The atmosphere is beautiful inside this restaurant. Our server was great and his recommendations were on point. I ordered the pork chop and it was absolutely fantastic. My great aunt ordered the lamb chop and she was raving about it. My wife ordered the scallops with grapefruit would seem to be an odd pairing but ended up being amazing. One of the best meals I've had in many states. I would highly recommend this spot. We loved that they also sold local wines from the Finger lakes
We had such a great first experience at Chortke and are already looking forward to going back. The space feels warm and inviting with a really comfortable, welcoming vibe. The Persian-inspired dishes were incredible. They had so much flavor, were beautifully prepared, and clearly made with care. Everything we tried was memorable. Nadia, our waitress, was wonderful; she was friendly, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful. She made the whole night even better. Highly recommended!
My fiancé and I enjoyed a special evening here and it was absolutely wonderful! A night we will never forget…. Our server Daniel, made us feel very welcomed and comfortable. He helped us pick some amazing dishes from the menu to enjoy. The owner, Yasha, made a point to come over and check in with us after our meal to see how we liked it. We shared how wonderful it was and then he asked us about dessert… We told him we didn’t order dessert and he insisted we have one… on the house! The dessert was INSANE. I’ve never tasted anything like it before! I’m so grateful for the beautiful night filled with amazing foods and memories that Chortke gave my fiancé and I :))) We will definitely be back!
My husband and I enjoyed our Valentine's dinner at Chortke this year. Every dish was incredible and the service was impeccable. Natasha was our server and the owner/chef came to chat at the end of our meal. The crab cake was one of the best I've had in Rochester and my scallop dish was perfection. My husband had the lamb shank and it was falling off the bone. We loved the signature dessert, it was very unique. We will be back!
We had such an amazing experience this evening. The staff was incredible, our server Dan was outstanding, Yasha the owner stopped by to say thanks to us and the food was unbelievable. The attention to detail, food presentation and depth of flavor was spot on. It is phenomenal. Highly recommend this place for a special occasion or for those die hard foodies.
Had a parents night out and chose Chortke and it did not disappoint. We did not have a resorvation but we did show up around 5:30 and we were seated without problem. Our waitress, Natasha was absolutely wonderful. She made great recommendations and was very attentive. Everything was delicious and we will defiantly return. Side note to parents: I noticed a baby changing station in the ladies room and I asked and they do have high chairs. They are not a family restaurant for say but if you have a well behaved kiddo and dine early, I don’t think you would have a problem bringing your little! ( these are my opinions as a parent)
Oh. My. Goodness! What a wonderful place! The food was AMAZING, and our server was so kind and attentive! Thank you Daniel and compliments to the chefs for such a excellent experience! :)
One of the best meals I’ve ever had. We started with the octopus appetizer, then had the scallops and duck confit for dinner, with basmati rice and Brussels sprouts on the side. Everything was absolutely delicious. The Persian flavors were there, subtle, but not overpowering. Our server, Daniel, was lovely, and all of the staff were kind and welcoming. I also really liked the atmosphere and décor... unique and stylish without feeling over-the-top. The price point is a bit higher than a casual night out, but it felt completely fair for the quality and experience. If I had one small wish, it would be for the octopus appetizer to include two tentacles instead of just one.
We have been returning regularly to Chortke since the time friends invited us. We love the food. It’s always an holiday for our taste buds! Yhe atmosphere and service is also wonderful so we keep coming back for more! We’ve taken many of our foodie friends and they love it too. We’ll be sure to keep returning for the amazing food and experience.
We visited Chortke for the first time when it was a take-out place just after Covid. The food was outstanding then, so we decided to try it now that they have re-branded and gone to fine-dining. We were not disappointed. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and the owner and waited just a few minutes while they prepared just the perfect place for our party of 5 to feel cozy and comfortable. Our waiter was incredibly attentive and had the perfect suggestions for us. Every single dish we got was beautifully presented and had incredible bursts of flavor. The lamb was falling-apart tender, the scallops were perfectly done, and my vegetarian eggplant steak was delicious! We finished off our dinner with the Kadaifi dessert - DO NOT leave without having this!!! The entire experience was so impressive - I am still talking about our visit. We will most definitely be back!
