Hands down one of the best soul food restaurants I've ever tried! The waitstaff was very attentive to our needs and friendly. The food comes in great portions. Everything was perfect!!

I'm giving a 5 star rating because I had an issue with my order and the owner made it right. My oxtails were great.

Can't believe I didn't know this place was here before. Will definitely return, it was great. Catfish was really good, most places overcook it but this was still really moist. Collard Greens were just the right amount of subtle smokiness. Chicken wings were also really good. Yams had great spices in them.

Excellent spot for a true downhome soul food meal. It's a small restaurant but we seem to get a table each time we go. There are lots of takeout orders constantly while we're dining. Friendly owner and staff. I usually have the same fish sandwich special whenever I go. You can't beat the price during their special hours. Family & friends choose other items on the menu. Shout out to Scends Restaurant in San Leandro! My Mom's closest friend passed a couple of weeks ago and the family was struggling to figure out how to feed the crowd after the service. They reached out and asked for recommendations and unfortunately, we didn't have any but my Mom did suggest a few items be included because the dearly departed enjoyed soul food. Fast forward to the repast and we find out the family was able to be connected to SCENDS RESTAURANT from San Leandro. They catered the repast to a degree- the fried and baked chicken was purchased elsewhere as requested by my Mom as the dearly departed one loved this particular fried chicken. However, SCENDS came through with everything else and when I tell you that EVERYONE raved about how flavorful and tasty this food was.....baby- we had to go plates to take home...that's how much food was provided and how good it was. MY REVIEW: Keep in mind I am a semi-pescatarian/mostly vegetarian so there were not a lot of options for me BUT I made sure to include feedback from other meat eaters. MAC N' CHEESE 7.5/10 - TBH, I'm not a huge mac and cheese fan (judge your mama) BUT this was so dang good. A good little brown crisp on the edges- creamy where it needed to be and cheesy for the rest. GREENS 10/10-Best thing on most people's plates.... after the fact, I found out they seasoned them with turkey meat but it wasn't present in the greens so you may want to ask before consuming. BUT I just pretended I didn't know and they were GREAT! CORNBREAD: Gave me cake texture- slightly sweet...a little crumbly...could use more butter. And lastly the finale was the PEACH COBBLER (they did serve and offer cake desserts but I'm not a fan and most people were like MEH) BABY- it was served warm and gooey and sticky and nutmeg heavy and all the things it needed to be. CASE CLOSED. Read the menu in my pics- and go see them and judge for yourself!

Best I've had in Cali since leaving my hometwn Louisiana. Noooobody in cali has gotten this close. Waitress was plesent, cook was moving. They were so polite. I was glad to wait patiently. Great atmosphere. I walked in an swear it smelled and felt like I had come home from school on a friday an my mom was n the kitchen throwin down. And gave me everything i needed + REAL HOT SAUCE🥰Bless yall All i can say is this was GREAT! 👌

I was in town for a short trip, and I came across Scends by chance, and I'm so glad I did. The staff was so welcoming as soon as i walked in, gave honest recommendations, and the portion sizes were hearty! This was good Ole home cooking and I will be back next time I'm in town!

Wow!! So glad I found this place! Great soul food for real!...Nice down-home feel, with friendly folks and great overall atmosphere. Fried chicken, catfish, greens, cornbread, red beans and rice and mac n cheese all on point! If you have a craving for some southern taste soul food, make Scends you place to dine!!

Overall a good experience. We arrived around 3pm and it was fairly busy. The customer service was good, the food was good and it came out quick. We ordered the Treaty meal, but requested the wings be replaced with Turkey wings instead which they kindly accommodated (paid extra). Will try their cakes next time. I recommend it if you’re looking for quality service and quality food. $$$

I had Dion’s Delight (2 whole wings and 1 pork chop, with lemon pepper added to the wings). The wings were cooked perfectly but the pork chop was a little bit dry. The Cole slaw was tasty, with a vinaigrette dressing.

I had a taste for fried fish and could not think of a place I wanted to go to. I searched and found Scends. I first called them to see if they were good and the gentleman on the phone made my day. I had a million questions (I am particular about where I eat) and he answered each one. He did not rush me off the phone. He recommended the Rock (combination wings and fish) and I placed my order. If I tell you, the food was worth the 1/2 hour wait (Friday)! The chicken was delicious as the fish. I give this place a 5*!

Really good food, and good service. Will definitely be back again. I ordered a Porkchop Sandwich for a late lunch and it was delicious. Maybe I will try some wings next time.

