Popular poke place in San Jose known for their poke nachos, poke bowls and homemade Hawaiian sweets. Fun fact but their ahi is freshly flown from Hawaii and prepared on the same day. I’ve never seen a poke place have their own milk teas and butter mochi (which I’ll come back to try another time). They have a wide variety selections for the poke bowls including garlic butter scallops, take (octopus), their usual ahi and salmon while having unique sides not found at other stores. I got the poke lover bowl for $20 (2 poke selections and 2 sides) with spicy ahi and kakui nut ahi, and Mac salad and imitation crab for sides. Although their bowl may look small, they pack their bowls with rice and poke. Their ahi was amazing – it’s like the filet mignon of the sea. The ahi doesn’t need to be chewed because melts in your mouth! The spicy ahi was my favorite because it had spice that snuck up on me while having great spicy mayo flavor. The kakui nut came with onions and was similar to traditional ahi at other stores. Mac salad was on the saltier side but I prefer it because it makes the bowl more flavorful. The imitation crab is lighter on the mayo so the sweetness from the imitation crab is more prominent. Despite being extremely busy, staff provided great and friendly service. I would definitely come back and get the spicy ahi while trying other flavors and their desserts!
I can't say much about the ambiance or service since I only tried the food at a party yesterday--but wow, it was so good I had to ask where it was from! I've never really been into poke, but after tasting the scallops, I was instantly hooked. The flavor was unbelievable--my taste buds were honestly surprised! My friend ordered seven kinds of poke and seaweed salad, and every single one was delicious. Even the spicy ones were perfectly balanced. I'm definitely planning a visit soon--my taste buds want more of what Aloha Fresh has to offer!
Closest thing you’ll get for poke without being in Hawaii your self in the Bay Area. Great options and selections. They operate with poke bowls. Choose your type, where it’s a single poke, rice, sides. Or a 1 hot and 1 poke item with rice, and sides. Or what I ordered a “poke lovers”. 2 poke, rice, and 2 sides. I always order the kalbi ahi, more unique combination that i haven’t tried in Hawaii and the kalui nut salmon. Sides are seaweed salad and Mac salad. Somewhat pricey for $15-20 a bowl but 100% worth it. Whenever we’re in the South Bay this is one of the automatic goto spots for the wife and I. Worth a stop by. Don’t sleep on the butter mochi! Guava and lilikoi both amazing!
very fresh and delicious! the mac salad and the imitation crab salad are a touch too mayo-y for my taste (perhaps some black pepper or vinegar could help?) but the poke items are super good. I did think the sweet soy salmon was a bit bland, but I also think that was what helped me taste how fresh the fish is, so it wasn't a complete L
Wow. Totally loved the food and the vibes. We appreciated the options and how quickly we were able to get in and out of the store. The staff was super friendly and they were able to answer questions and make recommendations while they were moving around the space and helping others. We will be back for sure!
Highly recommend even if you hate seafood! I promise this tastes amazing! We got the Poke Lover with Spicy Salmon and Kalbi Ahi 😋 SOO good! We split a bowl and it was more than enough for us. Would definitely go back.
Tips: Grab some poke from Aloha Fresh, beverage from Nijiya Market across the street (200 fts), and end the meal with a Pau Hana shave ice dessert (next to Nijiya). You can't go wrong with this combo! 😋 Although the San Jose Japan town only stretches approximately 4 blocks in length, it is packed with gems waiting to be discovered. Aloha Fresh is one of the stores for example. The poke here came pre-seasoned with a variety of combinations. The seafood here is fresh and the portions are generous. There are a few poke bowl options where you can choose 1-2 poke and your choices of sides. I love that you can choose your side as not everyone likes the seaweed salad or the crab salad. There are cucumbers, pickle onions, kimchi, Mac salad, and lomi lomi salad with additional cost. All the items are displayed clearly so be prepared to know what you want when it is your turn. In addition, the shop offered hot food items such as fried chicken (you can call it small bit sized chicken) with a few flavor options. And for those who are wondering, YES, they sell Spam Musubi! 😱😱😱 I love it how it is cut in half diagonally, such a thoughtful details that remind us to slow down and not shove the entire Musubi down our throat! 😅 For dessert, the shop offered a few flavors of mochi cake displayed by the cash register. Did I mention their Ahi is shipped from Hawaii and never frozen? Now that is freshness you can taste!