Atmosphere? 100%. Decor? 100%. Ambiance? 100%. Customer service? 100000%. I’m still sitting at the restaurant, could not wait to write this review. The food was phenomenal. Daniel, our server was so awesome. He provided great recommendations. We had the Spanish octopus to start: 9.5/10. We had the lamb shank 1000/10 and pork chop 100/10, with a side of Brussels sprouts 100000/10. For dessert we had toasted Kataifi and omg 1000/10. I’m not even exaggerating. Everything was great. The owner came to greet us as we came from NJ. It was amazing. I’d come back in a heartbeat. And PS: The saffron syrup in the dessert is imported…CHEFS KISS!!
If you want a spectacular evening out, Chortke is the restaurant you should try. I have been there on two occasions and the moment you walk through the door, you know that this is going to be an wonderful evening out. The staff and the environment is very welcoming. The food is carefully prepared with attention to presentation and taste. Everything is freshly prepared and served in a timely manner not to rush you through your meal. I tried different dishes each time and blending of taste and sauces were unique and very satisfying. And if you save room for dessert, you will not be disappointed by any of the choices. The staff at Chortke are the most welcoming that I have ever experienced. They are enthusiastic and happy you are there. Chortke is a hidden gem in the Memorial Art Gallery area and parking is not an issue.
The atmosphere put you in another world. The staff are knowledgeable and genuinely nice people. And the food… oh man, it’s so good. Each dish has complex flavors. Novel ingredients that you wouldn’t think work together are a flavor ride you won’t forget. Like who would put grapefruit sections as a garnish for scallops? A genius, that’s who. And mint and pomegranate pips with Brussels sprouts. Brilliant. Each bite deserves stopping and savoring. Our favorites, besides the Brussels sprouts and scallops, are the lamb lollipops, and the flavor popping date salad. This place is sooo good. Get a reservation early in the week because Saturday nights are usually fully booked.
I have to say, I'm very impressed! My friend and I visited Chortke this evening and we both agreed we have to come back soon! The atmosphere was very calming and laid back. The tables are spread out, too, so it doesn't feel cramped even if they're busy. Staff was super friendly! Our server, Ashley, was so sweet and attentive. As for the food, we loved it and both agreed the dessert (chocolate mousse) was our favorite. Definitely recommend checking out this hidden ROC gem :)
Incredible food, atmosphere, and service. We can’t find a single thing we didn’t like and will be back again many times. You MUST try the octopus and lab shank. Every bite is just so flavorful and well crafted. This is the best restaurant I’ve been to in Rochester and the best restaurant I’ve been to anywhere in years. Our server Daniel was incredible and really added to the experience, he was extremely personable and knowledgeable. Can’t wait to come back here.
Wow, what a tasty experience! They have a nice selection of beer and wine, but no spirits. Located on the east side of the Village Gate complex there is plenty of parking in the well lit lot. The interior is a bit larger than I expected and has a very airy, almost Mediterranean feel. Our server was very attentive and and knew the menu well. We ordered some starters and a bottle of Bourgogne Aligote. Lamb lollipops, mushrooms with hummus and some crispy naan. We were in heaven. I really wanted to try their tomahawk, but they only had boneless ribeye, which I've had recently. So I opted for the pork chop with a side of rice. This pork chop was cooked perfectly and had a tangy chili flake seasoning with subtle heat and deep flavor. Check out Chortke today!
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Rochester in years. The service was impeccable and our server was so wonderful (thanks Amber!). The food was so special and delicious. So many dishes blew us away. And the atmosphere was the perfect mix of upscale resort/vacation vibes with organic touches and a cozy feel. Loved the lighting and the ambience, nice background music that wasn’t blaring so you could actually have a conversation. Can’t wait to go back.
