We dropped in for Black Forest's infamous 2-for-1 schnitzel. The owner graciously fit us in. What a treat! We relish our carb-ups and this was a good one. Excellent food and friendly service. I will be dropping in tomorrow to pick up my hat I forgot. lol

Onion soup and escargots at a German restaurant? Yes... Best I've had! Schnitzel was out of this world! Bratwurst and Spätzle were very good and topping it off with an apple strudel made it all even better. Owners and chef are German, very friendly (spent a few rainy evening hours chatting with them and the house entertainers, Andrea and Latcho)... Great experience... Highly recommended.

What a great find! Need a break from the never ending trough of Mexican food in La Cruz? This is the place. Clean, quiet and relaxing, this husband and wife run oasis delivers. The walled courtyard screens out the kids, dogs and background mariachi music so you can enjoy incredible tastes and ambiance of a well-run restrauant. All the classics are on the menu including other tasty surprises. Great beers too! All of this for the same prices as the other slop around town.

We went for Schnitzel Madness (Sundays) and we were not disappointed. Good service and delicious food (2 had schnitzel and 2 had rouladen). Reservations suggested as it is very busy.

Although I love the local foods in Riviera Nayarit, from time to time (likely because of my 30 years world travel for work) I enjoy eating an American or European meal. You will never eat at a more authentic German restaurant than Black Forest. I have visited Germany more than 25 times (during my travel agency days) while designing world class tours such as the famous (in the Midwest) WCCO Good Neighbor tours. The Schnitzel dish is as excellent as any restaurant I have eaten at in the Black Forest of Germany. Go there if you are in Riviera Nayarit, it's even worth the drive from Jalisco throughout the Puerto Vallarta area! Highly recommend them. Great Caesar salad too.

What a great find! I was so thrilled to find Schnitzel and Spaetzle on the menu. Grew up eating veal schnitzel, and this really took me back. Very unexpected, and most delightful!

I’m gluten free and found the menu to be accommodating although you must ask. Also my vegetarian friend had the Thai curry dish without the shrimp and they put in extra veggies. Had a lovely dessert too which is a huge treat as a gf person. Food was great. Had the goulash with quinoa which was terrific.

Excellent and authentic German cuisine. Owned and operated by Germans, this food is like being in Deutschland. Full bar, and 2 for one schnitzel nights. Best to make a reservation ahead as this place can be very busy.

Surprising authentic German food in the middle of this sleepy little la Cruz. Run by two German women who I believe identified themselves as sisters. Super friendly, great food. It's a little spendy, but worth it if you're looking for a change from hamburguesas and shrimp burritos.

Whodathunk? A German restaurant is a small Mexican pueblo. Sunday night is 2 for 1 Schnitzel and you better have a reservation or else you won't get in. The schnitzel was excellent, but the star of the show was the purple cabbage, holy smokes that was good. Open Sunday to Friday and they take Visa.

Schnitzels and tarte flammbe are recommended. The service was so friendly and prompt. Great option for dinner in La Cruz. Also 2 for 1 schnitzels on Sundays. We went on the a Monday and it was quiet but worth it.

Didn't think German food would be on my list this trip, but I'm so glad I tried this place. It was delicious! I had a Brauern Salat with the freshest vegetables and a light balanced vinaigrette. The Bratwurst Konstanz was good too with the crisp on the fried potatoes done perfectly. Service was attentive and friendly.

The Schnitzel Baden Baden was outstanding as advertised. The Caesar salad is made from scratch according to the server, and tasted like it - quite good if you do the anchovies like you should. Nice atmosphere, great service.

Excellent meal with friends. Bratwurst was very good. As was the schnitzel. Onion soup too. Topped off with apple strudel and vanilla ice cream. Relaxed, clean, a nice little temporary get away from Mexico.

We absolutely love this restaurant. The food is always delicious and true German style. How can you go wrong with 2 for 1 schnitzel dinner which includes red cabbage and homemade spaetzle. We are going back on Wednesday for Rinde Rouladen and hopefully apple strudel.

Went for the 2 for 1 night. Very busy. Had a more relaxed meal there last year on a regular night. I wouldn't recommend Sunday night if you'd prefer a quieter meal but if saving a few pesos is worth it then join the crowd. Not complaining about the food or service, just not my idea of a relaxing meal.

Food here was the best part. We arrived with reservations, and we were the only ones there. We sat down and had some great bread and our servers were kind. We were the only ones there, however, the food still took quite a while to come out. Overall, would recommend.

The food was outstanding but once we got our meals the service disappeared. Never asked how the meal was, never asked about another drink, then finally asked about dessert. We ordered and waiting close to 30 minutes before getting one correct and one I correct dessert. Asked for a decaf coffee and was told they would check. No response. Finally got up to ask on second dessert and was told they were very busy and working on it. It finally came and then an “owner” came Ann asked what the problem was. We told her and she said a new person working and very busy on Sundays. We suggested the server was not new and he had ignored us for about 40 minutes. So her response was “ don’t leave a tip”. Didn’t hear us at all. So while the food was wonderful, the experience was not. Just a simple apology would have gone miles. Never received.
