This was our first time eating here and we thoroughly enjoyed everything. Great Service: Our waitress Marie was awesome and she did a great job recommending the right dish for my husband and I. Great Food: I had the Panang Curry with tofu was fantastic! My husband ordered the Beef Pad Thai was just as good! We had no wait time as our food came out pretty quickly and it had a beautiful presentation.
1st off, service is great was immediately greeted and acknowledged when walking in period. Fresh Spring rolls are always great but the Thai peanut sauce always makes them better has a nice spice definitely a recommended. appetizer. I've had papaya salad before this one was similar but just a little different, seemed to have a little more sauce/dressing than I'm used to which took away from the papayas flavor. Drunken Noodles are always my favorite and go to entree although rice dishes are great as well. if you like spice get it hot and ask for the extra green peppers on the side Thai hot would be doable but only if you can stand a nice big old heat.
Loved this Thai restaurant! My daughter and I come here often and we love this place! The food is delicious, fresh, and served hot, with great flavor and spice. The staff is very friendly and made us feel welcome. A great spot if you’re craving quality Thai food. Our server was Joy! She’s amazing! And the owner Bass! She’s a sweetheart! 💕💕💕💕
Heard great things and glad I stopped here on the way through. I ordered the crab rangoons which were some of the best I ever had and then the Three Best Friends just to try different flavors, and wow, couldn’t be more happy with that selection. Great service and atmosphere as well. Do not miss this gem!
First carry out order and I was impressed interior was very clean and nice employees. I ordered Pad Thai Beef it was a good proton enough for two. I appreciated that they gave me peanuts and lime in the dish. I also ordered egg rolls which were good as well. I have not had pad Thai in a while and it was good. Many dishes to choose from. Would be returning to this location.
I normally come here for the Thai tea, but when I get their food, it’s always amazing! Especially the curries! Today there was a slight honest mistake with my order which is okay, people are human, it will happen, but the staff and the manager who helped me were the kindest people ever. Truly going above and beyond to remedy the situation. Sadly I’ve moved further away so I can’t go as often, but when I do, some remember me for my love for Thai tea, which speaks to how caring the staff is. I don’t normally leave reviews, but restaurants such as this with phenomenal staff and amazing food truly deserve all the recognition they can get! :)
I recently visited Yum Thai and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and attentive service. The atmosphere is cozy, inviting, and filled with the wonderful aroma of authentic Thai cooking. I started with their fresh Thai salad, and it was absolutely delicious — crisp vegetables, perfectly balanced dressing, and just the right hint of tang and spice. It was light, refreshing, and a great way to kick off the meal. For the main course, I had the Pad Thai, and it was easily one of the best I’ve had in San Antonio. The noodles were cooked perfectly, the sauce was rich and flavorful without being too heavy, and the portion was generous. The combination of textures — tender noodles, crunchy peanuts, and fresh bean sprouts — was spot on. What really impressed me was the consistency and care in the cooking. Every bite felt like it had been prepared with attention to detail. The service was quick, the prices were fair, and the food quality was top notch. If you love Thai food or want to try it for the first time, Yum Thai is a must-visit!
Amazing Thai food and the service is fantastic. Marie was our server and she was so attentive and sweet.. She went over the menu, so we knew what to order which was so helpful.. The Tom Ka soup is so delicious and fresh. The noodles were so tasty and flavorful, we added pork and tofu and it was a perfect addition. And the Thai coffee I had and the iced tea is a must try... highly recommended for delicious Thai food.
I’ve been coming here for years. I’ve tried several dishes and everything I’ve tasted has been great. With the pandemic, they did close dining for an extended period of time. During that time I ordered take-out several times and tried several dishes. This is the best Thai food in San Antonio. The Thai tea is also the best I’ve tasted! My favorite dish is the pad see ew with chicken medium spice. Recently they opened for dining and our dining experience was a bit different from before as it was slightly slower but the owner was kind enough to come to our table and apologize. She also explained all new waiting staff was hired so naturally they were still learning but we felt they waiter was great. She was attentive to refills and asked several times if we needed anything. The food came out fresh as always.
I've only been in Texas for a few weeks and I had yet to find a place I enjoyed. Until I tried Yum Thai! I can't say enough about this Restaurant. Tables were clean and we were greeted with a smile. The table layout was wonderful, spacious and plenty of booths. The ambiance was perfect! Thai tea was extremely sweet, a little too sweet for me but still delicious. Appetizers (summer roll and chicken) came out quick and our waters were never empty. Dinner portions are fair for the price and will certainly leave you full. Overall, 5 dishes and they were top notch. I'll be going back soon if not the next day!!
