Really enjoyed my meal here last Sunday 2/6/2024 We hired an area for my mums 70th and it was brilliant We have the weather on our side which made the day even more delightful. Plenty of choice for food lots of different types of beer some local beers and ales too! Staff were friendly and efficient Would definitely visit again.
Brilliant night here, my wife had a massive choice of GF and went for the Farmer Burger and I had the sourdough bun on a bourbon burger. Fantastic amount of food and good value. Lovely cosy eating area. Top marks to the staff for attentive good service but also leaving us to enjoy ourselves
If youre craving abit of meant this is the place to go, their smokehouse menu is great for meat lovers (there are veggie options too) and was super good. Added bonus of a decent playarea in the garden too for the little ones!!!
Fantastic meat / grill selection. The quality of the food is excellent, the portions are great. The outside area is fantastic with a little play area for kids. The price is very fair for the quality. Staff are friendly, helpful and always have a smile on their face. If we lived closer we'd be here more often. Highly recommend.
Sunday lunch was great and there were lots of menu choices including gluten free options. Food was delicious and well presented, service was great and our server Poppy was very attentive and friendly. We will definitely be going back and would recommend.
Amazing food, probably the best in the area for BBQ and American. The Burger i ordered was insanely good, huge portions, fresh, tasty and cooked perfectly. I ordered a side of onion rings and they were huge! Definitely only for sharing! The pub was clean, service was impeccable. Highly recommend.
Great big plate of roast dinner, 3 different meats, very generous plate of proper crunchy roasties, crackling and parsnips, red cabbage and carrots.. delicious!! No room for pudding unfortunately but we would defo go back again!
Five of us for lunch and the food was “Top Drawer”! Best chips we have EVER had anywhere. Game pie great AND a proper pie with a pastry base - not just a lid on a dish !! Pub maybe a little tired but the food and staff make up for all that. Recommended 👍
This was our first time here, and we will be coming back very soon. The food was very nice. The staff are friendly and polite nothing was too much trouble. All age groups were welcome. I would recommend it here to anyone what a lovely place to come to. 😊 Went back today even though it was a cold, wet day we were given a warm welcome. we had a lovely meal, and we all enjoyed ourselves well worth the journey 😀 I had the absolutely delicious stake and mushroom ale pie 🥧 😋 one had the ploughman's which looked lovely and they enjoyed and one had the Oslo wrap which they had last time which they also enjoyed. I had the Reuben Ciabatta last time, which I would recommend to anyone.
We've had a dinner with friends (party of 7) on Boxing Day. The pub is very welcoming with a fireplace close to the entrance. The staff was great... polite and professional with smiles all round. The food was just beautiful (better come hungry as portions are generous). A place I can recommend without a hustle. Definitely will be back. Thanks.
We had a Sunday lunch here which was wonderful. The Pork Belly and a roast beef was priced reasonably and both were cooked to perfection. Service was also very good and happy to provide some additional gravy.
Visited in the week with my family, on the way back from a local garden centre. I have quite specific dietary requirements due to being Vegetarian, but with multiple food intolerances and allergies. The staff member was really helpful and it was great to see that they offer a good range of options for Vegetarian, Vegan and Gluten free customers. All of us ordered something different (my family are not Vegan/Veggie) and everyone enjoyed their meals! Staff were all lovely, offering a warm welcome and with a friendly/caring approach when asking about certain ingredients. Will definitely visit again when I’m next in the area.
Great food, full 3 course menu between 8 adults and 8 children, nothing left. Sevice 10, the staff were very attentive and absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend . Great play area for children. Great value, good quality meats. Vegan/GF options too.
Had lunch here at the Farmers the other day. The staff and the customers made a really positive atmosphere for me at the Farmers and so my experience seemed really pleasant.
Great local pub, good selection of beers and ales. Varied menu, good food not the usual run of the milk and not excessively priced to boot. Added bonus, dog friendly, log fire and free biscuits for our four legged friends.
Great day out with the family. The service was great, plenty of outdoor seating (and indoors) and nice family friendly atmosphere with a playground for kids. Of course, great food as well.
The nicest Sunday lunch I have had in a long time! The food was an excellent standard, quick and the staff are fab! 100% recommend!
Nice to see some vegan options in a country pub. The vegan burger, chips and coleslaw was delicious. Friendly and helpful staff. The outdoor area for lunch was spacious.
Fantastic service, good availability of tables on a Friday. Food was quick and very well cooked! Will be back for sure!
Excellent food and service, big portions at a very reasonable price, a bit quiet for a Friday evening but not an issue, highly recommended and definitely will be back .
Huge portions counted 5 veg on plate delivered hot by very pleasant staff . Very impressed by our waitress who made all our requests happen especially a pudding request I couldn’t make my mind up on A cosy corner of the pub as main restaurant was full but impressed we weren’t just turned away but accommodated . Two empty plates for both courses tells how much we enjoyed it
Alex was amazing excellent service put a smile on my face Friday morning with an extra lime in my drink thanks Alex your brill
Lovely welcome, shamrock on the Guinness, no worries with service, great food infact the best roast beef I've had at a Sunday lunch in years!!! rare beef as requested 2 good slices too yup can't fault service or food brilliant thank you
Amazing staff and nice beer 🍻 I haven't tried the food yet though
OH MY GOD! Absolutely fantastic food, brilliant service, lovely kids area and dog friendly. We had the loaded skins and belly pork starters. Delicious, flavourful and moist . Followed by ribs and beef brisket. Melt in mouth, tender and packed with flavour. If I didn’t live 300 miles away I’d be a regular, a large regular perhaps!
Gathered for family celebrations. Group of 10. Varied meal choices. Possibly one disappointment was with the £45 Farmers BBQ blow out. Some of meat was cold, dry and quite fatty. Frys with skins on tasted lovely but were tepid, to the point of being cold.
