Limited seating otherwise the flavors are booming!! The portions were great the gumbo was sold out have to wait next week to try that....mouth watering as I type! Totally recommend oh and it's BYOB
Lovely staff! We sat outside because the place was packed and got our food pretty quickly! The owner also very swiftly corrected a small error on my friends order and check in on us later. 10/10 planning an outing so I can go again :)
I just love this place. I crave their fried catfish and shrimp. It is so flavorful. The filets are nice and thick. I have never gotten a filet that has the fishy, muddy tasting bloodline. Every time it is just perfectly great tasting crunchy fried fish. So awesome! It really is OMG seafood! The shrimp is a very good high quality shrimp. Customer service is awesome, too. The inside is nothing fancy, but it is clean, and when the food is that good, all you need is a table and a chair to enjoy it! Will be back tomorrow with a friend!!!
My daughter loves crawfish or how you say it ( Mudbugs ) from OMG. I have two daughters that were born in Louisiana. So they grew up eating crawfish. Not me!! Sorry to say. Lol!! But I do love eating the corn, sausage and mushrooms that they put in the crawfish boil. OMG really do have the best Cajun seafood in town
Great crawfish! Great fish! My wife loves crawfish, I'm happy to stick with fish, crab, and shrimp lol. OMG staff are always friendly & helpful; the restaurant is always clean. The food is tasty. I only wish they did boiled shrimp along with the fried. We highly recommend them and will continue to come!
I truly enjoy coming to OMG Seafood, so much that I've been coming once a week so far. For the passed three weeks. 😋 Tonight my boyfriend and I got # 1 Boiled Crawl fish and I got the #8 Shrimp Combo. The customer service is very pleasant. I was greeted from the moment I walked in and was told to have a great night when I walked out. I truly will be recommending this restaurant to my family and friends when they come to San Marcos Texas.
OMG is a small town seafood restaurant that is frankly...delicious! It does take some time to get your food, but considering they are breading the fish by hand and pulling the crawfish from a bag that looks like it is straight from Louisiana...you are getting good food. The place is small, so seating is limited, so so sitting outside is an option. Overall, a good spot for seafood.
Scrimp was excellent. Gumbo was OK...liquid was from crab boil bag and too much sausage but otherwise ok for Texas (it is not traditional south Louisiana gumbo per say). Worth the drive to eat here. In a tough part of town but I felt safe. Don't expect a nice restaurant as it is a dive both inside & out....if that bothers you, take out. Cooked fresh and hot.
Went there today for the first time. Ordered everything to go. The crawfish was absolutely delicious and very spicy. The shrimp was perfectly done and very tasty. The catfish was very good but there was only one fillet on the platter which was very disappointing. Sausage was “ok”. Potatoes and corn were also excellent. Not a lot of seating inside. It was kinda hot inside and the air was still with no fans so I wouldn’t have wanted to eat inside anyway. Plenty of seating outside though. And BTW, we were told you are welcome to BYOB beer and alcohol.
not the best smelling spot to eat your lunch. i understand, however, they have live crawfish in there just not the best method to keep smell from patrons. i had catfish. food was good. just took long for 2 pieces of fish, near 25min. need those young guys in the back to multi-task instead of asking each other for cigarillos.
Ok, so my gumbo was a) watery-bad roux b)no flavor. No spice, no flavor. I grew up on Cajun food my whole life in Houston with Louisiana friends cooking me some of the best gumbo in the world…. However what I will say was amazing about this place is the characters that came in here. I saw it inside for a little over an hour and talked to you about six different people. Some wonderful elderly people all had amazing stories. One knew my family from 40 years ago back in South Texas. I really want to like the food, but the owner needs to realize that that is not gumbo. And how about getting some bottles of Tabasco? And how about doing some recycling here? the level of waste was literally killing me. All the plastic and cans and everything being thrown away.
I used to enjoy this establishment. However, the Butter Sauce no longer tastes the same; it has developed an unusual flavor since my recent visits. Additionally, they charge an extra five dollars for butter, which does not seem to enhance the flavor. The shrimp and potatoes are heavily seasoned, to the point where I cannot enjoy them. Furthermore, when ordering a seafood boil, there is a waiting time of over thirty minutes for it to be heated adequately.
the boiled seafood is disgusting. i spent 50 dollars for 3lbs of crawfish and the platter 1 and everything was overcooked. the crawfish were rubbery and fell apart before the shell was off. they were also dirty and the overall flavor was lacking. the corn was the best thing about my meal.
Literally never had food that was so disgusting. First of all, it stinks so bad, I’ve never been in a restaurant that smelt so disgusting. Like it’s beyond disgusting. And then the boiled crawfish tasted like they just dipped it in swamp water and served it. The shrimp wasn’t any better and there’s no flavor or seasoning at all. As a Houston girlie I’m like appalled by the seafood here.
Update: called the store to let them know and figure it out and they told me they’ll give me $26 worth of cooked crawfish and a that’s all I wanted because I wanted to eat them… I pull up 30min later for the crawfish and they sold me they are sold out … I asked for a refund and I didn’t have my reciept so they told me no refund … what an establishment lmfao I’ve been here two times before this to get live crawfish to boil myself… and it’s been excellent eating but my third time going today I don’t know if I’d be back… bought 4lbs for $26 and I can safely say I’ll only be eating 1lb and should of only paid for 1lb. In the pictures the plastic bag is all the dead ones I have to forfeit.
