Cannot recommend this Thai place enough. If it’s quiet, do not be deceived, it is worth going in. Would not go anywhere else in SD for Thai food. Amazing veggie options. You got me craving it now!
We came the afternoon of 2/13 in the afternoon. The gaslamp area was not busy at all and neither was this restaurant. My wife and daughter had the drunken noodles, son had pad thai, and I had tempura vegetables. The a spec of food was left between the four of us. The gentleman who served us was very nice and attentive. We'll be back when we visit again.
I was just out walking around and looking for a place to eat while my wife is at a conference and wandered by this place. Maybe it's normal for San Diego, but the inside was not at all what I expected from the street front presentation. I was the only one in the place. I found the decor delightful and the wait staff was on point. I had the red curry, asking them to leave off the eggplant, from their lunch special menu. It was delicious! I may be back later this week with my wife.
Outstanding food. Came to San Diego for a week and went twice. Food is fabulous and the service great and with a smile. Second time we came, they even remembered us. Ordered half the menu in the two trips and everything was fantastic. If you like Thai, definitely worth a visit. If used to Thai food, just be aware they cater for tourists and local market but they will ramp up the heat if you ask. Lovely setting in the heart of the Gas Lamp. Highly recommended. Apologies for photos, it was so good we ate most of it before I remembered to take them
Great location, super close to Petco Park. We always go here for dinner before a Padres game. They have vegan options for most things on the menu. We usually get drunken noodles or pad se ew with tofu. If you want it truly vegan, ask for it without fish sauce. It's not the best Thai I've had, but it's pretty darn good and you can't beat the location. Drinks aren't too expensive either. We also asked if they have a happy hour, and they don't.
This is great Thai Food. Plus, the staff was all really nice and it was quiet with a nice open air layout. I got the Choo Chee duck and it was succulent with a ton of flavor, and a little bit of spice. The sauce was so good i dipped everything else i could in it. The green curry tasted like they weren't using pre made curry pastes, you could taste all the ingredients in it. Even the appetizers - summer rolls, spring rolls, and chicken satay were done very well. Happy we stopped by!
From the moment we walked in, the service was top-notch, warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. The food did not disappoint either! The naked shrimp appetizer was flavorful and perfectly prepared, but the true standout was the honey duck, unbelievably crispy, possibly the best I’ve had. Can’t wait to come back!
My friend took us here for lunch on a weekend. It wasn't busy at all and we were seated right away in their beautiful restaurant. Our waitress took great care of our group. We took advantage of their lunch specials. I ordered the vegetarian drunken noodle and it was delicious. Lots of flavor with the right amount of spiciness for me. We would definitely return!
This place has a very unassuming look from the outside. Don't let that deter you! Once inside you'll see a total difference! An excellent place for a business lunch or an intimate setting for an evening meal. Service is excellent as well as the menu. Prices are right on par with the gas lamp San Diego area and very reasonable. We ordered the Tom Yum soup which we shared. It is one of several hot and sour versions they have that came with mushrooms and a couple of jumbo butterflyed shrimp. We also ordered their sampler platter that had two of each of their appetizers. For dessert you have to try the home made coconut ice cream, which comes as two giant scoops that were so delicious! This place is awesome!! We will be back!!! The artwork on the walls is really unique!
Very welcoming and helpful in advice. Nice interior and good selection of dishes. Food arrived pretty fast, unfortunately not to the quality level I expected from reviews. The dish was quite warm, but definitely not hot. The vegetables had not seen much heat at all, felt pretty raw. I had upgraded the spicyness level, level 5 is nicely spiced but anything but hot. The desert was excellent though, fresh mango with sticky rice, definitely worth having. And not to forget: very good selection of beers.
Friendly service and decent food overall. I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken, which came out to about $25 after tax and tip. For that price, I was expecting a bit more food. The dish ended up being mostly chicken and vegetables, with a relatively small portion of noodles underneath. Not bad, but the value didn’t quite match the price point for me.
Excellent food. Good ambiance and service. Staff was friendly. The service was a bit slow but wouldn't blame them. It was packed. I'll definitely suggest this place if you are in town. The only drawback is they add 15% tip to your bill. We were just 4 people. Tip should be optional and should be on the customer to add and not the establishment.
My mother, daughter and I ate here yesterday. They appear to be somewhat shortstaffed so the wait to be seated lasts as long as it takes the one server to notice you standing by the open door. The inside of the restaurant is very pretty. As a visitor, I was surprised by the lack of bugs despite the front door and window being left wide open. Music played from an overhead speaker while we ate, flat-note jazzy renditions of pop culture hits originally performed Prince, Whitney Houston, Bill Withers, etc. Honestly, I would have preferred the originals. My daughter and I got teas, which were $6 (for no reason) with no refills. The food was better than expected but could use a few improvements. My daughter's pad woon sen had a lot of vegetables but not much in the way of noodles, flavor, or heat. She liked it better after adding chili paste. My mom got basil chicken which she said was already cool upon arrival, but good. She also got a beef dish with eggplant, which she enjoyed, that was warmer. The veggies were plentiful and fresh. She doesn't eat white rice and they were out of brown but subbed salad for her. My yum woon sen was very good! It had plenty of veggies, noodles, and flavor, with a mild heat. It was noticeably missing mint, however, and instead of squid it contained cuttlefish. That was disappointing. The server stated that they didn't have mint that day because it looked bad at the market. There were 4 shrimp. Overall, I was happy with it. We also got curries to go, the green and massaman. The flavors were familiar and good and there were a lot of veggies and meat. They were very watery, though, which doesn't affect the flavor but it's different than what we're used to. The jasmine rice is good. The prices are on point with most Thai restaurants I've been to. If you like heat, I suggest getting heat levels 9 or 10 (the hottest). The food is good (with room for improvement) with good proportions. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, very date-night worthy. They also have an alcoholic beverage menu. Would recommend to my fellow tourists.
I stopped by this Thai restaurant today, and overall, it was a nice experience, though the food felt a bit overpriced . We ordered the green curry and red curry, both with chicken, but most of it were vegetables. The satay chicken skewers were over $14 for just four pieces. Overall, the food quality and service were excellent, so it’s still a Thai restaurant worth visiting.
The food was okay. I ordered the drunken noodles and they came out cold, while my friend’s pad thai was steaming hot. It felt like my dish was cooked first and left sitting until my friend’s order was ready. Also, all of my noodles were cut into small pieces, but the chicken was barely cut. My friend ordered beef and said it was very tough.
Had been to convention center and was walking through downtown .. there are so many restaurants around and we chose to taste Thai food .. this had a good review in Google and we had to try the food here . Ambience inside was good… the place was definitely crowded and it took some time for us to get a seat for 3.. Restaurant was big inside . Lots of tables to sit and eat .. service was the big letdown.. for the size of the crowd they should have had more employees helping the customers.. there was one woman running around taking orders and then going inside to the kitchen and comes back late . Took about 10-15 minutes just to get a beer and a menu card. food was good .. We had pad Thai and it tasted good.. my friends tried a few other stuff and they liked it . .. I had drunken noodle and it was average . Could have been more spicy and flavorful. Again.. food wise it was good overall , but for the wait time and the service , I’ll give a 3 star . ⭐️⭐️⭐️