Today was our first trip to Scends! Thank you City of San Leandro for sharing this restaurant on your instagram. I have been working from home so my boyfriend and his dad went to get take out for lunch and brought me a delicious fish burger and fries! The catfish was fresh, crispy and perfectly seasoned. I loved the hot sauce for an added kick. The fries were crispy and fresh. I also loved their fried okra, which were also perfectly cooked. They have excellent customer service! If you plan to come eat here, bring cash. We will be back!

The food is the Bomb, wow I was so happy now if he can only make sweet and sour turkey wings.

Today was our first trip to Scends! Thank you City of San Leandro for sharing this restaurant on your instagram. 5 stars! The main cashier (manager?) is incredibly nice and the staff are very friendly... Food is delicious and hot ... I highly recommend the Mac n cheese, Rice with gravy, Chicken or Catfish Sandwich.... Especially rice with gravy which is priced at a reasonable $2.50 a container. Very good food!

If comfort had a flavor, it would be found in a slow-cooked plate of oxtail with rice and gravy. This dish is a masterclass in depth, richness, and soul. I’d rate it 10/10 and would forget my name again for this plate. How I wish we had the same restaurant in Canada. Highly recommended!

The food was so yummy delicious that I didn't get pictures!! Next time!! Love that the coating on both the fish (catfish) and wings is not heavy or overbattered. Very tasty!!

Super friendly Southern Hospitality staff. Very good food. The greens are amazing. Good mac and cheese, turkey wings and very good peace cobbler. Suggestions: Include RICE with turkey wings; you used to. About 20% LESS SUGAR in peach cobbler and it will be perfect! Great job!

Chicken & pork chop was cooked to perfection. The sides I enjoyed was mac 'n cheese and those greens and cornbread. The yams were way too sweet and had too much nutmeg or cinnamon. The rice and gravy was mushy. Red beans and rice was awesome! Didn't have any cobbler since none available so I tried the banana pudding which was good.

My gf and I came here for lunch. I ordered the catfish sandwich & sock it to me cake (very delicious) my gf got the chicken sandwich which is just a frozen chicken patty like they served back in school - not an actual chicken breast sandwich. Chicken sandwich and fish sandwich honestly looked identical. A little misleading, was our first time there.

My fried chicken was really Good, yams Great, redbeans & rice good. My cornbread was dry. Great customer service. Maybe they can work on a better calling in-order system. I will return

This food slaps all day everyday!! the cook does not disappoint you! Everything, I mean everything is bomb! Just how grandma use to make it! Must try the fall off the bone turkey wings, fried catfish, collard greens, fried okra, Mac and cheese, yams, potato salad the German chocolate cake and peach cobbler your taste buds will be so happy. The staff, service, quality , and taste of the food is super awesome!! You have to go here ... period

My first time going here was today and I’m came all the way from SF. This place was a huge disappointment first off the waitress came to our table with a scarf on her head. Then when the food was served the served it on Dixie paper plates. The place was so unorganized, dark and dirty. The waitress stop at someone else table to talk while holding my food in her hands. Then he caught an attitude for me asking her to bring my food. They charge a 4% if you sit and eat and still ask for tip… STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. The food is so salty

Pork chop was dry on one side and moist on the other side. cornbread was not tasty at all. Mac salty. Now the greens was the bomb that got two stars by itself. But overall the customer service was good

I hope they get someone who know how to real cook good mac and cheese and stop using cheap cheese that doesn't melt..

...I like well-seasoned food, but their food was extremely salty. The fried fish was bland and watery under the salty crust. The mac and cheese was abnormally cold and the red beans and rice was watery. The food lacked any personality and did not feel like it was cooked with "passion" and/or "love". Unfortunately, I would not recommend or go back.

Totally not happy with my order. I've been to this place many times. I guess I need to order & eat it in house. My take out order included overcooked dry snapper, bland cabbage, and way to sweet yams. It'll be a while... or maybe never again. Y'all gotta do better♡ luv anyway.

First time on Friday June 7th for fish and chicken to go. Customer service was e excellent but the food wasnt. Fish not seasoned and chicken wings fried too hard. I like the French fries and hush puppies but I will pass next time. Very disappointed in my 49.00 meal. Hopefully it was just a bad day for sending or bad selection for me.

Food was not soulful at all can you open at 11:00 AM? I got my food at 2 PM my chicken was over hard the grease seem like it was never changed from the day before cabbage was very watery. The mac & cheese was not baked at all. The food was horrible. Sad to say it was better at the other location.
