Excellent. The food was great, atmosphere was great and the waiter was great. The only complaint was that the tortilla chips were SO thin it was sad.
Chicken enchiladas were awesome. Live their salsa as well.
Get great Mexican food at a great location in San Marcos. Family atmosphere and clean booths and tables. Sat in the bar area and had an amazing waitress “Lindsay” who did a phenomenal job! Definitely coming back!!! In fact, we bought a fajita box for our office Christmas luncheon and set up at the office. Worth every penny!
Andrea needs a raise, she was amazing! Handling so many tables by herself when a party of 60 came in outside. She’s an amazing waitress and made sure everyone had what they needed. Food was great.
My family comes here every weekend and we always have a great experience. Thank you for the manager and the server that took care of us today (sorry I forgot your names). They reminded us why Chuys is our preferred restaurant.
Came by here on my way home with my wife, teen boys and older brothers after skydiving a few miles east of Chuy's. We were seated within 5 minutes during the height of lunch time. The prices were lower than the Chuy's in Austin, the service was great as usual and the food was also great as usual. We've only had a bad time at one Chuy's and that was the newer Hutto location. Would eat here again!
This place is just amazing! Their creamy jalapeno salsa is one of my favorites. My personal favorite dish is their Chicka chicka boom boom chicken enchiladas. It’s got a nice kick to it so if you don’t like spice I wouldn’t get it. I order a side of sour cream and it helps with the spice. My son ordered their beef burrito and he said it was flavorful. Everyone loved their meals and they came out HOT! 10/10 recommend!!!

Went with family and had a delicious meal…ample servings!! My BIL had a dish called the Elvis Presley. I will need to check on their website to see why it is called that!
The rice used to be 5-star, it is not that anymore and this was not an isolated instance. I used to enjoy the many choices from the menu however ever since the menu has changed, well Chuy's is not th…
The food was exceptional good. The bartender took care of us. Wait wasn’t too long. Only thing is that our waiter had one too many tables. He wasn’t able to fully take care of us. We only saw him 3 times. The first time we saw him he took our drink order. The second time he took our food order and the third time he gave us our checks. There was no time we saw him In between.
The wait staff was very informative; Great service. Food was good and place was clean.

Food is always good. Jalapeño cream sauce is awesome. \nDrinks are usually good not expensive. \nThe one thing I'm not happy about is the bar tender spending the majority of her time with a custome…
The hot sauce was good and hot. The prices were a bit steep for 2 cheese enchiladas. But they were a genuine Tex-Mex combo. The bathrooms and tables were clean and there wasn't a crowd at 6:00 on a…
chips, salsa and queso were good. Beef fajitas were ... Service was good at 1st then I guess she went on break

I've dined at several Chuys locations and have always been satisfied with the food and service. This location is no different. The portions are generous and the drinks are always consistently made.…
It had been at least two years since I’ve gone to a chewy‘s restaurant. This time I visited the one in San Marcos and was actually disappointed. I always have the chicken enchiladas. The chicken was very dry and it just looked like they reheated dry chicken. There was no flavor will not be going back to Chuy’s again.
Wait staff was nice. Took a long time, the steak fajita was over cooked but soft otherwise unremarkable. The appetizers were actually really good. My coworkers likeed the drinks.
We love the food at chuys but our experience wasn’t the usual. We were sat without silverware and napkins… we had to wave down staff when we received our food since we had nothing to eat it with. My fiancé grabbed napkins from the bartender. We also wished we were checked on by our server more often.
Ordered for the first time but I wish I knew it was Tex Mex. I don't know what it is but at Tex Mex Restaurants they don't use the same seasoning for Beans and Rice as Authentic places. I was happy about being surprised with chips but I was disappointed to find out they aren't made in house. The enchilada was okay but I don't think I would eat here a second time. The food isn't bad but its just not Authentic and Idk if they use too much Paprika or Ancho Chile Spice or something but you can taste it in everything.
Was okay. No green sauce anymore for the table :-(. Salad was good and a good portion. Enchiladas were not great. Disappointed. The quality of food has gone downhill

