Just two of us on a date night to celebrate our 41st anniversary. We had a reservation and were seated right away. While being seated, I asked for a table further from the front door. The hostess immediately took care of it. Our server, Tia was amazing from the get-go. She was welcoming, friendly, professional, and willing to give recommendations. (which is rarer than you think) We were there just in time for Happy Hour and the drinks were good. We ordered the Trio Snack to munch on with our cocktails & wine. For food, we just picked three appetizers for both of us to share, the dumplings, croquettes, and octopus salad. All three were excellent and plentiful! One additional note: the staff worked together well, refilling water, bringing food and drinks, and answering our questions. Tia even brought us Champagne for our anniversary celebration. Overall an excellent experience and we will definitely be back.
Municipal Grand Bar is an absolute gem in Savannah. The drinks are exceptional and thoughtfully crafted, with their extensive wine and whiskey selections, beautifully presented, and full of flavor without being overdone. The servers are warm, knowledgeable, and make great recommendations based on what you like. The atmosphere is classy yet relaxed, with just the right vibe for a date night, girls’ night out, or a laid-back evening with friends. Service is quick, the ambience is great, and every drink feels like a treat. Easily one of Savannah’s new best spots. Highly recommend!
Municipal Bar on Broughton Street is a fantastic new spot inside the ground floor of the brand-new Municipal Grand Hotel. The space has a stylish mid-century modern design, and it’s cool knowing the bar is located in the old municipality building where Savannah residents once paid their water bills. We went for our 32nd anniversary, and while the small lounge-style table seating wasn’t the most comfortable for dining, everything else about the experience more than made up for it. Our server, Chase, an architecture student at SCAD, was wonderful—friendly, thoughtful, and very knowledgeable. Drinks were excellent: I had an Old Fashioned, and my wife enjoyed a crisp Italian white. For starters, we ordered the octopus and sourdough dumplings—both were outstanding. For dinner, we shared the whole branzino, which was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. On the side, we had carrots and potatoes. The potatoes came in a heavier cream sauce—rich but tasty. Overall, a memorable experience with upscale vibes, great service, and delicious food. Highly recommend!
Second visit didn’t disappoint. We had the banana daiquiri (light refreshing and too easy to drink) and we tried the fried chicken sandwich which was big enough for us to share. Or server was good and space is really cool.
Municipal Bar was fabulous for brunch! I shared everything with a friend we got the mini bloodies and beer combo for drinks which was only $10. Then later ordered a full bloody at $16, it being a very delicious tasting Bloody Mary. The Carolina Gold Rice Porridge was a favorite for me, with currants, coconut, carrots and pistachios. The Frittata Sando with sausage was phenomenal and hit the breakfast crave. Don’t skip on the hash brown that comes as the side. Mouth watering. Can’t wait to try dinner. Very appealing atmosphere in a mid-century modern setting.
I'd heard of Municipal Bar from following Death & Co. and loving their books. The day of, I made reservations since it was so close to an event I would be attending at the Trustees Theater. We came for Happy Hour on a Tuesday and stayed through dinner! The Happy Hour specials are all amazing. The Old Fashioned was delicious, as were the martinis. We tried the Hashbrown & Caviar, and wow, it's amazing! Next, we had the fries and the oysters from PEI on the Happy Hour menu. All excellent! For dinner, we had the Croquettes, the Octopus, and the Lamb Sausage plates. All were amazing. Perfectly portioned and so good! Our server, Erin, was patient, helpful, and on point all evening! The ambience is very cool. The '60s vibe and decor are amazing. Such a cool place! Next, we want to stay the night in the Municipal Grand and have a night out on the town right there! I want to try all the menus! This is a great addition to Savannah, and I was so excited to finally get to try it out. We will be back!
I have been waiting YEARS for something to happen with the old water department mid mod masterpiece. We just came in for drinks, they have a great menu and the service was good. The vibes were awesome! The decor, the music, and the staff totally made it. It felt like stepping back into the 70s (in a good way) and enjoying great cocktails with great company!
