We were in from out of town to watch Sunday football. Sydnee is by far the best bartender we’ve come across in Santa Monica. Nice beer selection and solid bar food

St Patty's Day and a full house for lunch. Fish and chips in alight batter with peas and steak fries accompanied by Smog City beer. Great live music and friendly crowd.

Old style Irish Pub. High quality Pub food, warm friendly service in great company at the bar. Best chili in town.

Really good menu with lots of tasty options, ranging from traditional pub fare to more modern favorites, some with a nice twist. Really good meaty wings, the Bahn mi was tasty, great fries with a variety of sauce options, and a comprehensive beer and spirit menu. Can't go wrong here.

Best Irish breakfast you can get (only on the weekends) plus Guinness on tap! The food here does not disappoint but the real star of the show is the bacon! Plenty of TV's with all the games you can wish for and the best bartender/waitress around (Tracy) with a thick Scottish accent!

Hate Boston teams with every fiber of my being, but this place is *STILL* 5 stars because of the chill vibe, the other sports options on a given day, good food and really cool staff. It truly pains me to support Boston cheater/deflate-tangent factions in any way but I will do it here because if anyone deserves it they do (be warned the mural is triggering af)

Great neighborhood pub with wide selection of beers on tap and surprisingly stellar pub food. Live music some nights, karaoke others, or just play the juke box (every song available). Packed for any and all New England/Boston sports, so plan accordingly! Open until 2am, serving food until about 1pm, which comes in handy!

This place is an institution. I've gone for lunch and never disappointed. The meals are delicious. The service depending on the day and the of day is amazing. I mean, what do you expect from an Irish bar. But hey, you'll get the full experience. I highly recommend it.

If you miss the New England crowd for a sports event and "Irish" like bar then Sonnys is the place for you. Good food. Good New England crowd. (Honestly the guilty pleasure is walking out after a New England win into the Santa Monica sunshine as opposed to the New England ice and snow is AWESOME.)

Best Boston bar on the West Coast, lots of TVs and friendly staff to change the games if necessary -- if I'm in town and there's a Sox/Pats/Celts/Bruins game on, I know where I'm stopping. Never had a bad bite (at decent prices for Santa Monica) and they've usually got a great on-tap selection as well.

Irish public great food and great staff. Full bar. Karaoke some nights and live music on others. Pool table in the back and some darts boards on the sides. If you're a Boston sports fan, you'll really love it.

So this bar is one of a kind. I don't mean just for LA, I mean one of a kind. Why do I say that? Well, the answer lies in one of the awesome beers that they have available which is from the first and original brewery before all breweries from literally a thousand years ago or longer and it is so tasty and it has no hops it's just a wheat blend. It's got a very strong alcohol content, but it's very, very light, and it's not bitter or hopsy at all. Besides an awesome menu for anything else you might like from Pizza, to appetizers, to Irish food, to many other things on tap, there is a outdoor area, it's never too loud, staff is very nice and attentive, the vibe is awesome, and it's a very safe location if you're looking to meet somebody for the first time and you just want to check them out. There's a pool table and good music and sports TV's......have fun. I'll see you there!

Great atmosphere, large range of beers and great food.

I have been here once, in the early part of 2019. It was the only place, that was open in the early morning of 10 AM. The place was spacious and clean. There was ample of space to sit down, and enjoy a drink. The prices, for the location, were quite fair. Definitely, if anyone is in Santa Monica, I would recommend to stop by this location. Especially, on weekends, since it is one of the few places, that is open around 10 AM.

Great vibe, excellent service. DAISY was our server, and she was fantastic. The food came out super fast. I had the fish and chips and it was a tad overcooked, I also had the clam chowder and it was freaking AMAZING! They still get 5 stars. I would definitely recommend this place, and I will be back!

Came in a few weeks ago on a Sunday morning for breakfast. I was in town for a funeral. I was the only patron there. Bar tender was pretty sharp as we had a wide-ranging series of conversations. His name was Brian. Top-notch experience, good food, and atmosphere!

Great outdoor patio, they clearly invested in the space. Feel very safe- tables are very socially distant, they do contact tracing, the staff wears masks and visors, and j think they temperature checked us at the door. Staff is always super nice and accommodating. Went on a Saturday evening and they were full, but we only had to wait a few minutes for a table.

I like sports bars and this 1 is great! Everyone and everything was pleasant and happy. It was so much fun, so friendly, and so enjoyable!

