Fantastic classic, delicious smashburgers that are well-seasoned, crispy, and not too salty. Got the Freddy's Original Double on a soft but sturdy bun with cheese, pickles, onions, and a little mustard on the veggie side. I wish lettuce and tomato were options. Next time I'd have them hold the mustard, then customize myself from the condiment bar that offers ketchup, mustard, relish, mayo, and three orange "fry sauces" that are very similar: plain, jalapeno, and smoky. The fries are perfectly skinny, hot, and tasty. Service was fast and efficient, and the ambiance very clean and diner style.

You’ll be pulling them out of the basket like spaghetti noodles made of potato. 🧼 The place is spotless, with a cozy, classic atmosphere that makes you want to kick back and stay awhile. It’s got that “dinner with friends” energy, minus the dishes. 🥤 Now, about the drinks... they’ve got Pepsi products on tap 😕. If you're a Coca-Cola fan like me, it's a bit of a letdown. I mean, where’s the fizzy magic of a perfect Coke Zero? Still, the selection is decent if you're cool with Pepsi. 🍫🍨 But let’s end on a sweet note: the chocolate brownie custard is an absolute showstopper. Rich, creamy, and loaded with fudgy brownie chunks—it’s the kind of dessert that makes you forget your name for a second. Worth every spoonful. 🎯 Freddy's nails the comfort food game, even if the soda situation isn’t ideal. Come for the burgers, stay for the custard, and maybe bring your own Coke 😅.

Great variety of American "Classics", done right and dare I say even better than the normal classics you would expect! Double smashed steak burgers, like your classic double cheeseburger only better quality. The smashed style and probably higher quality meat make it have a lovely crispy sear that is quite delicious. They have some awesome extra toppings too, like grilled jalapeños, grilled onions, and sauerkraut (homemade?) which you can add. I highly recommend ordering through the app as I wouldn't have even known about those extra special (FREE) toppings otherwise, but now that I know I could order in person I am sure... if you know you know, otherwise you just don't know and that would blow! Also there are rewards to be had in the app, even occasional freebies and points you can redeem for freebies later when you earn enough. Buying in the app ensures you get your precious points! I haven't tried the hot dogs, onion rings, or cheese fries yet but I want to try them all! Yummy cheese curds, delicious Marinara sauce to pair and I also enjoyed them with ranch (Great Ranch!). Their custard shakes are fantastic as well. Oh yeah, and if you are a pickle fiend like me, their pickles are the BOMB! They are an American Classic style place, friendly excellent staff, clean facility, and all around a really positive enjoyable experience. Simple, yet elegant. No surprises in what you see is what you will get, yet it's so well done and has some great hidden surprises with Quality and other nice touches they definitely earned their 5 stars all across the board. I highly recommend this hidden gem. Worth the experience if you like this style of food and dining. Thank you and I hope you enjoy!

Tried it for the first time. The young man at the register was so kind and patient. Really spotlessly clean fun retro diner atmosphere with red seats and chrome. Play fun 80s tunes from my childhood. Tater tots, I'm not sure if they're visibly on the menu, but they are amazing. I think they're dipped in some kind of a seasoned corn flake batter, so they are extra crunchy and delicious! I got Freddy's Original Double, and it is a tasty smash style burger, cooked up fresh to order. I could not go to Freddy's without trying the frozen custard. I decided to go for a concrete, which is sort of like a really thick milkshake, so you can use a spoon. I swear I ordered the mini but it is huge! I can't even imagine what the regular size looks like! I love Frozen Custard ever since I first tried it visiting relatives in Pennsylvania, and Freddy's does not disappoint! Overall I would say I was very impressed with my first visit and I would make the drive to come back.

Absolutely perfect fast/casual burger joint. Food was great and the lobby and kitchen were kept very clean. I came in during busy hours on 4th of July and they were very efficient with service. Food comes out in a couple minutes made fresh. Customer service is exceptional. I was helped by Jose, Gabe, and Sam. They were very nice to me and they know how to be patient. If you’re looking for good food and good customer service, look no further. I will definitely be back!

The food and frozen custard are awesome. We really loved having dinner at the Freddys. The patty is nice and all other ingredients are very fresh. However the staffs were not as kind and welcoming. Was poor at explaining the food and menu. I thought some of the staffs at the counter were unprofessional. Overall food was good but service was not as good

The only Freddy’s in Southern California! It had a drive thru and sit down. The menu is simple with steak burgers and frozen custard. We got a California-Style steak burger and the original double with bacon. The only difference, the California style has lettuce and tomatoes. We prefer the California over the double bacon. It had the perfect smashed thin patty with crispy edges. I love the bun being soft. We got tater tots and added chili. Next time we would ask for chili on the side because it made the tots soggy. You had a choice of shredded cheese or melted cheese. We had melted, but we think shredded would be better with a different flavor. Can’t leave the place without ordering a custard. Choice of concrete (multi-layers), shake (mixed like a drink) or sundae (toppings). We got strawberry dream cake concrete. It had vanilla custard with strawberry purée, cake pieces and cinnamon streusel. I was against ordering it but ended up finishing the entire cup! Don’t forget to get the sauce! We got Smokey, jalapeño and famous. Smokey was the least favorite.

Upon entering, it was evident that customer satisfaction was a top priority for the staff. Despite being the sole patrons during our visit, the attention to detail and efficiency in service remained unwavering. Ample parking, spacious seating, and pristine surroundings further enhanced the dining experience. As for the food, it was very good. The burgers, reminiscent of old-fashioned diner classics, were a symphony of greasy goodness that left me yearning for more. Cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor, they were a true indulgence for the senses. And let's not forget about the fries – thin, crispy, and delightfully stringy, they served as the perfect accompaniment to the main course. In conclusion, Freddy's in SM has good burgers and nice atmosphere. With its delectable offerings, serene ambiance, and attentive service, it's sure to become a favorite haunt for those craving a taste of nostalgia and culinary excellence.

They have good hamburgers but man their grilled chicken is disgusting..... like rubber and very obviously pre cooked then frozen..yuk! When the fried chicken is better than the grilled it definitely a quality and sourcing issue. Love the staff!

The service and the environment of the place it's good. I was expecting an amazing burger because all the hype I have watched in social media, but it is an average burger, good but not that good.

The place was nice and clean. Service was good. Food was ok, but for the price I was hoping to get a normal beef patty portion, not sure if it is the style of the hamburger, but if so... Then I think they are expensive. Onion rings, cheese fries and the milk shakes are good.

The food was not very good for over 30$. Got 1 smash burger, 2 chilli fries with cheese (if you can find the cheese). Frozen drinks were great. Cheese curds were very salty and not fresh.

When I saw "STEAK BURGER" on the front of the restaurant, my mind told me that the burger would be a few notches above McDonalds or Burger King. I was totally shocked to find the patties super thin with overcooked edges. The fries were good. I threw half the burger? away. The staff appeared unfriendly and not very knowledgeable about the product. This was at noon 8/22 San Marcos.