Very welcoming! Our waiter Steve was the best! We went to brunch for my friend's birthday and the food was amazing and located in the heart if downtown savannah, will be going again!
We walked into Municipal Bar right at happy hour after a long road trip from beautiful Jacksonville, Florida. We made key stops along the way at Buc-ee’s, Piggly Wiggly, and Food Lion to stock up on supplies for the journey. We entered into a space that has been expertly converted from a municipal building into a cute trendy cocktail lounge. They kept certain key elements from the municipal building and blended it with modernistic lounge design. I was obsessed. Whoever designed this place deserves some kind of award. We sat at the bar and ordered a couple dirty martinis ($10 at happy hour), fries ($5), oysters ($16) and garden lettuce ($12). My girlfriend soft launched me on her IG story with a picture of my hand and $14 Casio watch holding a martini glass. WE DID IT!!!! The oysters and fries were fantastic, but the garden lettuce was a brick. We just didn’t enjoy the dressing at all, but that’s more on me for ordering that. I knew better. The martinis were hitting different. I felt like a New York businessman in the 80s, slamming martinis after a long day of yelling at people on the phone slanging penny stocks. Absolutely the best! The four course I enjoyed were beautifully presented and the flavors were fresh, bold, and just amazing! My server Sasha and the bartender paired a wine with each dish and they nailed it, with selection from all over. Get a reservation and you will love everything about this place!!
I randomly came across this spot while walking and decided to stop in. Since I didn’t have a reservation I grabbed a seat at the bar and honestly I’m so glad I did. The place is super clean the staff are really friendly and everything was just perfect. The food smelled so good my hands were literally shaking while taking pictures 😂 And huge shout out to them for splitting the steak onto two plates which made sharing so easy and thoughtful. Definitely coming back. Such a great Saturday night dinner!
Fantastic gem right off the waterfront! Found this place just a few blocks from our hotel and WOW. Totally amazing bar and svelte lounge. Quality cocktails and a subperb downstairs wash room area. The staff was attentive and accommodating. Learned the cool history of the renovation and how the bar used to be where people paid their water bill. Simply cannot recommend this place enough.
Amazing place for a date night or girls night out. Great range of shareable plates and cocktails! Definitely recommend for good flavorful food and chill vibes. Pictured: Flat bread, Sourdough Dumplings, Marble Potatoes, Aperol Spritz.
We’ve come twice for brunch on Sunday morning and I think this place is fantastic. I recommend the French Toast (crispy edges, ricotta, and a delicious syrup), my wife likes the Parfait (though it’s a little sour). The space is beautiful and the service is very good. Be aware there’s no alcohol service until 11:00 am, but the coffee is top notch.
Had our anniversary dinner at Municipal Bar and couldn’t be happier we did. The space is beautifully designed, the feel is big city chic without trying to hard or looking like they had a Pinterest party. The vibe on a Friday night was great; busy and crowded and kinda loud but never too loud or crowded or busy. The cocktails were unique and creative refinements on some classics. The food was seriously good, not a bad bite throughout the meal. That whole Branzino will change your life if only you’ll let it. The gnocchi would make Nonna happy. Whether it’s your first date or your 400th, watch out for the croquettes - they might steal your partner. And the hashbrowns with caviar? If they had a Costco-sized option I would have loaded up my cart. So good. Of course, no 5-star review is complete without exceptional service. Friendly and attentive, and the perfectly handled a totally bizarre wine key incident. Just an all around wonderful experience.
We walked in, the mid afternoon and were seated right away as a party of four. Steven our sever was very charming and accommodating. He recommended the oysters and the drink special. We got fresh oysters on the half shell and truffle fries which paired well with our cocktails. I got the drink special which is similar to a Negroni and we also got a Bloody Mary and two classic cocktails. The atmosphere is very clean, classy, yet still a casual feel to it. Definitely recommend if you want a little elevated place to cool off after shopping on boughten. I recommend Steven as your sever and can’t wait to see them again!
