An excellent place for relaxation and dinner. Soft jazz music, a cozy venue with a limited number of seats, European-style ambiance combined with Asian cuisine. Fresh fish, authentic Japanese soy sauce, sake, and outstanding dishes, all prepared with care. This charming place will recharge you after a challenging workday and bring a positive end to your day, providing a pleasant escape from the monotony of weekdays 👍🏻
Solid and fresh. Each roll and piece of nigiri was delicious. My boyfriend doesn’t eat seafood so he is always happy to come across a place with a variety of vegetarian options. The veggie dragon roll especially stood out. He thought the chicken meatballs were good but not great. Don’t come here expecting fancy decor or super attentive service. Fairly laid back environment, friendly staff, and a no rush feeling.
Really friendly staff, authentic atmosphere (makes me feel like I’m back in Japan / Taiwan again!). Doesn’t look like much from the outside, but honestly this place is now one of my favorite hole in the wall go-to in sf for Japanese food! Highly recommend the unagi nigiri, super fresh and the rice is delicious too! Just be patient for your food to come out as they are understaffed (and working super hard)!
Absolutely fantastic spot for small bites, rolls, and sushi. We’ve been here a couple of times and loved it! This is great spot for nigiri and rolls. They give pretty generous cuts for their nigiri and have a wide array of rolls even for vegetarians! The tea and soup they serve is always hot and the service is prompt. It’s a pretty cozy spot with nice jazz music playing. I highly recommend giving sushi kazu a try!
Amazing sushi! Service a little slower from Covid, only one sushi chef but he makes food o delicious and their prices are below market. Makes for an opportunity to eat a lot and try more items at a fair price. When I go back to SF I will go again!
Amazing sushi. Too often in the us sushi are awful, but kazu-san truly makes delicious sushi that instantly bring me back in Japan ! The atmosphere in the restaurant is very friendly. They also have very good sake and choya. I will be back as often as I come back to San Francisco.
Best sushi in San Francisco - excellent quality and fresh. Family owned, neighborhood vibe. Sit at the counter and take your time.

Best sushi in San Francisco - excellent quality and fresh. Family owned, neighborhood vibe. Sit at the counter and take your time.
Great local spot. We live in the neighborhood and have eaten here a few times. Great sushi, great service, cozy/homey vibe. Very fair pricing
My family and i go here frequently and we always have fantastic meals. We have been to Japan many times and this place is incredibly authentic. You can tell because the chef and servers are all chatting in Japanese! The quality of the fish is fantastic and the dishes are unique and inventive. Looking forward to all the future meals i will eat here!
Great sushi and cooked dishes for reasonable SF prices! One of our favorite Japanese restaurants in the city. Fun special rolls and especially recommend trying the vegetarian “veggie dragon”
This our go to place. We love it. Just a husband and wife team and their food and prices blow the other sushi spots in the area out of the water. Every time we try a different place we regret it. Don’t sleep on the potstickers
This local Japanese restaurant offers the best hand-crafted sushi, large variety of appetizers and exceptional service.
Yummy, good fast service, healthy chicken katsu! Pretty affordable

Been here twice and I'd give it 3.5 stars. The service is great and the people are friendly, and prices are decent. Besides miso soup, I have only ordered nigiri here. The miso soup always comes out piping hot - I love it. The nigiri is made with generous cuts of fish, but there is way too much rice so it's not a good balance. Sometimes there is also too much wasabi added which takes away from the flavor of the fish. A memorable choice was the Japanese scallop - it had too much wasabi and a lot of salt sprinkled on top. Can't forget that horrid salty taste in my mouth paired with my nostrils burning from the wasabi haha. Overall, not my spot for sushi but I'm glad I tried this place out more than once.
Great sushi cuts. Good size and very fresh. Only gripe I have is the slow service.
Went here for the first time when Ebisu was busy. Very impressed. Good selection and reasonable prices. Fish was fresh and tasty, rice was perfect. Friendly waitress and skilled chefs.
Enjoyed all the dishes we ordered. Nice presentations.

Great sushi, amazing environment, slow service. The place has an amazing environment. Inside has a calming feel and the place looks like you were transported into a restaurant in Japan. The service was slow, there was only one man making everything. The food took at least half an hour to receive if not longer. Despite a one man show behind the sushi bar, the food was great. The fish was refreshing and the rice had amazing quality to it. The sauces were tasty and blended well with the fish and rice. Overall great food and atmosphere, but slow service.

Terrible service; had >1hr wait time after ordering, multiple things were wrong with our order, missing ingredients (how do you forget to add avocado to an avocado salmon roll), no wasabi/ginger came with the sushi, I could go on. Food itself was very average, but based on the sloppiness of the staff and the way it was prepared, I can’t recommend this place.

I recently visited Sushi Kazu and I must say, I was extremely disappointed with my experience. The food was mediocre at best and definitely not worth the high prices they charged. To make matters worse, the service was incredibly slow and disorganized. It took a long time for our food to arrive. The staff seemed uninterested in providing good service, and didn't seem to care that we were unhappy with our experience. Overall, I would not recommend Sushi Kazu to anyone looking for good sushi or a pleasant dining experience. There are plenty of other sushi restaurants in the area that offer better quality food and service, so save your money and go somewhere else.
