They rely heavily on their music. Bluegrass can be really fun. However, this is the most MODEST, DOWN-TO-EARTH place is San Marcos. I ordered a drink for myself as well as my girlfriend and they made me go get it at the counter. Again, it’s okay, but whoever owns it is full of love and respect for their customers. It’s way too expensive. If the bluegrass band didn’t come on Wednesday, they’d be out of business. A truly (I’m not your mom-come and get your drink at the counter like an adult) establishment.
Apparently the music here is so good that it’s carrying the entire business! However, this is the most HUMBLE place in San Marcos. It’s unimaginable. I ordered a drink for myself as well as my girlfriend and they wouldn’t let me take it to the table. Again, it’s okay — whoever owns it obviously cares about what they do. It’s way too expensive… $6 when most places are charging $12. How dare they charge less! If that bluegrass band comes on Wednesday, they’re packed — clearly an indication of good business . A truly humble (“we better the community”) establishment.
This coffee shop was a great stop in San Marcos. It has an amazing vibe, and their lavender white mocha was the best coffee I’ve had in town. Plus, they’re pet-friendly!

Our weekly spot for great healthy food, a cup of coffee or a delicious house special drink. Owner and staff have made a modern day “Cheers” vibe for locals, and a perfect stop over for families and students. And a great music venture outside… our fave is Monday nights for open mic night.
I've been coming here for ages, and it's even better since it reopened post-Covid. Staff is amazing and friendly, food is delicious and they have options for everyone (GF bread, vegan food, meats, etc.). Favorites of mine are the build your own tacos and the hummus plate. Everything is loaded up with fresh ingredients. It's a local live music venue as well, fun and sometimes family-friendly depending on the band. There's a mostly fenced-in area with lots of picnic seating and chalk is available too for kids. The maté they make is so clean-tasting. All the coffee I've had here, from drip to fancy lattes, have been the best in town. They also have a great workspace/indoor seating area that's generally quiet and a nice vibe with a selection of well-spaced tables. In the winter it does get a bit chilly if you're in the back room, so bring a sweater! It's cozy, and they feature local artists each quarter. Come support a San Marcos staple.
Quaint little coffee shop with amazing service. We split the homemade hummus, pita and veggie plate. Everything was excellent. Nice art on the walls. It was cold outside, we had hot coffee to warm us up. But will come back on a warm day to hang out on the patio.
I hadn't visited here in years, and I was pleased with the service and quality of the coffee. I love the dog friendly outdoor seating. I'll be back soon!
I am a Hard Core Carnivore. I had the Cielos tacos (vegetarian) and they were delicious. My younger sister had the homemade tostadas with red and green salsa. Those were delicious. The drinks are also just right. All was well presented. Support our local San Martian!
Cute coffee shop with live music, great drinks,yummy snacks and sweet staff! Highly recommend the sweet potato fries and the busy bee 🐝
This place has a really comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. There’s a variety of seating options; you’re basically guaranteed to find a spot. I ordered the iced hibiscus tea with no sweetener. It was refreshing and the staff were very nice. I highly recommend!
2nd time to visit. Since reopening. Much nicer facility. Food has been as good as San Marcos has to offer. Beer and outside seating are still great.

So glad they reopened finally heard great things about it before COVID hit the scene, but definitely love the environment and the set up at that place. If your looking for coffee or all day breakfast this your spot or if want snack food to share or lunch this is your spot too. Has inside and outside seating so it's nice I also ordered the breakfast sandwich with the mate latte was great definitely coming back next time
Tantra’s back, baby! After an impressive remodel, Tantra is a beautiful, homey coffee shop with *fantastic* eats and drinks. They’re also promoting a live music scene which I’m really excited about. Coffee’s one of the best in town (re: cappuccino) and omg the lox bagel 👌🏼
Last review was 6 years ago!!! 5 stars then and 5 stars now. Food was good and hot. Lavender mate sour was delicious even after these past few years. Love the renovation of the place. Especially the three new restrooms. But also happy to come back here with my best friend. It's where our friendship began. Welcome back Tantra!!! Will be seeing you again soon.
Tantra reopened today. Lina, great recs for breakfast & coffee. So good came back for dinner with great recs from Isabella & wonderful cocktails poured by Jack! Super chill vibe with plenty of space to hang inside or out. Nighttime music & coffee!
There is an outside seating area with picnic tables too. There is a small stage for live music. They have some pastries and tacos available for breakfast.
Nice friendly service inside, but don’t bother going in the evenings for a coffee or any else not music related. They wanted to levy a 5$ tax just for walking in for a coffee just because there was a band outside that you couldn’t really hear inside anyway. I had a decent interaction with staff once before so we wanted to support them and got coffee to go. Never again.
The music was so high that I could hear it from about 400 feet from the establishment at a nearby H.E.B. I asked the owner to turn down the music since it was cause a LOT of pain to me. He refused. He started recording video of me. I felt like that he was threatening me.