Major Pats bar - so just be aware of that if you decide to come. Came here to watch Sunday football with some friends - the place has converted their outdoor back lot to a patio which is great. They have a big screen TV back there but just beware you can only watch 1 game which is kind of a "majority rules all" unless the Pats are on (can call in advance to find out what they'll expect to show). New COVID requirement is that it is a minimum of $45/pp spend - good thing is: if you call in advance and if they have spots, they'll take a reservation. The place wasn't too crowded so it thankfully wasn't hard to get a table - not sure if it's also bc of the wildfires/air quality/ppl not wanting to sit outside (personally, my allergies started to act up quite badly the longer I was out). I liked how their menu is more than just the typical bar food - it has a New England spin. Staff is very attentive and all wear masks so I felt safe. Good option for a place to watch sports.

As someone born & raised in Boston, it was so nostalgic to find this restaurant owned by the same, brought me right back! The atmosphere was great, sports on the TV, decorations of sports legends through the years and great food. Though the menu boasts a wonderful selection of Irish fare, there are also some New England specialties like Lobstah Rolls and fried clams (but only with bellies). Real neighborhood pub type atmosphere and great service!

One of the best places to watch the Patriots games in LA. Great atmosphere but it can get real jam packed so get there early. Good drinks. Good food. Big Screens everywhere. Can’t miss the action. Shina was our server and she was fantastic. I was gona leave 4 stars but she made it 5. Very friendly and nice and polite. Always on top of it. Helped us with food and drinks. I always come back if the staff is nice and welcoming like this.

It is a great Irish Pub, I have been here several weeks ago, after voting in my old country's election at Consulate office. It was only place open in the morning, so I decided to give it a chance. So far, I do not regret stopping by this establishment. The drinks were fairly priced, and it was enjoyable ambiance to sit down and enjoy free time on weekend. Definitely, I would recommend a visit to this establishment. In addition, they serve meals!

Solid Irish pub. Checks all the boxes of what you’d expect. Pretty decent food, lots of tvs, tasty Guinness. Not really a party bar most days, but a good environment to watch the game. Plenty of space and a large patio for overflow.

Found this place kind of by accident but really enjoyed it. Our Scottish server was a queen and went out of her way to make us feel at home. They made us some Irish nachos and I enjoyed the pizza. Will certainly go back if we ever go back to that part of L A

Really great Irish pub, went on Super Bowl Sunday so it was packed. Fun karaoke and very divey. Very solid drinks. makes you feel as if you're on the east cost.

I grew up outside Boston then 11 years ago I move to California to chase my dreams of stand up comedy and screenwriting. From time to time I miss Boston with all my heart there are times I think to myself Why I'm still here in Los Angeles I should move back to Boston and give up my silly dreams!!!!!!!!!! Then I found my second family my home away from home I found Sonny's McLean's Irish Pub...... Sonny's is not just a pub to me is a place in which the people who work there care how your day went, they care about how you are. Sonny's is my second family is a place from the moment you open the door you feel like you belong!!!!!!! That's how a pub should feel like home!!!!!!!!!! I can't drive so I take the bus everywhere in Los Angeles, people ask me why do I take the hour in a half trip to my home to Sonny's....... Then with a smile on my face I tell them, No matter how far the trip is is always great to see your family!!!!!!! That's what Sonny's is at the end of the day FAMILY! A place in which you always welcome............. What else can you ask for????

Great Irish Pub. Excellent fried clams. Good beer selection. I’d give it 5 stars but they’re a Boston based bar and I can’t give 5 stars for a place that roots for the patriots and the Red Sox. But I guess this is the place to go if you’re into that kind of thing. Rounded down from 4.5. Didn’t run into Whitey Bulger either. Disappointed.

A little pricey, but great bar fare. I'm not fan of Boston sports so I stay away on Game Days... but a great place any day of the week. Friendly staff 2 Dart boards, karaoke, live music and a pool table in the back. It's my neighborhod spot.

They have decent cocktails, delicious food, & a dozen or so beers on tap that they rotate. They also have pool tables, a dart board, outdoor bench, live music, karaoke, plenty of seating, a teeny tiny parking lot in the back meant for employees. However, there is street parking on Wilshire or 26th. I would give it $$ outta 4 for the pricing. There's a lot to keep you busy.

Being from Boston, I LOVED Sonny McLean's, it was like a home away from home! The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because I thought the mozz. sticks I ordered were pretty terrible. But hey, the beer was good and it was a great atmosphere. I'll be back.

I used love this place 10-12 years ago under a different owner.. it fun bar Tenders.. most of the Patrons where from New England...it has Definitely has Changed over the years with the new owners..

Food is trying too hard to be upscale and the prices reflect that. It's good, but pricey for bar food. That said, the boneless Buffalo chicken is delicious.