This is our new favorite place in Savannah. Very cool vibe. Delicious food. Excellent service. This isn't your typical bar. Everything is elevated. All top quality. I highly recommend this place.
Chandler was the best wait staff we could have asked for. He was so good on Saturday night we came back on Sunday! Could not have asked for a better experience! Thank you chandler! We will also come back on Monday, he is not working but we love this place now!!
Adorable restaurant and bar with fun blend of mid century and art deco vibes. Get the cheeky espresso martinis, delicious and perfect size! Staff is so attentive to your every need. This is the perfect place for an upscale brunch on your girl’s trip.
I have been twice so far. Once for breakfast - I strongly recommend the french toast. Another time for drinks during happy hour.
Loved the place ! Oysters Superb! Specialty drinks great ! Accidetal find. Recently opened . It was credit union ? Remodeled and turned into this decco style.
Very cool spot. good food, great drinks. the tartare and oysters are amazing
Beautifully decorated Art-Deco lounge and restaurant. The food and service were excellent.
This is a time capsule with incredible food and drinks.
The attention to detail in bringing back to life this 1950s bank building is excellent. I’ve always had excellent service from the bartenders but this time I sat at a table and had great service from multiple employees and the food was delicious. We had the porridge, French toast, salmon tartine and the crab sandwich. The French toast was the highlight of the menu on this visit.
I visited about a month ago and cant quite shake the memories of the meal I had. That bronzino didn't have a single bone and the sauce was to die for! Service was prompt even during a shift change at the bar. Excellent deconstructed affogato with a little tipple of amaro on the side. Dessert will never be the same!
A nice welcome and sat quickly our servers were Sasha and Bella and they were brilliant!!! They were very knowledgeable about the menu and suggested various items. The food was delicious and the drinks tasty, it was our first visit and it won’t be the last! Now to tell loads of friends 👍👍
Simply Exquisite! Kelwin was superb, Fantastic service. The cuisine is top class for Savannah! Coming back for a 2nd Brunch Soon. Thanks Again
I’ve been to Municipal Grand two times now and have enjoyed the drinks and overall atmosphere both times!! …The space is truly stunning, and is COZY given that it’s literally a hotel lobby bar (it does not feel like it)..I decided this last time to do a client meeting there and we were taken care of by Sasha. We enjoyed that we could make a reservation ahead of time to guarantee a spot for us, and were able to enjoy drinks over some work, Sasha made us feel attended for, without a constant bother of being over sold or a pressed feeling to leave so she could turn the table. I’ll will be back, and will be asking for SASHA! 🤍
We enjoyed an amazing Christmas Eve lunch here. The oysters, mussels frites and steak frites were absolutely delicious. The staff is professional and kind and the restaurant and bar are beautiful.
Wow we had an amazing dinner here. Great atmosphere. Nice but not stuffy. The croquettes and steak frites are a must. We will def be back!
Came here on a Friday night and the lady bartender was very sweet. I ordered the steak frites and fries they were good and the steak was tender and cooked perfectly with the sauce. This place is very relaxed and classy. Will be back
What a lovely hotel restaurant! Visited this past Tuesday evening. Read about it prior to our visit. The restaurant is well curated, the service polished, and cuisine is excellent. Sure you will be successful for many years to come. Great addition to Savannah!
Great service, food and atmosphere! I tried octopus for the first time. It was outstanding! I will definitely be back soon!
WOW! I was SO pleased with everything. The service. The food. The atmosphere. GREAT. Went for lunch and had the Municipal Hamburger with fries. GREAT. Cooked perfectly (medium rare). Juice dripping on the plate. We also ordered the Hashbrown. YUM! Drinks were good. Service was great. Pool on the roof is small, but plenty of seating for socializing and drinks.
The vibe in this bar is 10/10. The hosts and servers were so friendly and the food was amazing. Our drinks were never empty and we left full and happy.
Always excellent food and service! Tried the Mussels Frites. Fantastic! And they make a great Cosmopolitan!