Came here on a whim after reading some TikTok comments, but what can I say…. Wow!🧚🏽♀️I was not expecting to love this so much, but the spicy salmon poke with kimchi was delicious. Would 10/10 recommend!!

This was hands down some of the best poke I’ve ever had. Super fresh and superb flavors for their spicy sauce. You can get your poke over greens or grains or a combination of both. I got mine over black rice and arugula. Generally? Poke spots give you the option of sauce on top and I thought without it, it may be dry but that would as totally not the case. Preparation was quick and staff was friendly. I also ordered their mochi butter cake, which was delicious. Highly recommend.
Their poke is fresh and super flavorful! Also, they have the best sale and vinegar karaage. I drive 1 hour and 30 min for it😍 The place can get very crowded and the line can be all the way outside of the store, but it worths the wait and since they don’t have a dining space, it doesn’t take so long.
Great selection of poke! Everything tasted fresh and delicious. It's take out/to go only since there are not seating but if you walk around Japantown you're bound to find a place to sit and eat. They're known for their Poke Nachos and it did not disappoint!!
Got the poke lover with scallops and spicy salmon. Reminds me of Hawaii…very fresh! Plenty of food for me. Also got the lilikoi mochi. If you like mochi, this was delicious. Would 100% come back next time I’m in SJ area. Only issue was lack of seating but we found a bench outside to sit and eat.
This was my second time coming here. I placed an online order on Valentine's day, saturday night around 6pm. The inside of the building is a bit dark, but has a more cozy vibe. They made our order incredibly quickly and was ready within 15 minutes. They called asking about extra sides since online, you can only order by the pound (which is way too much). The male worker then informed us we could get a quarter pound of sides which was the perfect amount. We got 4 1/2 lbs of different poke, 1lb of rice, and 4 different 1/4lbs of sides and the total was about $75. Would recommend doing this for takeout for handrolls at home!
Tried Aloha Fresh in Japantown for lunch for the 2nd time. Initially ordered Aloha Bowl with Korean Fried Chicken—flavor was solid but way too salty for me. The 2nd visit, I swapped it for the Garlic Chicken and that hit way better: tender, savory, and balanced. The bowl came with fluffy rice, creamy mac salad, and some tangy namasu that really cut through the richness. Quick service, chill spot, good portions. I’d go back—just sticking with the garlic next time.
Very tasty and fresh poke bowls here! They have a good variety of seasoned fish to choose from and they always taste fresh. I also really love their black rice that they offer. Also this is a take out spot only, there are no seats inside for you to eat. There are tables and a few benches outside and across the street
Wow! Here I find myself FINALLY finding some tuna that tastes and FEELS just like it does in Hawaii. Drove a bit out of the way to come here and I was not disappointed. The fish is fresh, the texture is the best I’ve had in the states, and the flavors they offer are delicious. If you want to feel like you’re in Oahu grabbing some poke this is the place to be! Lastly, the service was great. They were very patient with me, answered all of my questions, and gave great recommendations. Can’t wait to come back!

One of the best and most authentic poke I have had so far in California. Been getting some since 2017 or 2018. Love their kukui nut ahi tuna and salmon.

