The images below highlight a few standout dishes from several of our visits, including the pork belly, steak tartar, Beef Wellington, and a beautifully presented pastry dessert. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared by Chef Gabe, with excellent flavor, balance, and presentation. They’re also probably the only place in SA serving a true German Bitburger (est. 1817) on draft, which is a real standout. Overall, it’s a wonderful place to unwind, with a warm and welcoming team. Special thanks to managers Reed and Rudy for the exceptional hospitality!
Everyone is friendly, courteous, and kind! The food is always delicious. All the servers are excellent but if you are there on a night that Mainina is serving ask for her you will not regret the five star service you will receive. Posted for the Lion and Rose at the Dominion.
Came here for my birthday. Fantastic food, beer selection, and pricing. The Scotch Egg was like heaven. I ordered the Tour of Britain. Very happy with everything. Our server Vivian made the afternoon fantastic.
Cozy place, minimal crowd, live music, plenty tvs, lots of parking spaces, great service and good food. A friend of mine recommended the place and I'm glad we stopped in.
There is simply no better place to begin a James Bond event than at a proper British pub, and The Lion & Rose Restaurant & Pub (Dominion) delivered flawlessly for our James Bond Club of the Dominion pre-event on Sunday, February 22 at 3:00 PM. Before our private screening of Casino Royale (20th Anniversary) at the Palladium at The Rim, we gathered 30 sharply dressed 007 enthusiasts for food, drinks, camaraderie, and trivia, and the experience exceeded expectations at every level. A special thank you to General Manager Reed Miller for his outstanding leadership and hospitality. From the moment we arrived, his professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail made our club feel welcomed and valued. The coordination was seamless, the atmosphere authentically British, and the service simply exceptional. The food and drinks were excellent, but what truly elevated the afternoon was the simply superb service from the entire supporting staff. They handled a group of 30 with ease, efficiency, and genuine enthusiasm. We were also grateful for Mr. Miller’s introduction of Chris Coffland of Brain Brew Games, who provided engaging and energetic James Bond Trivia throughout the event. It was the perfect intellectual warm-up before our cinematic mission began. For a club dedicated to the spirit of James Bond, British sophistication, camaraderie, and style, The Lion & Rose (Dominion) proved to be the ideal headquarters. We look forward to returning. The James Bond Club of the Dominion
We had fish & chips, the tour of Britain sampler, calamari as an appetizer and a couple of drinks. All was very good, but the shepherd’s pie was a bit heavy on cumin (I think that’s what it was), so I wasn’t crazy about that. Drinks and service also very good. Roberto was our server - very friendly and attentive!
Third time is the charm. Been here a few times since opening but this most recent visit impressed us so much. Food was leagues above what we had experienced from Lion & Rose in the past, to include all the now closed locations. As plates were being served you could see everyone in the restaurant look at what others had ordered, it all looked that good. Whatever changes where made in the kitchen, massive kudos. Of course, service and the live music was excellent as always.
Went here again tonight and enjoyed a Guinness. Atmosphere is fun and the service was excellent. Great service, great atmosphere, and great beer selection. Only thing is I finally get it… Brits are not known for their food. The food is really bad. It’s been an ongoing joke for decades. I kept trying the soup (horrible) and I had the cottage pie (horrible) tried a sandwich (not great) and then I realized…. Come here for beer, watch games, meet friends and stick with the fish and chips! Do that and you’ll love it. I’ll be back.
This place was phenomenal. It's been on my 'restaurants to try' list and we will definitely be back. The food was fantastic. The service was top notch. And the venue was clean and well decorated. What I don't understand, is why there weren't many people in there. This would be a great spot for groups of people to have get-togethers or an after hours social event. I'll be spreading the word. We'll definitely be back.
First time eating there was this past week. We tried the Tuesday BOGO (buy one get one) special and thought it would be a great way to get introduced to the place. Wow, the service was really superb, the food was awesome and the BOGO special made it even better. We had the pork schnitzel (best ever) and the chicken picatta. After this experience, we can't wait to go back again, espeicially for any sporting events. Great food, lots of choices, great service. You can't go wrong!
