This is one of the absolute best dumpling places out there. Whenever we are in the area we always stop by for some deliciousness. Seriously guys, I haven’t tried better dumplings anywhere else. Also, tried their jellyfish salad for the first time and it was goooooood but a tad bit spicy. Also, lotus was yummy!!! Anyways, definitely give this place a shot
tried several dumpling options from this place at a catered event and got a good sense of their range. The veggie spring rolls were standard fare - crisp, fresh, and exactly what you expect from a spring roll. The vegetable dumplings, filled with local greens, carrot, cilantro, mushroom, and egg, were decent. I couldn’t really taste the egg, and overall the filling felt like a typical vegetable mix. Solid, but nothing particularly memorable. The chicken dumplings, with chicken, assorted mushrooms, green onion, and cilantro, were good and well-balanced. Nothing dramatically stood out. Neither in a great nor disappointing way but they were enjoyable and well-executed. The BBQ pork bao with char siu roasted pork belly was very good. The barbecue flavor was rich and satisfying, tucked inside a soft, moist bun that held everything together beautifully. The real standout was the lobster siu mai with chives, butter, and white truffle oil. I’ve never had a dumpling quite like it. It was rich and creamy without overpowering the lobster, which tasted clean and true to itself. Easily the most memorable bite of the evening. The har gow with shrimp and juicy pork was also excellent. The seafood tasted fresh, and the thin wrapper gave it that delicate, classic texture you want in a good har gow. If you go, prioritize the seafood-based dumplings. They were easily the highlight and absolutely worth trying.
Service was fantastic, did I say service was good. In todays world, in the service world, service is what counts most. Then comes the so many different chioces of dumplings, lamb, beef, pork and fish, it was a party eating there. Loved it and will be back and they are reasonable on the pricing.
This place is amazing. The Beijing noodles are delicious. We got the combo XLB which was honestly a win. The chocolate XLB for dessert is 😽🤌 We will be back and we will bring reinforcements. And buy all yalls awesome shirts. $30-50 each but we got lots of dishes and dessert and left full. With stickers.
What a place this is, after a lot of discussions we decided to head to this place and we were glad we did. The outdoor sitting is just fab, the service is on point and what can I say about the food, I’m just in love with it, everything we ordered was top notch the lobster shu mai took my heart away.
Yummy in my tummy food crazy spread of soup dumplings INSANE cucumbers highly recommend green beans and sweet and spicy wings. And they had super warm heat lamps when I was chilly in SF and súperb quiet atmosphere all around. And top notch service and they gave my bro TWO complimentary desserts for his bday
Amazing food! Loved the new truffle shrimp egg rolls, plus the classics like the soup dumplings XLB and twists like Tom Yum. Very friendly staff, willing to help and make suggestions. Love that you can see them making the dumplings too! Got both take out and dine in and both were delicious
My daughter and I were visiting San Francisco. She loves soup dumplings and picked this place to eat. We drove straight from SFO and had lunch. We had cucumber & chili salad, edamame with Szechuan pepper, Beijing noodles, chili pork dumplings, soup dumplings, and sesame balls. My daughter had the chrysanthemum tea and I had a Sapporo. It was soooo good! The staff were great too. It was so good that we went there again for dinner the night before we left. Our waiter, Hunter, remembered us from our earlier visit and gave my daughter a soup dumpling pin. It was a great time. Can’t wait to come again the next time we’re in town!
This place deserves all the stars. Delicious and creative food with fast and efficient service and funky, warm vibes. There are k pop music videos playing on a giant projector inside. The dumpling and bao are to die for. I love all the dumplings but the pork beet dumplings are not to be missed! They will blow you away. Their outdoor seating is great too, complete with high powered heat lamps. It was almost toasty out there. No reservations so you have to get on the list but jump across the street to the Thai sports bar for a drink while you wait.
Great experience. The dumplings are the best I have ever had. The new outdoor patio is really great and it doubles the seating area so less wait time. The service is blindingly fast. We found plenty of nearby street parking. Our group found the new phone based menu didn’t work for us so the staff brought us paper menus which was ok but the paper menus lacked the care and presentation that the old menu used to have. The Staff were pleasant and efficient but not as warm as past visits. I recommend this as the best Asian restaurant in the Bay Area.
I can't stop telling people how awesome this place is. I was visiting SF and I'm so glad I made the Uber drive to eat here. I ended ordering twice because it was so good. I ordered the lamb and red dumplings and they were very filling, but it was my last day in town, so I placed another order of both of them. I don't regret this decision. This restaurant is a must for anyone visiting the Bay Area. The servers and management were incredibly friendly and professional. There service was fast and this location is beautiful!! Update: I planned a layover purposefully to SF just to visit Dumpling Time. And now I realize this is my favorite restaurant in the USA.
The xi’an dumplings were the best. The wagyu gyoza did not have any taste of wagyu and the chicken gyoza was honestly better. The lamb dumpling comes with only 4 pieces and was alright. The service was prompt and fastidious. However, the food was not at the level I expected. They need to add more options for soup dumplings as well. All the ciao ling bao are only pork options.
Very nice food. I had the noodles and so did my friend. Can’t remember which ones I had though lol. The point is they were very good. Then we had the mango pitting and sesame balls, which were my favorite. Sesame balls had bean paste inside which I adored however, the service wasn’t so nice they were very slow and they sent us the check before we had finished ordering… and then sent us another one after we ordered dessert. I understand that it may have been a mistake, but overall a very nice place and I’ve come many times now!
Very mediocre. Really dislike when xlbs are presented in tinfoil cups. I expected higher quality tbh. Scallion noodles were overcooked and mushy. Best thing was the chili sauce and snap peas. Restaurant ambience is nice though and spacious. Other than that, i don’t get the hype and there are many other places to get the same food but better.
probably the worst dumpling place i’ve had in sf. xlb were just so off, skin way too thick and sauce was weird didn’t bother taking a pic. the wontons were quite tough, not flavorful, skins not smooth or silky and broth very mid. the fish filet i have no comments, we thought it was a weird sweet taste as if it were a starchy maple syrup glaze 🤢
It's not looking good. Beef noodle soup and pho listed as beef - spiced broth cilantro lime IS ALL MADE WITH WHEAT NOODLES. I DIFFINITLY WONT BE BACK. I SO DISLIKE WRITING BAD REVIEWS BUT THIS PLACE DESERVES IT.FAKE PHO IS AS LOW AS IT GOES FOR THOSE IN THE KNOW. MENU IS NOT HONEST WRITTEN DECEPTIVELY. I ORDERED PORK DUMPLINGS AND NOE BEEN HERE TO TOO 2 LONG . WISH I HADN'T ORDERED cilantro see photo not on pork dumpling menu and for me cilantro taste like soap. No competent Asian chef would add cilantro in the dish . It's put on side for customer to add. Refusing dish deceptive and dishonest menu. I will stay away from here.