Only reason it’s not a five star rating is because I wanted more stems than leaves in my dish but that’s not on them, that’s on my personal preference. My mother has been visiting this gem for the last 5 years and just recently have I been joining in on her meals. Small space, cute aesthetic, single restroom, pleasant customer service, great food! and average prices. We had … PAD KA NAR ( STIR-FRIED CHINESE BROCCOLI) I had no protein on my dish but it does come with one. Steamed rice PAD WOON SEN 2x CHICKEN SATAY Side of French fries
Yum Thai Restaurant offers a quaint dining experience that's worth a visit. My my overall experience was positive. The atmosphere of the restaurant is charming, adding to the overall dining ambiance. However, I found the papaya salad to be a bit too salty for my taste, which was a slight disappointment. On the bright side, the sticky rice with mango was an absolute delight! It was perfectly executed, and the combination of flavors was spot on. In fact, it was so good that I would consider returning just for this delectable dessert. Despite the minor setback with the papaya salad, Yum Thai Restaurant earns a solid four stars for its charming atmosphere and standout mango rice dessert. With a few tweaks, it has the potential to become a go-to spot for Thai cuisine enthusiasts like myself.
As mentioned in some reviews, customer service is not the best. They do not know how to prioritize customers and they usually accommodate customers who order take-out regardless who comes first. It was after 2pm, we were just standing by the front door waiting to be seated until another family comes in and a "take-out" customer. The receptionist seated us last even though we were the first ones to arrive, mind you, I was carrying a baby and a toddler. I ordered the chicken pad thai and thought it was so greasy. My children usually love noodles, but they did not like them. I also ordered the cashew shrimp and honestly, it was cooked as if the shrimp, vegetables, and cashews were all just tossed together, nothing special. I also ordered boba teas, avocado and taro flavors. The avocado tasted nothing like avocado, as for the taro, it was too sweet. Lastly, I ordered the popular thai dessert mango on sticky rice with coconut milk. The mango was not sweet/ripe enough. It was bland overall. This place is quite pricey, too. My bill came up to $50, but I believe their servings are good for two people. I dislike my experience and I do not think I will be coming back soon. UPDATE: I thought I would not be coming back to this restaurant after my first visit, but since my husband wanted to try it, I thought I should give it another try. We came 40 minutes before closing time. We ordered boba teas in lychee and honeydew flavors. I would recommend these flavors, they are good! We ordered chicken fried rice for the kids and it was flavorful! My husband ordered (I do not know the name, the waitress recommended it) beef with vegetables, although it looks very simple, it was pretty good like a home cooked meal. I ordered the seafood thai curry, and it was by far the best one I had. We also had a great experience with the customer service that night. She did not wear a name tag, but she has short hair. She is very friendly, knows the menu very well, and constantly checks up on us. Even though they were about to close, she did not make us feel rushed to leave. Our bill was around $50, tip included.
Food was average, nothing exceptional. Our service was okay but the server had too much work to offer better service. Very little options with those with dietary restrictions such as gluten. They made me a dish that didn’t have any sauce and it was okay but in comparison to other thai places in the area I wouldn’t return.
Yumm Thai!!! Decent Thai restaurant and good food. We happen to be in the area and looked up their menu in interest. However, our server rushed on us to place an order. The restaurant closes at 9 pm and we were on the table at 8 pm. So we asked other servers, and she very much comforted us and took good care that we are not rushed. Thanks to her. However, because of this experience, we only ordered Chicken Satay and Drunken Noodles and decided to leave shortly. Otherwise we were planning to order their Green Curry, Pineapple Rice and dessert 😞 Food was good. Chicken Satay was nicely flavored, tender, and soft. Noodles were well cooked tossed in sauces, tomatoes, bell pepper adding that burnt wok flavor. We liked the food but did not enjoy it. We felt undone and incomplete. Though will say the place is nice and welcoming. Food taste is good. Good portion. If you are in the area, do try it.
The food was pretty good. My other dishes and beverages were flavorful. I’m disappointed with the mango sticky rice. I get it consistently. Sometimes it’s too milky or it’s too dry, and mango is not ripe. Flavor was good this time, but I paid $8 for what looks like about $3-4 of food. This is not the first time either.
Update; We've been here a handful of times since my initial review about 2 years ago and most recently, June 22nd for lunch. They were not busy and it still took 10 minutes just to get our drinks. The water tasted nasty and the same nasty water was used to make ice, which made the soft drinks taste nasty. We got egg rolls for an appetizer and they were barely warm and one had a burnt end. The rice dishes were about room temperature and didn't taste very good. The chicken pad Thai was not good. The chicken was dry and over cooked. The dish in general didn't taste all that good. And like two years ago, we were never given dishes, napkins or silverware, so it made eating difficult. We had to ask again for silverware. I believe we are done with this place. We came here for the first time on August 2nd. The food was pretty good, but could have been better. The chicken in the Pad Thai was a little over cooked and dry as was the beef in the other dishes. Flavor wise, everything was pretty good. After our food was given to us we had to wait a couple minutes to get the forks to be able to eat. That should have been given to us during the long wait to get our food. I'm sure we will be back.
We used to go to the Bandera location before it closed and never had a bad experience. This is the first time we ate in at this location and were very underwhelmed from the beginning. Staff ignored us and when they did finally greet us, they didn’t even look in our direction. Apparently they didn’t bother to secure the benches to anything because I accidentally pushed it while trying to get in and out of the seat. They had no clean silverware and brought us plastic that was so flimsy that the fork got all bent up from use. The food itself tasted fine BUT the carrots and potatoes were not fully cooked and as the pictures show, they were enormous. Carrots are at least safe to eat raw but potatoes are more likely to create digestive issues. I asked to speak to the manager and was told that they did not have one.
