Had a fantastic lunch experience at Broken Yolk in Santee. The food was delicious, and the little details make a difference—their freshly brewed iced tea was perfect. The highlight was our server, Anthony. He did an excellent job of making sure our meal was absolutely perfect from start to finish. We always enjoy coming here for breakfast or lunch, and today was no exception!

Broken Yolk is the quintessential brunch destination, and they absolutely crushed it. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was buzzing with happy energy and the staff made us feel incredibly welcome, especially our server who was attentive and genuinely friendly. The food here is simply outstanding. I ordered the Border Benedict, and it was a revelation. The perfectly poached eggs, seasoned carne asada, and homemade poblano sauce over sweet corn cakes was a combination of flavors I won't forget. My dining companion had the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes, which were fluffy, decadent, and tasted exactly like a cinnamon roll in pancake form. The portions are more than generous, ensuring you get great value for your money. While they were busy, as any popular brunch spot should be, our food arrived quickly, hot, and fresh. The coffee was excellent and kept flowing, which is crucial for a leisurely brunch. Whether you're a local or just visiting, Broken Yolk is a must visit. The food is consistently delicious, the service is top notch, and the whole experience leaves you happy and satisfied. We'll be back for sure!

Had brunch for my cousin’s birthday on Monday. The bottles of champagne kept coming, service was great, food was delicious… what a fun place to brunch with some friends! Nikki, the bartender, is pretty awesome too!

Had a great experience! The food was fresh and tasted really good, and the restaurant was clean with a nice, welcoming atmosphere. Our server, Dawn, was fantastic. She was friendly, attentive, and made some great suggestions that we ended up enjoying. She struck the perfect balance of being available when we needed her while also making the experience feel genuine and personal. The food came out quickly, and everything from start to finish was smooth and enjoyable. Definitely recommend checking this place out if you’re in the area. Also, the OJ here is pretty fire.

My review for Maria at Broken Yolk Cafe is nothing short of five stars! She consistently delivers an exceptional dining experience. Every time I've been there, Maria has been incredibly friendly, making us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we walk in. What truly sets her apart is her amazing ability to remember our orders—it's such a personal touch that makes you feel valued as a customer. She's also remarkably fast and efficient, getting food and drinks out quickly without ever compromising on accuracy. And through it all, she remains incredibly attentive, always seeming to know when we need a refill or an extra napkin. Maria embodies everything you could ask for in a server and consistently makes dining at Broken Yolk Cafe a fantastic experience. Update: my friend ordered some onion springs this morning. Look at this perfectly cooked stack of GBD, golden brown and delicious, onion rings. I'm not a huge onion ring fan, but the side of these made me want to dig in. I should have ordered my own set.

Another amazing Broken Yolk location! Definitely my favorite breakfast chain, always a great environment that makes you feel on vacation. Food was incredible, we ordered the hash skillet and border Benedict. Loved the coffee, iced mocha latte and chai tea lattes. Great service, friendly, sweet, and quick. Dog friendly patio. Highly recommend!

Sunday brunch here with my grandmother. Food was great, service was pretty good and the atmosphere was good, but loud. We had to wait about 15 mins for a table, but there is some seating outside so that was helpful. There were quite a few tables open when we put our name on the list - maybe they were short a server...not sure. Our food took a bit to come but once it did we were all happy with our orders. I had the Cali Breakfast burrito, my wife had the Mom Omelette, my daughter chose Grilled Chicken and Waffles and my grandmother had a side order of Biscuits and Gravy (they brought more gravy for her once she was nearing the end). Overall the food was very good and I'd come back again, but may choose to sit outside because of the noise level.

Brunch at the Broken Yolk Cafe and loved it! I tried the American breakfast with two eggs, corned beef hash, fries (unique) a blueberry muffin, and chai tea, everything was delicious. My friend ordered the Sope Benedict, fresh fruits, and a pumpkin latte, which she really enjoyed. Just a heads-up: weekends are always packed, so it’s best to make a reservation. We waited over 30 minutes, but it was worth it. We got a perfect spot, enjoyed great food, a nice ambiance, and good service.