I’ve enjoyed Chuy’s at other locations, but the San Marcos branch fell short. I ordered the enchiladas with red chili sauce, and unfortunately, the sauce tasted like canned paste—flat, metallic, and …
Showed up about noon. Expecting after just opening for the day everything would be great. Half hearted and disappointed. Got my appetizer with the regular chips salsa and jalapeno ranch. Added the queso compuesto. Sorry, but I was disappointed here too. Minimum amount of barely half a small bowl of queso. Cold meat scoop, but the guacamole and salsa were nice and cold as they should be. First let down of the visit. Chips were cold and left a greasy feeling in my mouth. We let our waiter/server (Cody) know and he immediately brought another basket. Not hot but slightly warmer. They were acceptable. Got our drinks: strawberry daiquiri and a long island ice tea. Cody knows how to make a drink. I gotta give him an A+++. He was by far one of the best bartenders in a long time at any restaurant I go for drinks. Ordered a Taco/Enchilada combo plate. Again warm only.... Not hot. The Taco was cold. My wife took 1 bite and then gave it to me. I almost didn't eat it either because of the temperature being barely warm. Had a few more drinks and still hungry so we order 1/2 order of Pancho's. Extra guacamole and onions. Again... Warm but not hot. Overall it was a marginally acceptable visit. The best part was the service that Cody tried and was better than most at the drinks. I will definitely be back for drinks and not too sure about the food. It tastes ok but the temperature was a disappointment. Spent a good $100. Yes, because of the drinks probably but that is what made it good. Thanks Cody. I know you tried but the kitchen was not up to the normal quality of what I'm expecting.
Slow service and lukewarm food. Ordered tortilla soup and it took an hour to arrive. Was served barley lukewarm and mostly carrots for some reason. The menu did not say it has carrots, it said it had green chilies, cheese tortilla strips, corn and tomato but it was mostly all carrots and lukewarm. Not an enjoyable experience. I would recommend going to one of the many other wonderful options for texmex in the area. San Marcos has many great locally owned Mexican restaurants to choose from.
My rating is based on to go orders..I love the steak burrito.. It is literally the only thing I have ever ordered from.. however, it is always either the cheese is not melted and it is still cold inside, there is not enough sauce, but today has been my particular favorite.. Today, there was no sauce and the cheese was burnt.. And yes, I still ate it, because what else was I supposed to do??
The sweet and unsweet tea here is AWFUL. You can't even taste the tea, it tastes like straight water and the sweet tea has less sugar than your typical half & half. This is Texas, how the hell can yo…

I've ordered $40 worth of chips and queso several times over last few months for my family and it always comes with 2 tiny bags of chips usually burnt chips\n.
If you’re from the RGV 956 don’t stop here you will be disappointed the Mexican rice not so Mexican along with the gross favor refried beans not any better. Store bought flour tortillas nothing authentic here. Everything was disgusting.Music also was so annoying Chuy’s your better off selling hot dogs and chicken nuggets. Oh Mexican microwaved rice and mushy was a huge disappointment the fajitas had no flavor at all. Run away from here but it was our mistake when you’re Mexican and think any place north of The Rio Grande Valley will be any good nope. The only thing kind of edible was the fajita. Well the ones that were cooking correctly. Service was so so.
Horrible service!!! It’s not often I take the family out to dinner but never again at chuys San Marcos. The incredible wait time to get your food ( i probably ate 4 baskets of chips before getting our actual food) waitress never checked on us we always had to flag someone to either get refills etc…. Finally when we actually got our food come to realize we didn’t have any utensils to eat. After 10 minutes of the food in our face not able to eat it we flagged a woman in pigtails which rudely dropped the silverware in a pile like we inconvenience her. That’s not the topper. When we were getting ready to pay for our meal I literally stood from my chair in which another waitress pulls my chair from me to put the chair that I was still using to place at another table. I just gave her a look didn’t phase. Horrible service and will set foot in a chuys ever!!!!
Chicken Tortilla Soup. Might as well delete this item off the menu. Since Chuy’s was acquired by another company in October 2024 they have DRASTICALLY changed the recipe for a once truly authentic soup. What once breathed spice, cilantro, roasted corn, green chilis, and tender chicken now tastes like it came from a can. Where did the carrots come from? And Thyme? The flavor profile has been dulled into a chicken noodle soup Campbell can copy cat. I’m so disappointed and will not be ordering this again. What really made me want to post this review was the fact that the chicken literally feels dry… in a soup!! Used to be my favorite thing on the menu. Now it might be the reason I avoid the place altogether.
Not the best experience. Server was nice, but would disappear for long stretches. It wasn't busy at all. The guac tasted very bland. My boyfriend's food was undercooked and cold. My food was dry. The beans were super thick and not good. The rice tasted super bland also. I used to like Chuy's, but not so much after this visit.
I went with my girlfriend to eat, and we ordered the fajitas for two. When we got the fajitas, she tried to bite them, and there was a string in the meat. It was hard. I understand this isn’t the server’s fault so we were not mad we did say something, but he went into the kitchen and shortly after we saw the other servers laughing directly at us and they looked right at us. We would’ve tipped good, of course because that was not his fault after we told him we were planning on tipping good, but the fact that he went into the kitchen and laughed at us, was so disrespectful. Left and did not tip because we felt disrespected and uncomfortable being there after being laughed at by the staff
