the chicken in it is so long that when you try to take a bite its falling apart and I feel like im choking on it. Ive gotten this sandwich for years and this change occurred in the last year/year and a half. Its always very unpleasant to eat now. Its such a simple fix, just cut the chicken up. It also didn’t help that there was a crowd of people behind me while I tried to eat this sandwich. Overall I just feel like these sandwiches could be better and Im disappointed by this and hopefully cafe sasso will start cutting up the chicken.
I have been here 7 times and always have to budget at least 20, sometimes 30, minutes to get my order. Even if it’s just two beverages with barely anyone else waiting. I always unfortunately regret coming here — I just wish it was better for how well decorated it is. This bagel with cream cheese I got over the weekend — which took 25 mins — really took the cake though. This is with me freshly opening it. The cream cheese doesn’t even attempt to cover the surface. It’s ridiculously skimpy for no reason. My matcha latte was also extremely pale and completely beige, barely a teaspoon of matcha mix was added which is ridiculous for a nearly $6 drink. I’m not sure if they’re struggling, but being stingy with the customer is not the right strategy.
I recently visited Café Sasso with my daughter for a cup of coffee, and unfortunately, the experience was far from enjoyable. The décor is beautiful, which initially got me excited, especially to see the design on my fancy, overpriced latte. However, as you can see in the picture, the latte art was a complete joke—a 5-year-old could have done a better job. On top of that, this is definitely not the place to relax on your phone or laptop. There’s a sign at the entrance clearly stating that there’s no public WiFi, which feels outdated and unwelcoming in today’s world. The worst part, though, was the customer service. Not even a simple “hello” when I walked in. Instead, the staff stood there impatiently, looking irritated as I tried to navigate the menu on the wall. Their attitude came across as, “You should be happy I’m serving you,” which made the entire experience uncomfortable. There are plenty of other coffee shops in Rochester where you can enjoy quality drinks and be treated like royalty. I wouldn’t recommend Café Sasso to anyone—it’s overpriced, overrated, and lacking in the customer service department.