One of my favorite poke places, they bring in their tuna from Hawaii and it is really good, I am just not the biggest fan of tuna,my favorite is their miso salmon, their sides are excellent. My husband loves their hot items and butter michi too. Friendly staff, the only thing is that it is only to-go, there is no seating.
We visited Aloha Fresh in San Jose Japantown after seeing all the hype on TikTok, and when we arrived there was already a long line out the door—about 20 people ahead of us. From start to finish, it took roughly 30 minutes to order and get our food, partly because they ran out of spicy salmon, which slowed things down even more. We tried the spicy salmon, spicy ahi tuna, scallop, the popular “um nachos” (poke served over wonton chips—the main reason we came), butter mochi, and Korean fried chicken. Overall, most of the food was pretty tasty and the pricing felt fair. However, the scallop was a miss. It had a strong seafood, “sea” taste that didn’t feel fresh and left an uncomfortable aftertaste. Because of that, we ended up throwing it away. The Korean fried chicken was also disappointing. It came out immediately and wasn’t hot—or even warm—which made it clear it wasn’t freshly cooked. As for the um nachos, they were good, but not groundbreaking. I’ve had similar poke-and-wonton-chip combinations before, whether in taco form or plated differently. This felt more like a trendy fusion take than something truly new or standout. I wouldn’t say it’s better than other poke places—it just happens to be having a viral moment. The space itself is very casual. There’s no indoor seating, so everyone eats outside on benches and tables. Parking in the area is tricky, mostly paid street parking unless you find a nearby neighborhood spot. On the positive side, the staff was friendly and service was polite—it was just really slow due to how crowded it was. Overall, it was fun to try a new place, and the food was solid in parts, but not something I’d wait in a long line for again.
It was a very busy line to get poke, but it was worth it imo. Would’ve gave them a full 5 stars, but when their spicy salmon poke was out, it ended up holding the line for a good 10-15mins to catch up on orders. But then when the spicy salmon poke was ready, there was a whole group of people waiting for it, and it was a whole mess. Some people paid for their bowls already, and then some didn’t. So when they were making everyone bowls, they had no ideas who is who’s bowl; as they are not labeled, and employees started handing out bowls without anyone knowing who’s is who’s. Ended up getting a bowl I didn’t order, and I didn’t realize until I already left. So for future, I’ll reccomend them to label the bowls with their name or something, if they have people waiting for a thing that is out. But about the food itself, it was really good, the poke tasted very fresh and every side was really good. I was suppose to get a spicy salmon and like ahi tuna or something, but ended up getting like double scoop wasabi spicy salmon or something, with ocean salad and crab and ginger . But ended up because good anyways. The poke is def on the pricier side, it’s was $21 dollars for mine and it wasnt a crazy amount of portion. But the poke did def taste fresher than other poke places.
Came here a few years back and recently revisited this place again. Their poke bowls are delicious. There are many options to choose from. Ordered the Poke Lover and the Poke Nachos. Both of them are good and really like the wonton chips that come with the nachos. It tasted really good with poke. Downsides of this place are: - There is no sitting area. It's for to-go only. If you want to eat there, you'll have to find a bench outside to sit. It's not ideal for hot or rainy weather. - Very small place and line is sometimes outside the door. The line doesn't move fast either. - Parking isn't easy on the weekend or during busy hours. If you come during the week, prepare to pay for parking. It would be nice if they open another location with seating areas and better parking.
I ordered the Aloha Bowl w/ Korean fried chicken, white rice, mac salad, and namasu online. The textures and flavors were mostly great. The sauce on the chicken was too salty. I'd prefer a spicy or sweeter option. However, i would like to try the rest of the menu.

Coming from Oahu, this wasn't bad at all. Ahi Poke was about $27/lb. Fish was great tasting and they had good seasoning for the spicy ahi (more mayo and not too spicy). Ordered the Small Kine and portion for $14 bowl was not bad either because it comes with two sides! Only off putting was for a place with the name Aloha, the workers didn't have the Aloha spirit. Felt like we were taking away their time from talking amongst each other. There's also no sampling allowed, which I'm not complaining about, but a heads up if you don't know what you want exactly.

Ordered chicken musubi and two different poke nachos. Tasty food but not the friendliest service. Even after placing cash into the tip jar there was no “thank you.” I could tell they wanted us to hurry and select what we wanted. Didn’t greet us with more than “do you have any questions?”. Told them we had just been to Hawaii and were craving poke nachos and they had no response. Awkward to say the least. I wouldn’t say they were “rude” per se—more just lacking service industry training.