Wonderful service, friendly staff and great menu. Food is excellent and reasonable priced. Lots of fun and atmosphere. Best happy hour around, lots of specials and appetizers at reduced prices plus discounts on great craft beers on tap. The food is outstanding, hit and quickly served. Nice portions- Recap: great food, great service, great selection of craft and domestic beer, great prices! Go check them out!!!!
We came after 2pm with a might hankering for delicious food. Joshua, was our amazing and outstanding waiter. He was very well versed in all the offerings on the menu plus the specials. We started out with Soup of the Day Broccoli Cheese and Fried Mushrooms…yummy was in each bite and spoonful. Entrees were Pork Schnitzel and Cottage Pie…OMGOSH SO DELICIOUS. And Decadant Dessarts of Kings Bread Pudding and Crème Brûlée Cheesecake (I wanted to lick the plate but it’s served on a sizzling cast iron skillet 😋😝). Sooooo…yes we will be back in the future. Maybe try a few Mocktales, too‼️
The food was great and I loved the atmosphere but the best part of the experience was the bartender, Princess. She truly brings the experience here to life. Amazing service, incredible mixologist and a personality that could bring a joyful smile even to the Grinch! I can't say enough good things about how wonderful she was. Thank you again Princess! We'll be back to see you again soon :D!!
Amazing food, atmosphere and service! Our waitress Angelica was not only prompt, attentive but also gave us amazing suggestions that brought us out of our comfort zone to try! Everything she suggested was even better than we imagined! We will definitely be back! Perfect TV locations with extra large TV’s to watch games & any sports on throughout the whole restaurant, not just at the bar. A must try!!!! We will be back soon!!!
The calamari appetizer was good. Kids enjoyed playing the provided connect 4 while having their lunch - chicken tenders and grilled cheese sandwich. The tour of Britain was a good meal - fish and chips were a delight. The pork schnitzel was delicious. Our server, Teddy, provided great service. Thank you.
My daughter and I thought we would check out the new location of The Lion & The Rose and I’m so glad we did. Our experience was top drawer, absolutely excellent. Loved the atmosphere! The restaurant was bustling with happy people and our server, Amy was very attentive. She provided us with great service! And Rudy must’ve been a top manager. We observed that he was very hands on and jumped in to help wherever help was needed. The food was delicious and the cocktails were delicious too. Try the Scottish Eggs because they were yummy! 😋 We will definitely be repeat customers. We left feeling really happy that we decided to go there. I give the restaurant 5 stars for cleanliness, delicious food, atmosphere & friendly service.😃
We went to the new location this evening. It is beautiful and the atmosphere was really great. We sat in the bar area and were served by Amy. She was amazing and she has such a great personality and attitude. We really enjoyed her being our server. We also took a look around the rest of the restaurant and everything was really nice. Also there was a private party going on in a separate closed off room and they sounded like they were having a great time in there, although we didn’t get to see in the room, it’s nice to know they have a room dedicated to private parties. For future planning. The food was delicious. The trio plate (I don’t remember the name) my mom got was delicious. The scotch eggs (the main reason we came) were SO good! We love them. I had the schnitzel plate and subbed veggies for cabbage and the cabbage was so yummy, the schnitzel and potatoes were good too but needed a little seasoning. Overall amazing experience. Also would like to note that the manager Rudy was working very hard as well and we appreciate to see a good manager helping his team. We will 100% be back. Oh and the drinks were delicious as well! The blackberry mule and the lemonade drink my mom had. 10/10.
We just happened to stop by on a whim while visiting from out of town for a work trip. Our party of 3 had an amazing time! The food was amazing. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, Reuben, vegetable curry, and lasagna soup. Everything was so delicious, we were stuffed! The entire staff was kind and attentive. We were checked in repeatedly. The place is cute, food was great, literally nothing to complain about on our visit. If I lived closer, I’d be coming more often!