It was our first time at the Farmers, my son had randomly picked here for his 18th birthday dinner and the food and service did not disappoint. The service received by the 2 young ladies behind the bar was fantastic, and the food was absolutely out of this world. Would highly recommend a visit if you are passing. Only slight downside is that the pub is a bit tired, but when you get food and service like we did then ultimately it's no big issue.
Nice enough village pub with garden food looks good but bit limited choice of ales
Had a Sunday roast with the family. It was pretty decent, parking was easy and the service and atmosphere were good, but the chicken was so hard and dry that you could have sunk a boat with it. Rest of the roast was tasty fortunately, the beef was good.
We arrived quite early on a Wednesday evening, so it was fairly quiet. The building is huge with several dining areas. We took in the view of the outside dining area and play area which really spacious, it has an outside bar(for the busier times) and huge BBQ for thise special hot occasions. We decided to dine inside as the weather was not particularly great but ok for children to run around, from where we sat we could oversee them playing which is always nice to do. We never did get the name of our waitress, (brunette)she did a very good job of making us all feel very welcome and had a good laugh with us at points. The blonde waitress who served us our onion rings was also very polite and lovely towards us. The food was really good, I chose the texas Burger which was flame grilled, I'm not a fan of the pretzel bun personally, but I understand why people like, as it's a unique way of serving a burger. The fries were very good and the homemade slaw also. The children chose the burger for their meal and one with corn the other beans and fries. They shared a starter and dessert which was corn dogs as they wanted to see what the Americans fascination with them were,They didn't disappoint. They had the cookies & cream cheescake to share which also they thoroughly enjoyed. My wife chose the brisket with fries, and opted for the lime tart with lemon sorbet. Both my wife and I had a cider each which was a tasty appleshed on tap.
Friendly helpful staff. Restaurant pleasant in conservatory. Service quick. My ciabatta was too hard and so difficult to each with filling falling out. Full of garlic but this wasn't referred to in menu. Salad saturated in dressing and too many sundried tomatoes, thus I left half of it. Pleasant enough experience but I wouldn't have lunch there again unless menu was refined and more appropriate sandwiches on offer. Eg softener ciabatta and the option of rolls sliced bread, baguette and simpler fillings.
Came here as we read the menu online and smoked rare roast beef sounded fantastic. Unfortunately the beef couldn't have been any more well done. We were planning on having dessert but after sitting for 20 minutes without our plates being cleared even with 5 staff all stood by the bar aimlessly I went up to the bar to pay. I love the smokehouse idea but after this experience I don't think we would be back to try it.
We just went to try the Farmers smokehouse for a family birthday, 18 of us in total. We arrived at 6pm, ordered at 6.30pm….. then one of the staff kept coming in to confirm various things on our orders and to inform us of things that were no longer available…by 7.30pm the kids were starving and all that had appeared was a couple of starters. Around 7.40pm the food started coming out… the chicken had a glaze on it which wasn’t mentioned on the menu, so they declared they would make another. Two people from our group had burgers that were raw in the middle. The chips on at least four plates were clearly double cooked to keep them hotter as they were rock hard… one meal got forgotten completely so we were told it would be made up but take a few minutes to come… meanwhile my new chicken arrived with no glaze on… it was hot on the outside.. fridge cold in the centre…. Then the missing meal arrived at 7.50pm. This meal was cooked well and was made free of charge. All in all just pretty below par, we won’t return in a hurry. Staff were polite throughout.
Very outdated pub. Disgusting taxidermi and hunting pictures throughout. Overcooked dried out chicken with reformed ham egg and chips. Sweetcorn weren't too bad but won't be back till they modernise and teach the chefs better.
We visited for Sunday lunch. A bit disappointing really as the ambience comprised what we usually consider to be suicide music 🎶.. The Vegan option of Wellington was soaked in heavy so was more like a sloppy slipper.. Not sure what the filling was but it was a bit like a wet mashed sweet potato. Potatoes were were very nice, I did expect slightly more than 1/4 of a carrot 🥕.. So salt we won't be returning...
Mid week lunch not much choice from a BBQ grill menu Food really dry no sauce or gravy choice. Really horrible!! Won’t return. Spent £75 on 3 lunches and a coke each and had to eat when I got home!!!
Just had a Rib Eye steak meal. It was the worst meal I have ever had. The Steak was very expensive and it was very disappointing. Very griessily. The Fries were substandard and the Salad was also disappointing. I will not be returning.
Iv been a regular customer to the farmers. Always recommended them to others. Unfortunately changing it to a smoke house, I think was a risking move. Food was cremated. Not smoked was horrible. Dry. And a lot of effort to eat. Luckily we all still left with teeth. Why change something that was already amazing. Gutted Lovely staff as always that's not changed
Reviews said it was best for roasts on FB, so thought I would try it with my family from Australia, how embarrassing! All four of us thought it was the worst we had tasted. Tough dry chicken, dry pork belly. The so called roast potatoes were absolutely disgusting, re heated rubbery and terrible. Carrots and parsnips tasteless, gravy was sweet? We all agreed the best part of the whole meal was the cauliflower . However, The staff were lovely. I think the only thing that attracts customers is the Yorkshire puddings. But the chef unfortunately needs to learn how to cook the rest of the roast much better. Desserts were fine though. Also watch out they automatically add the tip /service charge! And in small print you can ask them to delete it, like anyone is likely.... but I would not of given a £13 tip for the meal had I noticed it earlier.
Could do with a clean inside and out, sticky table, chef helping with a bonfire in parking area in chefs clothes! Not impressed with food, Cajun grilled chicken very wet, blackened salmon was more certainly not as described.