This place didn’t show up on any lists, but we were thrilled to discover such a winner right around the corner from where we weee staying! We hit up dozens of restaurants during stay but found ourselves here over and over again. The vibes are impeccable - the interior is beautiful and very modern 70s esq in the best way. At first we didn’t realize this was in a hotel and it feels kind of like a hotel lobby? But not in a bad way, the design is super intentional and beautiful. Their happy hour is great, we had many martinis and enjoyed them every time. Their food is excellent, the caviar hash brown, charcuterie, burgers, salad, and their breakfast were all top notch. I had probably the best dessert of our entire trip here - the date sticky pudding. Not to mention the staff is incredible! Every server we had was absolutely wonderful. At one point we were desperate for quarters to do laundry and one of the hostesses went to their car to get us change it was above and beyond. Also their speakeasy Hot Eye is super cool and vibey, this whole place is a sleeper hit. Cannot recommend enough!
This is a very good restaurant. They make a mean dry Martini. Wines by the glass also good. Had the seafood tower, steak frites and whole branzino. Truly scrumptious. Just because a gang of folks hanging around the bar were crowded into our table space, someone brought a complimentary cauliflower kimchi snack. Classy.
It’s such a unique ambiance. If Don Draper or Andy Warhol walked in, you wouldn’t think twice. Absolutely everything was exceptional—the food, the service, the comfortable chairs—everything. Two recommendations: 1) get the Sidecar—even if you drink alcohol; 2) don’t even think about not glancing at the dessert menu. Also, if you’re fortunate enough to be served by Justin, you are in for a stellar experience!
This restaurant has a very very nice atmosphere, it is modern but yet it transports you back to the 60s while having a sophisticated vibe. The service was good and it’s fair priced! The food is very good although there aren’t a lot of options! Nice place for drinks and eating!
Cool little new bar that we wanted to check out. The food is really good but VERY overpriced. We dine out all the time and will most likely not go back because of their prices for dinner and double priced bourbon pour. It is a place we wanted to go to, so, we did it once and thst was enough.
Atmosphere is really nice - make sure to go at night, as it's lit really well. The cocktail was good, although the price of cocktails now is just ridiculous. If you want to go, I'd recommend getting something on the happy hour menu or a beer or cider.
My first experience at Municipal Bar wasn’t great. The food was average, but the service was about a 2. Our first waitress left us sitting at the table until my friend had to wave down another server. When I asked about specialty drinks or recommendations, the drink menu was simply handed to me. I won’t be revisiting. Thanks for reminding me how important it is to treat locals with care!
We live down the street and have long enjoyed visiting Municipal Bar; it’s a convenient walk and consistently offers an excellent meal. Unfortunately, the service has been noticeably lacking on multiple occasions. Even with a reservation, our table has often been marked as “unavailable,” leading to prolonged waits, incorrect orders, and delayed drinks. This pattern has persisted during our last three visits, with something always seeming off without an apparent reason. It’s time for the service to rise to the level of the atmosphere and culinary experience you’ve created.
Giving two stars for the two okay experiences here but the last and final time here was awful. the food and drinks weren’t bad but the service was so terrible our server was missing multiple times for extended periods we had to go to the host a couple times and ask them to grab our server. our server was also very rude. there were no apologies. we spent about three hundred dollars and still tipped twenty percent but we will not be back.
In the past I’ve always enjoyed both the food and the staff, but my recent dinner on Saturday was disappointing. The hostess and waitstaff were noticeably rude, which really affected the overall experience. I hope things improve in the future, but I don’t think I’ll be returning anytime soon.
The place was not busy. The bar was all sticky and we asked for it to be wiped off. The bartender stood in front of us and stared at us as we looked over the menu, he kept asking if we had any questions and didn’t give us any time to settle in. It felt very uncomfortable.
This is a gorgeous place with an amazing location. We went here for brunch, however the hostess and waitress were rude.
It was gross. The french toast was awful. The actual venue is interesting, but I wouldn’t go here again.
