This is one of those "hole in the wall" experiences that serves authentic Vietnamese food - the way my Grandma used to make. I come here at least once a week to get my cravings fixed. The food is fresh, hot, fast, and always delicious. My go-to are the Banh Beo, Bun Bo Hue, Banh Nam, and Banh Bot Loc. Service is great and welcoming, and they will remember you if you come a second time. Everything is well-priced, but they are cash only. There is an ATM inside, and a 7-11 around the corner. With that said, I can walk out with a meal, drink, and lunch for tomorrow for under $30.00! It does not have your "typical" Vietnamese fares: pho, goi cuon (spring rolls), etc. However, the dishes served here are those you wouldn't find at normal Vietnamese places! Definitely worth a shot to try something new in the cuisine.
The food is amaIng. If you looking for a perfect vietnamese taste, this is the best. I highly recommend bun bo hue and fried chicken wing. They have a good service to customer too. If i can i will give them 10 star.
Amazing food. Truly one of the best Vietnamese meals I had and I have had plenty. All the noodle soups are amazing. The salad taste fresh and very tasty. One of the hidden gems of Asian food in San Diego!
Very Vietnamese establishment. The wings are no joke very good. Better than Dirty Birds and a reasonable cost. Best wings I've had in a while
Wonderful Vietnamese restaurant with a variety of great options for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We ordered their highly rated bun bo hue noodle soup, bo luc lac and crispy fried chicken wings.
Really love this restaurant... they have all the authentic Hue food here! I love the bun bo hue n the clam with Vietnamese cracker thing... everything tastes exactly how they supposed to... they will be seeing me more often now when I'm in town lol
Absolute hidden gem among the myriad of other Viet restaurants in the city. Known for their Bún Bò Huế, this place has been around for decades now and still one of the best. The food is still quite affordable around $13 a bowl these days. They are also cash only. They provide nice catering sizes as well for many of their dishes which has been a great way to bring some good food for potlucks. Although you will have to bring your own pot for the soup based dishes. The atmosphere is very reminiscent of visiting your old grandma's house. They're always blasting loud Vietnamese music and playing clips of Viet food being prepared on the TV really bringing a nostalgic atmosphere to older times in Vietnam.
Small, cash-only restaurant that serves fantastic vietnamese food. Everything is very good, but they're known for their bun bo hue, which you can also order ahead to bring home (you'll have to bring your own pot). We've often gotten bun bo hue for home here, but they've got a good selection of dishes all for a really reasonable price. The restaurant can get busy so I recommend going earlier in the day.
Bún Riêu is the best I have ever eaten. Chicken Wing too. Love it.
This place is the real thing! All with pasted menu on the walls, grandpa waiter and cash-only ATM located up front. Huge portions, good flavors. Highly recommend.
The food here is incredible! Easily some of the most authentic Vietnamese cuisine you’ll find in town. Unlike the usual phở spots scattered around San Diego, this place introduced me to a whole new side of Vietnamese flavors. Just a heads-up: bring cash! With so many unfamiliar options, it took us a while to decide what to order, but we ended up with two amazing dishes: 🌟#18: Cháo Lòng (Porridge with Pork Tongue & Heart) A rich, flavorful porridge with a thicker consistency, paired with unique cuts of pork offal. Definitely worth trying if you’re feeling adventurous! 🌟#21: Bánh Bột Lọc Lá (Corn Starch Cake with Shrimp & Pork in Banana Leaf) This dish reminded me of a mix between har gao and char siu—delicate yet packed with flavor. Highly recommend checking this place out if you’re ready to explore beyond the usual phở!
We were recommended the bun bo hue and the clams on vermicelli and both were as good as expected. Both were on the spicy end but if you love good Vietnamese food, that's not a bad thing. I especially loved the clams.
Best bun bo hue in San Diego (according to my Vietnamese immigrant father and uncle). I can't disagree! The broth had the right amount of spice level and a great variety of proteins. The beef was amazingly the right blend of tenderness and chewiness. My wife had the bun rieu and she was completely satisfied; there was nothing left in her bowl! If you're in the mood for bun bo hue or bun rieu, come support this authentic local mom & pop shop!
love the fresh food, whenevwer I enjoyed in here, bún bò Huế remains a testament to Vietnam’s rich culinary heritage, offering a satisfying and memorable meal for both locals and visitors alike.

