I had such a fantastic time here! I came here around maybe four p.m on a Friday, 2/20! It was my birthday, and my family came here to celebrate. We got seated and the staff gave us friendly greetings and the girl who served us was so nice to me telling me happy birthday ^^ . The food and the overall atmosphere is a plus! The sushi is so freaking good! 😊 And the yuzu cheesecake I got for my birthday is fire as well! Definitely will comeback! 💯 for you, Chef JUN! A+! Thank you for making my birthday extra special!
Ordered Jun Omakase one time and Sushi Kaidan (for two) the next time we came. Very good both times. Very fresh. Great customer service. No long wait time. Good size parking lot. We will continue to come here when we want to treat ourselves to some good sushi! Truffle toro was the favorite!
Every time I visit Chef Jun I love what they serve. The poke bowls are delicious and the crispy spicy tuna toast, fire salmon roll really yummy. Will be back.
I love Chef Jun! I'm pretty much a regular here and for good reason. The fish is always so delicious and fresh and the sushi rolls are fantastic! Special shoutout to the oshi salmon, I bow to you. The service is amazing and the place has an intimate ambiance -- great dim lighting! Last time I went, the Avati roll was especially hitting, so I ended up taking a photo like this! (see the second photo). If you're a tuna lover like me, you need to try it. Until you've tasted the whole menu, there's always something new & delicious waiting to be had... I'm working on it. Can't recommend more!
Found this little gem, the selection of fish they had, this is amazing. The quality of the fish was top notch. I will definitely go there again. I highly recommend.!
I got a chance to celebrate my birthday here yesterday. It was a wonderful experience! We each ordered a Jun San set from their omakase menu. Every dish came out delicious! Fresh, soft, and flavorful. We even got a soba and a miso soup at the end. Wanting to try their roll, we ordered a Fire Fire roll, and it didn't disappoint us. Concluded our dinner with a Yuzu Cheesecake was a perfect choice. We will come back to try more of the menu. Highly recommended!
Strip mall near Costco. This is our hidden gem. Such good sushi. The waitress was knowledgeable and sweet. Highly recommend this spot for great sushi and even some new interesting new fish. Simply amazing!
We did the omakase and it was an absolute treat. Chef Jun prepared it for us and we were so impressed. The fish was very fresh and the combination of flavors in each course was amazing. There are good drink options for both sake and beer (not wine though). I can't wait to return!
Casual spot without sacrificing quality. The prices are fair and service is quick. Toro roll was amazing! We’ve come here consistently for date nights.
WOW! Such an experience! Came here last night for Valentine’s Day. This place looks better in person, than it does in pictures. Service was phenomenal. Our server had many tables, yet still checked up on us multiple times. His knowledge about what’s on the menu, and the way he described them were so accurate, He recommended the Salmon Oshi, as well as many other dishes. However that was by far my favorite item. Service overall probably was the best service I’ve had from any other restaurant. Food was excellent, the starters, ramen, sushi, sashimi. Very great restaurant to go and try, I will definitely plan another visit!
Happy to have found a sushi restaurant around my neighborhood. Everything we had was fresh and tasty. I believe the servers name was Melanie. She was very attentive and gave great recommendations.
I traveled to San Diego with my family and tried many restaurants, but Chef Jun was the best. Of course, many famous restaurants in San Diego were delicious, but I still can't forget the omakase I had at Chef Jun's. The restaurant was crowded, but everyone was friendly, and most importantly, the food tasted like the best sushi my husband and I have ever had in our lives. The sushi was incredibly soft, and the taste was extraordinary, likely due to Chef Jun's special aging method. The atmosphere of the restaurant was sophisticated and cozy. It was so delicious that I ate it all without even taking a few pictures, but next time I visit San Diego, I will definitely go to Chef Jun again.
This is a hidden gem. We hit this place up on our way to Carlsbad while on vacation, and it was soooo good! The outside doesn't look like much, but the inside is nice. The food was so good we just kept ordering more items! We got 4 different sushi rolls, cucumber salad, salmon plate, undon noodle soup, and gyoza and it came out pretty quick and full of flavor. The service was excellent! Our waitress was on point and even accommodated our special request in regards to our kids. They have gluten free options. We will definitely be back on our next trip!
What a beautiful space. The food is divine and omakase is very well priced here. I’d say if you’re looking to celebrate and need a budget friendly option they definitely have it here! Their courses were great and quality. Service is impeccable we had the pleasure of being served by Lily and she was the best server I’ve had in a very long time.
I love this place. The staff are kind, the food is good, parking is easy. My only suggestion would be to change up their menu or offer new types of sushi to potentially add to the menu. The good news is that they have nice specials. The black cod was DELICIOUS.
I'm shocked this place isn't more popular. It's amazing! The food/fish are high quality and fresh. My partner and I shared the Jun San and orange Specialty Roll. My favorite is the salmon oshi, which ironically, is the only thing I didn't take a picture of. Everything was delicious and light. We'll definitely be coming back and putting this into our dinner routine.
We ordered Chef choice sushi, one of the Jun set, and a speciality roll. The presentation is 💯. Especially the chef choice sushi, it is presented in such a delicious way. Although, they put the same dressing on almost every piece of the sushi in the chef choice, which is a little less exiciting. But overall the ingredients is fresh and great, atomsphere is awesome, great service too.