The newly opened restaurant is lovely with a welcoming atmosphere. The service staff are friendly and efficient. We ordered the chicken curry, fish & chips, Diablo chicken bites, steak, and bread pudding — and the bread pudding was definitely the star of the meal. The food was delicious and well‑seasoned, cooked perfectly, though the portions were slightly on the smaller side. If you’re looking to branch out beyond the classic fish & chips, I highly recommend the chicken curry for something new and exciting. We were there to discuss watch parties and monthly events, and we plan to return every month. Their marketing director, Melanie, even created a signature drink just for our Texas A&M Club’s monthly event — such a thoughtful and fun touch!
Loved this place!! didn't recognize this at first, but Stephanie and Steven were taking care of me in the bar, so from now on it will be easy to remember. I stayed a while. I had the Beer Battered Mushrooms, and Croque Madame to eat. I had the King's Cup, the L&R Old fashioned and one of my old favourites, black and tan. A Half-and-Half to be more specific. Half Harp, half Guinness. A little pricey but worth it if you love that life. I do. I shall return.
The staff was very friendly and the service was good overall. The restaurant is nice, beautiful, and very spacious, with plenty of parking available. The atmosphere feels authentic and truly reflects British culture. I gave it 4 stars only because, personally, I didn’t enjoy the menu since that style of food is not my preference. There’s nothing that needs improvement — this is simply my personal opinion and taste.
It tends to give one pause when pulling into a restaurant parking lot and there are maybe one or two cars. One is likely to think the place is closed or worse, the food is awful and diners are staying away in droves. We had called ahead and knew that they were open . . . Inside the entry door one instantly felt a little British surrounded by dark hardwood wainscoating, copper coffered ceilings, black leather upholstered bench seating, beautiful hardwood, mirrored long bar, soccer and rugby on the numerous overhead teleys, and boppy Britpop music to complete the UK aura. Feeling an eerieness in this vacuum cum pub, I began to listen for a voice-over introduction from Rod Serling as my wife and I were 2 of only 5 customers in the whole restaurant. Rather strange! We had waited for the dust to settle to visit after the recent opening in order to avoid the crowd, but this . . . ? Our pleated, plaid skirt wearing waitress was friendly as she joked about the dearth of diners and half jokingly said that she was happy we came in so she would have something to do. Fish and chips were why we came and fish and chips it was. A service tray with our order appeared table side in less than 5 minutes; chips or steak taters perfectly done and 2 fish planks each on a triangular, ouija board, planchette shaped plate of that lovely crispy, hot, tempura-like, battered cod. No tartar sauce, but the creamy, mild remoulade sauce, lemon wedge for spritzing, and malt vinegar made me forget it was not available. That fish was brilliant and I ate both filets, oink-oink! No reheat later for these fried beauties. The plate was filling, but mercifully light and satisfying. If I were to attempt to explain the lack of lunch customers we experienced today I might suggest a remote possibility that it has something to do with pricing. Some might opine the meal we had (2 f&c + Cokes) at a shade over $50 is a bridge too far. Others, just peachy. We definitely enjoyed our food and regardless of the reason, hope business picks up for L&R.
Newly opened, beautiful and expansive space; fun photo ops, and delicious pub food! The Cottage Pie IS Gluten Free; the Happy Hour menu has a half dozen tasty appetizer options; there is Trivia Night on Wednesday; Thursday - Saturday there is live music. Can’t say enough good things. … I did knock off service stars because the wait staff is a little on the slow side; but they’re still new, so hopefully that will improve with time. 🥰
We went here early on a Friday night and the place wasn’t busy. We sat outside since it was such a nice night but regretted that quickly. We waited at an outdoor table for over 20 minutes and were getting up to leave as a waitress finally came over to give us menus and water. Then, we had to wait until 30-40 minutes for our meal. We were told it was because there was a large ticket in front of us but as I mentioned, the restaurant was pretty empty. I ordered the fish and chips which was actually really tasty but wasn’t at all worth the wait. Disappointed!
Food was okay. But Schnitzel size is all over the place, we got a small piece of schnitzel and didn't think much of it. Then as we were walking out, we saw another guy with a schnitzel at least twice the size. I understand variations in the sizes of ingredients, but a restaurant should serve a standard amount of food per portion if they charge the same price for it. Picture below.