Excellent Bun Bo Hue! The best I've found in San Diego and Orange counties. My wife and I now always get the large Bun Bo Hue, so she can have the leftovers again the next day for lunch. Update: Got two regular Bun Bo Hue. The quality, taste were excellent, and portion size was fair. Service is very fast, so this restaurant is a good choice if you have limited time for your meal. Please remember that they accept CASH ONLY. Prices have increased about 20%, but the quality and portions remain the same. Update: Got two large Bun Bo Hue bowls. They were excellent as usual. Prices increased a little more. Update: Got a large Bun Bo Hue and a Dozen Fried Chicken Wings. The soup was excellent as usual. The wings were big, meaty, and coated in a crunchy tempora batter. They were way bigger than Hooters wings. Update: Got two large Bun Bo Hue bowls. They were excellent as usual. Update: Got a large Bun Bo Hue bowl, and a Bun Hen(clams and vermicelli) bowl. Both were excellent. Update: Got a Bun Hen bowl and a Bun Cha Gio Thit Nuong bowl. Both were excellent. Update: Got two large Bun Bo Hue bowls. They were excellent. Prices have increased.

Food is always good here , especially the Bun Bo Hue. But over the years they have purposely lowered the "heat" level to base 3 out of 10 . I guess some customers have complained about the traditional heat level of bun bo hue was too spicy. Therefore to get to the original level , one must add more saté sauce provided on the side. The chicken wings are exceptionally crispy... Try them ! The price creeped up too !
Amazing food, atmosphere, and service. I love the Vietnamese coffee and of course, the bun bo hue. Best BBH in town!
I wanted to try this place since it was actually referred to by my doctor when I told her I have been searching for a Place in San Diego that has bun Bo hue after having this at a children’s birthday party when my son was in first grade. Their family made it from scratch, and it was one of the best things I had ever tasted. Although the mother of the child told me, I would never find something like it here in San Diego because it’s made with love. My husband surprised me today when I was at work and went and got me the soup🥰 and it was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended !!!
This restaurant is one of the greatest places on Earth. I felt at home when dining at this establishment. In all honesty, it reminds me of my roots at home back in Vietnam. All of the dishes were authentic and tasted surreal. I would definitely return again.

A cash only Vietnamese place that serves some unique dishes. (Update in October 2024:) The No. 1 beef noodle soup (Bun Bo Hue) was very good. It has very tender beef slices, tendon pieces, pork knuckle, coagulated pig blood chunks, and Vietnamese sausage (cha lua) with thick rice noodles (thicker than those in typical Vietnamese pho). The top layer of the soup is somewhat spicy, but the rest of it is not, and you can taste the beef, onions, green onions, cilantro, and other flavors. (Original post in 2021) I only tried their small clams pancake, which came with a large crunchy thin rice cake and a small bowl of small clams stir-fried with onions, garlic, and chilies. It’s very tasty and a little spicy. Will come back to try other items. One thing to note: They have not updated the prices on their menu, yet. Please see the black and white update sheet.
Come back with friend for Bun bo Hue, Hen xuc banh trang and Fried chicken! We were so full! Food is good!

Hole in a wall Vietnamese restaurant, famous for their Bun Bo Hue. They do not serve Pho. Recently, they renovated the seatings so the interior looks better. I’ve been coming here for years and I’ve noticed they have been steadily increasing their price especially over the past couple of years. The price of the Bun Bo Hue and other main dishes have gone up whopping 100%! Don’t call it an inflation, not many place double their price on most of their dishes. They stopped updating their menu prices because they change it frequently. Food is still good but with their penchant for increasing prices, I’ll probably go here less. Cash only, parking is scarce. 3.1/5 ⭐️