I don't know what to say. Everything was just perfectly cooked. We ordered the 40 Oz tomahawk steak. Maine scallops with fingerling potatoes and Brussels sprouts. As an appetizers we had the lamb lollipops wild mushrooms and beetroot salad. It was so good I forgot to take pictures. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for special occasions or a family meal.
The best Mediterranean meal I’ve ever had! Chortke in Tochester completely exceeded my expectations — every dish was bursting with authentic flavor, freshness, and care. From the first bite to the last, you can tell the team here truly loves what they do. Toronto needs this place— refined, warm, and absolutely delicious. Can’t wait to come back and bring friends!
First time I went I was super confused why I hadn’t heard of this place before. Some of the best food I’ve ever had in my life, no exaggeration needed. If you want something different than typical Rochester food with still a familiar feel and something elevated, this is your place. The atmosphere is gorgeous after their remodel and the staff are all very attentive and well-versed in their elevated menu. I highly suggest coming with a big group so you can try everything! First time I went I would’ve said you don’t need a reservation because the place was practically empty (which I was very confused about come half-way through our meal because it was SO GOOD) but just went last week and we barely got in. So happy to see it’s getting the attention it deserves!! Favorite dishes: Shredded braised lamb fingerling potatoes Brussel sprouts Duck risotto Kataifi dessert
I couldn’t even wait to leave here before sharing a review! This corner table is amazing with the pillows! Natalia and Kelsey kudos for the amazing service! Pictured: Steak Skewer; Kurobuta Pork Chop; Persian Dill Rice! All of which I would get again, beyond delicious! Dessert coming because they had me at edible rose pedals!! If you haven’t been here yet, treat yourself, the atmosphere/vibe is phenomenal, must experience! Cheers!
Everything here was incredible, and I can’t recommend Chortke highly enough! When you walk in, it’s so beautiful and welcoming. The ambience is artful. Our server, Kenny, took so much time helping us decide on what to eat and even offered to surprise us when we were stuck. Every thing we tried was amazing, and we are foodies so not the easiest to wow. At the end, the owner came to chat with us. He was warm and inspired and let us know some of his plans for new menu items, thanked us profusely for coming in. We were just looking for dinner and left feeling so happy and satisfied with an entire experience.
WOW! From start to finish this dining experience was immaculate! The decor is warm and inviting yet luxurious. The attention to detail is truly remarkable (there are tassels on the menu!) I came here on a Thursday night, parking is ample and although our party of four had reservations, they seemed to be able to accommodate large parties with the seating arrangement set up. Our server Jenna C was incredibly sweet and offered help with ordering. Our food was DELIGHTFUL. the plating was beautiful and dishes were robust in flavor. The owner, Yasha made a point to bring us our food and ensure we were pleased with our meals. It means (and says a lot) when owners and servers are equally proud and accommodating! Bravo to everyone who works here! What a lovely, relaxing and genuine experience!
Unique food that combines elements of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean. Contemporary. Difficult to put in one category. octopus was tender, although not very warm. All the appetizers were on point. scallops were delicious but four for $44. didn’t get the lamb shank however I’ve heard it’s one of the better items. The sauces and paired flavors that were in every dish were absolutely delicious. Brussels sprouts were fantastic. There is nothing wrong with anything that we received. The foie gras melts in your mouth. The octopus was tender but lacked its own flavor so make sure you use the how do you use the harissa sauce in every bite. Bonnie and Clyde’s octopus was still better. Brussels sprout flavor was unique and so much better than what we’ve had in the past. I’ve been told the pork chop and lamb shank and scallops are the best items. Daniel, the waiter was extremely knowledgeable and very passionate about talking about the food. Everyone is super friendly and the decor is unique. We would go back. It is not the most quiet atmosphere nor the most romantic. The atmosphere was more casual than expected.
