San Diego Pot Pie is such a hidden gem. I picked up a to-go order and everything was exactly what you want when you’re craving real comfort food. The chicken noodle soup was hearty, the biscuits were perfect, and the rhubarb pie and chocolate pudding pie were both incredible, not overly sweet either . And the giant cinnamon roll? Absolute must if you’re ordering for a few people. One is plenty for four people and worth every bite. This is the kind of place you go when you want food that feels thoughtful, nostalgic, and genuinely made with care. Highly recommend trying this spot.

Best chicken pot pie around! It's completely unique and top tier, mainly because they do a mix of chicken and turkey. Great gravy and great prices. A real old school comfort location. A lot of great chicken options as well as a great fish and chips. The fried chicken is phenomenal. Some amazing breakfast options too. Dessert pies are better then most in town and are very well priced. If they have their cream pies available, get them! The coconut and banana cream pies are out of this world!

San Diego Chicken Pie Shop is classic comfort food done right. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and tender inside, and the chicken pie was packed with flavor and covered in delicious gravy. The mashed potatoes and veggies tasted fresh and made the whole plate feel like a home-cooked meal. Portions are big, the food comes out hot, and everything feels homemade. It’s one of those spots that gives you that old-school diner vibe — simple, satisfying, and reliable every time. If you’re craving comfort food, this place definitely hits the spot.

This is the second time I have ordered from chicken pie shop I got it through a delivery service I got the Cobb salad and again it was fantastic! They really know what they're doing there! Thank you again for a wonderful lunch and dinner because it was too big for me to eat at one time.

The food was super good, the crispy chicken salad was huge and delicious 😋 the burger was fantastic with perfect toasted bund a crisp huge slice of tomato and red union made the for one super delicious burger. The chicken and waffles were amazing too. Definitely recome if you have a big family or enjoy solo. The prices were crazy especially since the portions were great for what you pay!!

Absolutely delicious. Got the special which came with a pot pie, mashed potatoes, corn, coleslaw, and a slice of pie.Also got a cup of split pea soup while my buddy got this delicious looking burger. Everything tasted great and looked just as good too. Service was fine for the most part though the server cleared my friends plate while it still had some food on it.

Very generous with their servings. The food is very satisfying. The service was excellent. They went above and beyond. I definitely plan on making a return to try some more of their pie. I also appreciated the old-school style of this place. Truly iconic.

Amazing Sam Diego local spot. The chicken pot pie is delicious. Filled with tender chicken and gravy, no veggie fillers. Pie crust is flaky. Their food is always good. Reasonably priced. Weekday specials. They are closed on Mondays. Complete meals with dessert. Not a fancy place, just good food.

The food is very tasty 😋, but the guy who greeted us was a bit rude, as if he wanted us to order drinks quickly. Then a nice waiter took our order, and everything was super fast. The place looks a little old, and the floor was dirty, but despite that, we will definitely be coming back.

Excellent value. We had a pot pie dinner and a chicken fried steak dinner and got out for under $50. Almost unheard of in SD. The chicken rice soup was the star of the show. The pot pie and chicken fried steak were both delicious. The sides of mashed potatoes and corn were good not great. Very good service and convenient parking.

Go on Monday's and kids eat free. *****UPDATE***** So I found out a couple of weeks ago that our beloved chicken pie shop sell CARNITAS pies on Saturdays so of couse I had to try them. OMG they are sooooo friggin' good !!!!! 😁 Went again now comes with large salad on the side instead of mashed potatoes. Even more filling that before. 👍😋

Long standing chicken pot pie joint in San Diego. We ordered and got a hot and ready chosen pot pie. It was fast and easy. Fast food often comes with its pros and cons however. My son and husband both said they thought the food was mediocre. I remember eating their pot pie long before I went vegan. It’s tasty. My mom even came here as a child. Great historical spot to visit and eat, it is one of the oldest restaurants in San Diego after all! Cool decor and I know the crust is made fresh and the chicken is steamed in house.

It breaks my heart giving the Chicken Pie Shop 4 stars, seeing as I’ve gone since I was a kid. But unfortunately the quality hasn’t been the same as of lately. Food either seems overseasoned (too much salt in the potatoes) or underwhelming (coleslaw way too bland). But as I’ve said in NUMEROUS reviews - everybody has an off day and maybe I’ve just been hitting on the off days. Still some of the best chicken, hands down the best chicken pot pies, and the staff are some of the sweetest most welcoming people I’ve ever met. Hoping for my inevitable next visit, they get that 5th star back 🖤

I love the nostalgia of this restaurant since its been there since 1938. I came for the chicken pot pie which I love. The pie itself only contains chicken but you get a side of mashed and vegetables as well. They had corn on the day we went. The beer is cheap at $6.85 a glass, my hubby had a cider which was $6. The kids had Mac n cheese and my husband ordered the fried chicken. We had a side of French fries as well. The fries were good. The kids said the Mac was a 3/10, I didn't try it. My husband did not like the fried chicken, he makes a pretty mean fried chicken himself. The waitress Karen seemed super frazzled and was all over the place. She's a bit older and I felt for her because she seemed like she was the only waitress in the place but lacked in service due to this.

Iconic restaurant in San Diego. Cute restaurant, good service. Food was ok. Chicken soup way too salty, pea soup not flavorful. Chicken pot pie was ok but the gravy wasn't great. Chocolate chip cookie was good. Overall, I would try it once. I will go back because I want to try the carnitas pie!