We always enjoy visiting our local Santee Broken Yolk!! We were so hungry, I didn't think to take pictures! But we want to give a great big shout out to our lovely server Maria!!! 😀🎉 She was absolutely wonderful from beginning to end!! She brought us smiles and we are excited to return to see her and enjoy our favorite meals again!!

I mean overall a great place to come eat. The place has a nice vibe to it. Lighting is good and service is just amazing if you get Mrs Kathy you’ll know she was wonderful and just a joyful person she’s amazing. Food took a while but this place is kinda packed so what do you expect.overall no complaints and I highly recommend to come here.

Maria was amazing! Our food came out in minutes and each item we asked for was made exactly how we liked it. My husband is a sauce person and she made sure we had all the sauces and things we needed without us confirming or re-requesting. This is definitely our new breakfast spot when we visit San Diego

My wife and I came for breakfast today after our gym session. Let me just say, hands down our best breakfast experience ever! Our hostess got us in promptly, our service was excellent. Maria was an absolute delight, she was professional, curtious, and we had a couple good laughs. Her attitude and demeanor is something everyone should strive for.

Pretty great dishes, we had the cinnacakes and chilaquiles. The server was friendly and the owner was present on the floor. Great job yall. I’d been to BYC in mission valley and almost wrote you off because of an experience from 10 years ago. Glad my man brought me here ✨ we liked the music, too. And we’ll probably be back to your bar.

Eggs, hash browns, bacon and biscuits was one our choices. Next we ordered the loaded omelette, hash browns, biscuit and gravy. The service was good and the ambiance was clean, modern and upbeat. I would recommend for a quick breakfast.

We waited 6 minutes to put in our drink orders, and they came out in 7 minutes. My companions ordered bloody Mary's, coffee, and a messy cuppachino. All were given great reviews. We waited 7 minutes to put in our food order, and the food was received 18 minutes after. The food was a 5/10. The gravy was taseless, and the eggs too thick in the croissant sandwich. The croissant was not flaky ir airy. The eggs Benedict was okay, very lukewarm. The turkey sausage was delicious. The avocado salmon toast was oily, and the salmon was lukewarm and a bit fishy. The french fries were golden and crispy. The biscuits on the biscuits and gravy were well baked and very good. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great. Very hustle and bustle. The booths were comfortable. There are plenty of benches inside and outside the restaurant for waiting patrons. The bathrooms were very clean. The parking lot is large and we had no trouble finding a spot.

We were seated right away, so that was nice. After we finally got to order, I had the Biscuits and Gravy and it was horrible! The biscuits were hard and the lack of gravy was a joke!! Our server was Luke. He came by our table 1 time because I flagged him down! He was at the bar talking to some girls and ignoring his customers. Yes we were seated in the bar area. Very unprofessional! I could see others getting frustrated as well. We go here quite often and this was the worst! I can’t post pictures of my food as it won’t allow me to. But I’m sure there was no more than a teaspoon of gravy on each biscuit! 😡

We visited The Broken Yolk Café at the Santee Trolley Station for the first time in years. My son hadn’t been there since he was a baby, so we were looking forward to it. When we arrived, we stood at the host stand for about five minutes without being acknowledged and almost left. Eventually, we were seated. Once seated, I will say the service afterward was good—our server was attentive and kind. My son enjoyed his club sandwich and had no complaints. Unfortunately, my chicken sandwich was not good. It had an excessive amount of sauce—so much that I honestly couldn’t eat it. At $18, that was disappointing. I didn’t want the food to go to waste, so I chose to give it to someone in need. When I mentioned the issue later, the manager said it could have been remade if I had said something earlier, but at that point it was “too late.” She did offer a coupon for a waffle and mentioned they’re very good, which I appreciated—but overall, the experience left me unsatisfied. This was just our experience. The service was good, but the food did not meet expectations, and unfortunately, I won’t be returning.