Fun atmosphere to watch a Patriots game but the food continues to disappoint visit after visit. We were shocked when the $10 fried pickle appetizer we ordered came out to our table with seven small battered and fried pieces of pickle. Seven. On a giant plate it looked ridiculous. We asked the waitress if this is really what we get for $10, she said yes, we asked to speak to a manager and there wasn't one on site yesterday. Completely disappointing. If we are back for another game, we will be sure to eat before we show up at Sonny's.

We tried the burger (dry and bland) and fried pickles (cut too thick and somehow bland). I wish I had just stuck with drinks. Nice, friendly staff. Typical Irish pub. I have been coming to Sonny's on and off for 23 years. I love the Irish pub atmosphere and all of the great experiences I have had there. However, in my latest visit, I was again (third time in a row) somewhat disappointed by the excessive prices and lackluster service. The other thing I don't appreciate is a 5% surcharge for paying by credit card rather than cash, a surcharge that is only noted in the fine print of the bill. Sonny's illustrious history is being slightly tainted by some price gouging these days, IMHO. Oh, and BTW, just because it's after 8:30 pm PT and there are no more live sports on doesn't mean you should just show local TV news and infomercials...you're a sports bar, so please act like it. It was still a decent experience, but not close to what it used to be.

Great Boston Bar! Haven't been there in 10 years. Looks like a different owner. It used to be better Waitress was never around. I know they had one. Just lazy i guess. Not sure if the guy who carded me at the door was working there or was a patron messing with me. Had a drink. Very nice bar maid. Sat down to order food . Never saw a waitress. Got up. And left. Maybe they should change owners again.

I read all the reviews and am kind of surprised by all the positivity.. the waitress proceeded to try to tell me what a pint was. Like I don't know the difference between am American pint and an emperial pint... I tried to explain and she got annoyed and was rude repeating the fact that the 16 ounce was a a pint not the 20 ounce. The bagers in the bangers and mash the bangers were burnt and not flavorful.. just for the record I tipped 20% because I'm not a dueshe bag .. but do better Nat do better

Service was very rude. Ignored a majority of the people in favor of one group. I waited patiently and when it was finally my turn to order, the bartender could not have been more rude. Terrible experience when there are so many better options around it. Try O’Briens or Jamesons if you want a better time.

Had fish and chips, it was tastless and soggy. The way the bartender poured a Guinness was a crime. They didn't bother tilting the glass or pouring it it 2 parts like it's supposed to be just placed it under the tap and filled it up in one go and then served it straight up without letting it settle. Definitely won't be going back

Food was okay, but the fresh, full glass of beer I was served had the bottom fall out dumping beer all over myself, my phone, and the girl I was with. Bartender told me he'd comp the next two drinks, then the bill showed up with both drinks on it. I called him on it and he comp'd one. Left sticky and ticked off. There are other irish pubs with better food and better atmosphere just a few blocks away.

This was probably the worst experience and treatment by staff that I’ve ever experienced in a bar. My friend turned 22 today, and after declaring his ID fake, they kicked our entire group of 30 legal adults out of the bar. Our friend is insecure about his height, and the bar tenders and security guard made sure that this was at the front of his mind on his birthday. They were disrespectful, belittling, and downright unintelligent The irony of it is they do sell to underage people on a daily basis. The only upside is they lost legitimate business tonight. Do not come here if you want to have a fun night with friends, it will likely end in disappointment.

For the first time in my entire life, I know what it's like to be invisible, first time has quickly become my last..Wife and I ended being a couple of hours early to her appointment so me being the Pub lover I am decided we'd grab a bite and have a couple of drinks ,walked in to a partially full bar and a small group at a table in the back. Because we'd never been here didn't know how things went, should we have made our presence know to get service, who knows, all I know is we sat waiting and ended up leaving. That's what I get for assuming all Irish Pubs are as welcoming as others have been Thanks Sonny's for proving me wrong. So I leave you with an old Irish saying that I feel is appropriate . "May those who love us, love us. And those that don't love us, May God turn their hearts. And if He doesn't turn their hearts, May he turn their ankles, So we'll know them by their limping."

Food was ok. Service was horrid. I had to flag down waiters who glanced at me then would walk away. Only one waiter did their job and asked if I was helped. They were keen to charge me, not provide decent service. I'd rather go to Denny's than here. I'd have told the owners, but I'd probably be ignored too. I was a seasonal server assistant someplace, and I did 2x as good as these people. All I did was wait for them to do their job.

They were keen to charge me, not provide decent service. I'd rather go to Denny's than here. I'd have told the owners, but I'd probably be ignored too. I was a seasonal server assistant someplace, and I did 2x as good as these people. All I did was wait for them to do their job.

Bartender ruined my trip here yesterday. She’s busy I understand but she walked away 3 times while she is in the middle of taking my order I’m standing there legit 15minutes waiting for her to come back. then never puts my food order in. Skinny Girl black wavy hair….find a new job