Great tasting sushi and sashimi. Nice to be able to make reservations and it's a great place to take friends and family. Its not the cheapest Japanese food around but offers tremendous quality and taste for the price.

Loved it! Ordered the middle set menu. Everything was delicious and it was structured very well with the rice and carbs at the end. Portions were just just the right size to sample many different pieces, the chef choice nigiri were fun ones
My new favorite spot in SD for sushi! A friend of mine if obsessed with this place and had only had takeout from here the many times she had gotten it, so we finally decided to go in for sit down. We already love the takeout quality and were blown away with how it got even better at the restaurant. We love this place to say the least. All the rolls are delicious. My tops are for sure the Orange , Sunrise and Avati. On top of the delicious food, our waiter was just so helpful, attentive and accommodating to our needs. The ambience here is fun for a sushi date or nice dinner with friends. Would recommend a reservation, we had a group of 5 on a Friday night and made a reservation in advance. It did get a little crowded inside and a few parties waiting outside. Parking is also a little chaotic in the lot, but there is some street parking.
We tried Chef Jun for takeout and got the Fire Fire, Hawaiian, and Mango Passion rolls to split between my wife and I. Visually everything looked amazing and the takeout packaging was honestly next level. I’ve never seen sushi boxed like this before. The branding and presentation were super professional and had us hyped from the moment we picked it up. But to be totally honest, the flavor didn’t really match the excitement. The descriptions of the rolls sounded incredible, but when we actually tasted them, the flavors felt kind of off or unexpected. Not bad, just not what we were anticipating based on what we ordered. The sauces they came with definitely helped and made the overall experience better, but I have to say the fish didn’t taste as fresh or clean as we hoped for. Maybe it was just an off day or maybe takeout doesn't do them justice. Some toppings like the sprouts or what I think was a seaweed crunch just didn’t do it for me either. They kind of threw the balance off and weren’t super appetizing in my opinion. Still, we gave it a fair shot and appreciated the unique flavor profiles. Might try it again fresh and dine in next time to give it a better chance.
So the sushi was delicious. But I’ve had better. The ramen was very mid - broth was bland as can be. And the chasu pieces were small compared to other places I’ve been. The sushi saved the meal in my opinion. The restaurant overall was very nice, clean, beautiful and the ambience was great. The service was fantastic as well. I just expected more. Possibly could be better use my expectations were set very high.
The food quality was good, but portions were small and pricey. The hand roll, at $8, was notably tiny. Other sushi rolls were expensive, and despite spending $112 for five people, we left not feeling full. While the sushi tasted delicious, the overall value didn't match the cost. Highlights were the Fire Fire Roll and Hawaiian Roll.

Honestly, it was just fine. We only got sushi rolls, so maybe the big plate dinners are better. But out of their like 10 or so specialty rolls, there were literally only 3, maybe 4 rolls that didn't include krab. And one was vegetarian. You're super limited in rolls to pick from if you don't want krab. And I don't so it's just like... Well I guess I'm only getting these cuz they're the only ones with real meat. Not like I had to decide between a selection. They chose for me. Kinda insane to me that you're going to a sushi place with such high prices when it's full of just imitation crab.
